The location is perfect since it is super close to the vibrant Broad street, but in a little picturesque alley. It is also located right next to a cozy pub. We liked the historic and rustic character of the hotel and thought that it added to our experience, but if you are looking for modern and updated this is not the place for you.||The bed was comfortable, the place was clean and the staff was friendly. The included breakfast consisted of toast, croissant, tea, coffee, orange juice and pain-au-chocolate and we got to choose if we wanted it brought to our room or if we wanted to eat in the cozy dining room.||Negative things: |- One night there was a karaoke night at a bar close by which meant that the volume in our room was rather loud. |- The plumbing in the building could use an upgrade. You have to flush multiple times to flush even a tiny amount of paper, but we never experienced any problems with it.

This was our first stay at the Bath Place Hotel. So much was good about it, but we found some aspects disappointing.||Plus points +|- Perfect location for Oxford city centre. Very close to Hertford College, the 'Bridge of Sighs' and the Bodleian Library.|- Dedicated parking spaces nearby.|- Very photogenic|- Lovely staff||Negative points -|- Very much a wide angle lens used to take photo of our room. Limited access to left side of bed due to radiator. Could be a problem if hot?|- One room very peaceful. Other room - lots of noise from Turf Tavern even out of opening hours (kegging).|- Rooms could do with a bit of TLC - repairs to blinds, check that shower doors can close, more thorough cleaning.|- 'Continental' breakfast just croissants, pains au chocolat and toast. Would have expected some cold meats or cheese and fresh fruit or cereals. These were available but at extra cost for individual items.|- One of our party was gluten free - served with two slices of toast, nothing else. Unacceptable considering how much we'd paid for our stay.||Would I stay here again? Sadly no. We expected a lot better and it was supposed to be a treat for our daughter's graduation. It wasn't.

This is a charming hotel that has character. The staff are friendly and helpful. When I come back to Oxford I will be sure to stay at this hotel. Room: The room that I stayed in was unique and exuded the 17th century character. If you want everything modern this probably isn't the place for you. We were very close to the pub and so it can be noisy. We also stayed during graduation/formal and so the surrounding area could have a party going on. (Late June timeframe)

The suite was quaint, spacious, lots of character, right in the centre of town and cool in the heat of summer. Staff were really friendly and helpful. Lovely stay for a weekend trip.

This was not good in any way at all. Over priced, extremely dated room, noise, lack of facilities, appalling breakfast - never had such a bad breakfast. How can one hotel get tea, coffee and orange juice so bad - just such cheap rubbish. Felt like I was staying in a hostel. Avoid!

I stayed here last year as well and loved it. Beautiful, along a laneway in 17th century buildings in the heart of Oxford. This is the place for you if you like history. Very reasonable price, comfortable bed, good shower, toast and tea breakfast included, pleasant lounge area. Staff were lovely, great iconic pub next door. Heartily recommend (unless you want a sterile ordinary hotel!)

A wonderful quirky hotel, hidden away down off Holywell Street. Very central, with secure parking at a cost of £25/night. Well worth it in Oxford. Delightfully polite staff in reception and at breakfast. Lovely room, 400 years old and not a level floor or straight line to be seen! Access probably not easily negotiated by the disabled, but there are 16 rooms, so some may be easier. Altogether a great experience for our golden wedding anniversary trip down memory lane.

The first room I was in was on the ground floor facing the walkway that all the pub goers use. It was so noisy. It was also tiny. And had no shower. There was no space for my suitcase, except right up against the door. The room's only exit, I might add. They agreed to move me the following day. The second room was up a steep flight of stairs and slightly larger. Less noisy. The bathroom had a shower. The location of the hotel was fine, close enough to where I needed to be. The service was generally good, mostly friendly and helpful except for one who was a little unpleasant. Other than the noise, it was great having the pub on the premises when I needed supper and didn't feel like going far. The pub is fantastic. You can place your orders online and the food arrives at the table within minutes. The portion was huge.

