This place was pretty good!! All the staff are extremely friendly, the table bread was piping hot and delicious, and the food was very well prepared. The duck sliders were delicious, and the NC trout was phenomenal. The fish was well-seasoned and cooked to perfection, and the potatoes were addictive. Our waiter was really fun, and we also spoke to the manager, who was very nice. I would absolutely eat here again, and I'd recommend visiting if you're in town.

I’m not normally someone who takes pictures of their food but omg it was sooo good. Not photographed was the tiramisu and the brie but they were also amazing. If you’re in the area you have to stop and try basils. You won’t regret it. Staff is super friendly and energetic, I could write 3 paragraphs about how good the food is. Pictured is the sun-dried tomato spinach pasta and the salmon risotto.

We came here because it says they make their own pasta and sauce. Perfect. We made reservations and were seated promptly. I noticed there was alot of food crumbs in the booth between the seat and the back. I hesitated to sit but sat anyway. The floor where I stood was sticky and I noticed the flies. The flies I chalked up to the doors being opened. We ordered the spaghetti and meatballs, steak paparedelli and buttered noodles, goat cheese salad and a Caesar salad. The goat cheese salad was unedible. There were so ma y things wrong here. The spaghetti was a mush they took it back to remake but took so long We wondered. The steak was good. The pasta was clumped together and I had to cut it like a potato. We decided to pay and leave. The waitress who was lovely asked for feedback. Which I gave. As pasta makers..when you make fresh pasta their is a slim marginal line for no errors. It also seems there is no semolina flour in the pasta dough, way too much sauce in the dishes. Presentation is everything. You cannot serve patrons the way you serve yourself at home. The meatballs had a mushy texture. Almost like meatloaf. The sauces had no flavor! A homemade sauce gives so much room for growth and improvement. My husband thinks we should go and try something else on the menu as the manager on duty gave a discount on the bill. We would have just paid it and not gone back. But he showed good management and judgment in the meal comps. So, Thanks for that. An hour or so after we got home we both had stomach ache though. I'm chalking that up to the fruit flies. O the calamari and eggplant fries was very. Very greasy. The breading from the calamari kept falling off. The kids menu needs a revamp and there need to be significant improvements with the sauce, pasta and cleanliness. If you are going to use pasta as your corner stone, it needs to be the BEST!!

We are in town for a short getaway and wanted something delicious to eat! After seeing that Basil made their own pasta, we decided to stop in. Drew, the server was fantastic! The food was amazing! Pappardelle is hard to find - but homemade is even harder! I had the Mushroom Marsala, my boyfriend had the Steak Gorgonzola, and my kiddo had the kids pasta with parm. We also had the artichoke appetizer and S’mores Martini. Everything was EXCELLENT! We are so glad we went. The portions are plentiful as well.

Google
We came in after a football game with a very large, loud group. Sebastian took such good care of us!! We never had to want for anything. He was on it! The food was amazing and the prices are unbelievable. We will definitely put this on our list as a Boone favorite and plan to go back next time we visit.

I just had the most mind-blowing experience from Beck! From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere was warm, welcoming, and full of that “you’re-about-to-eat-something-amazing” energy. But the real star of the show? Our server — absolutely outstanding. Friendly, attentive, and somehow managed to make us feel like VIPs the entire time. And the basils burger. Oh. My. Goodness. That burger was so good it practically made my tongue fall off — in the best, most delicious way imaginable. Perfectly cooked, juicy beyond belief, and packed with flavor that should honestly be illegal. Every bite was a tiny firework show for my mouth. If you haven’t been to Beck yet, stop what you’re doing and go. This place doesn’t just serve food — it serves experiences. I’ll be dreaming about that burger until I come back (which will be very soon).

Google
Our server Beck Hardin was a lovely gentleman who put his all into the service. He was so funny, he made our table giggle a lot! I ordered the Basils Burger and it was splendid. The flavors danced on my taste buds and it was so wonderful. The burger was cooked perfectly. I would definitely come back here every day if I could! But that would be a lot of burgers to order 😂

As others, I do feel is a bit pricey for sandwich and chips. Reuben tasty but needed better grilling. Chips very crisp and good.

