The location is terrific! The room was dated, damp, and musty. Everything always felt damp and wet. The owner is super nice and friendly. No fridge in the room, so you have to walk outside to the community fridge. Considering the lack of any real amenities other than coffee in the morning, I think it's overpriced.

We were in Alton Bay for a wedding when we stayed here. Reminded me of vacations taken when my kids were young. A quiet, relaxing retreat. We would stay again.

I would have never known about this little gem if my close friend didn't tell me about it. She came for 3 nights with her daughter a week ago and couldn't say enough good things about it. I had to come. We paid $190 for a lakefront room with a deck. Room was very clean with a full size bed, TV, table, chairs and ample bathroom. There are also efficiency units with 2 bedrooms and kitchenettes for larger families. The views? Heaven. I would suggest packing everything you need as once you get here you won't want to leave. There is a large covered outside area with a huge propane grill to cook, a full size fridge to keep your things, big fireplaced sitting area, plenty of chairs, bar (byob)tables, paddle boards and jet skis for rent. They even have kayaks you can use free of charge and a big water trampoline for the kids. In the morning there is a beautiful breakfast sitting area overlooking the lake where you are offered complimentary coffee, juice, cereal and the most amazing homemade blueberry muffins you will ever taste. I really can't say enough about this place. I will be back again before the season is over. ||||Don't forget to pack some floats or rafts!

The Bay Side Inn is a charming getaway right on the water of Alton Bay with clear access to Lake Winnipesaukee. Clean comfortable rooms, but you won't want to spend much time in them because there is too much to do outside! The owner and staff are helpful, friendly and full of local knowledge. We went with a group of families and everyone had a great time. Close to hiking at Mount Major, the other little towns around the lake, and good places for food. There is a great open air pavilion with grills and tables - great for group dinners and socializing. And the lake is great. We rented a boat for the day and time flew by. Don't miss a visit to Castle in the Clouds - worth the drive. We are already planning a return visit!

We stayed here for two nights last weekend. It's right on the water, with lovely views of Alton Bay and continuing out to Lake Winnipesaukee. Our room was comfortable, nice, and clean. The outdoor open wood pavilion is charming, and the small dock/pier area with chairs is very nice. My daughter loved the water trampoline. A few improve-ables - 1) All in my party agreed that the pillows were terribly uncomfortable - weirdly thick and not very soft. 2) The door frame to our room had lots of dead gnats, etc. around it. I'm sure the lights attract them at night, but staff should clean that regularly with a cobweb duster - so easy to do. 3) When we first arrived at the office and opened the door a big dog bounded out upon us. Ended up being a happy, friendly Lab or Retriever belonging to the owner, but it seems unprofessional not to realize that not everyone likes dogs (my mom), some are afraid (my daughter), and others could be allergic.

Would highly recommend for anyone coming to NH and looking for the lake life experience. Our room was steps away from the water, we all enjoyed the lake activities (kayaks, trampoline, paddle boards, and boating. Not to mention the wonderful staff- including Cobie an English Retriever.

The Bay Side Inn is the best way to have the total lake experience without having to rent your own cottage. The lakefront property has lovely rooms, each with their own outdoor deck. Or you may want to enjoy the gorgeous outdoor area with a fireplace and rocking chairs in the evening. Boats are available for rent-the pontoon for 6 people is a great way to see the lake. The innkeeper has coffee and muffins every morning and dining is minutes away. You may bring food if you care to use their outdoor grills, and be sure to bring a good book to relax on their docks or decks on the lake....Great spot for a great time-

Lovely, very friendly staff,.clean comfortable rooms. The balcony is the bomb.We sat outside and watched the fog lift off the lake in the morning and then again,in the evening we watched the sunset and the boats returning to the harbors. Very reasonable rates. Best part of our stay on the lake. This place is a gem.

Yelp
Everyone has a place that is not for them. For us, there were a some nice things but some things that meant we'd not recommend. Full disclosure, we are a family of neurodivergent introverts- so some of the things people really talked about liking here, were stressful. I don't want to talk to strangers on my vacation. Even if the strangers are quite lovely. The second thing was we overlapped with two family reunions. Both families very nice, but within the pavilion is not just the fireplace and grills, but a bar. As a person in recovery, being this close to constant drinking was uncomfortable and had I known about it I would have skipped it. The owners also let their dog roam around, so be aware if any of your party has a fear of dogs. The only place to swim involves you jumping off the dock into area deep enough for boats to dock, so we had to find state parks each day. The beds were comfortable. The view was nice. It wasn't enough to keep us there for the duration of our vacation.

