We really enjoyed our visit here for the first time! It was way bigger than I expected and such a nice place for free. It was a very pretty walk and the paths were large so we brought our wagon. There were 2 buildings to go in with more animals to see and in one of them we bought bag of corn to feed the geese and ducks. I would definitely recommend stopping here!

One of my favorite places to frequent during the year. There are lots of different, unique types of places in a small area. You can watch geese in the lake, enjoy the sound of the waterfall, talk a quiet walk through the reeds, and end with a walk near the dear area to learn about some history of the area.

Have grown up in Green Bay all my life and always enjoyed a free trip to the Wildlife Sanctuary. Has not changed that much since I was a kid, but still holds a nostalgic charm that all ages love. Went here with one of our friends and her two kids and they both loved their first time. Hopeful to make more trips this summer

This is such a beautiful place. Cannot wait to go back!!! It's worth all of the time and very cost friendly as well!!!

I just visited the Bay Beach Wildlife Sanctuary for the first time yesterday since starting school at UWGB, and wow did I love it! I am disappointed I didn’t go sooner. Everything was just in my element, and it was cool to see all the animals for free so close to where I live. My favorite part was seeing the little owl because owls are my favorite animals. The only sad part is that the waterfall was not going, I guess I assumed it was a real waterfall not a man powered one. But that is okay, it just gives me a reason to go check it out again when it gets a bit warmer!

Google
Always took my kids there. Very fun and just a good nature's walk. One of the things to do with your kids that is always free. Has live critters, animals and even a small indoor tube slide. I wouldn't suggest an adult go in it because I'm not that big and it was tight for me.

Google
I've been going here all my life. I love feeding the geese and ducks for the past 40+ years. I remember when a bag of corn was 50 cents. This is a great place for families of all ages, or just a walk with your friends. They have many educational programs and volunteer opportunities. The trails are well maintained. There is so much to see and enjoy.

Google
A decently large sanctuary, fun to visit and see some rare birds of prey while supporting an organization that helps wounded wildlife.

Yelp
I can't believe there is such a neat place so close to downtown. I was in the area and was intrigued since they mentioned they had wolves at the center, as well as a lot of other rescued animals that are unable to be released back into the wild. When you drive into the park, you immediately notice the amount of Canada goose and mallards swarming the area. There's a huge pond that they call home, and they're also joined by wood ducks, herons, and even a sand hill crane. It turns out that the center sells cracked corn that the birds go crazy for, which leads to a love-hate relationship as they love the corn, but are wary of you as a large animal. There's a nature center which has exhibits geared more towards children, although there's still plenty to learn for adults. There's also animals inside, and several bird feeders right outside. The observation building is where I had the most fun. Outside they have injured raptors, while inside they keep bats, songbirds, and shorebirds. Behind the glass, you can see the volunteers and staff nurturing baby rabbits. The woodland building is home to animals such as rabbits, opossums, skunks, and more. Outside there are foxes, wolves, and deer. I was surprised hear the wolves howling, and it was amazing that I could see them easily from the building. There's a daily program at various times where you can see a up close look at the animals. I went for the Eagles one, where the staff took out Liberty the eagle. She was found with severe visual impairment (likely from West Nile) and so couldn't fly or feed herself that well.

Yelp
This sanctuary visitors center is full of hands-on exhibits that immerse kids and adults in animal habitats and fun! While moms and dads will feel this center is straight from their childhood, the exhibits have stood the test of time and continue to delight kids. There are many local species of birds and animals stuffed for up-close observation, and the deck features bird feeders for many close views of birds in action. There are tunnels and hollows to explore, a great underwater habitat exhibit, and an amazing otter slide. We spent an hour in the visitors center and could have stayed longer. It's not all taxidermy though, there are also live animals on exhibit that have been saved by the sanctuary but cannot return to the wild. My kids especially enjoyed the fancy mice. If you have more time, there are 5 different trails to walk or ski apparently. You can also sometimes purchase food to feed the many ducks which was our initial purpose, but avian flu nearby has the experience on hold. I wish we'd come earlier! This was an excellent way to spend a wintry hour while visiting Green Bay with our 4 kids. I hope for a chance to visit in summer and do it all.

Anthony K.

