Google
Really enjoyed the experience. Server was really nice and super helpful. Date night, Quebec City vacation, great restaurant choice. Khmer soup! Corn bites appetizer 😋 and the wok special and Bo lak…all wins!

Great Asian food! Very affordable

Google
An absolute must in Quebec city. I've been going there for years and I'm always surprised by the service and the quality of food. I've tried both the cantine and the restaurant and I've never been more satisfied with the service and food this restaurant provides. If you're visiting Quebec city, you must stop and try Bari Bassac.

Google
Average pad Thai and stir fry. Lychee spritz was very good. Laotian meatballs were okay but with the sauce and slaw were very good and a good portion. Very nice atmosphere although the wait for service and food was a downer

Google
Delicious Cambodian food. The prahut (fish cakes) were as good as my mom’s. The grilled skewers were also tasty. The service was great.

Google
The drinks were really good, the appetizers and main entrées as well but I thought I would be more wowed with a unique taste. I feel we can have some similar taste in a BYOB Asian restaurant.

Google
I was annoyed by the wait but the food was delicious. Don't get here too hungry for dinner because you might have some wait. Great food and nice staff. The place is rather noisy so don't pick it for a romantic date as I did. :) Nice food selection, interesting mix of ingredients.

Yelp
Great atmosphere, service was very good. Food was good but typical Thai. Everything was well made and fresh. Food did not take long to come out .

Yelp
To be honest, not the best Cambodian food I've had ((places in Tokyo and San Francisco quite memorable), however Bati Bassac had some tasty food. The Khmer soup, Pailin rolls, papaya and Bassac salads all delicious. We tried the ribs which my son devoured, the Wok of the Moment and trio of skewers. Had to finish with fried banana and vanilla ice cream. Our server was incredibly sweet and helpful. Noticed that there is a take out counter next door, in front of an open kitchen. Would dine here again or at least order to-go. A great option from the Italian/pizza and bistro food that is more omnipresent.

Yelp
Unexpectedly stopped by and glad we did. Very busy place for dine in and take out. Pad tai was some of the best I ever had. Had the fried chicken app. Basically a chicken wing, which was good. I would def return.

Yelp
Very yummy! The special cocktail was so tasty, it had yuzu and egg white, I couldn't get enough of it. The Tom kah was exactly what I wanted on a cold night and the vegetarian pad Thai was also awesome. My boyfriend said the beef was cooked perfectly.

Yelp
While traveling, we arrived late in Quebec on a rainy Saturday night and went wandering for dinner. We stumbled on Bati. They were busy and it was at the end of the last service, but they found us a place and were so warm and hospitable. The place is very modern, but comfortable. Not too too loud, great vibe there is a small bar which would be a nice choice if dining single or a casual couple. Doug who sat us spent some time asking about what we like. The entire staff was incredibly friendly. We ordered Tom yum and Thai soups, which were warm and flavorful, veggie spring rolls which were crispy and light, papaya salad which was fresh and just slightly spicy, but very nice and the Amok fish which was cooked perfectly and is a delicious blend of mild fish a light coconut curry and veggies served in a banana leaf bowl. Everything was delicious, arrived quickly and was fairly priced. We even got some great tips for local sightseeing. We can't wait to go back to try some more dishes. I highly recommend Bati Basac.

Yelp
Devine. Everything was a level above what we expected. So far this was the best meal we've had in Quebec City. The sticky rice was amazing and rivals dessert from any 5 star restaurant.

Yelp
Stopped by while we were visiting Quebec city on our way home from Halifax. The restaurant we wanted to go was closed and we were really looking for some place to eat nearby. Not sure if we should be happy about the experience. Must compliment their accommodations as we did not have reservations. The servers are really nice and professional. I wish the food was as delicious; not authentic Thai taste as all. Portion sizes are way small.

Yelp
The perfect balance between good and affordable food, balanced according to your taste. The personnel is courteous, friendly and truly committed to respecting its clientele. You won't have to break the bank either. The owner Stephane loves to prepare exotic drinks, just ask him to surprise you

Yelp
Ate at the cantine because my original plan for noodles was foiled by an ironically long line at another restaurant. The photos looked promising and concept is cute but the food didn't live up to some of the raving reviews. I'm no expert on Cambodian food but I have definitely had my fair share of Thai food. Got the sandwich with tofu that was basically all bread. There was only a tiny bit of sauce at the very bottom. Even though the first option is pork, the tofu shouldn't be flavourless since it's the exact same price. The toppings: small pineapple cubes, lettuce, carrots, a few thinly sliced pickles that didn't taste like anything, and whatever else that added nothing to the sandwich. For mains, I had the Phnom Penh that was essentially a not so great Pho and not picture worthy, neither was the $13.50 price. The broth was a bit greasy (had to squeeze the lime for every drop then throw the whole thing in the bowl too), bean sprouts were raw and the noodles were finished in, at the most, 5 spoonfuls. Only positive was the 3 shrimps. Last dish was the Pad Singapore drowning in sauce and spicy even though it wasn't labelled as such on the menu I got inside. This might be good food for those who are inexperienced but not for people who know authentic Asian cuisine. I gave 2 stars because the very nice waitress with the cute tooth gap was absolutely wonderful.

