This location is truly amazing and absolutely a gem. We came here to enjoy a drink and it was a great experience. They had a piano bar in the basement and it was cozy and themed and just all around a cool environment. We will definitely be returning again in the future to explore more things this property has to offer!

Excellent place for fine dining or just to grab an appetizer and cocktail! I can personally vouch for their old fashions. I simply have yet to have another like theirs anywhere in and out of the country. Enjoy a relaxing evening outside by the fire as well on the weekends. Whatever your reasoning for coming here. You will not be disappointed!

Enjoyed a great lunch with my wife. I ordered the vegetable pasta and she had the Reuben. CJ was our server and he did a great job. Our water glasses were always filled. Can't wait to get back and try the dinner menu.

We stayed in a Manor View Premier room in the Schwarzwald Building. It was so charming and cute. Since we went in November, it was chilly and the fire place in the room made it so cozy. I noticed some people commenting on the cleanliness.Even though the rooms are older, as expected, our room was clean. ||All of the staff that we interacted with were very kind and friendly. Check in and out was quick and efficient. ||We had drinks at both bars, the cocktails were great and the bartenders attentive despite being busy. We had dinner in the brewpub section of the dining area. (Make reservations if you want to make sure you get a seat) Our server, Sarah D, was so great! She gave great recommendations and took great care of us. The food was delicious. We ordered way more than needed but we wanted to try it all. Wild boar, fried goat cheese, braised rabbit, and jaegerschnitzel. ||Overall we had a wonderful time and it’s definitely worth going at least for a night to check out this unique experience!

The Bavarian Inn turned our wedding dreams into reality. We rented the Potomac Room and Highgrove Courtyard, which was simply breathtaking and provided the perfect backdrop for our special day. Kaitlyn and her staff were incredibly accommodating and went above and beyond to ensure everything ran smoothly. I remained in constant communication with Kaitlyn and she answered all of my questions throughout the entire process. The food was absolutely delicious, and the atmosphere was pure magic. After our wedding, we could not help but go back to how our best decision during the planning process was booking with The Bavarian. We'll forever cherish the memories we made that weekend, and can’t wait to return for anniversaries to come.

I ate brunch with my family here. The property is very nice and the restaurant is beautiful. However I thought the food would be better. Nothing was terrible but for being a high end restaurant, I expected better. Service took a while and the steak was over cooked. Everyone had finished eating by the time they replaced the steak. I was very upset with the service we received and don't plan on another visit. I thought you get what you pay for but in this case I feel ripped off.

Our stay at the Bavarian Inns was a much-needed winter escape. Arriving to the property we were excited to see the German style building and friendly staff. We stayed in the Mansion Suite with is in the same building as the brewery / reception. The layout was perfect with separate living and bedroom. Shout out to having a noise machine in case the brewery was too loud or there was an event. Personally, I can’t sleep without sound, and I loved that touch. We actually decided upon this stay based on their restaurant menu and it did not disappoint. We had many authentic German dishes and refreshing beer and cocktails. The staff was super professional and added charm to our stay. The continental breakfast was top notch, I enjoyed the charcuterie and pastries. 10/10 Follow us on youtube @PatsyAndJakesAdventures

My wife and I were looking forward to returning to the Bavarian Inn once again because our previous visit had been a wonderful experience. While the food and service continued to be excellent, our room was very disappointing. As had been the case on our previous visit, we reserved a Potomac View Premier room. The room was very worn out. The carpet was stained and looked dirty. There were several dead flies in the bathroom. The furniture appeared old and showed lots of wear and tear. We do not mind spending hundreds of dollars for an upscale room as we did for our room, but this particular room fell far short of upscale and was not worth what we paid. Based on this experience, we are not sure if we will return to the Bavarian Inn for an overnight stay despite the great food and service.

Yelp
We made lunch reservations on Christmas Day for a party of 4. The restaurant and pub area are very cozy and both areas were beautifully decorated. They sat us right away and handed us a prix fixe, 4-course menu. Unfortunately, they didn't inform us of that when we made our reservations, but we probably should have assumed since it was Christmas Day. They offered 2 menus: one at $75/pp and a "Christmas Dinner" at $65/pp. The portions were decent and the food was decent - but I wouldn't describe the meal as exceptional. Our waiter, Alex, was exceptional. He was extremely attentive, very kind, and knowledgeable. I wouldn't write this place off, but it's not top of my list. I felt it was pretty pricey for the quality of the meal. Overall, very nice 4 out of 5 star restaurant.

