I live up in the UP but a group of us try to get here a couple times a year. The food is amazing, everything is cooked to perfection and seasoned well. It is a bit expensive but worth every penny. The staff is friendly and courteous, serving up classic German fare. If you're looking to just wet your whistle, they have a well stocked bar and you can even order a LITER of beer! They also do hot apple cinnamon drinks that are perfect dinner drinks. The salad bar which comes with most if not all dinners has a wide range to suit whatever your fancy is in a salad. The wait time can be a little long at times, but bring a friend and socialize!

I had the black forest tips with a side of spatzel. We loved the salad bar. They have cut out someone the things on the salad bar and the soup. No longer do they serve prime rib. Everything was delicious.

Google
I just wish they had an option to accept credit card. Other than that, loved the experience and first time eating Schnitzel (pictured her), very good flavor and crunch. Fresh tasting salad bar at no extra charge was my favorite aspect of dining here.

Google
Freshest salad bar I've ever had! I had the smoked ham with saurkraut and spätzle and my husband had the breaded veal with mushroom gravy and saurkraut. We also had shrimp cocktail, which was also good! Service was excellent as well as the wine and cocktails!! This place will not disappoint!!!!

Google
Great salad bar. The old fashions were good. My tenderloin was cooked well. Service was good. A nice supper club feel. I will return

We were seated immediately, and the service was outstanding. The food was very delicious. It is a cash only restaurant which was fine with us. If you get a chance, you need to go and try them out. We will be going.

Best Chicken cordon bleu I've ever had. What a great place.

Yelp
Authentic German/American restaurant serving many great German meals. (And normal supper club choices, like steak and seafood too!) Going through some outdoor renovations right now, so don't judge the book by its cover. Inside this is a cute, well decorated German themed bar and restaurant. Bartenders are friendly and they have a full list of martinis and other specialty drinks to choice from (my wife loved her Lemon Drop Martini) including many after-dinner ice cream drinks! As far as German food, I didn't know that there were so many ways to make Schnitzel! My wife and I both ordered the Schnitzel Trio, which included a regular veal schnitzel, one with asparagus and Holliday Sauce and another called the Black Forrest. I liked them all, but would have to say the plain old regular one was my favorite. Dinners include a well stocked build your own salad bar. All meals also came with a choice of side which included sauerkraut, spatzel or potato. Meal was great, had fun at the bar with the locals and loved the service. Cash only however!

Delicious food with wonderful wait staff. Bartender (owner) is very welcoming and helpful.

Yelp
This was my first visit to the Bavarian Inn in over 40 years. Arriving at 5:30 on a Saturday the place was packed already...that's a good sign! It took a bit of time to get a place to sit and wait for a table, and a short wait for a drink...once we were seated in the dining room we got to see why it was so busy! Awesome salad bar and our meals were excellent! I tried the Schnitzel combo plate and would recommend! Nice menu with many German specialty dishes. Hard working friendly staff. I can't wait to go back!

Yelp
Salad bar was nice, small, compact but tasty. The ribs and steak were dried out and tough, both not enjoyed but the fish and seafood plates made up for this

Yelp
Great spot for German beer and a meal. Excellent service. Nice salad bar that sometimes includes amazing creamy tomato soup. My go to meal is grilled salmon with spatzl. When you arrive, sit at the bar and ask for a menu. The server will take your order while at the bar and seat you a little later.

Yelp
This place is the real deal; Bavarian Supper club on the way to the north woods! Get off Rt 141 and go west to the main intersection of old Rt 141. Exterior is a little worn but inside is immaculately clean and full of Bavarian charm! The Old Fashions are delicious and the Hacker beers on tap are a perfect addition to German Supper Club food. We had Jager Schnitzel, Veal Cordon Swiss and spaetzle. Nicely done. Classic supper club salad bar, homemade beef barley soup.....and we were stuffed! But we'll be back! The ice cream drinks look tempting. Service was top notch!

Yelp
We love German food. Our favorite place near Shawano closed in the last few years, so we were excited to find somewhere that seemed legit. To start, the outside looks real rough. The inside was cute except for some carpeting that looked a little worse for wear. But I can look past a run-down exterior/interior. It's the food that earned this place two stars from me. The Bavarian schnitzel didn't have a whole lot of flavor, the spaetzle tasted doughy and required additional salt, the salad bar was.... Salad. and the red cabbage was some of the worst I've had (think mouthful of vinegar). The search for a new go-to German restaurant continues!

Yelp
My daughter and I were here for Valentines Day. Right away I noticed the full array of Munich driven Hacker-Pschorr beer, on tap. The 30 minute drive was rewarded by a Salmon filet and a 16oz Tenderloin. The Salad bar was delicious as well as clean. The soups were Beef Barley and Cream of Mushroom. When I return I will go toward the Schnitzel options and pure German delights. If you are going north on hey 141, consider stopping here for a pleasant experience. The Bavarian Inn is obviously the local favorite. I will return and most likely push my review up to a 5 Star. I need more of this place to do it justice. Comfortable atmosphere, good food and a solid bar. Lena has a great supper club.

Yelp
If you don't know your side when ordering - watch out because the server will bite your head off. The worst service I have ever experienced.

Trenton T.

Yelp
Great place for food and German beer around NE Wisconsin. As close as you can get to Germany in our small community.

Marc G.

Yelp
I can't believe this is happening to poor old Jim. Prices are through the roof and menu is losing more items than people. Remember to bring your dogs.

