How to spend a weekend in Phnom Penh - SilverKris

"I wandered down Bassac Lane and found it to be one of Asia's more characterful cocktail alleyways—once a leafy residential laneway, it evolved during the mid-2010s into a buzzing nightlife hotspot." - Jonathan Evans

Bassac Lane – Phnom Penh ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 🍸 Vibrant nightlife packed into a few atmospheric alleyways — great bars, hidden gems, and secret nightclubs like H Club bring an electrifying energy that’s hard to find elsewhere. 🍽️ Food lovers will enjoy places like Mama Dumpling, known for its mouthwatering dumplings, alongside other street food and fusion bites scattered around the area. 🎶 The music scene is alive — from jazz to indie rock, every bar has its own vibe. ✨ Whether you’re here for a chill drink or a wild night out, Bassac Lane delivers. However… 💔 It was heartbreaking to see hungry children selling flowers late at night along the street. We shared our food with them — a reminder that not everyone around the party is part of the celebration. 🌆 A must-visit spot to experience Phnom Penh’s urban soul, but also a place that calls for reflection and awareness.

Good place to come late at night because all the bars around riverside close around 1am and street 136 is only for old tourists looking for a bar girl, bassac lane has a good mix of local and foreigners.

Love this area of Phnom Penh. Very chill and with so many options of bars and restaurants. Don't stop at the main intersection! Go back in the alleys and explore different types of eateries including western bar food, local Cambodian food, Italian and pizza, tapas, Thai and more. Be sure to take the stairs in different venues and go to the 2nd floor for more unique options. Also, check out the rooftop at The Avery Hotel. It has a great view and a nice breeze to cool down!

BASSAC LANE is a whimsical place full of some of the best eateries and bars in Phnom Penh. It's family-friendly, bustling with tons of foot traffic. The restaurants and lounges are all topnotch. So, if you want a memorable evening, go to this area as it's a melting pot of expats and city natives out to have a good time.

It’s definitely made for tourists, it’s fairly similar to a Pub Street that you would find in Asian cities. It’s loud, many bars and restaurants pumping out loud music. Hawkers constantly coming up to you trying to elicit some money. The food is nothing exceptional and there are better restaurants in Phnom Penh charging similar prices or below. It’s the kind of tourist experience you do once when in Phnom Penh, then you progress to better experiences. It’s more geared to the 20-40 age bracket.

Looking for nightlife, this is the place Bassac Lane is similar to pub street in Siem Reap. Has a couple alleys that are lined with pubs. A must see if you’re in the area. Lots of diverse restaurants and .50/.75 draft beers is a great bargain. Depending on the location and menu, prices may vary. Most will have A frame signs with their prices and specials. Street is used by motorcycles and scooters so be careful as you walk. Some venues have karaoke or live music. Have fun!!
