Bay Village Tropical Retreat

I wish i could give 0 star to this property. We booked a room for us for christmas holidays, when we reached there they took us to a room which was extremely smelly with super old furniture, the ac was noisy, we could not even breath there, my 1 year old kept crying until we left the room. We talked to the reception, they showed us another room which was smelling too. We liked one room but it was small, we asked the reception if they could give us an extra bed or at least a cot for the baby which they refused and told us to stay in the smelly room instead. We had to spent the night in the car. There are way better options nearby with the same amount of money. I dont recommend this place to anyone. The rooms are different from what they show in the picture. If you like your money dont go for this one!

The bed, pillows and sheets were very comfortable. The room was large, and clean and quiet. We had 2 outdoor areas 2 sit. |The front desk staff was very helpful and pleasant. We stayed 8 nights and it was most enjoyable. We loved the pool.

It was my first time visiting Cairns, and Jennifer, the receptionist at Bay Village, thoughtfully planned activities for me to make the most of my stay. She is not only kind and professional but also an excellent host, making me feel very welcome. On her recommendation, I tried the Nasi Goreng at Bayleaf Restaurant, which was absolutely delicious. I would also like to thank Iffat, who looked after me that evening with a warm and kind smile. Both Jennifer and Iffat provided outstanding service and made my experience truly memorable.

Good position. I found all those tropical trees around the room with the swimming pool so romantic. In the morning I could hear the birds. I had a very natural feeling. This is Australia

All around great experience, rooms are a little noisy. Friendly staff, nice pool, good restaurant ( Balinese cuisine ). Rooms were very clean and spacious. Has a spot for your (rental) car, it is limited to like 8 cars though. Would go again

Good location can walk into town, Our self contained 2 bedroom apartment was full of ants, dirty, taps don't work properly the air cons smell! It's disgusting. There isn't enough secure parking which was part of our room apparently. It's very old and dated. When we checked in the women was so so so rude, we were an inconvenience because we were checking in. We were told 100 deposit must be paid, we did so this was for damages ECT, they still haven't given it back and when I called and asked them they said they haven't go around to it yet! If I could give 1/2 star I would

Rooms were disgusting! Human fesses around toilet paper holder, dead skin cells and dirt caked onto the wall where towels are hung, shower head was dirty and blocked. Around light switches were dirty marks and very grotty. Didn’t look like any cupboard handles had ever been wiped down. Very disappointed and disgusted. Told hotel reception about it and showed photos but all they said was sorry. No offer for refund or credit or anything. Was told our room would be a 20min wait upon check-in but waited over a hour for a dirty room that still had wet floors and slippery. Location was the only good thing, being in walking distance to a lot of things.

Food & service was excellent. So friendly and welcoming. Well priced & close enough to everything with a car or uber. Bed was comfortable & plenty of storage. Overall we had a pleasant stay.

The two of us were put into a family room which gave us plenty of space. The bedroom was separate and had nothing else in it but a bed and bedside tables. The TV, kitchen, wardrobe and other two beds were in the living room. The place was clean and serviced each day. There were a couple of maintenance issues. The cold water tap screamed when it was turned on and scared us each time we washed our hands. The disappointing aspect was the smoking on the walkway outside our room and around the pool. The motel is located well and you need to try the Balinese restaurant in the same building. There is off street parking but parking in the street is OK even though it is opposite the hospital.

Nice hotel, very friendly service. Pros: based on other reviews online, seems like they really listen bc many issues seem fixed. Nice AC in room. Good shower pressure. Spacious rooms. There are room only retreat accommodations on one side and apartments across the street. We stayed in room only. Nice room fans and AC although common room w extra small beds can be a little warm. Free sunscreen and bug spray in common area. Small but nice pool. Free pool towels. Lots of lounge chairs outside of the rooms. Laundry facilities with $4 for wash and $4 for dry. $2 to get a packet of detergent from front desk. Although the wash is so short, 25min, that we had to wash twice to get the detergent streaks out of clothes. Nice common areas. Friendly Grocer store and a few smaller restaurants about 5 to 10 min walk from here. 2 blocks from esplanade. 15min taxi ride from airport, about $25 Cons: 20 min brisk walk to the main pier and food places. This can be surprisingly tiring in the heat and humidity. WiFi only free for one device. Other devices are $5 for entire stay (at least 7days). The walls are thin so you can hear others walking around outside but we didn't have any issues. Smoking trays outside of rooms, but didn't have too many issues with smoke getting into our specific room yet. Not many outlets in room, had to use the kitchen outlet for phone charging. Otherwise pretty nice stay! Very relaxing.

Place was very motel looking. Would not recommend staying here. The pictures are very misleading. The beds are super uncomfortable and the walls have dings and paint missing. And our fridge is brown on the outside
