Went in a group on this tour, stumbled upon this wonderful shop on our latest days in Bali after a two weeks of touring all over the island. Detailed directions on how fatigue is created as well as a hand out of the same. We saw different examples of the material in different phases of completion. This rustic establishment has a long history, and sells genuine batik in their own original designs. They also sell the best of the best of Balinese ikat. Unlike other stores that sell fabric in batik patterns, this shop sells the real thing, one touch of the fabric and you can still feel a tiny bit of the wax in the finish. The store offered many, many different batik items to be purchased, summer clothing. They also sell a full range of accessories, and made up clothes from the fabled fabric. Things sold here are not cheap, nor should they be. The difference between the printed batik and this traditional batik is immediately obvious. You'll see patterns and designs, both modern and traditional that are so vivid, so alive. One reason for this is that this is a handmade product, and the small imperfections give the fabric a character all it's own.
Even if you can't afford this, at least give yourself a chance to see, feel, and experience the real thing. An half an hour stop definitely worth visiting.