Melonie T.

Yelp
I definitely thought about that the food was really good. However, I went for a specific item that I had last time which was the buffalo chicken sandwich and they had changed their menu. That was my fault for not checking before we went. I did have the butternut squash salad and it was delicious. My dad had meatballs and my cousin had the chicken wrap. All of the food was really good and came out with no delays

Yelp
Stopped in for a meal as a pre-celebration for my daughter's upcoming 10th birthday! Most of the places we usually go to were completely packed with wait times over 45min. We did a quick Yelp search and stumbled upon Basil's. We called ahead because online it was suggested to make reservations - I called and they said they were accepting walk ins and they weren't too busy. Upon arrival a few minutes later, we were seated promptly and our drink orders placed. It was a peaceful and quiet venue. I'm not sure what it's like when busier but there were quite a few tables seated but it wasn't too loud and the music was pleasant and relaxing. We took some time to review the menu and settled on frittes, calamari and Brussels sprouts for appetizers. Unfortunately, they were out of calamari. I mistakenly read the frittes as being a mix of potato, sweet potato and eggplant. The server clarified that it's one choice but they could make it with a mix of them all upon request. Because I had the kids with me, we just went with potato. The garlic aioli dip and the parmesan garnish on the fries was absolutely delicious! Have to say I wasn't a huge fan of the Brussels - I didn't find them to be crispy enough and that could've been due to the excess amount of the maple Dijon glaze (pictured). The glaze was delicious but overpowering for the dish. My kids ordered the kids burger and chips and the buttered noodles. They all enjoyed it and the price was reasonable at around $8 per kids meal. I ordered the spaghetti and meatballs and the strawberry and arugula salad. Loved the salad and enjoyed the spaghetti and meatballs as well. I would say that the fennel was a little strong in the meatballs but aside from that I loved the dish and couldn't finish it due to the large portion. It was $21 but a sizable amount given it was lunch. We also ordered the pesto chicken melt (forgot to take a pic) but it was probably our favorite item out of everything we tried. The staff was incredibly attentive and friendly! The food was very tasty and came out relatively quick. Overall, we're happy to have had the opportunity to try out a new place that we can add to our rotation when we visiting Boone.

Yelp
We ordered the roast beef on a hoagie roll that was supposed to have a horseradish sauce. There was no indication of it, which was disappointing. But even more so was the "au jus", it was more like canned beef consommé! I asked for ketchup instead. This was a really roast beef sub, but to advertise it as a roast beef with horseradish and au jus isn't accurate. Our server was efficient and friendly. Our eggplant fries were limp and greasy. Either the fryer wasn't hot enough, or the eggplant fires were frozen and too wet to crisp. Either way, I wouldn't serve those in good conscience. I love the vibe here, but today's food was seriously lacking.

Yelp
I want to love Basil's. I've been here 5-6 times and it is never consistent. I enjoy the full walls of windows, Blue Ridge Mountains photos, and open concept, but service is not as attentive as could be. My experience today was perhaps the worst. Our food came out quickly, but the Brussels sprouts could've cooked more, noodles were extremely overcooked, pasta rossa sauce flavor is never the same, and the meatballs were dense. Last time I had this exact same meal, it was fantastic. The waitress was very friendly and checked on us immediately after entrees were brought out, but not again until we were ready for the check. My friend's water was empty and we were ready to go. There were only 3 tables seated at the time. First time I didn't take leftovers home. If the food was more consistent, I would happily spend money here. But currently, not worth the high prices. They also took my favorite sandwich, the French Dip, off of the menu, which doesn't relate to this review but does disappoint me.

Yelp
As a local, I don't often leave negative reviews for our local establishments. But I was irritated at our experience at Basils. We walked in and were told right away that the right side of the restaurant was for trivia that night so we had to sit on the left side. Not a big deal I thought. Until we walked in the room on the left and it was about 50 degrees in there with only two small space heaters trying to heat the space. I'm talking, it was so cold in there I couldn't feel my toes or nose the entire time we were there. Meanwhile, the other side of the restaurant was warm and when I went to use the restroom before we left only one booth was occupied... As far as food, it was bland and the chicken on my pasta was dry. The grilled cheese on the kids menu was so hard my daughter wouldn't touch it and when I tried it, it literally hurt the roof of my mouth. The only positive of our experience was that we had a friendly waitress. Also, there was a small table in the room that rocked back and forth so badly that 3 different people were seated at it and got up and went to a different table. No one even attempted to fix the wobble, just kept seating people at it. Will not go back.

