Bates Nua Restaurant Rathdrum

My starter, the Iberico pork skewers, was excellent and came with an amazing kind of tomato jus/relish that contained pepper, rosemary, onions - this combination and both on their own were very, very good. I ordered the burger - you think these days no burger will surprise you, but this one does. Juicy, elegantly seasoned, the bun perfectly toasted from both sides each and you just notice some thought went into this masterpiece. Can’t wait to try the Rib-Eye next time. I can absolutely recommend this beautiful, cute and culinarily fantastic place! Definitely not my last time.

Had an amazing meal with my family yesterday. They have super friendly staff working there and came to check on us every so often which we appreciated. The food for us all was 10/10. We got the steak, salmon, curry, prawns. Couldn’t fault a thing. They allowed our little dog inside which was amazing as a lot of places aren’t pet friendly. I would recommend this place to anyone. We will be back again for sure.

One of the best meals I’ve had in a long time! We ordered the sea bass and the salmon. Both dishes were flavoured so well esp the veg - I don’t know what the chef did but the veg of both dishes were so flavourful. Excellent service and very relaxed atmosphere. Will be back! 🤌🏻

We had an absolutely wonderful meal at Bates Nua. The burger was robustly flavorful, and the salmon with vegetables, mash, and hollandaise was superb. In addition, we were served complimentary port after dinner. We highly recommend this restaurant.

A pleasure visiting this cosy restaurant! A simple menucard, with both meat- and vegetarian dishes. All homemade. I had the greek vegetarian burger and my husband had the angus burger. Both were very delicious and Rich! The nicest waitrice and owner who deserve to get our best recommendations :-)

Beautiful place with delicious food and outstanding service. We took a group of friends out for lunch to celebrate a special occasion. Adam and the team couldn't be more helpful. The food was fresh and delicious! Portions were very generous and the service was very fast considering the restaurant was very busy on the day. We will definitely be back.

Had an absolutely terrible experience and would not risk returning again. Booked a table for 3 people on early Saturday evening. 2 out of three of us got food poisoning (both friends ordered tagliatelle Marinara). Pasta was meant to be with creamy saffron sauce and fish/seafood. However, it tasted more like curry sauce, and instead of proper fish or seafood there were some strange, old battered fishy pieces (something like few days old fish goujons pieces). We also ordered seabass which was meant to be served with vegetables gratin but “gratin” was a side dish filled with most random bits of vegetables (extremely overcooked and soggy) and covered with cheddar cheese. Personally, I thought that it might have been random vegetables leftovers covered by melted cheese. Ordered sparkling water and got served a glass with ice cubes with zero sparkles in it, so had to ask for that to be changed. Ordered a bottle of wine with two glasses and received one glass of wine. Over the years, I have been several times in this restaurant but never thought that it can get so bad.

We had a lovely dinner at Bates Nua last weekend during a visit to Rathdrum. The ravioli was absolutely amazing – perfectly crispy with a rich, flavourful sauce – and the Greek vegetarian burger was just as impressive. The staff were warm and welcoming, making the whole experience relaxed and enjoyable. We'll definitely be back!