Yelp
Members of my family have been staying here for tens of years when we have a family event at nearby Pumpkin Point and there is no more room in the house. We recently rented three rooms and enjoyed the beauty that Alton Bay/Lake Winnipesaukee has to offer. What makes this area special are the mountains, trees and the cool water. The view is great, the staff is friendly and helpful and the rooms are clean. The rooms are not luxurious and are as nice as a well kept national motel chain room. No coffee maker or fridge in the room. The price is reasonable and is about half of what I just paid to get a room in Boston. Some of the best times we had were at night when it gets cool enough to sit around the large fireplace under the gazebo. Very nice. We also rented a boat for some water sport and docked at Wolfeboro for lunch. Five stars for the location and beauty of this family run business.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I have been coming here for three years now. Once off season and twice in the heat of summer. And each time the staff and owners have attested is the exact same. They are always pleasant and willing to help. This time the owner offered us a room on the water with no extra charge. No complaint here ever!! Best view, great room, nice people. They offer coffee and breakfast in the morning, an awesome dock, and tons of boats to rent if you in the mood. Will keep coming back!!!

Yelp
Been here twice in 2 years and cant wait to go back. Racquel is wonderful and her dog Cody adorable. Small quaint place right on Lake Winny, who could ask for a more perfect setting. Its far enough away from the noise of the main area but close enough to be only minutes away of you chose to. Racquel makes homemade muffins and the best coffee for the Lazy mornings that we all deserve. I call this my Happy Place!

Yelp
This is the best place to stay in Alton Bay if you are not renting a house. It is on the water. Great, clean swimming. Boat and jetski rental right there - which is awesome. Nice folks. This is where my family has friends stay if we can't fit everyone.

Yelp
What a gem! Raquel, the owner, made us feel at home; I can't remember the last time that I stayed at an Inn and felt this comfortable and cared about. I have to admit that the older I get, the more I like creature comforts and in fact, really love a cushy, boutique high line hotel. The Bay Side is not that; it is more casual. I LOVED the Bay Side. It is a gorgeous property with nice, updated and clean rooms-ours had a spectacular view of the lake. The grounds are immaculate and beautiful, like a neighbor's perfect back yard with carefully tended annual flowers everywhere. AND the best covered pavilion with large TV, fireplace, really nice chairs and a state of the art grill and kitchen with fridge. We brought food and after a busy day, happily sank into the chairs overlooking the lake and ate. We loved the atmosphere and view so much that we didn't want to go anywhere. One day we hiked Mount Major(at their suggestion) and the next day we attended a local family event. We talked to others who were staying there, and met lovely people. It felt so good it was like being in a time warp...they way things used to be--you talk to people and enjoy meeting people and learning about who they are, where they are from and what they are doing. There are boats to rent, free kayaks, the world's friendliest and cutest dog to pet and hang out with. It's making me want to come back every year just like the other folks who are regulars. Why not? Thank you Raquel and the wonderful young guys and women who work there and are so nice and care about making sure you have everything you need. The sunsets, the rows of gorgeous flowering petunias everywhere, the chairs and benches that call out to you to relax....it's old fashioned perfection.

Yelp
We had a really nice one night stay here. It is not a super fancy place but it's clean and comfortable and has a great location just steps from Lake Winnipesaukee. There are two guest options, either motel style rooms or weekly efficiency units. It is family run and everybody was friendly and helpful. The continental breakfast included OJ, good coffee, toast and english muffins with jellies. My wife, who can be picky (I know, how does one account for me?) would like to return; she loved the chairs on our balcony looking out over the lake. One really great extra on site is a separate, covered pavilion with a large common fridge, water, prep areas and a large gas grill where you can cook your own food (nearby restaurant options are limited). This pavilion also has a large fireplace and a big screen TV.

Yelp
Rented a pontoon boat from Lakeside Rentals here at the inn. The boat was a great addition to our trip. Even better were the excellent recommendations and "training" provided by the owner. The time spent before heading out was well worth it. We will be back and rent again!

Yelp
190.00 a night for a basic motel room. For that price like most hotel motels, you would get at least a mini fridge, microwave, or a small coffee maker. Nope! The refrigerator is a community fridge across the parking lot. No microwave even in main house. I ask owner if she could microwave my breakfast sandwich, and says I'll see what I can do. I asked for a couple of small favors for 190.00 per night like can I use a fork, let me see what I can do. It seemed that anything I ask of her was putting her out or I was asking for the moon. So I have to say terrible customer service, to much money for a bed,tv and a shower. Yes the lake is beautiful, but give the customer the basic amenities for keeping food cold,or a microwave to heat there food, and a small coffee maker. Not asking for much here. Sorry to say, not coming back for this inflated price. Be well

Yelp
A friend recently held the reception after her husbands funeral service under the gazebo beside the inn. The food was good, the bar service friendly, the view spectacular. She told us after the event, ontop of paying for the catering and 2 rooms at the Inn for family, she was charged an extra $500 for "insurance", for a party under a gazebo that is made for parties. One star for taking advantage of a widow at her worst time in life.