Yelp
My husband and I had an Amazing night stay and dinner at the inn. I got a delicious German dinner. .

Yelp
We used to come to the BI for good dinners and special occasions. It's sad to see that food quality has gone down lately. For a $27 steak, you only get 5 small pieces of steak. Fries were cold and half full. Service was super slow - for lunch on a Monday, we waited for an hour to get our food served. There were only a few tables occupied. I personally really want this place to continue its legacy but it's very disappointing and sad to see this happening.

Yelp
We were looking for a spot to grab a beer and snack and saw the sign for the Bavarian Brothers Brewery - it is actually just a more casual dining space at the Inn vs. a traditional brewery. They have several of their own beers, wine, and cocktails. The menu is the same as the Inn restaurant. We shared 2 appetizers: Spaetzle and Bavarian Sausage platter. Both were delicious and a sharable size. Comfortable setting, good service. Pretty view of garden and river. It is located in Shepardstown near the university and over looking the Potomac River. My rating rationale  +1 Service +1 Food~Taste/flavor/quality +1 Presentation +1 Atmosphere/vibe +1 Value

Yelp
Not an authentic flavor to the meat.very little sour and maybe not marinated long enough.no Bavarian salad like the previous owners had that was outstanding.ordered a Tito's on the rocks that tasted like water on the rocks.sorry but won't be going back.

Yelp
This review is for the restaurant. Barvarian Inn has become a favorite special occasion spot for getting together with family who live nearby. It's charming and classic and has a somewhat upscale feel when you sit inside the main dining area. They have a nice selection of wines and German beers to accompany the great food. I decided to go with the pan seared halibut this time which was really flavorful, though slightly dry. It came with spaetzle, so I still got to enjoy a taste of Germany while staying on the healthier side. They always have some great featured drinks and this time I went with the featured Sauvignon Blanc. which was nice and crisp. I love the variety of bread before the meal including the soft pretzels--yum! Make sure to walk around the grounds a bit to take in the beauty of the inn and the views of the Potomac River. I'd love to stay here sometime for the full experience. The infinity pool looks so lovely.

Yelp
Excellent place ! Here on business and this was a treat! Excellent dining experience, staff is fantastic! Thank you for allowing us to dine so long! The restaurant is fabulous inside and out. The food was exceptional Gluten free items good selection I forgot to take a photo of the sausage sampler but it was excellent. I would definitely dine here again!

Yelp
My boyfriend and I were staying in the area and we were recommended the Bavarian Inn by many friends. It is definitely a cute place. We were amazed and actually decided we'll try to make a trip again soon and stay at the hotel. Very upscale restaurant. We both got amazing drinks and he ordered wagyu and I got a Rueben. The food was fantastic. The service was also great! We had Abigail and she went above and beyond with great recommendations. The only slight issue was that there was a wedding reception in the next room and the music was good but a little overwhelming.

Yelp
Came here with a large party where we used their private room and ordered a buffet off their catering menu. They have plenty of parking and were ready when we arrived. Service was pretty good and everyone seemed taken care of just fine. The room overlooks the surrounding area and pretty scenic. Our buffet consisted of salad, tomato basil soup, chicken piccata, sauerbraten, spaetzle, root vegetable medley, and assorted mini desserts. The salad and soup was really good; I particularly like the cold marinated mushrooms. I'm usually not a fan of sauerbraten and still not, but the chicken was actually pretty good. Usually most chicken breast dishes in a buffet is so overcooked that its inedible. This was actually fairly moist and the caper sauce was good. Spatzle was also good and sauces from the sauerbraten and chicken mixed in well. They also brought some bread, biscuits, and butter and I kept devouring those biscuits with the tomato soup. Overall, a good time and good meal.

Yelp
We dined here on Thanksgiving and were very pleased. The service was great. The food was plentiful and delicious. Skip the turkey and all the cleanup afterwards and let the Bavarian Inn be a part of your holiday plan.