Yelp
We go to Basil's regularly usually on wine special nights when they have free wine sampling and 30% off wine bottles. They have a variety of beers, wines and craft cocktails. I love their salads; my favorites are the kale salad and goat cheese & pancetta salad. I usually add a salmon filet! Their pastas are hand made and delicious as well. They do often run out of certain ingredients so there have been several times that some dishes were unavailable.

Yelp
Eat here!! Thank you to the kind server who helped me today!! I had a can of soda explode in my backseat and couldn't find a trash can. I had pulled over outside of Basil's and had no other choice but to ask them for help . He was so nice about it and didn't make me feel bad about the situation. I used to work in a restaurant and I understand that no server needs a side quest, especially on move-in weekend. So again, thank you so much for your help and kindness!

Yelp
First time trying the place, and I know it's known for it's pasta. We went for brunch, four of us, food was adequate, drinks were unique, service was not overbearing. I may try them for dinner in the future.

Scott B.

Yelp
Trout dish was very salty. Pasta was strange..like sitting in water too long kinda mushy and pasty. Sauce was a little bland..Bread served was cold and expected warm as most serve that way..Hope it was an off day..

Kevin J.

Yelp
Food was excellent. Great menu. Service was excellent. Cozy and quiet atmosphere. We will be regulars.

Roxie R.

Yelp
Just mediocre. Pastas and sauces were just OK. The evening we were there they were out of three main ingredients, so there were very limited choices .

Yelp
We had a lovely dinner at Basil's. My husband had a Steak sandwich & a salad & I had the Salmon & Broccolini with Risotto with a Limoncello Martini! Both of our dinners were very good with great service! I definitely would return for another dinner! Restaurant was very clean & tidy!
google avatar

Yelp
Excellent Brussels sprout salad. Good mushroom pasta, terrible burger. Friendly wait staff. We lost power while there and everyone was good natured about it.

Yelp
This is definitely the spot for a nice wine & pasta lunch! I've always gotten the chicken pesto pasta, but you can also never go wrong with spaghetti and meatballs. Everything is fresh and the service is quick! They have great salads as well that are a good portion so you won't be left hungry. They also have a different menu for dinner with additional entrees that aren't offered for lunch.

Deborah W.

Yelp
Dinner visit was pretty good, but there's definitely room for improvement. Staff is excellent, keeping tabs on us the entire visit. Bread was good, but would have been much better hot. Pasta is homemade, and we were anxious to try it. Very good! Sauce was also good, but entire dish was dry. New York strip was cut lengthwise, not cross cut, so it was much tougher than it needed to be. Overall, a good meal. Will probably go back.

Mary S.

Yelp
Knock your socks off type of incredible food you always hope and pray to find in a little while in the wall restaurant! The food was unbelievably good and so we're the cocktails and service!! I'd truly rate 10/10 if I could - go there. You will NOT be disappointed!! Except, ask for the brussel sprouts without the mustard sauce..... But everything else? Perfection!! Will definitely done here again and again!!

Thomas T.

Yelp
We're locals and decided to try Basils. The food was a 2 (on a scales of 1-10), Service was a 3 (on a scale of 1-10). The chicken alfredo had no Alfredo sauce and had to ask for the sauce. When I got the sauce it was thin and watered down the chicken was dark and white meat, small portion and grisly. Not a good dish. The fries were good. My wife got a sandwich, the turkey had a lot of fat on it and wound up with an upset stomach after leaving. We went to check out and the server only provided the total amount no itemization. We had to request the itemized receipt. We had to get our drinks several times, the server was seldom around. After leaving, we realized they charged for 3 drinks instead of 2. I didn't care for the tea and got up and got a Diet Coke. I'm not a negative person and believe in giving credit when due. I also believe in sharing experiences to help people make good choices. We use reviews to make informed decisions. We won't be going back to Basils.

