Absolutely friendly staff. The welcome package was really pleasant and very thoughtful. especially if you have a long flight behind you. The room are a little bit outdated but perfectly clean and quiet, even as the motel lies close to a main road. A bit out of the way, so you should plan a bit of driving. But definitely a very positive experience.

Sweetest little place. The rooms are super clean, and the decor was adorable. Our bathroom curtains with block boats was super cute. The TV was super small, but if you are coming here to watch TV then you are missing the point. The bed was big a comfy, the pillows were soft, and the sheets were clean. The best part was the care. At first glance thus place looks old, but the care they put in to even the plants around the parking lot shows how much they love their business. They even went as far as providing handmade care packages when you arrive, and gift cards for Dunkin Donuts for breakfast. This wasn't the Hilton by any standard, but this was better because you felt the love. We're coming back!

This motel had the friendliest staff I've ever seen. The room was very clean. We also got a welcome goody bag when we checked in. It had some water, fruits, and other snacks. This motel is also fairly close to downtown and some nice beaches.

My boyfriend and I were given a room right next to the office, having wanted more privacy we asked to be moved which was no problem at all. The rooms were super clean and all staff encounters were friendly. Nice little welcome bag and a restaurant/bar and ice cream shop in walking distance. Highly highly recommended.

This place is interesting. The reviews said that it was wonderful, which is why we went. But i would really say it was amazing. It is really a typical motel. All outside, no internal hallways. There is no breakfast, but they do give you a 5 dollar gift card for each person, for a nearby Dunkan Donuts (which is enough for one donut and one cup of coffee). The bed was wonderful. It was foam and just super comfy. But, I kept getting woke up throughout the night, because the window was open and the hotel is right on a loud street. Why was the window open, you might ask. Because there is no central AC system, so it's a window unit, and the window is nailed and immoble in the semi open position for the AC. Because of that, every car sound came right in. Overall, it felt too expensive for what we got. However, everything in Newport is very expensive apparently, so maybe 160/night is not that bad.

We stayed at the Bay Willows in 9/21/17-9/23/17. It was hard to tell online if if would be the best fit for us, but the price was right and the reviews were great. Making a reservation was super easy. Every single person I spoke with was so friendly. They allowed late check in, with an awesome welcome bag that was filled with water bottles, fruit and other snacks. It was so perfect after a long ride there! The rooms are simple, but very clean. We had zero issues on this front. None of the fabric or furniture matches (window treatments plain, bed spread floral, desk granite, bathroom old school pink tile), but it really adds to the uniqueness and fun of the place. I cant even complain, I loved it! Parking is easy. Bay Willows is private and provided us with the quiet night's sleep we were looking for (other than the AC unit which was a little loud, but kept the room at the perfect temperature). I didn't notice any outside seating, but we were not at the Inn for long. We were out exploring Newport! We took an Uber in to Newport. Bay Willows is close to all the local shops, bars, restaurants and everything. It was just perfect. We are so happy we stayed and cannot wait to visit again.

Wonderfully helpful staff. Clean as a whistle. Bistro chairs outside each room. Comfy bed and fluffy pillows. Close drive to everything. Makes a Newport stay affordable. Not enough electrical outlets however. Bring a power strip or two.

Friendly and helpful staff! The Inn accommodated us with 3 dogs and we appreciated the front sitting area which was separate from the bedroom. Very convenient parking right outside the room. We will stay again. Basic amenities included was all we required.