Yelp
A real winner in an area that doesn't have a lot of great restaurants. Food was great and combined with great servers make it a special place. Servers were knowledgeable about the food and steered us to some great choices.

Yelp
The ambiance is so refreshing. We sat in the open area of the restaurant. The servers were knowledgeable, friendly, and informative. They made excellent recommendations! The food was pretty amazing! I had the jaegerschnitzel, my daughter enjoyed the steak frites, and my husband had the sauerbraten they did not disappoint! Totally recommend the Bavarian Inn in Shepards town, WV to sit and enjoy a nice evening or brunch with friends

Bill B.

Yelp
Pretty darn good... I'll have to return for dinner sometime. Sadly, due to an event we had to sit in the bar. Don't get me wrong, the bar is a nice place, but quite noisy, and the service was a bit on the slower side. On the way out, we checked out the Rathskeller, It's worth a peek. The entire place oozes ambiance.

Yelp
There isn't a 2+ rating so I gave it a generous "3" rating. Used to be terrific. Not so Bavarian now either. Seems that their brew operation is their "baby" but outside of the view and nice facility, nothing special compared to other brew-pub restaurants. No draft German or European beer selection like they used to feature. (a handful available in cans). Only 5 "German-style" entrees, the remainder pretty much brew-pub fare. Modest portions, average quality. Obviously a dining choice if you are staying at the hotel and want on-site food. Upcharges for our (lukewarm) fries and potato salad. Menu peculiarities: pickles on the crabcake sandwich and Dijonnaise on the "Lobster, shrimp and crab roll." (I can't figure out why the delicate seafood would be so strongly seasoned.)

Yelp
Super cute little inn and restaurant with Bavarian-architecture and outfits for the staff. Warmly greeted and attentive staff. We had a large group and it was one of the better handled group situation. Large cocktail menu and lots of different beers. Soup of the day broccoli bisque which was outstanding, didn't leave a drop. Bread and mini pretzels were a table favorite. Fillet Mignon was tasty with a wonderful peppercorn sauce. Only miss was the dessert, the apple strudel felt a little dry and kinda looked like an apple burrito. Katie, our waitress, was outstanding, funny, warm, welcoming and made the meal. Overall a wonderful experience and worth a visit.

Yelp
The Services is 4 stars the ambiance is 5 Stars The food is just ok the onion soup was better than most if you're from MD don't get the crabcakes I knew better but some people in our group would not take my advice :)

Yelp
Had a reservation for 6pm, But not sat until after 6:40 Waited for 1st beverage at 7ish.. Food took a crazy amount of time to come out and we got served a few people at a time. Didn't get done with food service until 9:30! Got offered 1 glass of water all night, waiter seemed completely overwhelmed. All food barely warm and honesty DID NOT TASTE GOOD. Overcooked everything and flavorless $70/person menu only today?! We had no idea Why wouldn't you tell us at time reservations made? Automatically added a gratuity, though not sure what thank you that % was.. didn't say. JUST WANTED TO LEAVE ! What a sucky Mother's Day , VERY EXPENSIVE, meal! Horribly disappointed.

Yelp
Amazing dinning experience. I loved the food and the vibe. As a German American the food is quite good

Yelp
Bavarian Brothers Brewing on Mother's Day. Nice crowd. We had early reservations And the tables were nearly filled. We did the Mother's Day special which was four courses for $70 per person. The food really was good and worth the money. I had Prime Rib and my wife had the tenderloin. The service was decent. Our server was nice enough. And she was reasonably prompt. My one hang-up about this outing was the seating. When I made the reservation a few days in advance, I was clear there were two adults and a toddler. I also mentioned we would need a high-chair. When we arrived, we were seated at a tiny table and I had to ask twice for a high chair. There was not enough room at our table for three meals. We ended up having to stack dishes and had to ask our server to take away the bread basket, bread plates and the small table lamp. My rating for this experience is three stars- which is still GOOD. Could have easily been four stars had we not had to juggle our plates. And yes, we will definitely return. Next time I will make sure we are seated at a larger table.

Yelp
Food was ok. Service nothing special. Overall sort of a disappointment. Had high hopes but....