Yelp
This is a great free venue for younger kids. Great selection of animals and a learning facility all geared to young children. The learning facility is all indoors with excellent exhibits of all of nature and wildlife. Outside, they have a paved walking path that's also accessible for handicap, with wild animals that you would never seen before. This place is an excellent resource for abandoned, or having to relocate wildlife.

Brock P.

Yelp
Service is great when it comes to asking for help with certain things, and the staff are pretty friendly overall. The animals are fun to see and its a great place to bring your family or just go by yourself to relax and enjoy the weather. You can also fish along the river if you're into that as well! - Kid friendly - Relaxing environment - Cheap/Free entry - Fishing

ANDREA F.

Yelp
We stopped here to picnic with the Canadian Geese. It was lovely! There were lots of goslings a couple different ages. Do not feed! They have corn to feed them that you can buy. There is a fishing dock for juveniles and the differently-abled. Lots to do here but we had to scoot as it was a rainy day.

Mohammad Jawad J.

Yelp
A must see place in Green Bay Wisconsin! My wife and I really enjoyed our time there.

May B.

Yelp
We have been to Bay Beach hundreds of times. We live out of state but every time we are back in Green Bay to visit family, we have taken a trip to Bay Beach. Mostly we have gone to the Wildlife Sanctuary, a few times to the amusement park. This time we were there for a wedding and I have to say it was beautiful! The venue is attached to the nature center - as many times as we have been there, we never realized there was a whole other party room complete with a full kitchen. The venue was set up and decorated beautifully. My family was able to get in the night before and set everything up and bring in what ever they needed for their big day. After the ceremony, the staff set up the tables while the guest wandered the grounds to took pictures. We were responsible for clean up but that didn't take too long with our family working together. All in all it was a beautiful day and anyone having an intimate wedding should consider Bay Beach.

Alexis H.

Yelp
Love love love. best place to take abandoned/injured wildlife; dont call animal control Great for the animals

Janelle Z.

Yelp
Great family activity or date idea. Free but make sure to bring $1 for the corn to feed geese!

Alysia C.

Yelp
Came here for a little trail hike to get some time with nature and stretch our legs while on a trip up to Green Bay for my husband and step son to visit the Oneida Reservation and take care of some family business. We spent about 2 hours walking the trails, they're pretty well marked and easy to navigate. We saw a few deer and 2 foxes playing plus a variety of birds and other small wildlife critters. We did not walk over by the waterfall but did go inside the main building and looked around a bit. The bathroom facilities were clean and the children's educational area seemed small and intended for elementary-age kids. Would return for the trail again if we're in the area and want to get some miles in outdoors rather than taking a walk on a hotel treadmill.

Matthew H.

Yelp
I have gone here with family and friends for many years. It is always a good time and helps me appreciate nature. It is a beautiful place and I will continue to visit as long as I live here. Thanks for all the amazing memories!

Ken A.

Yelp
Great place to enjoy nature. Visit w family picnic and learn about the habitat of local birds and other species

Matt W.

Yelp
Such a beautiful wildlife sanctuary! There is an indoor museum for the kids with a play area and slide, and there is plenty of walking trails with animal exhibits. You can buy a bag of corn and feed the ducks and geese. It is conveniently across the street from Bay Beach Amusement Park. Lots of fun for the entire family while enjoying nature.

Katie S.

Yelp
I've been going here since I can remember and I still love to feed the geese and see all their beautiful animals. The waterfall was a great addition! Very beautiful place to go for a walk in nature. Free zoo but please donate if you can because they have vets on staff that save our local wildlife.

Trinity W.

Yelp
I have always gone here with my family and friends and I have always brought my pets and no one has ever said anything about my pets being there. Today I brought my dog in and once of the workers said that pets were not allowed, I listened and I left but as I started to look around I noticed that they only had one no pet sign that I had seen (which I have never noticed before). I love going here and this experience is not stopping me from going again but I just want to say that they should put more no pet signs around. The only one I noticed was right as you walk into the park about 50 feet away from the walkway, and it was quite small. You drive in and there is no sign driving in or by the parking lot, so you take an animal all the way into the park before even realizing you can't have them there. Just a heads up for anyone else that wants to take their pet there, they are not welcome and it is not very well advertised. Also when the guy asked me to leave because I had my dog, I was very nice and said I would and he proceeded to follow me in his ATV all the way to the parking lot to make sure I left. I went there a couple nights ago as they were closing and a lot of works seen my dog and said nothing about it, I am just getting mixed feelings about this and wanted to share with anyone else who either had a similar experience or was thinking about brining there pet there. Again like I said very wonderful place to go and have always loved it, just am having mixed feelings about my experience today.