Yelp
I can't imagine a better hotel to stay in in Oxford! Although 'hotel' might be a little inaccurate - this place is more of an inn or b&b. The location can't be any more central - down a tiny alley, right on top of the Turf Tavern and just around the corner from the Bodleian and Trinity College, Bath Place really is right in the heart of Oxford. Booking is a bit of a pain - like many smaller English hotels, they prefer that you book by phone, which is less than ideal when you have to pay international calling rates, but that's just a small hiccup. We arrived a bit later than anticipated due to some car trouble, but the hotel was perfectly accommodating. We were greeted by the receptionist and two friendly terriers, and shown to our room. I'd requested room 12 specifically because it's one of their few rooms with two beds, and it was perfectly lovely, but not for the mobility-limited. It's up a narrow, winding flight of stairs and there's no lift, so anyone who might have issues climbing stairs or those with giant luggage might struggle. We didn't mind, and had the top floor of the cottage to ourselves with a view of the bell tower and a pretty back garden. The room was quite spacious, especially for an historic property, and well appointed with a dresser, vanity, and mini-bar complete with tea and coffee fixings. The bath, although lacking a shower, had a generously-sized tub and a heated towel rail, which I was supremely excited about. We had a good night's sleep, uninterrupted by Turf revelers - with the windows closed, we couldn't hear a thing, although I imagine it might be different in the summer - and in the morning availed ourselves of the breakfast buffet. Breakfast is included in the room fee, and the buffet spread wasn't lacking. Meat and cheese, fruit, juice, cereal, yogurt, and tiny glass jars of jam and honey. Fresh bread and warm croissants were brought to our table, as well as a tiny French press of coffee made to order. There was also an option to order additional hot items like eggs or beans on toast, which we didn't bother with as the buffet was plenty. Although checkout was at 11am, we were able to leave our luggage at reception until our train later that afternoon while we explored the town. The room fee was very reasonable, especially considering the historic nature of the property, the central location, and the wonderful breakfast. I can't wait to return to Oxford and stay here again!

Yelp
We were walking around, discovering Oxford, and on the way to the Turf Tavern passed this place. We walked in and we greeted warmly and given a short history of the place and a look around. We booked in for a week on our next visit to Oxford. What a lovely place to stay. Our room was well appointed and furnished, the breakfasts filling and tasty, the bar area very welcoming. What a great place to stay. Come enjoy!

Yelp
So when I needed to stay here again because everything else was full, I asked them for a room with strong internet and they put me in the room right next to the router behind the check-in desk. I had internet the whole week, so I was a very happy camper. I was also immensely pleased that they let me check in when I arrived at 12 as it was a raining and cold day. Breakfast is still lousy and every. single. coffee they gave me had a broken filter and I got nothing but grinds. I'd mention it, they'd bring me another and surprise, grinds again. I ended up making coffee in my room every day which was much better than the restaurant's.

Yelp
Overall we enjoyed our stay! Great location right on top of our favorite Oxford pub, and within easy walking distance to all the university sites. Our room (#3) was very cute and comfy, with no issues receiving the free wifi. The complimentary breakfast buffet was simple (cereal, fruit, cheese, cold meats) but adequate. The french press coffee was surprisingly good as well. (That said, I still recommend walking to The Missing Bean for a proper espresso drink.) The only negatives to report are (1) the noise from the aforementioned pub (thank heavens they close at 11:00pm) and (2) the lack of a shower in our room (only had a bath tub with movable "shower" head). All in all, we'd definitely stay here again, but make sure to get a room opposite the pub with a shower!

Yelp
Stayed here to tour Oxford. Excellent location. Super small rooms - but we didn't spend much time in them.

Yelp
Really neat B&B in a great part of Oxford. Close enough to walk everywhere in the heart of the town and around the university, but just away from the noise. Inexpensive, but wonderful breakfast and really cool historic building (be sure to check out the sign about the history of the place!).

Yelp
Our recent and third stay at the Bath Place Hotel was satisfying and inspirational. Apart from its ideal location, there's so much more - The staff was always friendly, welcoming and competent. They made us feel more like friends than as temporary hotel guests. They cared and were always responsive to all our needs. And, the charm of this 17th century structure put us in touch in a real way with the history of Oxford. It is a fine place to stay, and we recommend it for those who want to touch, feel, as well as see, this great city. Allan and Rossman, St. Paul, MN - USA