Yelp
first time eating here that I was very disappointed. German food was bland (wiener schnitzel)....spaetzle -- maybe a table spoon of it on plate...everything cold (on a 10 point scale maybe 3), told wait staff...she took it and it came back with food temperature about a 6 luke warm. Then some "official" guy (whose short, tie) came over toward end of there meal and asked how we enjoyed the food. I said my was very cold. He was the kind who asks a question and dosen't even listen more care to hear an answer...he said nothing. What a shame...my partner took me for Father's Day. No longer is one of my favorite restaurants, within 1 hr 20 mutes from where we live. Will think twice about ever coming again.

Yelp
Beautiful scenery looking over the Potomac. It did take us over an hour to get our food on a Sunday night when it wasn't busy. It was a big night for me and my husband-- so that was a drag. Other than the long wait-- everything was fine.

Yelp
High end German cuisine right next to the Potomac River, what else can you ask in the heart of Shepardstown? A few years ago I drove pass Bavarian Inn on the way to Antietam battlefield with my classmates from Harpers Ferry. Saw the restaurant and the hotel sitting atop the Potomac. Fast forward to 2022, I was out to Harpers Ferry again for more training and some classmates suggested the Bavarian Inn for our final night of dinner. It was a perfect nightcap at the Bavarian Inn. The restaurant itself is pretty classy. The service was impeccable and the food delicious. You also get nice views of the Potomac and surrounding areas. Our waitress was awesome, she was able to split the check 6-ways for us which helped for everyone at the table. I had the raw oysters, a beer and the Weiner Schnitzel plate. The menu itself wasn't too expensive, you'd probably pay more in LA for a meal like this. Overall everyone was super happy. Will definitely be back on my next trip out to WV. Plenty of parking, easy to get to from Charlestown (15-20 mins drive), credit card okay. Great atmosphere. Call in for a reservation if you have a big group coming in. Bar available inside.

Delicious food and great service. Took my granddaughters and daughter after visiting Antietam battlefield. A very good reprieve!

Yelp
I am a "born & raised" Charles Town Native.Decided to stay over-night (1st Time) to utilize the Infinity Pool in the 95 degree heat & give a shot to a proclaimed "outstanding" & local business. The Hotel offered early entry a few hours prior to check in utilize the grounds, pool & bar area. Sam & Diane were engaging & both were stellar @ the bar! We checked in & ice machine was a no-go... but no biggie. Dinner on the other hand was marginally a 2 out of 10. The sausage app. came quick after order @ looked as though it had spent the afternoon in sun as well. My Reuben was un-toasted & blah, the potatoes salad was warm tasteless mush. My guest who had lived in Germany had the Schnitzel & the flavorless sauce was thick enough for a knife. The disappointment was the unavailability of anchor German beer which was " tapped-out" .What...No Hefeweizen?? A definite downer after really looking forward to an Authentic German dinner,& brew. We went back to our room ordered a pizza. True story. We bounced & checked out before 8:30 am.

Yelp
We ate dinner at the bar and the food was good and very friendly staff! Our waitress was so kind to us and kept our 1 year-old son happy and entertained. The restaurant and view were also so pretty. Definitely recommend!

Yelp
We had an absolutely wonderful breakfast, very attentive and polished server, Justine. We sit outside with a lovely view of the bridge over the Potomac. I would highly recommend the Bavarian Inn the prices for breakfast entrées for extremely reasonable, and the coffee refills just kept on coming. Thank you Justine for taking care of us five star service.