Yelp
Always amazing! I love to take my family here on walks in the spring and summer time. Highly recommend to anyone in the area!!

Guillermo G.

Yelp
Fantastic place for outdoor activities and for leisure. Highly recommend for any travelers or residents looking for something relaxing to do.

Steve R.

Yelp
Love this place. I just love going out back and looking at all the injured birds they are nursing back to health so that eventually one day they can be released into the wild. Some animals are permanently hurt and will never return to the wild. But this place does such a good job taking care of all the animals. Trust me tho: there are plenty of healthy ducks and geese running around. This whole sanctuary is awesome if you like to take pictures and hit some small trails and take in nature and all it has to offer.

Yacouba S.

Yelp
Wildlife. Peace. Tranquility. Nature. Beautiful. Animals. Birds. Amazing Wow. Why not. Give it a try.

Holly G.

Yelp
Such a nice place that you can walk around and have a fun time seeing animals that have been rescued. The corn bags are $1 and it's so fun to feed the ducks, geese

George N.

Yelp
Fantastic family friendly place. Also a great place to just take a walk or have a picnic. Highly recommend.

Cassandra S.

Yelp
Had an amazing time!!! Took my niece here to get some wildlife education in and boy what a treat this place was. We fed ducks, Geese, and deer! Plus their wolf, big cat, and coyote habitats were very cool. The corn feed bags only cost a buck but make sure you have cash.

Dawn W.

Yelp
This is a place worth exploring :-)There are some really amazing raptors like bald eagles, lots of assorted kinds of hawks, and lots of owls. There are some deer, a cougar ,a Porcupine and a fox and supposedly wolves tho we never saw any. There's a man-made waterfall that is really very lovely. Not a bad way to spend a couple of hours

Heather P.

Yelp
Our Bay Beach Wildlife Sanctuary is a gem and a wonderful asset to our great city. I've been here many times with family to enjoy a picnic lunch and see the animals. My kids have always loved feeding corn to the ducks and geese. It's a wonderful place to visit with out of town guests. Did you know this place has cool events all year long? Last night they held their Frosty Family Night. There are also guided snowshoe hikes on weekend mornings and weekend early afternoons. My family went today and we had a blast. We saw bald eagles, bunnies and deer. Our guide, Jodie, was fantastic. She organized a fun snowshoe relay race near the end and my kids especially loved it. There were folks of various ages on our hike. You can bring your own snow shoes, or they provide them. It's only $5/person. Look on their website for info. http://www.baybeachwildlife.com/ I plan on coming again to some future Earth Day events.

Yelp
After walking through Beach Bay amusement park, we wanted to enjoy a less crowded place. Aside from the humid temperature, the walk through the trails was so much better here. Plus, wide open space without the big crowd. My wife and I got to see wolves, cougar, and bats in the Woodland building. Next, we walked across the floating bridge to the observation tower to see pelicans, ducks, and geese. There were also cages for bald eagles and hawks too. The geese dropping were hard to avoid at the observation tower. So, just keep your eyes on the ground as you walk around this part of the park. Overall, this is a great way to spend a quiet day. If you have young ones, it is the place to cool down from all the excitement from Beach Bay Amusement Park.

Jessica M.

Yelp
Great place, but be sure to bring your mosquito spray!! There's a fun nature building for kids with some smaller live animals to see, such as quails and guinea pigs. There are also several artificial caves and slides for them to explore. Outside there are some fantastic walking trails with lots of wildlife. Unfortunately, the mosquitos and biting flies were so bad that the only larger animal we saw was a turkey as we were running through, trying to minimize our bites!! We'll definitely be back, but not without lots of bug spray!!

Ashley G.

Yelp
There was a lot to look at! Very education and huge. It was a lot of fun and spaced out well. They had clean walking paths and pretty bridges. Lots of geese everywhere and you're able to feed them. Great for all ages!

Christi P.