Yelp
Positive points: - great service, very friendly - good cocktails - good deals for 2 people - portion sizes are not too big The food itself is decent, nice flavours but not the best I've ever had. KaowPiak soup was delicious, fried wontons and pork imperial rolls also tasty. We had the Tao which was only okay (wouldn't recommend) and the Amok which was quite flavourful (recommend). If you don't do the Table d'Hote then I would skip the dessert. If you get tea it comes in a teapot with cute tiny mugs. I would go back to try other things on the menu!

Yelp
Away from the tourists- such an amazing meal. Pad Thai best ever had. Grilled kabobs fantastic . Corn balls? I think they were called - yummy

Yelp
This was our favorite restaurant in Quebec when we visited. My family doesn't like buttery, creamy food so this place was perfect. The food was great and pretty authentic. The decorations are pretty cool.

Yelp
Honestly, 0 stars all around. I'm REALLY disappointed. Food cost twice what we expected, took genuinely a full hour to arrive, was presented to us as "red curry and pad Thai" which is what we ordered... but neither dish resembled any curry or pad Thai either of us had ever had anywhere. The pad Thai was like noodles with a watery, flavorless peanut sauce, and the red curry tasted fine, but certainly was not a curry. Neither dish was hot, and clearly had been made a while before. We finished eating and waited for the wait staff to offer the cheque/desserts but no one came. I walked to the counter and asked for the cheque, we waited about 15 minutes to no avail, so I tried again. Weirdest part (aside from the outrageous price, poor service, cold, bland food and our items being 'as requested' but simply not what they're supposed to be) was that the place was only about 80% full and there were a lot of waitresses about. Thankfully I don't live anywhere near here and will never be back again... because if I have to wait an hour to get the worst pad Thai I've ever had, and pay $22 for it, I'd rather go without food.

Yelp
The people who don't like this place are bonkers. Best meal I've ever had in QC. Recommend the amok and kmher.

Yelp
Imagine our delight - we were just walking around the neighborhood of our hotel upon arrival to get oriented and we came upon Bati Bassak! The very attentive wait staff helped us with our choices of curried soup with vermicelli shrimp and the varied brochettes. We were delighted to feast in this little corner representing the rich diversity of Quebec

Yelp
Love this place. Definitely the best asian food in the city. Love the vibe and staff is amazing.

Yelp
Amazing Cambodian/Thai restaurant. They are willing to accommodate vegetarians without any problem. The food is excellent. Here are the appetizers we tried and loved: lemongrass doughnuts, and fresh summer rolls (pailin rolls). We also tried the Khmer dish vegetarian, and another whose name I can't remember. Don't miss the special margarita! To boot, the ambiance and service are fantastic as well. Worth a try if you are in Quebec City.

Yelp
Good to very good Thai /Cambodian cuisine. Take out and patio service available adjacent to main restaurant. Reasonably priced, good portions and flavorful choices.

Yelp
Amazing food, ambiance and overall experience! We found this spot by accident after not being allowed in into a restaurant we originally wanted to go because we had a 9 month old baby with us. So we strolled down the street and were lured right to the entrance of this restaurant by yummy aromas that were coming out of it. Our noses did not disappoint us. The meal was delicious! I had Le Bassac and my husband had Loc Lac and a glass of nice red wine. The service was excellent! The waiters were very friendly and understanding. For dessert we had apple doughnuts with vanilla ice cream. At first you may be surprised to see small little nuggets served to you on a mini plate. But oh my gosh! They were the most delicious doughnuts I ever tasted with hint of coconut. More than enough to satisfy sweet tooth craving. Again, thank you so much Bati Bassac team for this fine dining experience with a baby on our hands P.S: the baby loved the vibe of the place and danced to the music that whole time!

Yelp
Moseyed in here for lunch today and I was so happy I did! I had the 3 course lunch special for $13: a simple lemon, rice and chicken soup, a light but filling vermicelli bowl with lobster and chicken and an imperial roll, and tea and a dessert. The flavours were fresh, light and simple. Nutty and not oily - I'm not an expert in Cambodian food but this dish was flagged as one of their house specialties and it tasted subtle and bright and good to me. The service was friendly and bilingual - semi-uncommon here in Quebec City - and the room was small, comfortable, elegant, casual and clean. Full but no line for a weekday lunch and a chill, tasty choice for dinner too I'm sure. Glad to have found my way here!!

Yelp
Our taxi driver said this was the best Thai food in town. It's in the lower part of Quebec City- not the old part. It was Thai and Cambodian. The service was good and they do have a menu in English which helps. We thought it was ok. But I'd probably try a place with more local cuisine since we have a lot of Thai food where we live.