Yelp
Let me just say our stay was enjoyable however, things have drastically changed since our last stay (prior to COVID). The food was excellent! Service was likewise excellent! Dining room elegant as always with a beautiful view! The room...not so much! We have stayed here several times so what we found for accommodations fell well below my expectations. To begin with, a month ago we traveled up to the Bavarian Inn to inquire about getting a reservation for our 20th anniversary and, to have a nice dinner. This is not a short trip for us but, since it is an establishment we have fond memories of, we chose this for our special date. Prior to our arrival I had checked reservation availability online and what we desired WAS able to be reserved. Since we were using a gift card for our payment we decided to check at the front desk as to exactly how using our gift card would work, as payment means. The young lady at the counter advised us that the reservation would be a credit card hold but when we arrived everything could be applied to the gift card. She asked us what dates we were looking at and upon being told she quickly said that there was no availability for our Thursday night date as the entire establishment was already reserved and blocked from reservation for a wedding occurring Wednesday through the weekend. Leaving, very disappointed, I decided to try to check my luck back online since just prior to walking in and speaking to the front desk attendant what I wanted WAS available online! So, online I went and immediately secured my reservation for my Thursday night anniversary date. I do not understand what the front desk attendant saw nor do I understand why she would not take my reservation request in person, but after securing my date online I decided to let this situation go until now. Now, I am quite annoyed that the young lady provided me incorrect information causing me to have to go through the reservation process online because it resulted in other situations that could have been avoided had we been given any consideration when at the front desk trying to reserve, in person. Obviously, based on pricing and online description they have different room "types". They have room rates starting at $249.00 and higher depending on what you select. Having stayed here prior I had expectation that what I had reserved online would be comparable to what I had reserved in the past. Not true! In the past, for the same price paid for this stay, I had received a cozy room with fireplace, elegant furnishings and awesome bath complete with a bidet (lol, at the time I found this bath addition quite unique!) . For this reservation I received a very standard higher end motel/hotel room. How very disappointing when this reservation was for a special life event. As I've said, our meals were wonderful but, upon returning back to our room after dinner we chose to have some beverages while watching a movie. The drinking glasses that were available to us in our room however were dirty, possibly pre-used with a red stain dried to the bottom of both glasses. As a result, we ended up having to use the coffee mugs that were also provided next to the room's coffee machine. Using the room's television proved to be quite difficult even for my lifetime audio/visual tech gentleman who has worked as an audio/visual tech his whole career. I don't know if it was the remote or the lack of channel offerings that was the issue. It looked like if you knew all you subscription's logins and passwords you could possibly watch whatever you wanted but, if these were unknown to you, due to automatic home login availability, your only option was live tv and Netflix. We could not access anything else nor could we find any sort of special pay movie offerings (many times in many establishments you can pay to see an early release of a movie yet to be added to subscription tv offerings, don't get dirty minded here as that was not what was being looked for!). The room itself...was only ok, no bells or whistles at all, nothing that truly equated to what was paid for nor what was expected. Yes, maybe my reality versus expectation was my fault during the online reservation process but again, had the front desk person not provided incorrect information to us when we were standing in front of her wanting to make reservation and maybe had she not been so quick to dismiss us maybe I could have obtained the sort of room I had in the past, that I had wanted. Granted, in going online for closer review now it looks like the "type" room I used to reserve for $249.00 now carries with it a $349.00 price. In closing, my stay was fine, the food was wonderful, the "room reality" reserved not so much and the dirty glasses found in the room highly disturbing and questionable for a room that carries with it a $249.00 price.

Yelp
We didn't get a server to even come to our table for at least 30 minutes. Finally a guy came over to take care of us from another section. The food took forever to arrive, total time to be served, get food and the pay the bill, 3 hrs. Unacceptable.

Yelp
Hotel - 5 stars Restaurant- 4 stars Let's start with the hotel itself - immaculate. The rooms are super clean, amenities are plenty and the views all around are really nice. Even without a view of the river the hotel itself is beautiful to look at. The staff was super friendly, the little gift shop had everything you could want for. It was a great stay. Oh and the bed and pillows were super comfy, isn't that all that really matters at the end of the day? I also loved the little balcony each room has, it's such a lovely touch. During the summer months the pool must be fantastic. I can see staying here in the future! Onto the restaurant - very good overall. Our server was very friendly and the decor in the brewery is unmatched. Absolutely gorgeous. They have an outdoor dining area and even a fire pit which was really nice. I definitely suggest dining in the brewery just because it's a very beautiful place to sit and enjoy. If you do dine in the other dining room, the menu changes, it's a bit more expensive and while I'm sure the food is good it's just not the same ambience. I shockingly wasn't too hungry for dinner tonight. We dine there, so I got a Caesar salad in a French onion soup. Both were great. I definitely prefer the soup, the salad came with a huge crouton that was a little too stale. The spaetzle was good too. I would skip the German chocolate cake, it really isn't anything special and was a little stale too. Try a different dessert if you're dining here. If you're staying in the hotel you should definitely try the restaurant for a night if nothing else than to experience some German treats! My boyfriend also enjoyed the beer and they have some to purchase right from their brewery.

