Overall, we had a good dining experience. The food quality and the friendliness of the staff were excellent, but be aware that the waiting times were unexpectedly long. We truly appreciated that one particularly nice lady apologized several times for the delays, which helped manage our expectations. The Stars of the Meal • The Steak (Secondi): This was absolutely superb! The steak was wonderfully tender and had a perfect level of salt. It was a great portion size, and the accompanying vegetables and potatoes were also perfectly cooked. • Carbonara (Primi - pictured): This dish (which was served in a generous, "humongous" portion) was great. While it wasn't as creamy as I'm typically used to, the cooking and seasoning were spot-on. I found the spice level high, almost resembling the Pasta all'Assassina. My only small critique is that there was an excess of rendered fat visible at the bottom of the plate, which could be reduced next time. Despite that, I would definitely order this dish again. Other Dishes • Pasta with Olives and Paprika (Pictured): My sister's pasta (likely the spaghetti in the silver bowl) was good overall, but it didn't stand out when compared to the magnificent steak and my fiery Carbonara. • Orecchiette with Pesto (Pictured): My mother had the pasta with pesto (the green dish with the large slice of bread). The pasta itself was good, but the large piece of bread on the side felt unnecessary. Summary and Recommendation Despite the significant issue with the waiting times—which the restaurant needs to improve—the quality of the main courses and the kindness of the staff made this a worthwhile visit. I would come again specifically for the fantastic steak and the bold Carbonara.

A truly heartfelt ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ review — this was my favorite restaurant of the entire four-day trip! The décor is tasteful and elegant, and the waitress took excellent care of us 😌. The Matelra-style bread served before the meal (I forgot the name 😅) was soft and delicious — I even ordered a second serving. we had starter,roasted beef and squid ink pasta — absolutely flawless 😍. The roasted beef melted in my mouth with rich flavor, and the squid ink sauce was incredibly fresh. I dipped bread into nearly every last drop! If I weren’t worried about getting sleepy from drinking in the afternoon, I definitely would have paired it with wine 🍷. And the owner’s dog 🐶… just too cute! The generous owner even let me play with the dog for quite a while — unforgettable food, service, and atmosphere! ❤️

This is heaven. In a city that is fastly loosing its authenticity, becoming a tourist trap, this restaurant was exactly what we needed to regain our hope . The waiter was amazing. We felt respected and cared for. We ordered carbonara and… never thought these flavours existed. Took me an eternity to finish the dish because I wanted to remember the taste forever. Conclusion? The price was nothing, considering the experience. Thank you for existing

A bohemian atmosphere, cozy, excellent service, and delicious food. The grilled tuna, brought on the hot plate among aromatic herbs and baked potatoes. So are the sausages. The squid with potatoes and baked risotto, tender and delicious. The chocolate cake with almonds, soft and smooth, went very well with the coffee at the end. I recommend!

We had a good dining experience...until we got the bill. It was inflated by about 50% (€187, instead of €112). All the items were correctly listed and priced, EXCEPT THE TOTAL BILL. When I pointed this out, they casually mentioned it is an arithmetic error, and changed the bill. No apologies even! Never have I experienced anything like this. I'd like to believe it is a honest mistake, but I can't imagine how only the total is off by a random amount. CUSTOMERS BEWARE!! Double check the math!

Basquait in the center of Matera, Italy makes for an enjoyable dining experience. The decor is eclectic, art on the walls, comfortable couches along tables makes for a more casual feel. The food was excellent. The tuna crudo was fresh and clean, the orecchiette had a dynamic presentation, various textures and a savory flavors. The fennel salad was fresh and clean. All of our food was delicious. Compounded by a friendly sever and its a destination to return!
