We love breakfast here. Shared the smoked salmon benny. It was delicious. Coffee was excellent. The staff is lovely. We try and stop here every time we visit. So, we'll be back!

Really great vibe little place. Had the Mexican breakfast (Huevos Rancheros) and it was fantastic! The sweet bun kinda like a cinnamon roll but not, much much better! Just a great place all around. Love the cute branding.

I had the pulled pork eggs Benny and it was incredible but the breakfast poutine that my husband had was life changing. The gravy is just soooo good. It’s like”thanksgiving in a bowl.” You should consider adding cranberry sauce…

Excellent baked goods using traditional butter biscuit dough - great value given the size - designed to be shared or to tame serious hunger. Coffee is made with love and presented with a great care. Full brunch menu available featuring eggs bennies, huevos rancheros, bowls - everything is made in house from scratch.

It was my second time at Basted Baker, and this time, I had the Banger Biscuit sandwiches and Eggs Benny with bacon and tomato. Let me tell you, this place really takes comfort food to the next level! The Banger Biscuit sandwich was delicious. The freshly baked biscuit was fluffy yet hearty, and the sausage was perfectly spiced—flavorful without being overwhelming. The hollandaise sauce was absolutely perfect. Everything came together perfectly, making every bite super satisfying. I also picked up their homemade spicy ketchup and used it as a honey-ketchup glaze on some homemade crispy chicken tenders recently. So delicious!

Had brunch here today, and the food is amazing. I had a full order of the Huevos rancheros, and I was not disappointed. If it had meat options, it would have been phenomenal. My wife had a half order of the pulled pork Benny, and it was also scrumptious. I had a taste of it and enjoyed the flavours. It comes over roasted hashbrowns, which were very tasty. Of course, what is brunch without their very rich and flavourful coffee hellooo. We also had the carrot cake and the cinnamon swirl to go, and they were both tasty treats. The service is nothing special. When we were done I stacked the plates with the garbage and cup and the waitress kept coming by to deliver other people's orders and not once asked if she could take the plates away (even though it was obvious that we were finsihed), they never checked in to see how the food was or if we needed anything else. I am not a fan of having to pay for your meal AND adding a tip without knowing what the food tastes like and what the service is like. I mean, come on. You tip based on your experience, and although our culinary experience was great, the service left much to be desired, and having known that I would have never tipped as much. For this reason, I give it a 4 star. Don't get me wrong, I will come back again and try a different dish. However, I won't tip ahead. Instead, I will leave a tip on the table, based on my experience.

I came for the eggs Benedict, stayed for the scones. What a wonderful place to eat while on the Sunshine Coast! The staff was friendly and accommodating to requests, and the food was superb. As a fan of eggs Benny, I was not disappointed. I was literally speechless and didn't say a word as I savored every delicious bite. The eggs were poached to perfection, the hollandaise sauce was rich and creamy, all on top of crispy bacon and a flaky, buttery biscuit. Do your taste buds a flavor (see what I did there) and make this a stop when you are in the area.

Delicious breakfast with friendly service! Loved the casual relaxed atmosphere too. This cafe offers beautifully baked treats and dishes with generously sized portions. I absolutely loved my Basted Baker Hash. It’s like a warm breakfast salad with roasted peppers, mushrooms, pickled purple cabbage, crispy basted potatoes and a poached egg on a bed of fresh spinach. It was both delicious and beautiful! We also enjoyed an apple pie and a slice of carrot cake to go. I highly recommend this cafe!!

Yelp
Came for a late lunch on a Saturday, just before the rush. Two half orders of egg bennys. One vegetarian and one smoked salmon. Pros: - service was speedy and seating space is very tidy - the gave us sparkling water in a to-go cup on the house upon request (thought we had to get a Perrier) - egg was really well cooked and runny Notes: - hashbrown and biscuit was on the dry side

Carolyn L.

Yelp
I stopped by for coffee. Then I got a slice of the carrot cake. I can never resist it especially when it has a generous serving of cream cheese icing on top. Then I got intrigued by their house made spicy ketchup. The staff was so kind to tell me I could try it before buying when I was dithering over it. There is a bottle on every table. So I tried it and then bought two bottles. Great way to sell the products. The flat white was ok. A bit too strong for me. The carrot cake was delicious. It would have been better if I had tea with it. It was not very busy on a Tuesday late morning but I can imagine it to be a popular spot on weekend. The dishes on the menu were very enticing. I'll have to come here next time I'm in the area, just to try the biscuit sandwich or eggs benny. There is also parking at the rear where there is also a patio.

Adam C.

