3 enchanting day trips in the south of London for the curious traveller - SilverKris
"A compact local museum that complements visits to the historic battlefield and abbey by focusing on the town's storied past and regional heritage." - Demi Perera
Although the Abbey is a big draw for visitors to Battle, the museum has a big focus on what happened in 1066. The exhibition contains a very detailed copy of the original tapestry from Bayeux. So is a much better experience to learn about the death of the last Saxon king.

What a wonderful little gem in Battle - the volunteer staff are incredibly knowledgeable and they have a great variety of exhibits and artifacts. It’s free, and certainly worth a donation to help keep the lights on. As a bonus, go through the garden to the back of the Almonry to see courtyard and you’ll find a very clean and quiet WC.

One of the best experiences I’ve had at any museum. Staff so welcoming and took the time to explain everything I wanted to know. Staff passionate and knowledgeable on all subjects. Museum has original 1066 Axe head.

Awesome little museum, full of local treasures, there's a wealth of history in the area and they've got a lot of it here, there's lots of information available, guiding you through the ages and it's free!! The people who run the museum are lovely and very helpful, this museum relies on donations and it's definitely worth it.

Worth a visit if you’re in Battle and it’s free. Very helpful volunteers and interesting information about the Battle of Hastings and what’s thought to be the only artefact found from the battle.

It's a local museum, staffed by volunteers and is free (although, please do give a donation). Exhibits chart the history of Battle from prehistory to the present day. If you're visiting Battle Abbey, I really recommend walking five minutes up the high street to see it