Mary W.

Yelp
I had my go to at most restaurants which it was the Rueban which was great! my husband had the Steak Frites which he loved as well. both meals we opted to get fries which came cold and limp. it was a disappointment, I had German chocolate Cake which was very dense. it wasn't for me. my husband the chose the apple strudel which was dry (good thing he got it alamode). the service was great and I would return.

Sonya B.

Yelp
The food the service and the ambience were very nice. We got the crab cake sandwich, sausage sampler, Jager schnitzel, sauerbraten, and green tomato appetizer. Everyone liked everything except for spaetzle (due to the ) and the red cabbage (just didn't like the taste). The beer was decent. I will say this place is a little pricey. I don't see myself for my family returning unless it's for the sausage sampler and Green fried tomatoes!

Diane N.

Yelp
Warm reception, charming and elegant atmosphere, excellent dining. Our room was spacious, charcuterie in our room upon arrival was a nice touch.

Grace E.

Yelp
The crab dip was good but the burger really wasn't! The service was good. And it is a lovely location.

Yelp
Fine German food and beer on the Potomac River in Shepherdstown, West Virginia. Yes, I'm finding it a little unexpected but then I remember that much of this area was settled by German immigrants in the 18th century. The same people? I have no idea. I was able to find parking and the entrance to the restaurant. The hostess informed me that without a reservation, they would not be able to seat me but the bar area is open seating. Good enough! I found a stool at the bar, removed my mask and got ready for deliciousness. Starting off with their Mecklenburger pilsner (I live in Mecklenburg County, how could I not?) which was cold, delicious and perfect for a pilsner. A few minutes later, my appetizer order of wurst arrived. A good portion for a starter, there were three or four different types of sausages piled on top of a stack of sauerkraut and dressed with mustard. It was perfect with the beer! I did not explore the grounds and I did not stay in the hotel, but I can say that my experience at the restaurant was five stars. [Review 15604 overall - 56 in West Virginia - 1108 of 2021.]

Yelp
Great place. Husband and I spent the weekend there with college friends. Was a great experience. Nice infinity pool and fire pit. Beautiful scenery and good food. Professional staff.

Yelp
This is strictly a food review only. I have yet to experience the rest of this place. This was a decent food experience which makes me want spend an entire weekend here. Find out why? After a semi tedious hike at Maryland Heights, me and my friends decided to give this place a try. This place is in a very small historic and semi gothic place called Shepherds Town in West Virginia. The place is beautiful and right from the entrance it captivates you in its distinct vibe. Coming to the food there are three different seatings, the bar, the fine dine and I was just too hungry to remember the name of the last one. We selected to sit in the fine dine place. I just tried the signature burger and it was delicious. The brisket was tender, the sauce was dripping and I made a mess on the table but it was totally worth it. Server was amazing as well and very courteous. 4.7/5 is my score of this place. Definitely will be back

Nicolas D.

Yelp
I eat at the Bavarian regularly. The food is always great, as is the service. It is consistently a fantastic place to eat. Perfect for a special event or a casual lunch. The restaurant itself has a comfortable, quiet atmosphere. It's perfect for conversation. I highly recommend it.

Yelp
Came here for my company party and we stayed in one of the rooms. The scenery was beautiful, especially the view from our room. It was all very serene. The hotel itself is not my vibe though. Plenty of parking all around the hotel.
google avatar

Joe H.

Yelp
The food was good. I had the wienerschnitzel with spaetzle. Be warned, there was something on the lemon that turns out to be an anchovy. Thank God i didn't eat that. Pricewise, it is on the highside at $32 for a pork wienerschnitzel. The rahmsauce that came with the schnitzel was too thin to be called a cream sauce. It tasted fine but was more like broth than cream sauce.

