I've been a longtime customer at Baxter Finley, since 2012 to be exact. My first stylist was a woman named Frankie. Since then I've worked with a number of stylists including Victor, David, Anthony, and Frank. Unfortunately everyone I've named no longer works there and the quality has gone downhill.
My absolute last visit was this weekend.I arrived at 9:55 for a 10:00am appointment - since this is the type of place to say if you're 5 minutes late, you lose your slot. The receptionist went to the back to notify my stylist (who I'm not going to name) that I was here. Five minutes pass, it's now 10:00am. 10:05. 10:10. 10:15. Finally it's 10:20am. 20 minutes past my appointment time. And my stylist walks in from the back with a to-go coffee in his hand. He clearly decided running out to get his coffee was the priority.
I called him out on it. He mumbled an apology and said he thought the appointment was for 10:10am. If that were the case, he would've only been 10 minutes late. Not much better.
Anyways, it's kinda clear to me this once-amazing location now has an institutional problem. All these great long-term stylists have left (seriously, you lost Frank? He was a stalwart and incredible) and some seriously unprofessional people have taken over.
I've probably spent around $3,000 in haircuts there over seven years but am now taking my business to Barber Surgeon's Guild in Weho.