Yelp
Place is clean. Parking is limited. Service was great. You have to pay cash, plastic not accepted. Best cream of tomato that I ever had. Soup and salad buffet comes with entree.

Yelp
Cash only, I have little to say that is new compared to what others have said. This is a nice, and very charming supper club with great Schnitzels, a large and fresh soup and salad bar, and a nice selection of Hacker Pschorr Bier on tap. While the outside is pretty unassuming, the mural, interior, and great service are memorable and the portions are hearty.

Yelp
Great food and friendly bartender but bring cash - no credit cards!! Big drawback in this day and age...not accepting credit or debit cards. Add another dollar to the entrees and start taking credit cards.

Yelp
Salmon dry not much flavor same with the asparagus but our waitress was great but won't go back my date had shrimp mostly breading

Jon B.

Yelp
I love the idea of this place and it sounded good. Sat at the bar, ordered a drink, and asked for menus to order food. Sat there nursing my cocktail while I waited for the waitress to take our order. I sat there for 45 minutes with the number in front of me waiting for my order to be taken. Then I noticed the waitress serving people that came in after us. I asked to close out after that. Bartender didn't even acknowledge the fact that it took an hour before I asked to close out and had to go somewhere else. What a waste of time.

Yelp
This restaurant has been one of my favorites as long as I can remember and is always my family's top choice for birthday dinners and celebrations of all sorts. I've never been disappointed with the food. I usually stick to steak as it is so incredibly good here, but have gotten the Alfredo and loved it. The salad and bar is always fantastic. Some of my favorite items here are the spinach dip (which I can never get enough of) the cream of tomato soup (which is just one of their amazing soups) chocolate lava cake and of course the steak! I've head several cuts of meat here and have been impressed with them all. The service is also always fantastic from both the bartenders and waitstaff. I really can't find anything to complain about as everything is so fantastic here!!

Yelp
A German themed supper club how can you even attempt to go wrong? I was excited to get a Hacker Pschorr because they make some of my favorite beer. Cheap, cheap beer and drinks at this place. They even offer martini's for $4.50. End you meal with a traditional supper club favorite a grasshopper ice cream drink! Now the ambiance in this place is straight up old world charm. My mom said the place has not really changed in 30 years but something about that makes it special. The have the BEST salad bar. Two soups on the salad bar chicken noodle and broccoli cheese. I had a small cup of the broccoli and it was tasty. The salad bar also included salads, cheese spread and dinner rolls. I of course tried it all and was almost too full to eat my main meal. That texas toast with cheese spread was to die for. My main meal was the bavarian weiner schnitzel. It was your normal pork cutlet breaded but it was topped with asparagus and hollandaise sauce. I could only manage to eat half of it as it was super rich and filling. Yey, left overs! They also had a side of red cabbage that tasted like sauerkraut. I enjoyed it but my husband did not. Overall you need to come to Lena to come here at least once in your life. I mean german beer on tap and the salad bar alone are worth it. I told the bartender I was moving in.

Yelp
1. Service was great 2. Atmosphere was great. 3. Pork Loin, tough and dry, 4. Only one small dumpling was served. A little over one inch in diameter. Portions were less than 20% of that served in Germany and the Czech Republic 5. Sauerkraut helping was also very stingy. 6. Required to order and pay for supplemental dumplings and sauerkraut. 7. Another person in our party ordered a Rueben Sandwich and they were not disappointed.

Yelp
By far the most flavorful steak in area. Family owned supper club- truly Wisconsin style experience! Bring cash- no credit cards- has ATM. Great bar, German beer on tap, excellent veal dishes- known for German menu.

Sandy K.

Yelp
Okay, the salad bar was excellent including the liver pate. The service was excellent too! But... German food? Not quite. The Oscar schnitzel was served with imitation crab and the hollandaise sauce looked more like thick turkey gravy...certainly not hollandaise sauce and it did not taste like hollandaise sauce. The spaetzle was definitely not "spaetzlle" but small dumplings. I am German and I do know what these should taste and look like. And..... is this the only restaurant left that takes cash and checks? only??? For the cost of our dinner I would expect real German food Really disappointed as i was treating a family friend for her birthday

Maguire C.

Yelp
Not impressed! The place had a ton of empty tables and seats at the bar when we walked in. The person behind the bar said the wait was 20 minutes and we could not take a seat by the bar to eat. Never going to stop there again!!

Yelp
I was talking to a few customers that said they drive for over an hour to eat here. I used to live nearby, but now I find myself driving for the food too. Every dish I have tried has been amazing, something I cannot say about many restaurants. This is one of Wisconsin's amazing supper clubs.

Deb G.

Yelp
Good drinks, nice salad bar, cream of tomato soup on salad bar was very good. Steaks were cooked as ordered, seafood done very well. German food was authentic tasting.

Yelp
This is a excellent place to eat. The food is great but the salad bar is just wonderful. The owner Jim is always there with a smile and friendly conversation. It's a nice ride up north and a great place to eat.

Yelp
If you enjoy supporting locally owned businesses that sell great food, you'll love this place. Very good salad bar (with herring!). Great wiener schnitzel. And the service was pretty amazing. We live in Green Bay and this place is well worth the half hour drive.

Yelp
If you want the best German food in Wisconsin this is the place to go. We have been eating there for over 10 years. The owners are the nicest people you will ever meet. Excellent prices and large portions. Hacker-Pschorr beer on tap. Can't go wrong at The Bavarian Inn!
