Be Playa

Be Playa is a great choice for hotel in Playa Del Carmen. The rooms are spacious, luxurious, and have upscale amenities like a large bathtub in the center of the room, as well as Hollywood-style mirror lights in the vanity set. The beds are particularly comfortable! The hotel is attached to a sushi restaurant, and across the street are local Mexican food vendors that are delicious! The rooftop pool has a quiet, chic ambiance that is perfect for relaxation.

Owner/manager was extremely rude and overbearing on guests personal lives. If you want to have relations with someone you meet while on vacation, or have a friend come visit you at the hotel, you can’t. The owner will ban you from bringing anyone else to the room no matter how short they stay. He took away my key card for trying to bring someone up with me, and asked invasive questions. He talked down to me like I was a child. As a solo female traveler this was a very unsettling situation. I have never had this issue during any other travel experiences. The manager acts on his own whims as it is a small boutique hotel without proper policies. Additionally there were problems with the room quality. The shower leaks out onto the floor and there wasn’t sufficient housekeeping service to replace sheets and towels.

The manager here is absolutely disgusting. I booked one night through booking fory wedding and then asked to extend for another night, explaining it would be the night before the wedding for myself only. They said it would be no problem but they didn't book the room. I tried to show them where they had confirmed the room on booking but the manager was EXTREMELY rude, telling me that the "Contact the Property" option on booking isn't them (it is) and that they didn't have my booking. Incredibly poor service when somebody has specifically mentioned that this will be their wedding. This guy was very quick to get angry and made comments which were borderline racist. He should not be in managers role when suffering from small man syndrome.||Next the heavy wardrobe collapsed on me whilst I was brushing my teeth at the sink unit in front. Causing a significant blow to my head. ||Then as if this wasn't enough. We arrived on the night of the wedding with the key we received earlier and it didn't work. One hour later and nobody had attended reception or answered the phone. We had to take a taxi to another hotel. I contacted booking during this hour but they couldn't make contact either. ||When we went for our things the next day I was told by the reception that they had let the manager know about the contact from booking, and he had said that he wasn't going to refund. Obviously booking are refunding my money though given the we didnt receive the paid service. AVOID THIS HOTEL!!!!

Last minute booking. They did a great job and handled every request with grace and elegance. Upgrade to the Jacuzzi rooms. Walked to the beach and Great location for food. The best. Update. My flight screwed up my flight and I had to stay another night even though I checked out for a few days. They made a last minute booking just for me and welcomed me back like family. The hotel makes you feel special. It has characters and authentic charm. The people working there are amazing and saved me.

Absolutely criminal situation going on here. No hot water, barely any water pressure. Loud, LOUD music from noon till 3am every day. The insult to injury, try to go to the bar that prevents you from sleeping to have a beer. They want to extort an extra $20 from you just to enter. ||||I've been to over 90 countries. This is the worst most 3rd world experience I've ever had. In a civilized place this hotel would be shut down within 24 hours. ||||This "hotel" should be condemned.

Really frustrated, me and my boyfriend wanted a night out in playa and we were staying at Riu tequila but booked this on a whim! Sooooo disappointed! The roof top bar was 1000000% but the actual hotel part was awful! To the point we had no remote and the receptionist gave us a spare and then when that didn’t work told us that was it…. Disappointed beyond belief

My friends were booked to stay here on their wedding night. The hotel ruined their special night for them. The key card didn't work and no night staff, so they couldn't get into their room. The manager was mean to them and didn't apologise for the massive inconvenience caused.

I wouldn't recommend booking this hotel. After reading terrible reviews about it, I emailed the hotel twice to confirm my reservation, requesting a quiet room and they did not respond to my emails. That just goes to shows how great your stay would be.

Well, what turned out to be a really great experience, turned out to many nights of not sleeping. When we arrived that evening to check in, they did say that they had light music on the roof. But that was far from the truth what was light music was basically a rock band, techno, and Caribbean music that could probably be heard from blocks away. It wasn't light music by any means, out of the 10 days we were there we only were able to sleep through two nights, and I understand that it's a holiday and believe me we love to drink and have fun as well, but when it's after 4 AM and we still haven't slept. That's another problem. We had free breakfast which every morning was absolutely delicious and it came with either coffee or homemade juice. But as for us ever staying in this Be Playa we wouldn't recommend it if you actually wanna sleep, but if you're looking to party, then this is the place for you.