Yelp
We all understand budget lodgings. You expect the out of date nature of the location, the run down look, and you expect that you will get what you pay for. I thought I new what I was getting myself into by staying at Bay Willows Inn, and I was pleasantly surprised that it was better than I expected. Our first phone call was with a lovely woman, who has a pretty thick accent. There were times that I didn't quite understand what she was saying, but really that is on me. She was so pleasant that I found it endearing. Upon arrival the Inn looks dated, but you can tell from the plants that they enjoy keeping up the location. Everything outside is old, but in great condition. So far it is better than I expected. When I checked in the dude at the counter was great. We filled out the stuff, processed my card, and then I got a goodie bad with some fruit, chips, granola bars, and bottled water. It was a plain paper bag with Bay Willows Inn written in sharpie. Is it a professionally printed bag that obviously costs an arm and a leg? No. It is a project of love that is absolutely adorable? Yes! He also said they don't do breakfast, but gave us 4 gift cards to the Dunkin Donuts across the street! Awesome! The room is just like the rest of the place. It is a little dated, but it seems clean. Visible surfaces are clean, floor is vacuumed, the shockingly pink tile in the bathroom is scrubbed. The ultra bright vanity mirror above the sink is spotless. The window unit air conditioning was set to 65, and pumping away. Everything is way better than expected. We had just driven 15 hours to get here, and the first thing we did was jump in the shower. Water pressure wasn't top notch, but the water was hot and the shower was massive. It was not one of those tub inserts that you get at the chain places, but a hand tiled shower with a 6 inch lip and a floor drain. I'm a big dude, and I'm used to rubbing my shoulders against the curtain in hotel showers, but the shower stall in this place is massively huge and awesome. I love it. I also love the childlike curtain in the bathroom with the boats. The TV is small, and awkwardly placed, but we didn't come here to lock ourselves in the room and watch netflix. The wifi didn't work when we got here, but I requested that he cycle the router, and everything is up and running. I asked where could get craft beer, and he gave me a great suggestion. At the end of this diatribe what you can walk away from is this. Bay Willows Inn is a labor of love. They don't have Hilton money to do inconsequential updates, but they care so much more than any chain hotel manager every would. Everything is dated, but wonderful. Everything is older, but loved. Everything is home spun, but so much more meaningful. I am so glad we booked this stay.

Yelp
Theres 'Retro', then theres this place. It looks nothing like their website, its run down. The furnishings are beat up and look like they came from the salvation army thrift. This appears to be one one of those places where the locals go to party, nothing but sketchy/creepy people hanging around the unlit area outside my room. There were people living there, and unregisted vehicles. The doors are a major issue, you can tell they have been kicked in, the lock plates arent even on correct..check my pics. The whole door jiggles due to this, a good push and the door would come open. I wanted to take my child and leave last nite from the loud party noise and non stop F bombs, and marijuana smell..but it was dark, and I was afraid to go outside..I should have left when all the police vehicles were there. But, I got up at 5am and took off. Did I forget to mention the NASTY old indoor/outdoor carpet. Its sticky, and full of stains and cigarette burns, and musty. Oh, and the pillows..OMG!..all 4 were filled with chunks of foam. I would have left immediately but my floors at home were being refinished, and I had to be out for 3 days..this was the ONLY place I could find that took dogs. I paid over $400 for 2 nites of hell!

Yelp
Don't be fooled by the pretty sign. This is the only new thing about this place. I think desi and Lucy stayed here in the 1950's. Surprisingly it was comfortable and clean. The whole arrangement of the room was inconvenient with tiny bath- shower combo and nowhere outside the bathroom to do your toilette. Water was hot and plentiful. Sitting was in an anteroom which had a door that had to be closed to access the bath. Stay if you must and want to save money. Not a place for a special weekend

MC B.

Yelp
We chose this place for a girls weekend getaway to Newport because of price, and availability. We happened to plan the weekend before knowing that it was coinciding with the Jazz Festival, which explains why everything else was booked up, and this place had only 2 rooms left at the time we booked it. It was the cheapest we could find, but still pretty pricy (although not by Newport standards). The location is great, it's a 5 minute drive to put you right in the middle of Newport. Easy to find, ample parking, clean and safe parking lot and surrounding area. We had Room 19, which had it's own cute little front porch area. The dead-bolt lock on the door didn't work - the main lock on the doorknob did work, but I tend to prefer the added security of a deadbolt when staying in hotels. The room itself was clean, but definitely had a 1970's vibe from the walls, carpet, curtains, dark wood furniture, fixtures and the bathroom (black and pink tile!) They also tried really hard for the nautical theme to go along with the beach theme...didn't always pull it off. Speaking of pulling it off, my friend closed off the door that separates the "foyer" of the room from the sleeping area and the doorknob literally came off in her hand when she pulled it to try to get it open again. The staff were nice and friendly. We checked in around midnight and the gentleman waited to give us the key instead of just leaving it for us like he had said he would. Although, this could have been because we originally we bringing 2 dogs with us, and changed our mind last minute so he may have wanted to make sure he didn't have to charge us for dogs. He gave us a little "goody" bag with an apple, bottle of water, cookies, Starburst, and 2 Dunkin Donut gift cards for $5.00 which was unexpected and a nice surprise! They had an area set up in the lobby with coffee and tea. The shower worked well, water was hot and a good pressure. The towels were larger than most cheap hotel towels, and there were extras in the closet, along with extra pillows... there was a lovechair in the "foyer" that could pull out to sleep one more person, so the extras were probably for if there were a 3rd person, but only having 2 people, we enjoyed the extras being there. No hair dryer in the room, but the front desk ran one over to us when we asked for one. The phone in the room is the old school Conair phones, and they don't work...also a bit entertaining. The rooms are very dated, yes...but they're clean and comfortable. And what are you in Newport for?? Probably not to stay in your hotel room all day... It served it's purpose as a place to sleep each night, and to take a shower. My friend and I are not very high-maintenance and we saw it as an adventure, and really enjoyed ourselves. More "prissy" people may have problems with this place. For future visits, I would probably look around at my other options, but if it came down to having to stay here again, I totally would.

