14 Best Museums in Singapore | Condé Nast Traveler

"Located in Fort Canning Park, the Battlebox is an underground bunker/command center from the Second World War turned one-of-a-kind museum. The Malaya Command was headquartered here while defending Malaya and Singapore against the Japanese during the war. Most notably, it was in this bunker that the British ultimately surrendered Singapore to the invading Japanese forces on February 15, 1942—a fateful day that would change Singapore history forever." - Ashlea Halpern

A fantastic place with a strong wartime atmosphere. The experience is enhanced by an immersive short film that really brings the setting to life. What makes it even better is that admission is completely free—which is amazing for such a high-quality attraction! Just remember to make a reservation online in advance.

Ver well preserved. Was impressed to see the place. I didn’t know about this place until I was looking at the map and the tunnel ad. There is rich history about this place. There is choice for free and buy tickets. Purchased ticket get the audio and two special rooms.

Wonderful and unique museum in which we were able to go into the bunker itself and experience the tight spaces and musty walls. Filled with exhibition pieces and information boards. Great place to learn about and "feel" the war upclose.

Very interesting look back at Singapore history. Best to book a ticket online before arriving even if you intend to walk around for free ,which is available, you still need to pre book. Bring some cash as the place runs on donations and the staff are very friendly and informative.

A truly unique experience that allow to fully feel the atmosphere of a fighting WWII fortress. I was truly amazed to see how many historical, original exhibits, documents and artifacts have survived eight decades, but then one must remember that the first has-been surrendered by the coward at the British command to Japanese without any fight. Access is by pre-scheduled online appointment and online ticket purchase via Klook with limited slots per hour.

Great historical site with immersive experience. Battlebox is located inside Fort Canning park and was used during WW2 before the fall of Singapore. The site has done a great job preserving the space while modifying it for visitors comfort (full AC, easy to follow map, photos and English signage and stories). The wax statues are also of great quality and you can definitely feel “spooked” at times thinking you just saw a real person. Advance reservation is required and book up fast so plan ahead of time. One thing for improvement is the audio guide, I didn’t realize they have one until I saw other guests and by then it was too late to go back to the check in site (a few minutes walk away). If you like history, this is a must visit site when you are in Singapore

Loved learning about the past of Singapore and this underground tunnel was a must visit for me. Learn about WWII and where the events took place leading up to General Percival’s surrender to the Japanese. Take a peek into how it must have been back then in the bunker… but now you’ve got great air conditioning in there so thankfully you don’t get the full experience of how uncomfortable it must have been. Some places feel a bit eerie, especially the walkway to one of the exit hatches where you could look up and see how you were many floors underground. Definitely a stop for WW2 enthusiasts to learn more about other events which they may not have heard of. Don’t miss the propaganda posters, those were fun to look at too. Pay a bit more for the full experience if you’re interested in history.

An interesting piece of WW2 history in the Battle for Singapore and it's surrender by British forces to the Imperial Japanese Army. Entry is free of charge but do book your entry day and time in advance online. 'Enhanced' tour tickets with an audio guide are also available for a fee. I did the basic free entry and it was fine. A tour, if you are reading the information boards, takes about 40 minutes. It opens at 10am. Located in Fort Canning Park you can enjoy a walk in the park also before or after your Battlebox visit.
