"Join Locals in the Polar Bear Dip I’ve done this twice and it was one of the most fantastic ways to start the year! Hundreds of people gather every New Year’s Day on English Bay to watch crazy/brave souls take a Polar Bear Dip into the freezing cold water. It’s a lot of fun and, hilarious to watch, but if you have close access to a hot shower (or even better a hot tub in your hotel!) I’d recommend taking the plunge yourself. It’s definitely an unforgettable way to say hello! to the New Year and as a hangover cure it’s unbeatable!"

"Fabulous Fireworks Over English Bay See the sky over English Bay explode with color for the Honda Celebration of Light, a three-night firework contest which takes place on a barge moored in the waters beyond the sandy beachfront. The competition attracts huge crowds of around 1.4 million visitors each year, and draws competitors from around the world, including big names China and Spain . Entry is free, but you’ll need to get there early to stake a good spot. There’s entertainment with live bands beforehand, a great festival atmosphere and plenty of food trucks, beach games and barbecues to keep everybody happy."

Yelp
I've passed this cute grill at least 500 times since I moved to Van, as it's right smack dab on the seawall, just a tad south of the Burrard Bridge, and I walk the seawall all the time. You can't get a better location than this bar/grill, on a seawall corner, looking over boats in the marina, the stately Burrard Bridge, with Granville Island right across the inlet, and all the cute AquaBus ferries crisscrossing the waterway. Also, there's seating outside, literally abutting the seawall, so it's a great place to people- and dog-watch, as there is tons of foot (and paw) traffic in this area, especially when the weather is nice, as it was today. I've also always wanted to visit here, not just because of the scenic and convenient location, but also because, whenever I've passed here while it was open, the most intoxicating aromas of burgers has emanated from the restaurant, and there always seemed to be tons of happy, laughing diners sitting outside and in, with tasty looking meals and drinks on thier tables. Today was the day that I finally visited this place. And it did NOT disappoint. My kid and I snagged the best table, outside, along the rail abutting the seawall, right on the corner. Our server was the NICEST ever (wish I caught her name), and we were impressed by the menu, too. Lots of choices, very reasonably priced, too. My kid and I shared the ahi tuna tacos (we came in between lunch and dinner-time, so we weren't really hungry for a whole meal. This visit here today was an impromptu stop along our seawall walk). Those ahi tacos were fantastic! Wow, so good. And I had probably the best sangria of my life here; they made it PERFECTLY for me. My kid had a beer/sour on tap, which she loved. All in all, we had a great visit here! It could not have been better. Will return for the burgers, though. They smelled incredible.

Yelp
Your Uber driver will not be able to drop you off in front of Beach Ave Bar and Grill. Being on the water makes for a beautiful view, but it doesn't help when your wife's 81-year-old mom is dining. She was able to make it down about 20 steps, after walking several hundred feet, to finally get to the entrance. If it were my mom, we would have had to find somewhere else to eat. If you have accessibility issues, please call before you go. But, even as she struggled to get to the entrance, she was enthralled by how beautiful the setting is here. Why does anyone dine inside? The view is serene as the boats slowly slip past. There was a gentle breeze that made us think it wouldn't be so bad if they took their time making the meal. And then, the food arrived. It seemed like we had barely placed the order! Incredibly, everything seemed freshly made. Did we just lose track of time looking at the maritime activity? No...it was maybe 10 minutes from when we placed the order. The fried cod was nicely crispy, with a light taste to the fish, and not the least bit greasy. The accompanying coleslaw was likewise lightly dressed...you could actually taste the vegetables. The burger had a nice beefy taste. My son got "dirty fries", which were a bit like nachos (beans, cheese sauce, sour cream). Get an extra napkin. The poke bowl was huge. The tuna tasted good, but it was cut in 1/4" chunks...a bit small when you're trying to use chopsticks. It just took longer to pick up with chopsticks. But, the seasoning was good. With the perfectly arranged vegetables and bed of rice underneath, this is still a winner. I ate every scrap. The prices were reasonable, and as I mentioned, the service was very fast. I highly recommend this place, but accessibility is an issue.

