"Swoops of smooth, scarlet earth overlook Dominica’s northeast coast near Calibishie. At Point Baptiste, a mile-long coral reef protects the seashore, creating a calm lagoon. Farther down the coast, however, the Atlantic erodes and slaps waves high onto the dramatic headland. If you visit Point Baptiste Beach, know that a caretaker sometimes requests a donation from foreigners. Still, it’s a small price to pay for exploring this spectacular landscape of black sand, red rock, and splendid mountain views, which are especially beautiful at dusk."

What a place! The beach is absolutely stunning and clean. The fee is used to keep the beach as beautiful as it is. The highlight though is Irma, who cooks absolutely delicious food right on the beach and fights for the beach to stay as it is. We sincerely hope the beach doesn't get destroyed by mass tourism and keeps its natural beauty. Thank you for fighting for it!

Wow! We came to Batibou expecting to only spend an hour here before going to a restaurant to eat. We ended up staying for 5 hours. A short drive down a rough 4x4 road allows you to park right on the beach. The clearly marked fee of $5 usd can be paid to the security people where you park. They provide a rundown of safety considerations like where to swim, and to avoid falling coconuts. Apparently it was a super busy day on Easter Sunday so we shared the beach with about 12 other people LOL. How is this beach so uncrowded? The people maintaining the beach and the women working the beach bar are all super friendly, and they do a great job maintaining the beach. Incredible beach, I'm not sure it can get much better. Clear water, great sand, shady palm trees. To top it all off, the food is good too. They cook using a coconut husk fire, which provides the ribs, fish, and pork with a great sweet Smokey flavor. It's served on wooden plates and banana leaves. They also have a good selection of drinks and rum concoctions. This was a great way to spend our last full day in Dominica.

The most beautiful beach I have ever been too!!!!! The restaurant and bar were never open. It's a $5 American dollar charge per person. If you park at the top it's about a 15min walk on rocks or if your car can make it down I recommend that. They have a shower and the toilets were pretty nasty.

One of the best culinary experiences in Dominica. The Batibou beach is beautiful with few visitors especially in the morning. You have to pay a 5 US$ per person entrance fee which is used for cleaning the beach and maintenance (the area is private land). Around midday they open the grill bar where they prepare on the spot some awsome rich tasting food (be prepared for some wait preparation time). Don't miss out the homemade ice-cream!

Batibou Beach – A Hidden Gem in Dominica I arrived at Batibou Beach by minibus, which dropped me off right in front of the trail leading down to the beach. The walk takes about 15 minutes, and the path can be muddy and slippery, so I highly recommend wearing proper shoes, like sneakers. Once you reach the entrance, a friendly guard will welcome you, provide some information about the beach rules—such as keeping the area clean and avoiding sitting under coconut trees—and collect the entrance fee (either $5 USD or €5). Now, onto the beach itself—one of the most scenic I have ever seen. Standing in the warm, crystal-clear water and looking back at the shore, you’re greeted by a breathtaking view of the jungle, filled with towering palm and coconut trees. It’s truly exceptional. There were fewer than 10 people during my entire visit, allowing me to fully enjoy the peaceful atmosphere and connect with the surroundings. Bonus: Irma and her friends offer a delicious homemade meal—either fish or chicken—served on a leaf, along with freshly cut coconuts. Some reviews mention the price being high, but honestly, it’s a luxury to enjoy such a flavorful meal with a stunning ocean view in such a tranquil setting. In short: I highly recommend this beach 💯! But please respect the place—take your trash with you so this paradise remains pristine for future generations.

First of all ,for those who cant read very long, here’s what your gonna get at Batibou; the best beach on Dominica island and # 14 in the top 16 best beaches in the Caribbean according to Explorers Away. Batibou beach is a pristine wilderness paradise. You’ll also get the best food on the island (by far!). In comparison, my gf and I have been all around the island and the meals we’ve enjoyed at Batibou beach were divine. Prepared fresh and with passion by culinary cher Irma in the kitchen and drinks locally brewed and served cold by Jacqueline. These two sisters show up every day at tiki bar for customers. Hint, lunch is served from 2-6pm. When you pay your entrance fee, advise admission you want to eat, you must reserve same day but early enough so that the kitchen can prepare portions accordingly. To get to Batibou beach you can take the 10 min hike down or drive your 4x4 if you have off road skills. When we left the beach at sunset, the trail leading back up to our rental car was filled with thousands of fireflies. A scene right out of Avatar and an unforgettable moment. This probably depends on time of year, for us was early April. For those that can read a bit further, here’s why its still wild and beautiful. Its a private land owned by conservationists. Yes you will have to pay 5 American dollars to spend the day there. You know why? To maintain the place and keep it wild. Irma and Jacqueline ( two of the owners of the land) are fighting to keep the place unspoiled. Private investors and the local government would gladly pour concrete all over this place and build a giant resort if they could. But like spartan warriors holding the hot gates, they resist selling to keep the raw beauty of this place. To me the value of a country and its people is not only what they create and export, but mostly what they refuse to destroy. I strongly think that the government of Dominica and the locals have a lot to learn from Irma and Jacqueline. If they destroy the natural beauty of Dominica, they will destroy the long term value of the island forever. Travellers go to the island for its nature. This country can easily become the next Costa Rica if tourism and development is managed correctly. Otherwise, it will just become another polluted tourist destination. I love this place and i hope i can return many years from now and see that the essence and spirit of the place is still intact. Like they say ; take only memories , leave only footsteps. Enjoy!

Beautiful beach with an awesome meal ! You can access by car to the front, don’t need to park your car on the top of the hill. The access of the beach is about 13 EC per pers because is a private territory, but believe be, it worth it ! You can eat on the beach, freely with your own food or at the restaurant of the beach.

Take the trip to Batibou. Irma is as real as they come and takes hospitality very seriously, in the most fun way. Their beach is stunning, her food creations are wonderful, and you'll be invited to hang out and stay a while. She also makes the best ice cream I've ever had.