Yelp
Everything food wise is tasty, service is very kind, you can sit in or outside too. If you get there early enough you get the food where as in showing up you lose out on the great morning muffins. Sitting inside the sun shines though the window and being there early is relaxing.

Selina Y.

Yelp
Great little place to stop off for a quick bite if you're in Sechelt. Their biscuit was my favorite part of this breakfast. It was nice and thin but packed in a lot of flavor and the edges were nice and crispy while the middle was perfectly soft for my liking. The restaurant is a little small but they do have patio seating in the front and covered tables outside at the back of their restaurant.

Janet W.

Yelp
Great lattes and coffee and selection of fresh baked goods. Great carrot cake Busy location so get there early. Breakfast I also heard is great!

Yelp
Súper packed as there was a car show right outside. We ordered matcha latte, savoury scone (but ended up getting a blueberry scone), americano, and pulled pork sandwich. Their biscuit was goooooodd. Expected their scone to have the same texture but not sure it was the most fresh scone, however, the size of the scone was biggggg to really fill you up. Highly recommend their sandwich, though really wish it came with a side for the price we paid. Overall cute and would stick to the popular items

Kade H.

Yelp
Their biscuits are perfect. Crunchy edges. Soft in the center. Perfectly poached eggs. Friendly service with a smile. Order then seat yourself. They'll bring your order to you. Small patio in the front and in the back. Very cute little place. You should definitely try it.

Christina L.

Yelp
We came here for bennies at brunch time and it was awesome. Generous portions, great flavours, and that butter biscuit was so so good! Staff is friendly and there a nice patio at the back. I would eat here again next time I visit Sunshine Coast.

Ted M.

Yelp
NOT in Pender Harbour! this is in Sechelt an hour away . Fairly priceyalthough the baked goods are big

Cathy E.

Yelp
Love this cute little cafe in the heart of Sechelt! Absolutely wonderful breakfast - and reasonably priced. The staff were so incredibly friendly and helpful. They clearly love their work. Lots of smiles, laughter and great suggestions when trying to decide what to order. I had a poached egg with thick buttery bread and a generous portion of avocado. Delish! My husband had a large and tasty cinnamon bun. The coffee and tea were great - also reasonably priced. Highly recommended! We will definitely be back!

Sean C.

Yelp
Nice light and perfectly cooked scone, pretty chill atmosphere. Great alternative to big chains Small coffee definitely small but good

Kelvin C.

Yelp
This place makes everything themselves, when a eggs benny comes with house made biscuits you know it's got something good going. I was completely stuffed after their pulled pork benny. Seriously their portions are near American sizing. Either that or I'm used to shrunk sizes- coming from Vancouver. Anyway items are well laid out on the cute wall menus. The pulled pork was intelligently seasoned -not doused with some pre-made bbq sauce like many places. I arrived as the first customer as I sensed it would get busy quick on a nice summer day especially with limited seating in this cozy venue. Returned a few other times just to grab pastry for mid day snacks and they were all well prepared and fresh. Will be back again.

Micah B.

Yelp
Great staff and welcome atmosphere and solid food and drink. Wed recommend this to anyone.

Matthew E.

Yelp
Wow, food was incredibly good and portions were massive. The two women running the show were really kind and friendly. Because of the plexiglass (Covid measure) and my lack of listening I kissed my Americano order. When I went up to ask where it was, they explained kindly that I missed the announcement, but not a problem, they'll make a new one. So nice. Food was great. Ordered two pulled pork sandwiches, hash browns, bacon and a buttery bun (there are four of us). This was way too much food and we ended up taking half of it home. The bowls on other's plates were as pictured in others reviews, and looked very good.

Jeff K.

Yelp
We visited BB pre-covid and it was excellent. We were not disappointed this time either. My daughter had the OG Breakfast Sandwich and an Iced Latte, and I had a half order of the Sausage and Tomato Eggs Bennie and a Latte. It was all excellent again and we will certainly be back the next time we come through Sechelt. Also picked up some pastries to go. A little pricey however they are huge so you definitely get your money's worth. I would highly recommend Basted Baker to anyone.

Rebecca L.

Yelp
We popped in early on a Saturday and fortunately we were able to get indoor seating for two! You order at the counter, get your seat and wait for your number to be called. We ordered the salmon Benny, heuvos rancheros, two empanadas to go (for a snack later in the day!) and coffee. The ladies working the front were super friendly and nice. Not sure about prior reviews stating otherwise! As everyone else mentions, the portions are very healthy. Between my husband and I we did a full order Benny and half order huevos. The huevos were awesome- a big portion of guac over beans, some pickles cabbage topped with an egg and salsa. Super flavorful. The Benny was also loaded with smoke salmon, spinach and tomato. I took a star off as the potatoes were a bit dry. We asked for our eggs to be soft but rather they were hard and overcooked.

