Tried a mix of dishes at Bastian Bandra and the experience was quite mixed.
Veggie Thermidor : Looked fancy on the menu with Macau-style veggies, coconut cream, parmesan, and truffle oil, but sadly underwhelming on the plate. The sourdough was too hard, the flavor was dominated only by garlic, and the whole dish felt like a heavy lump of parmesan rather than something balanced or enjoyable.
Edamame Hummus : A surprise hit! Though served with kucha instead of pita, it turned out delicious. The hummus was smooth, flavorful, and paired beautifully with the bread. Easily the best dish of the evening.
Kung Pao Paneer : Very inconsistent. The first time I tried it, the paneer was soft, rich, and perfectly seasoned. The second time though, it was nothing more than paneer tossed in Schezwan sauce, felt like something from a local Chinese joint rather than a premium restaurant dish.
Lotus Kunafa Cheesecake : Ended on a decent note. The dessert wasn’t overly sweet, which I appreciated, and had a good texture. Not extraordinary, but nice enough to wrap up the meal.
Overall :The menu sounds exciting, but the execution feels hit-or-miss. Great hummus and decent cheesecake