Yelp
Excellent chicken pesto pasta! I stopped by for a weekend lunch and enjoyed their patio. The lunch was yummy with homemade pasta and pesto sauce. I liked my cocktail drink, Saturday special for $6. I tried a bourbon lemonade cocktail. It was a tad sour but good for the price. Service was great and the patio was peaceful. Parking is in the lot.

Angela T.

Yelp
Beautiful, but not for us. The menu was very limited and they were out of 3 meals. I am a lifelong 50+ year vegetarian, and there are not many options. I ended up getting Alfredo pasta with broccolini on top ( comes with chicken, which I omitted) so I paid full price for a meal that had no protein in it. It was good, but nothing I will go back for. Comes with the territory of being veggie. My husband got the spaghetti and meatballs. He liked it and the serving was huge. When he ordered, he asked if it came with garlic bread and our server said "oh yes, on the side." Well, each place had two half dollar sized circles of what tasted more like a cracker than bread. We only had a soda and sweet tea for drinks. It was an expensive meal that was mainly pasta on both plates. Pasta is so cheap to buy.

Yelp
I LOVE BASILS, DUDE. The food and drinks are fabulous; it is a peaceful place to eat with your family and friends. My friends and I always go here to eat and catch up. Plus we always have leftovers :p

Karen F.

Yelp
We happened on this restaurant quite by accident, but so glad we did. Basil's is an airy, spacious place to sample fresh, delicious entrees and the quality is excellent. I had the Chicken Alfredo pasta dish featuring perfectly grilled chicken, homemade noodles and a sauce that was light though full bodied and flavorful. Husband had the Sun Dried Pasta with chicken and the taste was scrumptious. Each dish comes with crunchy toasted garlic bread and tasted right out of the oven. Service was great, too. Highly recommend a visit to Basil's...we'll definitely be back!

Mark K.

Yelp
Solid food with adept service. Smart location with ample parking. Loren ipsum to meet random content requirement.

Nico Nico N.

Yelp
Weird experience. Our waitress guilt tripped us into tipping much more than her service warranted. As we were finishing up our food, she talked about how little she made hourly and that she was relying on our tips because she stated her hourly rate was too low. When one of the people in our party did not tip her through their card (another person was covering their portion of the tip) , she proceeded to ask with a persistent tone, "Are you tipping in cash?" The rest of our group left over 20% gratuity so I feel that this behavior is very very odd to me. I've never had a waitress be so persistent on pressuring their customers to tip highly for subpar service. While I do understand the issue of low server wages, the behavior of guilt tripping your customers to," cover the rest of your wage" is not appropriate or fair. Customers are not responsible for making up for the difference in wages, and it's the responsibility of the employer to provide a living wage, rather than relying on tips to subsidize low pay. This left a bad taste in our mouth and we will not be returning.

Jeremiah R.

Yelp
DONT GO ON SUNDAYS it's brunch all day but there is like 10 items on the menu and all the food is over priced I will not come back!!!!

Matthew B.

Yelp
Our family of four is visiting from out of town and the first place we chose to try was Basil's. We were greeted by a gentleman (wish I would've caught his name to at least thank him) and were seated immediately in a booth. After about 5 or 6 minutes the same gentleman came back with menus and stated our server would be right with us, but after another close to almost 10 minutes we left after another party came in, were seated, and had waters and menus and we were still sitting in our booth, no waters and still no server. The restaurant was not busy at all and that makes it even more disappointing as we had high hopes for this place.

John M.

Yelp
Insufficiently flavorful for store made pasta. Pomodoro not available, Mushroom Marsala was bland and Spaghetti and Meatballs was as unflavored as it was large, and it was a big plate. No take home, it was that disappointing.

R B.

Yelp
We had reservations on a Sunday. We were seated right away, but we didn't get our food for 45 minutes. A couple of sandwiches and chicken and waffles order and the place wasn't even full. My sandwich was quite good. My wife's was not very good. My son's chicken and waffles were not even edible. Way over cooked. The chicken was close to jerky and I don't even know how to describe the waffle--eggo's would have been better than this. Avoid this place. So many better places to go in the area.

Jacob S.