Wendy B.

Yelp
Best eggs Benny and Huevos Rancheros I've ever had. Kind and happy service Nice ambience 10 stars.

Megan L.

Yelp
Cute cafe in town. Self service place but lots of room to sit and stay for food! We went on a Sunday but it wasn't very busy at all surprisingly. They have a ton of amazing looking baked goods... we tried the berry scone which was topped with white chocolate-so good! Make sure you ask them to warm it up. The eggs benny was good but not out of this park amazing. if there are two of you, getting a full order is enough to split). It comes on a fresh baked biscuit which looks better than it tasted. The biscuit could use some oomph to it, maybe spices or herbs? However it is very filling, though also very heavy. I would prefer an English muffin but if you're hungry you definitely wont leave like that. The patio is a great spot to people watch and gets lots of sun! I don't know if i would get the eggs benny again but I would go back to try more baking!

Jeffrey W.

Yelp
I really, really want to love this place. There were so many rave reviews about their brunch but it just ended up so very average. There are quite a few great things about the place. The space is reasonably sized and beautiful with two patios (one in the back and one in the front). Though we went on a Holiday Monday, there was still enough space despite the rush from the mainland. There was a sample of a peanut butter cookie at the front, which was a nice touch (though not labelled for the peanut allergy people). Also, their coffee beans are from Timbertrain and they roast them well and create great lattes out of them. Then comes the not-as-great aspects of my experience. The service is counter service and then you find a seat, which is perfectly fine. The service was prompt - definitely not warm by any standards but that's okay. Then we had to wait 30 minutes for our breakfast to be ready, which I ordered the Avocado and Tomato Benny (full size) which came with a side of potatoes. Their biscuit is quite good. Though Benny on a Biscuit is definitely heavier than your typical English Muffin affair - so I would have been satisfied with a half size offering. My biggest gripe about the place is that their Hollandaise Sauce is not housemade and it taste very much like mayonnaise. It was also quite drenched in it that really did ruin the Benny Experience. Overall, it was not terrible of an experience. I did enjoy their coffee. But for their breakfast, it definitely is not worth the 30+ minute wait for a very meh Benny. If I return, I will not try another Benny until they sort out their Hollandaise situation.

Liz F.

Yelp
Cute place with great menu items. We had the huevos rancheros that were hearty and had a nice twist with navy beans instead of black beans - tasty dish. Also had the spinach and mushroom salad that was tasty but quite simple - it could use more pepitas or something else mixed in to make it as hearty and interesting as the other bowls on the menu. My friend had the Buddha bowl that looked amazing and full of different flavors. Their cinnamon roll was big and looked great but it needed to be heated more than their little toaster could do - the pastry wasn't soft and doughy which makes it tough to enjoy the many layers of cinnamon flavors. Perhaps I needed to go earlier in the day to get one fresh from the oven. All in all a lovely spot with front and back patios, good coffee and baked goods and fresh salads and bowls.

Amy T.

Yelp
It was my last day on vacation so why not go all out on a biscuit sandwich? Basted Baker serves some pretty damn buttery and flakey biscuits. I ordered the Pacific, which had wild smoked salmon, Crème Fraiche, baked egg, tomato slice, braised onions and sauteed kale. It may look small, but that thing is a beast. I thought the smoked salmon would be my favorite part, but I loved the sauteed kale even more. Maybe the part of the salmon I received was a tiny bit chewy. (too much of the vein) Other than that, it was still very enjoyable. I'll have to try their salad next time since the biscuit sandwich was a bit too heavy for me. The cappuccino was strong and delicious. Staff were welcoming and happy. This place gets pretty busy so come early on the weekends.

Cathy L.

Yelp
Had the Fowl Play biscuit (Chicken, Brie, Pesto.. like this sandwich was made for me.) it was a hearty breakfast! The biscuit itself was super moist and it was a really good sandwich but the 5 stars is really for the carrot cake I got (which I sadly forgot to take a picture) The carrot cake!! It was the best carrot cake I've ever had. Truth be told, the only reason why I would go back to Sechelt. It was so good that I bought another to bring back home to enjoy it again, only to find out that my mom finished the whole thing. If you like carrot cake, this will not let you down. And if you don't like carrot cake, this one will probably change your mind.

B D.

Yelp
This cafe/restaurant has gone downhill since I was last there. The eggs Benny wasn't up to par. Everything was cold. New owners??? Now using paper plates and plastic utensils. Not you'd expect at these prices. $37 for single Benny and Double Benny with 2 coffee. $$$

Lindsay K.