Yelp
Let's be honest, the location gives this place all the stars. There really aren't many things better in life than sitting out on a patio on a nice sunny day with company you enjoy sharing a bite and creating memories. As can be expected, any sunny day tends to draw crowds out to the seawall so this place was no exception. Service was acceptable but it is quite the frantic/chaotic vibe. I can imagine people who don't do well with waiting to become agitated. Came for a light snack. I wouldn't say anything was extraordinary but there is fare to be had to satiate the hunger. Seafood Chowder - this was underwhelming moreso because I think the volume of "seafood" to your potato was lacking. Perhaps I just got the bad ladle. However, the croutons they used were great. Stayed crispy til the end of the bowl. Ahi Tuna Tacos - I think the heat aspect was overdone with this one with the spicy sauce and peppers. Thought less could have been more as the Ahi Tuna was just masked under the sauce. Many people were having burgers & beers. We didn't try this but maybe next time.

Yelp
First time visiting, what an amazing patio! We ordered the Calamari and Seafood Papardelle Taste 1/1* OMG was it ever the best calamari ever! No jokes, a must try!! The okra, cucumber, fried chickpeas and fresh squid going with that delicious sauce!? (Best okra we've had to date too) The mussels on the seafood Papardelle were the size of a clam... Value 1/1* Although the appy & pasta w tip ended up just under $50, tad expensive, the quality of food and view of the water made it worthwhile Service 0.5/1* Asked my pregnant wife to go around as opposed to opening the patio door, then locking us out of the restaurant even though there were still unpaid customers on patio Cleanliness 1/1* No complaints Overall/Revisit 1/1* Hell yes, JUST for the calamari! Paying for ambience? YES, for the beachfront view Above and beyond? 0/+1* Side note -1/-1* This place is like a bare minimum of 'dog friendly', cause even though dogs are allowed on patio, you have to walk around the outside of patio AND dogs are only allowed under the table, felt more like 'dog tolerated'

Yelp
We had a wonderful meal here on their heated patio on a cold, rainy day. My wife and I split their barbecue bacon cheeseburger and a seafood club. Both were well-executed. The fries were crisp, and the salad was a cut above. We were very pleased with the food. Our server was wonderfully friendly and helpful in making some recommendations. We were well cared for. We found free parking in the neighborhood nearby -- not essential but always a plus. Bottom line: We would gladly eat here again. The service and overall experience were excellent.

Yelp
Conveniently located by the false creek seawall under Burrard bridge (though not so convenient right now due to construction), it is the perfect place for brunch after a bike ride or a run. Lots of seatings inside and outside - they have a nice patio area overlooking the water, a gorgeous view. I got the mushroom eggs benny and also tried the lox (smoked salmon) and cream cheese benny. Both were delicious, but I especially enjoyed the mushroom eggs benny, and would definitely order again! I was also super impressed with the tater tots, which tasted so crispy and fresh. I've never had such good "potato" portion of this dish for me to chomp it all down. I was able to lock my bike outside, and keep an eye on it too. I could eat in comfort :)

Yelp
Hands-down, Flora's service was the highlight of eating at this restaurant with a lovely view of the marina! We had a pretty good seafood pasta dish, awesome ahi tacos, some wings, fries, chips & guac. Tiramisu cheesecake dessert was delicious, and our only small complaint was missing a garnish on top.

Yelp
With prices to travel anywhere still outrageous, playing a tourist in your own city can still be fun. I have discovered many places that I've never been or dismissed as touristy and discovered some gems. This was formerly the Pirate Pub, then a Tap and Barrel/Tap Shack. Now "reborn" again and was pleasantly surprised. Still has the great view looking over Granville Island. Brunch offered on weekends until 2 pm I believe and the offerings are solid. Decent craft beer list and a few sparkling options including reasonably priced champagne (by bottle). Service was great despite being fairly busy and possibly a bit short staffed. Chicken and waffles on point! Real waffles Real maple syrup included with no upcharge Crispy chicken Real fruit Unlike so many places, despite rising food costs, someone here really cares about and knows food based on this experience. Side of tater tots was hot - not home made but good. There were also some lunch classics on the menu, will definitely be back - it's a fairly short walk from either the false creek ferry or aqua bus from Granville Island. I appreciate the staff asking the one patron to put a shirt on. Yes it's west coast and we are by the water but I personally don't need bare feet and chest as part of my vista! You're not at a German opera!