Yelp
Great food great people great service love the place could eat there every single day Great atmosphere!

Vandana P.

Yelp
I'm so sad to be reviewing this place poorly as I had such high expectations from locals that recommended it to me! While the service and atmosphere of the restaurant was pretty good, the food was the most bland I've had in years! The pasta was over cooked and way under seasoned. I picked the veggie pesto pasta with shrimp after finding a picture of it on Google reviews and while the presentation was great and it looked like it should have been delicious, it was the blandest pasta I've ever had. Portion size was great but that's about it.

Hannah R.

Yelp
The homemade pasta and sauces are amazing.we would definitely recommend this place!! The service was great and food didn't take long

Yelp
I took my family to Boone with no knowledge of the local dining. We decided on Basil's and we weren't disappointed. Normally, my son is a very picky eater who only takes a few bites of something before calling it quits. Not today. He ate until he couldn't fit any more into his little belly. As you can see from the picture, he was having a great time. The staff were all very sweet to him. He's the kind of kid who doesn't know a stranger, so he will greet everyone he sees. All the staff made sure to greet him back and even engage him about his multiple toys cars that he has on him at all times. My wife and I are somewhat picky when it comes to places like this, so it was a really pleasant surprise once we took our first bites. You can really taste the difference a fresh noodle makes to a dish. We will certainly be back the next time we are going through Boone. The only reason I'm not giving a 5 star review is a very minor criticism of the chicken, which was slightly dry. Granted, the flavor of the chicken was very good. It's just that it's dryness took away from the pesto linguine that I ordered. My wife had meatballs on her dish and did not have this problem. They were on point. So yeah! Great place! You should eat there.
google avatar

Melissa B.

Yelp
Easygoing and Industrial feel atmosphere. We picked it because it had enough things on the menu for carnivores and vegetarians alike. So pleased we did. The food was yummy. Everyone loved what they ordered! I didn't get a chance to picture the soft pretzels and beer cheese app because my family scarfed them down. On a Sunday night around 6:30 wasn't too busy. There was a constant flow of people coming in for food and/or a beer. The service was great. Our wait staff was attentive and friendly. She had great recommendations and was helpful. After we filled our bellies we decided to move over to the pinball machine for a little family friendly competition. Crazy fun. My kids loved it. If you happen into Boone and want a good meal give Basil's a try. I'm already planning to go back whenever we get back to the mountains.

Yelp
This is an interesting place. Menu has sandwiches of unusual construction and some Pasta entrees. I had the Smoot sandwich-- turkey, 2 cheeses mozzarella and Swiss-like, greens, walnuts on sourdough. Served cold with chips. No explanation if the name provided. Dotter had a ravioli in a home made white sauce loaded with park & garlic. Served with garlic bread. I ate the sauce she left in the bowl. Too much garlic for her but I loved it. Dining area is adjacent to bar/brewery area. Lots of beer specials. A little pricy for a sandwich & chips ($8.50) but very good. Checkout at table on iPad with square. No hard copy of receipt provided ( which is fine for me).

Yelp
I'm 3 for 3 at this place - everything I have ordered has been just phenomenal and it makes me sad that I didn't try it earlier. Basil's is a hidden gem in Boone. I would say it is rival to Our Daily Bread but the parking situation is a lot better and Basil's has an Italian focus. I tried the meatball sub last night, and it is not your average sub. It came loaded with fresh mozzarella, pesto, prosciutto, marinara, and delicious pork/beef meatballs. Best sub I've had by a mile. My other favorite is the Basil's Special. I have also tried the Pesto Chicken Melt and it was delicious as well. I don't think you can go wrong with anything on the menu. If you're up for it, sub your chips out for one of their homemade soups. You won't regret it. Beer fans - Booneshine's brews are incredible. The mocha stout is my personal favorite.

Yelp
Great dinner and lunch spot! The service is great and there are so many options on the menu! Definitely would recommend either the bruschetta or zucchini fries!
google avatar

Jessica B.

Yelp
Disappointed by our visit. To begin with, it was extremely warm in the restaurant. We had multiple servers...thankful that they weren't short-staffed. I had to ask for another adult beverage. Cesaer salad was under dressed. My daughter's side of au jus was extremely over salted. Server's reply was that au jus is salty. On a good note, restaurant was clean and the atmosphere was inviting.
google avatar

Samantha M.