Yelp
Love coming here with my daughter. Awesome little treasure Green Bay has. We love first stopping to watch through the window of the little animal hospital to see what little babies they may be helping at the time! They have birds and wolves and snakes and bats and more birds! So fun to walk around and see them all. They have a few educational buildings and my daughter LOVES to read them all and learn all about the native animals. Couple little playground items thrown in there along the way and we both stop to play! It's all free! Well it is $1.00 a bag of corn to feed the geese and ducks and that is a MUST. So much to see and do.

Phillip W.

Yelp
These guys seem to be trying very hard. And as a place where people without lots of means can take the family to interact with wildlife, it's fine. It's always a bit sad to see any animals caged for human viewing. And here, where the caged animals tend to be top-tier predators (cougar, eagles, hawks, owls, etc.) it's even more so. But since the alternative would presumably have been death in the wild for these injured or disabled individuals, I guess it is what it is. For birdists like us, it was undeniably informative to get to see rarely-seen raptors up close. For North American natives like the Broad-winged Hawk, Rough-legged Hawk, Gyrfalcon, Golden Eagle, or Northern Goshawk, about all you can ever hope for is to look at photos taken by others, or to catch a fleeting glimpse through binoculars at great distance -- a glimpse that, often as not, leaves you wondering if you really saw what you thought you saw.

Shannon M.

Yelp
Really neat place to visit. There is a lot to see and it's great to go both as an adult and to bring kids. Outdoor grounds, natural habitats, water features, indoor learning centers, and a really pretty setting. What's not to love? Plus you might get to see the wolves howl which is pretty cool. Plus it's free and you can take injured wild animals in to recover.

Jonathan J.

Yelp
This place is Amazing! Every time I visit Wisconsin to see my kids I bring them here! You have to pay to see a place like this in Phoenix AZ! Here it's free! My kids love it and I have great memories here with them! I am planning on donating some money to get a bench placed near the wolves in memory of my son Jonathan A. Jimenez. He really loved it there.

Alicia S.

Yelp
A beautiful place to go across from Bay Beach Amusement Park. Great picnic spot. Free to enjoy, there are paths to wander with deer, wolves, and other animals. There's 3 areas you can wander the paths to: an indoor/outdoor animal viewing area, an indoor more historical interactive area, and the bird sanctuary where you can feed ducks and see large birds of prey and owls. Wonderful place for kids, families, or if you need a place to relax & think!

Alyson B.

Yelp
Beautiful place for a walk, jog or run. The views are amazing and the grounds are very well kept. The bird enclosures are awesome and informative. Best part, it's all FREE! Just buy some corn to feed the birds as bread is bad for them and if possible make a donation to keep this place going.

Brianna H.

Yelp
This is a great place to go to just wonder around and enjoy the area. It's amazing to see the animals have so much space and room to roam, which I found wonderful. Its nice to know that there is somewhere that takes good care of the animals they have. It's fun to have some of them come close to the fence, like the deer, so you can get a good look at them. It's usually not too crowded and you are always able to roam freely and look at whatever animals you want. It's a major plus that it's free. Is super close to bay beach so it's nice to go here after. It's such a beautiful experience and I love going here. I recommend this place to friends in the area because it's so beautiful and fun.

Jeff L.

Yelp
Wow, for a free area this was quite a cool place for our family of six to check out. The birds of prey area was neat, and could use a little TLC, but what do you expect from a free attraction. The kids enjoyed watching one of the workers give a baby raccoon a bottle in the conservation wing. The woodland building area was awesome with the otters, bobcat, cougar, and wolves. Very educational and not crowded. My only complaint is all of the Canadian geese, some of which were agressive especially the ones with their young near by. This made it challenging at times to get to certain areas.

Hank T.

Yelp
The Sanctuary is one of the reasons for being thankful to be in Green Bay. This place is wonderful for a casual stroll to feed aquatic life, or to gaze at beautiful birds, or to support a working wildlife rehab facility. Admission is free and there's plenty to see. It's very laid-back and you can get close to many of the animals, much more so than in a bigger zoo setting. The grounds are gorgeous, and display a lot of Wisconsin's unique ecosystems. Any wildlife lover will feel at home here -- a must see for any eco-tourist.

Sarah K.