The service here was great. Location is nice. Right off of 5th Avenue. The room was quiet. Free breakfast made to order, just light bites, but pretty good. The front desk was always assistive. The only thing that was wrong here was the mattress. When the sheet came off the bed, the mattress was filthy. I didn't want to sleep on the bed anymore. I stayed here pre-COVID.

Great location for hotel one block off fifth avenue. Staff is friendly and rooms are clean. Wish the room had a fridge for keeping cold beer...that is my only complaint. They have a roof top bar for later in the day. But if you stay here, it's mostly about the location. Breakfast is provided with reservation on Hotels.con. Thought the price was very fair.

Horrific customer service. After cancelling my initial reservation and attempting to re-book a different date, the hotel refused to apply my initial deposit to the rescheduled reservation. Such a simple ask and received with an unreasonable refusal to accommodate. There is a reason that the rates are so low. These folks don't understand the concept of "reasonable accommodation." Stay away.

Cool little rooftop pool. The vibe and music is chill. The cost is 200 pesos per person but that goes towards your food and drinks. For a bed is 2000 but worth it. The smoothies are fresh and amazing at only 70 pesos each. If you want to get some sun and relax with out loud music this is the place to "Be"!

Nice place, but the internet is unusable. Paying for high speed so I could work from here added 600 US dollars to the cost. Not for digital nomads.

The hotel was wonderful. I think the staff were great, the rooftop was awesome, and the room was great too. I definitely recommend staying. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was because we got a room with a tub, and the water was very lukewarm but that is just a normal thing at even the most expensive resort here. So if you pay for a room with a tub just don't expect it to be super hot. It also wasn't always the cleanest. I did buy some Ajax and scrubbed it down myself, however some of the stuff in the tub wouldn't come out. It wasn't bad though, we still used the tub. We even had some guys come like three days in a row to fix the temperature which I appreciate, however this temperature of water is normal for Mexico. Also the showers didn't have the best drainage so water got outside a lot. Outside of that though the pool is very nice, breakfast is pretty good, and they give you towels for the beach, if you ask & for if you go to xcaret or anything like that. They also gave us two free drinks for the bar at the rooftop. They also don't have a microwave or a fridge, however, when we asked if they had a fridge, they brought us a mini fridge which was super kind. The maids cleaned & made our beds really well. However, some of the towels had stains on them, which they smelled fine and washed, just some stains they probably weren't able to remove. The pictures below are from my own camera.

I used to love Be Playa. I've sent a lot of business to them. However, they completely screwed me on a prepaid reservation that I just needed to change dates for as the others in my group couldn't go that day. They will keep nearly $400 and not refund me despite two months notice, and then re-rent the same room in July. I've tried to get them to be understanding and Expedia has tried, but they refuse. They'll lose the business of the friends that we're going to join on the new dates and ALL future business. Don't do business with them.

Really nice Botique hotel right off the strip of 5th ave. Includes really good cooked to order breakfast in the sushi restaurant downstairs. Rooms were very nice and big. Got a junior suite with a jacuzzi which was perfect and relaxing. Staff was incredible. I told the front desk that it was my wife's birthday and they decorated the room with rose petals and a bottle of champagne. Would definitely stay here again!

My husband and I just got back from 4 days Playa del Carmen. Our stay at Be Playa Hotel definitely contributed to the great time we had. Our junior suite was just what we needed. Beautifully decorated, a comfortable kingsize bed, enough lighting, a jacuzzi, and 2 rain showers right next to each other. Wifi in the room worked excellent, and the balcony was a plus as well. Our room was cleaned perfectly every day, and the people at the front desk were friendly, helpful and welcoming. Breakfast is served in the sushi restaurant next door. You get to choose a starter and main every morning, and it comes with a bread basket too. We thought breakfast was awesome. The pool, bar and lounge area was amazing but maybe not so relaxing if you don't like the loud music. We had the opportunity to hang out at the pool twice. One other time I thought it was way too busy so I left it. The hotel is a 5 minute walk from the beach, and shops, ATMs and restaurants are just around the corner. We rented a car and parking in the area wasn't a problem; we usually parked a 5 minute walk from the hotel. We had a wonderful time at Be Playa and would return if we visit Playa del Carmen again.