Yelp
Decided to stop by and try this place for brunch. Let's start with the service. Right from the start the host greeted us with an amazingly welcoming energy and she happened to also serve our table, and did a brilliant job. I love Egg Bennies for breakfast and naturally decided on the Lox and Cream Cheese Benny. I asked for it to be prepared a certain way and that's exactly how it came. What really impressed me was the lox was fresh....yes! fresh! Rarely have I seen fresh lox used in breakfast items, and it was amazing. Makes such a huge difference. The Hollandaise was made beautifully different than the traditional. It had a hint of dijon with a cream base and sprinkles of spring onion. Honestly, this might sound cheesy, but the benny was put together like someone was painting their own little canvas. Every single ingredient was very delicately and carefully calculated and integrated with the rest. It had all my favourites: lox, cream cheese, red onion and spring onion, as well as capers. It tasted absolutely amazing! Even the tater tots were fresh. What else impressed me was the vibe, style and class of the place. It didn't feel like you were eating at a restaurant. It felt more like you were at someone's home who invited you to sit, enjoy their view while they make you something to eat. I loved that it was very non-commercial and very much personal. The extra effort, attention to detail and care you saw and felt constantly. Their coffee was also very good, served very tastefully. Looking forward to going back!

Yelp
Excellent bar and grill located in a very privileged spot underneath Burrard Bridge with a beautiful view. The service offered by Brittany was so courteous and fast . The place follows closely and strictly the protocol of social distance and sanitization. We had delicious Caesars , salt and pepper chicken wings and roasted hummus. We spent a lovely time, with delicious drinks and yummy appies. Was our first time , but of course not the last .

Yelp
Cute seawall bar with a small patio, beautiful views and fantastic staff!! I have visited a few times now and I recommend this bar. My first visit I had their Hickory BBQ burger which comes with bacon, chedder, lettuce, tomato, pickle and BBQ sause. I ordered mine protein style aka Lettuce wrapped. They did a fantastic job, probably one of the best protein styled burgers I've had. Their burger patties are very flavourful and not overly greasy like some bars. For my side, I subed with ceaser salad which I enjoyed so much, I ate the whole bowl before I even touched the burger. Haha They have three different flavoured mussels for $20. I have tried two of the flavours. I really like the coconut curry mussels, but honestly both are great. I have had the full size ceaser before with added chicken. The amount of chicken you get for $6 is quite sad. They do HAPPY HOUR from 3-6pm, weekdays. The happy hour here could use some love. You can get a Veggie/hot dog for $6, two beers for $5 and two wines for $5. I'm a picky wine person and I don't drink beer so it would be amazing if they had highballs on their happy hour. Would also love to see more of a food discount, maybe their mussels or appitizers :) I would never order a hotdog at a bar or restaurant; this is a me issue lol

Yelp
Amazing patio and views close to the water. We've come here for brunch a few times and have always gotten a seat.

Yelp
Just witnessed a belligerent drunk couple knock over a planter and escalate when they were cut off from alcohol service. Luckily staff and management kept their cool despite being met with yelling and threatening behaviour. Thank you Sergio for your kind and patient service under extreme pressure. Ps. The calamari is really great! Great ambiance otherwise.

Yelp
Probably the best burger I ever had in my life. And I've had a lot. We are visiting from out of town and wanted a spot that was an inclusive experience of food and scenery and it definitely exceeded our expectations. HIGHLY recommend.

Great Brunch/lunch spot and super service. We enjoyed a great break here during our bike tour of Vancouver.

Yelp
Service was great and friendly. Food was good. Burgers are amazing. No words on how good the beef patties are. We shared the nachos and no complaints there. All around great visit. We can into town for the Pens vs Vancouver game

Yelp
Food was really good however our server Roxy was terrible. She did not check on how our food was tasting, she was dismissive and seemed to dislike us from the start. Kind of ruined the experience since the restaurant is at such a nice viewpoint.