Yelp
This is such a great spot. The staff was amazing! They ran out of pasta after having a mishap with the printers and comped our whole meal. More than enough! We will definitely be back! Such great food, wine tasting, and atmosphere!
google avatar

Eliana M.

Yelp
They are doing great with all the COVID restrictions. For me, there was no wait, the place was clean, and the employees/servers were nice! Only 1 star off for personal reasons, as I didn't love the entree I selected.

Beth P.

Yelp
Found Basils quite by accident as I was leaving the Boone Mall. I was happy about the outside seating, and the service I received was attentive and quick. I ordered the Cacio de Pepe and for a dish that is basically Parmesan cheese, Romano cheese, pepper and noodles...it was lacking in the cheese. The was water at the bottom of the bowl...which for a cheese dish seemed odd. What I got was basically noodles not drained with pepper and a sprinkle of cheese. So not the best effort on this dish. The menu seems to have a good variety of items and the house Chardonnay was good. I gave Basil's 4 stars because the service was very good...the food just so-so.
google avatar

Suzanne S.

Yelp
Great food and excellent service! Tyler always provides a smile along with the beer cheese pretzel. What more could a customer want?!
google avatar

Tess F.

Yelp
I have dined at Basil's a handful of times, and I am always left satisfied with my experience. The restaurant itself fosters a laidback atmosphere, and I like to pop in for a quick lunch. I love their ravioli, and I have also ordered a salmon lunch special and flatbread appetizer; all delicious! I particularly love the flatbread with pesto, artichoke hearts, tomatoes and fresh arugula. The flavor pairing is spot-on with what appeared to be a balsamic reduction drizzled on top! (I highly recommend it). In addition to lovely food, Basil's offers a large selection of their Booneshine beer, as well as a variety of wine. While I am not much of a beer drinker myself, I am impressed with their selection of wines. I find that their selection pairs nicely with the variety of dishes on their food menu.

Yelp
First time eating here. I ordered takeout, and it was ready when I arrived. Ordered the Caesar salad with shrimp. So good! Stamp were prompt and friendly!
google avatar

Christina H.

Yelp
The atmosphere was nice. We loved that it was connected to a brewery and that we could order flights! We came in a group of 8 and they quickly accommodated. Service was excellent! The food was okay, I would not recommend ordering pasta here! The sauce was clumpy and the pasta overall was bland. Overall, I would come here just to get beer not order food.

Kathryn C.

Yelp
Always love Basil's pizza. Now hooked on the meatball appetizer! We eat these with a glass of red. Great crab dip too!

Terri R.

Yelp
Have eaten here a few times and never disappointed. The sandwich with the delicious cranberry bread is wonderful. Spaghetti is good as well. Offer outside seating. Alcoholic beverages are available.
google avatar

Jax L.

Yelp
Their sandwiches are delicious! Ordered pick up here twice recently & both time it was a great experience. They also started doing curbside pick up so even safer during covid, which I appreciate!
google avatar

K D.

Yelp
Not impressed. Meatball sub had two meatballs and was served with essentially Lays chips. If felt like I ordered the meatball sub from Subway. Our waitress never brought refills, but did bring our bill without ever even asking my husband if he wanted a second beer. Food was average at best. Will not return when we're back in town.
google avatar

Sandi S.

Yelp
The food was really good and staff was very nice, but beware if you have a nut allergy! I ordered a turkey sandwich for my son and didn't mention that he had an allergy to tree nuts (yes, my bad as a mom) and apparently they have a nuts in some of their bread and they use the same knife or prep surface. So my son had an allergic reaction after a few bites of his turkey sandwich. Just FYI that they don't routinely use separate surfaces and utensils for their sandwiches that use the bread with nuts.
google avatar

Katie M.

Yelp
Really lovely environment and service. Great wine and beer list. However I would go back for just drinks. The calamari and shrimp carbonara were pretty bland and tasteless. I am Italian American and do maybe have high standards for Italian food, but it seems more flavor is necessary across the board.