Easily one of the nicest hotels I've ever stayed at. We felt so welcomed upon arrival. The receptionist was helpful and nice. He escorted us to our room and showed us where everything was. He also recommended places to eat and things to do in playa. We also got a free welcome drink, free breakfast, and 15% off of the sushi restaurant during our entire stay. The sushi is amazing by the way, definitely one of the best sushi restaurants I've ever been to. The fish was fresh and well prepared. I'd recommend the New York roll. The rooftop is beautiful and has views of the city. The location is right in the heart of playa del Carmen. Overall a wonderful hotel, and I'd definitely recommend it.

Very chic smaller hotel in the middle of all the action in Playa del Carmen. The decor is awesome with its eclectic vintage feel in the lobby. In the rooms were more of a modern contemporary feel. We loved it, the service was five stars for sure. The minute we walked in to the second we left, Hector and Laura never let us down. They both gave us their honest opinions about where to go and what to do while visiting Playa del Carmen. We didn't get much time to enjoy the rooftop pool/bar but we checked it out before leaving and it was a pretty cool view. We also did not get to eat at the sushi spot located in the hotel. There was free breakfast every morning which we took full advantage of. It was the same every day, not complaining though. It's free! It included coffee or tea, yogurt or fresh fruit, "Mexican style" eggs or chilequiles or scrambled eggs with ham and cheese option. There is a building be constructed across the street which means noise but it didn't bother us because we were up before they started and came back after they were finished for the day. Only complaint, the tub wasn't really working in room 107. We were looking forward to soaking in the beautiful jacuzzi tub when we booked, but the hot water pressure was terrible. Would have taken hours to fill. Ok maybe two, the room smelled very moist or mildewed. Not sure why, but it wasn't too much of a bother to change rooms. Overall we really enjoyed this place and recommend it for those who want to explore rather than stay on a resort and never leave.

Great hotel in great location of Playa del Carmen. We went there for a birthday vacation and they made us feel at home. They set up birthday celebrations one day while we were gone for the day. They offer towels to take for the beach. They have bottled water always in the hotel at no charge for the guests delivered to room. We had rented a car so we could travel daily to other nearby cities. This is a good central location with many restaurants, shopping and convenience stores open late down stairs. I would highly recommend this hotel to everyone looking to stay in a comfortable place in Playa del Carmen. We plan to go back soon!

Amazing hotel in great location. Friendly staff, amazing rooms and very comfortable beds. Our room had a hot tub. The pool bar and rooftop deck was stunning. Highly recommend.

Love this place. Great place to stay if you plan on spending a vacation here seriously from check in to the restaurant discounts best place in Playa if u need tips on what to do ask the at the amazing rooftop bar.. Or the people at the front desk they want you to have a good a time and not wast a vacation like other places like "all inclusives" also the sushi bar downstairs best restaurant in Playa....

Hip, fun, friendly, close to the beach and far enough away from the clubs to be peaceful. Great pool, bar and restaurant.

Great little off the beaten bath boutique hotel. Loved the style of rooms and the crowd. A little steep in terms of pricing, they should probably lower the rate a little, as I counf it was a bit expensive for the location (NOT ON BEACH), but maybe its the month I stayed (DEC). Would stay again, but please work on a more competitive price.

5 stars, excellent customer service, nice clean rooms, felt very welcomed and appreciated, would definitely recommend to a friend and would definitely stay here again. Bonus points for having an awesome sushi restaurant downstairs with 15% off for guests. Super cute boutique hotel and a darling rooftop too. Great location off 5th ave, central to everything.
