Definitely more of a boutique hotel than a bed & breakfast (which is not in any way a bad thing), the opportunity to stay in a historic 19th century townhome overlooking Dean Village (which the original owner had also established) was a wonderful treat. There remain some gorgeous architectural touches from that era in the building, updated a bit for the modern traveler. The room was spacious, and the breakfast served in the lovely and sunny breakfast room each morning was absolutely gorgeous, with a variety of a la carte options with fresh tea, coffee, fruit, and more, which you could take your time to enjoy while contemplating the day ahead. ||Note, for those who may have restricted mobility, that there are many stairs throughout. Although a small lift (elevator) is available there are some mid-floors that won't be fully accessible this way so you must be prepared. ||Some of the rooms may feel outdated to some, but to me they reflected more historical charm than neglect. The hotel sits on a quiet street that feels quite safe even at night (there is a larger hotel down the road), and is within convenient walking distance to Old Town, the Royal Mile and all the typical sights. The service was kind and welcoming. There's also a wonderful pub a few blocks away if you're looking for some supper and a nightcap.