Yelp
Great food here! Amazing biscuits, generous portions, and perfectly-cooked eggs. We ordered to-go and ate at the cute back patio, lots of seating on picnic tables. There's also a patio at the front! Definitely worth a visit.

Cheryl L.

Yelp
Fresh baked goods! Cinnamon knots are awesome. I've pretty much tried all their bennies. Can't go wrong.

Gail C.

Yelp
Great selection of food and breakfast drinks. Good for breakfast and lunch. Had the chocolate chip banana muffin.

Beverly A.

Yelp
A must-go-to when you're in the Sunshine Coast! A small, busy place (because their food is delicious!) that has really good biscuits! Their eggs bennys are served on their famous biscuits, not on an English muffin. There's also a small patio to sit in, but good luck finding a table when the weather is nice out. I would've given a 5-star rating but I don't particularly like their roasted potatoes (aka hashbrowns) served with their eggs Benny. Everything else was good though!

Lynn M.

Yelp
Love this place. The biscuits are amazing (and very very large). The bowls are great but the breakfasts are so good. Last visit I had a breakfast served on polenta and it was amazing. Definitely a must go to place everytime you visit Sechelt!

Ashley Z.

Yelp
The food here is amazing and super tasty. If you like brunch with eggs or hollandaise sauce, this place is not going to disappoint you. I was bit skeptical at first because the place looks like a small cafe, i was definitely wrong. Food was phenomenal

Mike H.

Yelp
Biscuits are magical. Great food, great taste, great portion. The sandwiches are very big, so be careful. The biscuits very buttery.

Patrick S.

Yelp
Incredible food. Impeccable service. Passionate crew. Phenomenal attention to detail. The salmon sandwich on a breakfast biscuit bursts with flavor from the sauce. My wife ate a Pho sandwich, beautiful presentation of both, thank you! The menu changes frequently to follow the seasons and the local offerings. The coffee offerings are varied and equally as relish. Plus, there is a neat mural on the wall describing each. @DM and your one star review, seriously, don't come back. Their food is wasted on you. Stick to Swanson TV dinners.

Stephen G.

Yelp
I was drawn in by the interesting sounding breakfast menu. I ordered a smoked salmon benny. 45 minutes later it arrived topped with frigid and chunky hollandaise sauce. I could not stomach it. I imagine that this place is usually pretty good, given other reviews on this site. Unfortunately I do not see myself returning here any time soon.

Sara M.

Yelp
The biscuits are incredible. Like you should order one of the ridiculously delicious sandwiches to eat in, and then clean them out of all remaining biscuits in the case to go incredible. INCREDIBLE. We both got sandwiches and were VERY pleased... they were just the right amount of filling. Fun fact: they serve Timbertrain coffee. Like many others, Instagram lead us here and did not disappoint. Everything is as good IRL as it is on the interwebs folks. It is not an illusion! The space is small, but be cool. By the time you have waited in line to order, a table should be free. They have a patio at the back and some seats outside at the front also, depending on your constitution. We found the service to be a bit affected. But I guess you can have some attitude when your food is this good? I think I saw that in the hipster handbook.

Sunshine M.

Yelp
Arrived on the Coast at night and could hardly wait for morning. We had seen the Basted Baker goods on a friend's Instagram feed and wondered if it was worth the hype. OH MY WORD. 6 Stars. Seriously. It's a small establishment located on the main drag. Lot's of street parking available during the week and limited parking on Saturday (in summer) when the Farmer's Market is running. But, Saturday is when there are Eggs Benny Biscuits till 3PM, so it's well worth walking a bit. We ate here the first day and fell head over heels. We were heading to a different restaurant the 2nd morning and turned the car around reasoning that 'it would be a waste of time and money to try other places when we had been dreaming about the previous day's meal'. Went several times. Sat outside in front, inside and hope to try the back patio next time. The inside has a casual atmosphere and the server's are efficient and friendly. I would take a ferry just to have those breakfast sandwiches again. Can't wait to try the sausage and cinnamon rolls. Gluten free biscuits available.

Chris G.

Yelp
This place needs to be on the list of Absolutely Not To Be Missed! The portion sizes are enormous, I did not need to have the "full" size of pulled pork Bennie that I ordered, but the flavours were spectacular, so I couldn't bear to miss out on a bite. Their pastry selection is equally impressive, with the icing slithering off their cinnamon buns and apple pie pockets to die for.

L M.