Yelp
I went to the Beach Ave Bar with a friend during our seawall walk on Saturday night and our experience was horrible right off the start. My biggest regret was not listening to my instinct when we first walked in as the energy was weird. We asked to be seated at the patio. At that time, there were about 3 tables being used so the venue was pretty quite and slow. The hostess sat us all the way in the back corner where they stack & store the extra chairs. As she placed the menus on the tables, I asked her if we could "get a better view" at which point she gave me a weird look and I started to giggle at myself as a 'better view' is not what I meant but I meant if we could be seated in the middle of the patio instead in the back corner. However, at that moment I didn't want to make a big deal of the table location so I said its fine and we sat down. The server came shortly after and took our order. Right off the bat, he was very cold & dismissive. I tried to make small talk by reiterating how silly I felt to ask the hostess for a better view. But he didn't say anything and didn't want to engage, which I found a bit odd but didn't think much of it. We ordered a bottle of wine just before 9pm and that was the end of his 'services'. As my friend and I conversed, we wanted food to share & tried to flag the server down. He kept serving the table near us several times & when he looked as though he was finished serving them, we tried calling out to him 'excuse me sir' while waving our hands but he ignored us. This happened at least 4-5 times within the 75 minutes that we were sitting. He did not check in on us at all. We had to pour our own wine from the wine bottle to top up which servers usually do for you. After about an hour later we couldnt get the server's attention & just wanted to leave. He did not check in with us - NOT ONCE to see if we were okay or if we needed something. We continued to try to flag him down to get our bill but he continued to ignore us. He ONLY FINALLY came over once the man at the next table saw what was going on and he told the server that we were trying to flag him. We asked for the bill. He came with the bill and the machine. I made a comment about how I didnt think he was even going to come with the machine and just continue to ignore us. I paid the bill and gave him 0% tip. How we were treated this night, I couldn't even justify any tip & just wanted to leave. When he saw that we left him 0% tip, he came back to the table to ask what was the reason. I was shocked that he would even be confused as to why, as it was pretty obvious. So I proceeded to explain that he completely ignored us & didn't check in on us at all. He immediately got defensive and said "you guys said you didn't wanted to eat anything and were only here for drinks" which is not true at all. We said we will start with drinks and see how it goes. But regardless, he should have check in on us. Then he said "welI didn't want to interrupt your conversation". I had to explain to him that he completely ignored us, didn't check in with us, top off our wine, NOTHING! Again he was defending his actions by saying he didnt want to bother us. At this point, I stopped engaging as the conversation was going nowhere & he took ZERO accountability and didn't apologize for any misunderstandings from his part. My friend then took over the conversation to try to explain our experience, but again he was defensive. The table next to us (with 3 people) were looking over at us and were laughing as they were being entertained with our situation. We told the server we had an audience and didn't feel comfortable and didnt want to talk about it anymore. The server then left and within less than a minute later, comes back to the table and tells us to get out of the venue immediately as we were not welcomed there anymore or in the future. So not only did we get discriminated against (I assume racially), but we were kicked out for not providing a tip. WOW! I cannot believe businesses still think its okay to operate this way.

Mike D.

Yelp
Used to be a great spot and we always looked forward to stopping here for lunch while we rode our bikes towards English Bay. Sunday just before lunch we rode up and were actually shocked to see 4 empty tables outside considering how beautiful and busy it was, usually we wait until something becomes available. The waitress was quick to come out and tell us they cannot sit us because of our bikes, we were a group of 5 with cruiser bikes and they would not allow the bikes to sit outside leaning on the railing, basically right beside our table we wanted to sit in. Never had this happen before, new owners or maybe just a grumpy waitress? The spot is great, it really is and if they haven't changed the menu the food was also always great. There are also great spots further up Beach Ave that will now get our business moving forward, spots we usually just ride past because we always stop at Pirate bar. Anybody riding bikes and want to stop here, just keep going a little further up towards Stanley Park, much better spots up here that are bike friendly.