Yelp
I"m a huge fan of Cambodian food, so I was excited to eat here during a short visit. To start, we had the sakoo soup and imperial shrimp. The soup included fresh shitake mushrooms and bamboo shoots both of which brought natural sweeetnes while the broth was rich, tangy, and spicy. The shrimp were wrapped in wonton skins then deep fried and served with a sweet and sour sauce. The shrimp were fresh and well cooked, but not that memorable. For mains, we had the shrimp baylon and amok. The baylon was a solid stir-fry with lots of fresh vegetables flavored with lots of ginger. However, the show-stopper was the amok. The first time I had amok, I was blown away by the flavor and texture. Sadly that restaurant closed and have been looking for it ever since. This is only the second time that I've had it since the restaurant in my neighborhood closed and now I miss it even more. The sauce is a paste of ginger, lemongrass, kaffir lime leaf, and chili pepper that's been stir-fried. Then coconut cream is added to it to thicken and sweeten the sauce. After it's been cooked down a bit, it covers the fish that are waiting in a bowl made of banana leaves. This is then steamed until the fish is perfectly cooked. The banana leaf imparts an earthiness to the sauce that really complements the sweetness of the fish. This is the iconic dish of Cambodia for a reason, and this rendition was fantastic.

Yelp
Great place for homemade cocktails, creative and delicious cuisine, and good bar conversation. The staff was exceptionally kind and welcoming. Wish we could have had time to come back. Try the meatballs and the Bamboo Sour!

Yelp
My girlfriend and I can't speak highly enough about our experience! As American tourists, this is the most welcome we've felt in any restaurant in Québec! The host was extremely polite and personable and spoke perfect English. Our waitress was also very courteous and asked how we were liking the city! I had the street style Pad Thai and it was the best I've ever had! My girlfriend had the Saolin' Beef, which she also enjoyed - just like Thai food should be: sweet and salty and not too spicy!! The restaurant also offers a great deal where you get soup, an app, your entree, dessert and a hot beverage. Should we ever find ourselves in Québec City again, we will definitely be visiting Bati Bassac first! This is, hands down, the easiest five-star review that I have ever given a restaurant!

Yelp
My boyfriend and I went here last night after hearing a recommendation for it from a bartender. We also love Asian food, specifically Thai, and after living in Lowell, MA which has a high immigrant population we're used to some pretty flavorful and amazing food in this arena. This was not that. Skip it when you come to QC. The food was not authentic in any regard and we were highly disappointed. My boyfriend got a Thai curry that he said tasted as if someone had poured HI-C all over it. My food was incredibly plain- I'm pretty sure salt wasn't even used, and the sauce tasted like watered down tomatoes with thick pieces of ginger thrown in there. I'm getting pretty sick of what appear to be higher-end restaurants trying to sell ~ethnic~ food to white populations only to produce inauthentic, bland crap. Our waiters were Cambodian so they must have known the food isn't authentic, and that makes me sorry they have to serve it. Anyways, I can get a meal that's 10x better back home for at least half the price. Skip this and come to Lowell for authentic flavorful Asian dishes! :)

Yelp
Service at lunch was very good. We thought the flavors of the soup, vermicelli bowl, and the stir fry were very good. I preferred the pudding to the fried apple doughnut. As a whole it was just the right amount of food for lunch. I would have been happy to see a little more protein in the dishes and the veggies in the stir fry looked more stewed than stir-fried.

Yelp
Please don't even think of eating here. Frozen vegetables, poor shrimp - tasted like they were old and frozen - definitely not fresh. ...and a syrupy sweet red curry sauce that tasted like something that came out of a bag. This is very sad food. Reminds me of a Thai TV dinner! Not sure why others find this restaurant amazing but for us it was a bad experience. I hope they change there methods I'll be glad to Revise.

Yelp
Was a little nervous based on yelps ratings. Other apps had it rated higher so we decided to give it a try. We were not disappointed. Service was excellent, food was authentic tasting and delicious. Curry pad Thai was outstanding. Shrimp curry, and Thai curry soup were big hits.

Yelp
I made a reservation online two weeks in advanced of a holiday trip, and when we showed up to the restaurant for our reservation, they were closed. It would have been decent of the staff to let us know that they could not accommodate our reservation, they had more than a week to let us know. Instead, we were left out in the cold with nowhere to go. Extremely rude.

Yelp
The atmosphere strikes you as soon as you enter this fine establishment. Friendly and professional staff welcome you in perfect French or English depending on your preference, and then after ordering presents you with a tasteful plate of good eats. The vegan/veggie options are limited, but not wasted, the few things to choose from are worth the trip nonetheless. Be warned however, if you like wine with your meal, bring your own, or you'll have to run two blocks down the street to pick some up.

Yelp
Good food and taste was great as well. The curry pad that was good. I could hardly find any shrimp. Inside though but there was tonnes of tofu. Average price per entrée is around $15 so I would expect some decent amount of protein. Service is good. The place is super busy and hard to get a seat without reservations on a weekend.
