Batton Clayworks

My fiancé and I recently took a pottery class, and it was an unforgettable experience! The instructor was incredibly patient and knowledgeable, guiding us through each step with ease. We loved getting our hands dirty and creating something unique together—it was the perfect blend of fun and creativity. The atmosphere was relaxed, and we both felt comfortable exploring our artistic sides. Plus, we get to bring home our finished pieces as a special keepsake of our day. Highly recommend this class for couples looking for a creative and memorable date!

We had a corporate group of 9 people in Ashville for 9 people and had to reschedule an activity last minute (like 24 hours before) so we were scrambling to find options. I called and explained the situation and Sunny & Ann were able to accommodate us without hesitation. The class was GREAT! Nothing about it felt thrown together or last minute. It was so well executed, catered to all of our skills and interest levels and most of all was FUN! Additionally they were great instructors- encouraging us along the way, and just making us all feel comfortable. Can’t recommend them enough!

Had a great time learning skills to make beautiful pottery !! Patient , friendly instructor . Felt very safe as all socially distant practices were in place during our time at this open air studio . Can’t wait to get my 4 pieces back from the kiln !

Batton Clayworks is must-do when visiting Asheville! We found Batton Clayworks private pottery lesson in a quick Google search and it ended up being the highlight of our trip! Sandy and Anne were both friendly and welcoming. Throughout our lesson, Sandy was patient and kind. We came in with a curious spirit and left with an appreciation for their incredible artistry. Overall we had a playful time and enjoyed making pottery!

We had a fantastic time at Batton Clayworks. The instructor was so easy to work with and made the class super enjoyable and easy to follow. We loved creating our own unique pieces and can’t wait to do it again. Highly recommend!

My friend and I had a lesson with Sandy today. We had so much fun in a beautiful studio!! If you are looking for an intro to pottery but not ready to commit the time and money to a weeks long class this is the perfect place to start! Sandy was a calm, kind and exceptional teacher! So helpful and knowledgeable and committed to helping us succeed. We left with a new respect for potters and excited to receive our finished pieces. Thank you, Sandy!

I had the best time in my class. Sandy was such a patient teacher and clearly wanted me to have a great time, learn something and make the pottery I made exactly what I wanted. I would highly recommend taking a class. I actually received the class as a gift from my family. so fun!