Yelp
FANTASTIC destination for birding! This is an "urban" park (as "urban" as Green Bay gets, anyway). A beautiful green space within a city. Also a very important stop for migrant birds, we often find MANY warblers here in spring and fall, as well as other migrants, including passerines, waterfowl, and raptors. Beautiful trails to walk, with a variety of habitats, and many friendly and helpful staff members. There are even many regulars (like my husband and I) willing and able to help anyone who should have questions! The programs are nice for children and adults, as well. We do the spring bird walks on Wednesday and Saturday mornings every year, and usually find a very large number of migrant birds not otherwise easy to see/hear! I HIGHLY recommend this place!!

Kara C.

Yelp
Awesome place to take the family. We visit this every year before we head over to the Bay Beach Amusement Park. There are 2 buildings to check out. We have been to both, but we usually just do the actual animal building. If we come with younger kids or new people, we'll do both. Anyway, the main reason we go there is to feed the ducks, geese and 2 swans. The cost is $1 per half lunch paper bag of corn for feeding. Long time ago, they used to offer ice cream buckets of corn. I liked that better. Anyway, the kids always love feeding the animals. They have a walk area to check out owls and other animals outside. Rescue animals, birds and other animals in the main building. Walki path is new within the last couple of years and is very nice. It has a path between the 2 buildings. Awesome area.

Emily K.

Yelp
First let me say this place is free. With that in mind it is awesome. Otters, wolves, foxes, deer, owls and eagles! The animals were super active and it was great to see the wolves roaming and howling. You can also purchase corn to feed the birds which my niece and nephew loved. If you are in Green Bay and need to kill a couple hours please stop in you will not regret it at all. Did I mention it is free?

Reina P.

Yelp
Love Love Love this place! My family just moved to Green Bay, so we we were looking for places to visit that were fun and FREE! We stumbled upon the animal sanctuary. I have a 5 year old, he was so impressed, they had a possum out for everyone to touch. They also have a mini park area by the bobcat exhibit for the kiddies. $1 bags corn to feed the ducks and geese, beautiful scenery. Cash only for the bags of corn, although they do have a gift shop that accepts debit/credit cards.

Christy G.

Yelp
This place is great! We saw so many animals in this beautiful setting. The nature center had so much to do for our 4 year old. Even our teenager found plenty to look at. No admission, free parking, worth your time to visit!

Jen W.

Yelp
Great place to get out and be with family. This place gives you many things you can do from a picnic to just enjoying your time on the trails it is all available for you to do.

Hannah P.

Yelp
This place is awesome. I came here in February so it wasn't busy at all. There were just two of us for a long time until a child and mom came along. I was really surprised how many animals there were out at this time of year. We saw coyotes, bobcats, fox, deer, and little flying squirrels and owl, etc. I think it's great to have a facility like this that's open all year round and free. Wish more cities had areas like this.

Taffy G.

Yelp
CAN'T BEAT THE PRICE.. IT'S FREE!!!!! Man-made waterfalls, surrounded by geese, ducks & other birds... What a great place! We found this place from a brochure in the hotel lobby. We spent the whole day in the wildlife sanctuary... we never saw the amusement park part! Just wish the cougar & the wolves weren't hiding. we didn't see them.

Peter L.

Yelp
Excellent value for the price (free). $1 bags of corn if you want to try to feed the abundant geese and ducks around the trails; however they all seemed so well fed as to be relatively (but not completely) indifferent to the handouts. The trails are good for walking and getting some fresh air/exercise, although none of the trails that I saw were really all that long -- but I'm not sure we saw all of the options at this visit.

Philip L.

Yelp
Stumbled onto this place while looking for a few hours to kill in Green Bay. Nicely laid out with clean facilities and well-kept for an urban sanctuary. I kept looking around for some sort of corporate sponsor but none was to be found. A good way to spend a few hours, even in the cooler months (maybe not winter!).

Pam A.

Yelp
This place was neat! Feeding the geese and ducks was fun. $1 a bag of corn. Enjoyed seeing the animals. My daughter (10 yrs. old) loved it...she didn't want to leave.

Lynn K.

Yelp
Absolutely loved it. Was in town to visit in laws and was looking for something to do with my five year old. Started out here before going to amusement park. It was free to get in, although I threw $5 in the donation box. They had lots of informative things for kids to see in buildings. Lots of animals outside. You could also buy a bag of corn to feed ducks for $1. They were even feeding a baby raccoon in front of the window which my son was fascinated with. Will definitely go back again.

Katherine C.

Yelp
I absolutely love coming here in the summer. Such a great place to get away, and relax. Always clean, friendly employees, and lots of fun.