Yelp
What a charming little spot! Comfortable King size mattress, free $5 gift card to Dunkin Donuts for breakfast which is across the street and a welcome bag with fruit, water and granola bars (what a nice gesture!). There's flowers and plants everywhere and the room was spotless. The bed sheets and towels smelled so good and the bathroom sparkled. I loved our stay at Bay Willows Inn.

Yelp
We made a reservation and guaranteed it with a credit card. We cancelled within the cancellation grace period. This morning we were notified by the credit card company that Bay Willows Inn attempted to put an additional four charges against the card. The card has been cancelled. We filed a police report this morning.

Yelp
The motel itself was fine. It was clean enough, good location, and the staff was friendly. My only complaint is that, having booked through hotels dot com, I wound up paying almost $150 for one (Saturday) night. Granted I should have been a little more savvy but come on.

Yelp
This place may not look like an amazing spot from the outside but really it is a great little hotel! I stayed there recently while in town for a wedding and it is VERY clean. VERY clean! This comes from someone who at 9 traveled with her own sheets due to a fear of germs (seriously- my mother had to wrap me up like a burrito because of my need to be protected from germs). Bay Willows doesn't have all the frills of some hotels but can I again mention the clean factor? They've got a little fridge in the room, a microwave, and a coffee maker- you can get a hair dryer and iron from the front office (you can also grab any of the hundreds of brochures for the attractions in the office as well). There was a full sized ironing board in my room as well as a fan (the AC keeps it cool though). Oh, and they've got free wireless internet. I wasn't expecting that so it was great! The guy in the front office was super nice and very helpful. This is a great spot for people who want to use a hotel for showering and sleeping! I'd stay there again for sure!

Yelp
For $89 a night on a Saturday night, you can't complain. Especially since the next cheapest thing is $50 more. This is a bare bones place - a place to lay your head at night. I would have given it 4 stars for being so clean and not that far from Newport (although not walking distance), but there was a motel kind of smell in our room that brought the review down to 3 stars. Overall, it was very clean and spacious (even had a sitting area with microwave and fridge). There are also bikes you can borrow although I'm not sure where you would take them since the road to Newport is 4 miles or so (on the road, not sidewalk or path).

Greg B.

Yelp
I'm pretty sure we got the last hotel room in and around Newport this Saturday. Place was cheap compared to all the other spots in the area. Super friendly couple working at the front desk. He explained some of the rooms are a little dated but everything was clean and the shower pressure was dynamite and eased my hangover. We got goody bags and Dunkin gifts cards. Would totally stay again.

Yelp
Wanted to stay near Newport and not break the bank on a room and spend money elsewhere. This motel fit the bill. The room was small with a very small shower 30"x32". The bed was okay (bouncy) and the window ac was functional, although took a little while to make the room cold and the avg night temp was low 60s. Received a small gift bag upon check in which was a nice touch (bananas, apples, granola bars, chips , candy, water). The TV was an old tube (30") with a blurry screen and distorted color, We didn't spend much time in the room so overall it served it's purpose. Most important, the room was clean, even the shower curtain. Daily housekeeping was making the bed, clean towels and refilling supplies as needed ( toilet paper etc). but the room was not "cleaned" cleaned during our stay and the sheets weren't changed. However, we don't change our sheets at home daily nor clean the bathroom every day so all was good. Good location for traveling to Newport and surrounding areas.

