My Suggested 4 Day Prague Itinerary for 2025

"For a luxurious stay, Augustine is set in a still-working monastery from the Middle Ages and is one of the nicest hotels in the city; its basement bar even serves homemade beer brewed from a recipe used by the on-property monks." - Matthew Kepnes

This hotel is all about the experience and its unique location, because you will have to compromise a few things compared to modern standards. The wooden floors crack, and you will hear your neighbors and the people walking down the hallway. We also endured some tobacco and pot smell, since our room was right next to a public balcony that people use to smoke. It was not too bad, but just so you know what's ahead. The room itself is rather quaint, and they preserved the look from early last century. It does come with a TV and a A/C window unit. Unfortunately, they added a modern shower that did not fit in the whole ambiance. We got a quick ride to and from the parking lot, that was working well. And we also enjoyed our huckleberry pie and a good meal on the balcony looking over Main Street. As long as you know you're not getting all your modern conveniences, you'll probably enjoy staying here.

We were booked at the 1886 Crescent Hotel but their elevator was out of service. I can’t do long staircases. We agreed to be booked down the hill at the Basin Park. Same owner. Much smaller but charming. We had a 2 room suite. Bathroom nicely updated with a jacuzzi. Comfy bed. Great restaurant and even a game room. Fun ghost tour nightly. I loved their daily texts about activities and offers. Wonderful staff. The shuttle drivers will take you to restaurants, and to your car. Parking is about 2 blocks away. No pool but you can use the one at the Crescent. A couple of drawbacks: The shower floor was as slick as ice with no grab bars at the shower entrance. Very dangerous. The easy chair and sofa , the only places to sit, were much too low and soft for me, a short old lady with bad joints. I literally needed my husband to pull me out of them. The hotel happily provided an extra straight chair. It’s in the heart of the shops. But the Crescent is still on my bucket list. May their elevator be healed soon.

I was concerned with the age of the hotel when I booked. But everything was top notch. The temperature outside was close to 100, but the ac unit kept the room nice and cold. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. The food at the restaurant was great. My teenage daughter loved it. We are already planning a return trip.||Wear some comfy walking shoes. The town is great, but lots of hills and stairs.||Nothing against the hotel, but I recommend a spring or fall trip. It was brutally hot in the middle of July.

We paid extra upon check-in for late check-out at 1400. The next day I was called on my cell phone at 1330 and the room phone was called constantly until we left the room. Housekeeping and the bellhop even came to our room multiple times before 1400. This behavior is unacceptable when you charge customers for late checkout. We also paid extra for a roll-a-way bed that didn't stay inflated, and our bed mattress was hard and uncomfortable to sleep on. There was a fire alarm/carbon monoxide alarm directly above the bed that flashed a bright green light. The couch was the most comfortable item in the room. The jacuzzi was dirty and didn't work. I'm thankful we got this room at a discount rate because I would have been very upset to pay a premium price for this room. We visited the Balcony Restaurant, and the staff was very friendly, but we also felt very rushed out of there as well. My family will give great consideration before staying or recommending this place to friends to family.

The price was right for the location and the chance to stay in a hotel that is rumored to be one of the most haunted places in the US was too good to pass up. The room was small, but to be expected with an older hotel. Small refrigerator and a good place to hang our riding gear were both pleasant surprises, as was the protected storage area for our motorcycle (AKA bike jail). Like many older hotels, the place could use a little sprucing up here and there however, including a good deep clean. The paint job was atrocious and we noticed missing paint in some places while it was noticeably slopped all over the lighting fixtures in other spots. The bathroom had a nice jetted tub but we didn't use it as it looked like it had been a while since it had a good cleaning. (There were noticeable amounts of pink bacteria built up in the water inlet.) We also noticed some stray hairs from shaving around the sink area left behind by a previous guest. It wasn't a huge deal, but kind of makes you wonder what else they didn't clean after the last guest left. Staff was super friendly, and having a game room as an optional hang out in case of rainy weather was a great bonus. We did some exploring around the building, including wandering up to the top floor where we saw a creepy old doll in the middle of the room. It was an excellent touch that added to the hotel's spooky vibe. All in all we probably won't be staying here again, but are glad we gave it a try at least once.

We’ve stayed here many times and it’s always amazing! The staff treats you like family, the rooms are comfy, and the food is delicious from the balcony restaurant. The huckleberry pie is a must try! It’s perfectly located right on Main Street, so walking the strip is easy—and the free shuttle to the Crescent Hotel is such a great bonus. We love relaxing by the pool, enjoying the spa, and grabbing pizza on the Sky Bar balcony. Always a great stay!

As a local, we got the opportunity to play tourist at the Basin...and it was WONDERFUL! Service was great. The rooms were nice and clean. The Baloney Restaurant was great! Proud to have this business in town

We've stayed at the Basin numerous times. The history of the hotel is amazing. The hotel is the hub of downtown. Hotel staff have been friendly and helpful. Shuttle for parking is good, during operating hours. Restaurants and bar are really good. It is a very old hotel and is charming. Don't expect brand new anything, anywhere. If you want coffee, forget about it. Unless you want to wait until the sun has been up for 3 hours. Shops around hotel don't open until 9/10am. So if you want breakfast or coffee, you must leave the hotel, walk a mile to your vehicle(shuttle service starts at 7am), and drive somewhere to find a restaurant or coffee shop. Come back to hotel parking lot, walk another mile up the mountain, and back to the hotel. The good thing about this town is there are plenty of places to stay, choose wisely.
