The musical island of Gulangyu - SilverKris

"The island’s most popular stretch of sand functions as an informal performance space where visitors and residents mingle with music; one noted expat plays the melodica there regularly and the spot is emblematic of the relaxed, music-filled atmosphere that characterizes the shoreline." - Caleb Ming

Nice place to sit and watch the boats. Clean, little walking path. Cute

Small walk path but nice place. Frozen shore looks very nice on low tide. Sea Gulls was resting on the frozen water. Ripples on the water due to gusty winds looks so awesome. Nice to spend an afternoon on a bright sunny day.

Love the accessibility and affordability of this little beach (free to park, paved ramps and walkways, benches and picnic tables, and less crowded than Nantasket). There’s even a little food place open on weekends!

I never been down on the beach part but enjoy sitting at the park area. Beautiful looking out at the harbor and a wonderful breezes sitting under the trees and just relaxing. They did build a summer food place in the adjacent parking lot as well if you're interested in that.

It turned out to be a good spot for launching kayaks on a foggy June morning. Plenty of parking. Easy paddling around the little islands full of birds. Hope to go again soon.

Very nice beach to relax and sunbathe!

I have small children and was referred to Bathing Beach because of the calm waters and it was exactly that! I did not have to worry when the kids wanted to go out on the water. What I loved most was that it wasn’t crowded, it’s free parking onsite, the restrooms are clean, and there is also a snack bar if you get hungry or thirsty.

Just like the name suggests, this is a great place to sunbathe. It wouldn’t be my first choice for swimming because the water is murky and muddy and there is no shade on the beach itself. Things worth going for - free parking (some of which is shaded), there is a grassy area with grills, a nice bathroom, and the onsite restaurant has a great menu with reasonable prices!

Yelp
Hingham bathing beach is nestled in the heart of Hingham Center on the crows point side of the harbor. It is truly a breathtaking spot. During the summer there are lifeguards on duty from about 12 to 4 PM. The beach is very clean and well-kept. It's never too busy and there's always plenty of parking. Most people don't know about this place. It's actually open to the public. You do not need to be a Hingham resident to visit here. Not only that but it's actually free. Not only is the beach pristine and beautiful, the water idyllic blue and fresh and clean, but there is a green right next to the beach and it is vast and beautiful with lots of trees and picnic tables. There's lots of places to sit. There's also a snack bar with amazing food. It has lobster rolls and salads and amazing fries. This place is totally a gem. On the other side of the beach there is a beautiful knoll with lots of trees. I recommend this place for kids, for picnic Sundays, for families, anybody can come here. It is open and free to all. A wonderful place to be. Dogs are welcome here on the beach from Labor Day to memorial day. And then from Memorial Day to Labor Day they need to be on leash next to you and they're really not supposed to be on the beach when there are a lot of people around.