Yelp
To be frank, Timothy E's review pretty much sums it up fairly and on the mark. My sense is this motel is owned and operated by an immigrant family (Eastern European?), father, mother, and daughter, all of whom pitch in to make their modest motel as pleasant and clean an experience as they can. If you want a large, big name hotel experience--flat screen TV, up dated decor, more luxurious amenities--then book yourself into one of those properties. And pay the Newport prices. I will admit, when I first pulled in to the motel, I felt some pangs of regret--the whole 60's feel--but the young lady at the registration desk greeted me with such a friendly, warm smile and handed me a paper bag with complimentary fruit and goodies, it set the tone for making me be in a more open minded mood for the rest of the experience. If that sounds like something that will work for you, you'll find this property to be a real, economical bargain for your stay in Newport.

Yelp
I stayed at the Bays Willow Inn while attending a wedding at the Glen Manor before heading to Block Island. I would probably not stay here again. While the staff is VERY friendly and the rooms appear clean and we'll stocked, the rooms smell old and damp. This place needs the carpets pulled and replaced. I certainly didn't expect much for the price but because of the staff I wanted to like this place more than I can. The mildew was enough to make me congested in the morning and I didn't linger once I woke up...i was back on the road by 7 a.m. I give it three stars because of the staff and low price. If they would clean up the grounds and change the carpets in the rooms this would be a great dive near Newport. FYI, right across the street is Bossman Burgers...check it out on yelp...i think you will like.

Yelp
If you can look past an older hotel that is in need of updates, but is extremely clean then this is the place for you. I could not have asked for a friendlier staff who are willing to meet your needs. I was so impressed that the special accommodations I placed in the comment section were all setup for me upon check-in to the hotel room. What an extra special treat was the welcome bag with snacks and goodies. The biggest plus was the 5-10 minute drive to Newport and 15-20 minute drive to Jamestown. The price and location cannot be beat!

Yelp
Stayed here from Wednesday to Tuesday. I had a wedding on Saturday and bay willows was the most affordable I could find. The man who did the reservation over the phone was very nice. The lady at the front desk when I checked in was also very nice. I didn't take any pictures but it was a room with a king size bed and another small separate room that had a couch , fridge and microwave. The only complaints I have are that the rooms are out dated. Everything is old. The room had a musty smell. The shower was so small you barely have room to move. Also they only charged $59 per night because it's off season in newport but increased the fee to$159 for Friday and Saturday, the place was clean and quiet, housekeepers helpful and everyone who works there was nice and helpful but in my opinion not worth $159. Again it was a holiday weekend and this is the best I could find for a mostly reasonable price. I would stay here again.

Patricia B.

Yelp
The Bay WIllows Inn is very old but *very*clean. That lady that posted the negative reivew does not give an accurate picture. It's a well-maintained older hotel that's good for people looking for a cheap, clean, quiet, safe place to stay. Let's face it. It is not a resort. It doesn't have a pool or a dining room. The "continental breakfast" is a $5.00 card for Dunkin Donuts across the street. The bathrooms have updated fixtures (bath, toilet, etc.), but the original pink and black tiles. The walls of the bedroom were painted-over paneling. The ceilings are low. Outside each room are those plastic stackable chairs everyone had on their decks a few years back. But also outside are *many* *Huge* pots of flowers. That said. It's a great, inexpensive place to stay for one or two nights if you're in the Newport area for wedding or a graduation, or just on the way to some place else--as was my circumstance. I think the staff knows that they are catering to a clientele on a budget. As the previous reviewer indicated, each room has a window air conditioner, a dorm-sized refrigerator, a microwave, and a coffee pot. There was a table with chairs. I had asked for a hair dryer, and one was in the bathroom when I got there. So. The four stars are *not* because this place was fancy--because it certainly isn't--but because it's clean and cheap and well run.

Keith P.

Yelp
First off the address is listed wrong it's 1225 but this is a nice bang for your buck really close to Newport for a good price the hotel is clean beds are nice ac works the dunks gift cards for breakfast are better then nothing especially since it's right across the street all around great place for the money

Joana M.

Yelp
Poor no heat no hot water have to use an electric heater which room is still cold water in shower goes to warm then cold never hot horrible hotel. Its great in the summer thou