Yelp
Beautiful little spot next to the water front. When I went I only got drinks so I cannot comment on the food but the cocktails and draft beer was on point. The food that I watched come out to each table looked delicious but I can't comment on the quality.

Yelp
Best sliders ever! Happy service and stunning view! Thank you Beach Ave for a quick happiness hour!

Yelp
Location! Location! Location! A nice selection of beer and pub fare. This place is all about the patio, and it can also be cozy place to tuck into on a rainy day. Always had reliable and cheerful service. Not sure about parking - I've only ever walked or cycled here. Also, this place is awesome for watching couples on their first dates :)

Jack S.

Yelp
Great location, great view, dumb experience. The hostess told us it would be 30-40-minutes for a patio table (the whole point of this place) and seated us inside -- we were at our table for quite literally five seconds when we saw a family leaving the patio table two metres away). The host was defensive ("well, they weren't leaving when I told you that" -- but she just hadn't checked, even though it's a very, very tiny place and they'd already paid their bill) and said they couldn't move us to another table once we sat down because of a provincial Covid-19 policy to limit unnecessary movement -- outside. It makes no sense and I haven't seen this in any other restaurants. I asked to speak to the manager which I never do -- and he was snippy and condescending. If it's a provincial policy, it's a provincial policy: but just explain that without lying (host) or being a belittling jerk (manager). I feel bad complaining, but it was all just so silly. We went next door for the same view, better food and incredible service. I live nearby and I''d been here a bunch of times, by the way -- usually when someone is visiting from out of town --- food and service are mediocre-to-bad but it's an amazing, amazing location. Never again. I guess with this view and foot traffic on the seawall, they don't need to worry about food or service.

Yelp
settled on the bbq beach burger. take-out. sent a picture to my dad and he asked for a post meal review. once i had finished i asked him if he'd ever tried it as he eats here often. he said no. and i immediately told him do not try it. this burger will ruin all other burgers for you. this wasn't just a meal. this was a experience i never wanted to end. i ran it over in my head over and over. was it just cause i was hungry? how could it be? it was almost like i had slipped into a disconnection with reality. i want to give this burger a 10/10. but that scale was not designed for a burger like this. even a 11/10 would be an insult to this burger. i am certain i will never eat something of this calibre again, and i am certain i will never forget it.

Yelp
The service and hostess were amazing, nice view and location, you can grab you beer and had have a delish bite on a patio. We were walking by there weekday night and decided to sit there and I loved how friendly and nice our hostess was.

Yelp
We live close by and have been coming to this gem of a restaurant here. It offers a beautiful view, great food, and courteous service. Their burgers are the best in town, when I had guests over the summer we took them to Beach Ave Bar and Grill. We all ordered burgers and no one was disappointed. Great place. I hear their fish and chips are good too, so I will be ordering that next.

Yelp
Glad to have this venue open again. The menu is delicious and refreshing. Thank you Shaun for your amazing making of my coffee drink. It was the perfect drink on a hot sunny day. The crap dip is delicious!

David M.

Yelp
First of all, this place is beautiful. Right on the water and in between some of the most scenic views in Vancouver. The food was phenomenal, but the waitstaff was absolutely incredible. It was like the family I never had as a child got together to serve me an awesome burger. Emily was extremely accommodating and I barely had to wait, even though Covid restrictions limit seating to the gorgeous heated patio instead of the full restaurant. There aren't enough stars in the universe to give this incredible restaurant and its staff, so I'll just settle for the 5 that Yelp allows me.

Yelp
Really happy to have this place in the neighbourhood! One of the most picturesque locations anywhere in Vancouver, with lots of people watching and boat traffic going bye. I've been here many times, and haven't been disappointed. The fish and chips are very good! Just had brunch here yesterday, and it was superb. The avocado toast was delicious, and I love the tater tots as hash browns. They make a great Caesar and have great service. Keep it up!!!

Yelp
Really enjoyed this place on our bike ride around the seawall - the beer selection was great and the spicy chicken burger was even better! Might be our new fav stop on our seawall adventures - great view too!