Yelp
TLDR: Delicious Bavarian inspired food and on site brewed beer. Come for lunch to enjoy the restaurant's ambiance and beer. Vibe: 5/5. Right across the Maryland/West Virginia border on a hill top overlooking the Potomac is the Bavarian Inn and Brewpub. The inn has been thoughtfully themed to resemble something straight out of Bavaria. To further add to the charm, there are Bavarian themed chateaus neighboring the inn to complete the experience. The inn operates as a hotel, gift shop, brew pub and restaurant all in one. When you first enter through the main doors, you are greeted by the hotel front desk. Just beyond the desk, you can see the entrance to the restaurant and bar area. Both the main dining room and bar are beautifully decorated in modern chic with brewhaus touches. The dining room has large bay doors that open up to the scenic hilltop patio overlooking the Potomac River. Service: 5/5. The staff at the Bavarian Inn were very accommodating during our lunch. We were immediately seated in the main dining room with a beautiful table looking out at the Potomac River. Our server was great, offering menu suggestions and punctual service throughout the entire meal. Overall nothing to complain about on the service end. Food/Drink: 3/5. We really were hoping the food would be equally as good as the atmosphere, however it fell slightly short of expectations. For lunch, we ordered the crab pretzel, ham and cheese spaetzle, and the burger to share amongst 2. Everything tasted fine, but stayed within the realms of mediocrity. The major miss that will not be forgotten was the heavily touted crab pretzel. The pretzel and beer cheese tasted great, however the lump crab portion was on the skimpy side and instead they opted to fill the void with a crab type stuffing. Reminiscent of cheap deviled crab dishes at touristy seafood houses, the filling was dry, tasted of stovetop stuffing and overpowered the taste of the little lump crab meat that came with the dish. On the beer side, we went with a flight of their seasonal beer offerings and all were decent. Overall, the Bavarian Inn is worth the stop for a beer or 2 if you're passing through the area.

Yelp
I've since been back to the Bavarian Inn. I'd have to say that I am impressed with the upgrades. They brew their own beer, and the dinner selections have improved. We had a small group come here for dinner. The German plates are great and reasonably priced. We also had their schnitzel inspired burger that was definitely filling. After eating, we had a couple of libations in their outside patio overlooking the Potomac river. That was divine. All in all, this is an excellent place to have dinner and a few after dinner cocktails (have a designated driver for sure). I highly recommend the Bavarian Inn for ambiance and food choices. Make it your stop when you're in the area. You'll be happy that you did.

Yelp
We had a very nice time dining at the main bar. Salmon entree and shrimp/crab/lobster sandwich were tasty. Efficient and friendly service. Our bartender Ryan was great. They got slammed with a huge party when we sat down but the staff made us feel welcomed and took great care of us.

Yelp
In one word- YUM! I am personally not one who enjoys Bratwursts and other German fare, but Bavarian Inn has changed my script. We drove for an hour and 20 minutes to get to this beautiful scenic location in celebration for my mom's birthday. We shared the avocado fries and the crab stuffed pretzel. Both were absolutely delicious! The Caesar salad was pretty good too- surprisingly the balsamic vinegar added a different level of freshness and the focaccia bread as croutons was a different touch. Overall, the food was delicious- the entrees across the board were yummy and well flavored. Our server Corrine was fantastic! Very knowledgeable and her recommendations were spot on. Tip: if you are seated on the patio, be careful with the chairs. They were pretty comfortable at first but started to cause aches and locked knees.

Yelp
Food was good (decent), architecture fairly Bavarian, but the ambiance is lacking. Despite the heavy influences of Bavaria evident in the setting and buildings, there was nothing German about the music or attire of the staff. At least play canned German festive music. Beer selection is ok. Lacking is a proper 1 liter mug, which any German restaurant should have as an option. Have the staff dress in something resembling a more traditional German outfits, play some German festive music, and I'd give 4 or maybe 5 stars.

Yelp
Not sure what is going on with this place. The food used to be excellent, but the past few times we have been there, not so much. Everything we ordered was mediocre, and some of it was even cold. Cheese tray was pretty sad too, how do you mess that up? For the servers sake, I hope they improve.

Yelp
We had been to Harpers Ferry for the long weekend. Weather wasn't all that great so we were looking for places with outdoor seating and a fire pit. This place came up in my search. I am so glad we decided to check this out. This is a great place to stay or just a one time visit. Beautiful views from the room and from the restaurant area. Gas fireplace was amazing. Kept us all warm on a cold day. Bummed that infinity pool was closed due to the weather but can't wait to check it again when I am back.