Yelp
We took a chance on this - was thinking it might be a long wait as it was very busy but I think we were served within 20 minutes and their system seemed to work well. We had a Chicken/Brie sandwich and a Pulled Pork. Both extremely tasty. Good Berry Ice Tea and delicious coffee. Sandwich portion sizes were large and in charge and the biscquits very yummy. You can't really eat as a sandwich per se but who cares? It was delicious. Also shout out to the gentlemen who went around making sure the order numbers were heard. That was a good touch and so important when it's that busy.

R R.

Yelp
Excellent savory scone, splendid biscuits and perfect poached eggs. Espresso was bitter. Smart crows wait outside for crumbs to fall off of exiting customers' lapels, proving that they are more than bird brains. This bakery Cafe is a welcome respite for these non-Christian visitors on Christmas eve.

Nika J.

Yelp
A great place to bring family, friends or just yourself! The original is a long standing favorite but with so many good options, it can be hard to choose!

David M.

Yelp
Great service, food and most importantly, their coffee is great! They have an amazing Benny too!

Peter C.

Yelp
I really liked my breakfast: healthy portions and good ingredients. Staff were friendly.

Cayley C.

Yelp
So my hash is in the bowl, a half size of you can believe it! Nice big portion of avo. Eggs were perfectly poached for both! Pulled pork was excellent. Def a place I'd hit up next time I'm on the coast!

Ed K.

Yelp
Basted Baker has been open a few years now and they are still delivering the best breakfast/brunch on the Coast. I find that a full order of eggs benny is enough for two so we usually try and split an order. Their baked treats are great to grab and go, love those hand pies. Coffee is good, strong and fresh. Keep up the good work.

Marje B.

Yelp
Busy Sunday brunch. Couple of friends of mine decided to head to the coast for the day. We took the first ferry over. This place was opened early and was already busy when when arrived. Menus on the wall, fresh baked goods for showcase, busy batista all signs of a good breakfast place. I ordered a half eggs benny with smoked salmon and kale. It took some time to come but we didn't care, I ended grabbing a sunshine cake (similar to a carrot cake) amazing!!!! Moist and icing was perfect topped with pumpkin seeds. Back to the eggs benny. I love how they give half order options. It was very filling. Also came with potatoes, with nice kick to it. The base was a thick biscuit with a creamy sauce. Only complain was I asked for the eggs soft poached by the time it came it was about medium almost hard, but still yummy. Great look to the cafe, lots of outdoor seating from the front also some at the back. Overall it was a yummy breakfast. I wouldn't hesitate to come back if Im back in Sechlet.

Bent H.

Yelp
You gotta try the Smoked Salmon spinach & tomato eggs benny. OMG they were so much better than I expected!! Many places offer up eggs benny that are so mediocre, and I didn't want to get my hopes up. Fortunately this place makes a GREAT eggs benny, and one of the nicest hollandaise sauces I have ever tasted. Hats off to the Chef! Beware though; get the half order, these things are big. However, I did manage to scarf them both down. I was stuffed. The hash browns were pretty tasty and piping hot too, but I couldn't eat them all. My wife had the hand pie, it was tasty too, but in our opinion needed more filling. A lot of people were ordering the bowls, they looked really good. Maybe next time They make a great Americano, and the sticky buns are worth at return trip, when you have more room. The service is kind of cafeteria like, you place the order and they call you when it is ready. We ordered three things, and they called us up to collect our items one at a time, but brought my eggs benny to the table. By the time it arrived my coffee was cold and my wife had finished her meal, and had already ordered an Americano and a sticky bun. . . . I think they need to work on their timing a bit :\ I will say that I thought everything was a little expensive, $18 for eggs benny and hash browns, they are really good, but . . .

Fire F.

Yelp
Great coffee. The breakfast menu is fantastic and the atmosphere here is really nice. This coffee shop is what makes small towns feel so awesome. Keep up the good work guys.

David Y.

Yelp
Was on the way to the beach. Easy to call ahead to order, and they were very thoughtful to prepare my food ahead of time and coffee upon arrival. Highly recommend any dish that includes a biscuit and hollandaise sauce!

Graeme B.

Yelp
Amazing. Great service. Yummy biscuits (Gluten full and Gluten-free). This place knows quality. Perfect place for an anniversary breakfast. A reason by itself to come to the Sunshine Coast. I'd take the ferry here just for breakfast. We will be back.

Merissa L.

Yelp
Huge portions for their bowls! Even the half size will definitely fill you up! Quite overpriced (-1 star) but the half size is seriously equivalent to 3 meals. Staff was friendly and it has a nice cozy brunch spot feel. They also have vegetarian and gluten-free options for those unlucky ones :)
