Baxter Theatre Centre

A wonderful theatre venue that offers a memorable experience from start to finish. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, with comfortable seating and excellent acoustics that allow every performance to be thoroughly enjoyed. The layout provides good visibility from most seats, making it easy to feel immersed in the show. Staff are professional, friendly, and well organised, contributing to a smooth and enjoyable visit. Overall, it’s a well-maintained venue that truly enhances the magic of live theatre and is a pleasure to return to.

An absolutely amazing theatre. Always a good variety of shows available to watch. There is plenty parking available around the complex. My favorite has to be the New Years eve show and then after party.

My husband and I watched Schalk Bezuidenhout’s Krismis Bonanza at the Baxter Theatre last Wednesday and had the best time. The theatre was booming with people of all ages and interest to attend one of the three shows that were hosted. The premises and bathrooms and clean and very well kept, the drinks from the bar and the service is great, and the shows that are hosted are always brilliant.

The Baxter Theatre, run by UCT, always has something great on — from stand-up comedy and ballet to powerful dramas and bold productions like The Vulgarians. I’ve loved every visit. The venue is spacious and well kept, with a great bar and restaurant where you can relax outdoors before your show. There are several theatres inside, so it’s always lively and full of energy. One of my favourite spots in Cape Town for a night out!

Excellent as always. Great production quality and a thoroughly enjoyable show: Schalk Bezuidenhout and Friends. Plenty of parking, clean facilities and helpful staff. Very heart warming when an older theater (1977) is kept up to such good standards. Also plenty of staff at the concession stand so you don't lose half your interval to standing in a queue.

The outlet itself is a stark contrast to the area, bright, modern, and thoughtfully fitted. Unfortunately, the experience didn’t match the look. Bins were close to overflowing, and I spotted a large cockroach scuttling across the floor (after I’d already paid, unfortunately). Even though I was the only customer, the staff seemed disorganised and unsure of the order. It took about 16 minutes from ordering to receiving my food. The one saving grace: the food was fresh and well prepared.

Saw Colleen The Musical with friends and what an amazing show! Staff/ushers were friendly and very helpful, but I do feel the bar/food areas can be worked on for quicker turnaround during the interval.

Have watched 2 shows here over the past 2 years, it is a lovely theatre complex. Not too much parking, but spacious areas to enjoy drinks with friends before and after performances.
