This was a very pleasant surprise. It was late, we were hungry, but we wanted real food and high quality. We couldn't get a reservation anywhere in Beach Haven. We were just driving by and saw folks eating outside so we pulled in. They have a beautiful menu and also fabulous daily specials. You order at the counter and take your food to the table yourself when they call your name to let you know that it's ready. So... Wow... Superbly cooked fresh fish. Served takeout style. This is the real deal. Stunningly good. Salads, appetizers, the fish we ordered... Just fabulous... Keep this place hopping and go. Thanks for a wonderful dinner... We will be back!

Google
I may be the only person who goes in search of a good burger at place that specializes in fish, but when you hear they have THE BEST burger on LBI, challenge accepted. And this was a winner. Cooked to thick and juicy perfection, the burger was a combination of brisket, chuck and short rib. Ordinarily, I would take any one of those by itself, but combined did make for an amazing burger. And currently, I will rank it as the best I have had on the island. The fries were a great complement to this gourmet burger—nothing ordinary here. I also ordered hush puppies, as I rarely see these offered, and they were excellent. Although you could sit in various seating inside, which ranged from a booth to a barstool by the window, I chose to sit outside and enjoy the sun.

Google
Absolutely must stop by when on the island! The food is amazing, the portions are big and the atmosphere is awesome! Feels like visiting the barnacle from the movie Summer Rental except with way better food🤣 BYOB for all us drinkers. Awesome friend staff , plenty of parking for a restaurant on LBI and outdoor seating as well. Have to make it a point to stop by every summer. Thank you!

Google
The garlic steamed clams were exactly what I was craving. The night before I was a touch disappointed at Harvey Cedars Shellfish so this remedied my mood. I also loved the ahi tuna tacos. All food is served at the counter and in takeout containers which makes for a quick and easy meal. Can’t wait to try other menu items

I am well traveled and come from Northern NJ, near NYC. I know what a good meal is. I know that this place is centrally located in Beach Haven and has great reviews, but let me assure you it's not worth your while. Their fish prices are top restaurant prices with service non-existent. You pick up your food in plastic take-out containers and bring it to your table. Most importantly, after paying $39 for midsized average quality salad with a mid sized portion of salmon, the salmon came out uncooked and raw inside. I could have ordered sashimi if I wanted to eat raw salmon. My friend's salmon was less raw, but by the time she finished her meal, I finally got my recooked piece of salmon after about 25 minutes of waiting. The shrimp cocktail included six smaller than average size shrimp and were nothing special. To sum it all up, the owner didn't come out to apologize, even though we told them how disappointed we were. For a meal like that, go to Acme, pay $20 and enjoy cooking a piece of salmon in the comfort of your summer home or a hotel microwave. It's totally not a good experience! The price should reflect this low level of experience, but it doesnt. Highly disappointed!

Google
Not a bad thing to say. My family orders from The Fishery multiple times during our annual LBI week trip. Flavors are incredible. Love people whining about the prices. Make your own food in your $4M house. Keep up the great work, Fishery. Oh, we are ordering in an hour. Buffalo Shrimp for the win.

Debbi B

Google
We had the scallops scampi over pasta and is was delicious, but for the price i feel 8 scallops and less pasta would have been better. Have been coming here for years, it's very clean but prices don't match the takeout style service. Staff was very friendly, will be back.

Google
Not so great. Ordered the Atlantic cod fish and chips. It was basically a deep fried previously frozen cod filet and pretty greasy at that ( think Costco frozen cod in a box). Calamari appetizer was heavily breaded and not very appetizing. Others had tuna and that was a better meal but in all way overpriced for the quality and basically a takeout style at sit down prices.$$$ Would not recommend

Yelp
I came here with my husband because most other restaurants in town had an hour and a half plus wait. The food was good but our bill came out to almost $20 more than it should have with no explanation as to why. We sat outside at a picnic table (self seating) and ordered takeout. I am assuming the extra cost was a service charge but that seems incredibly steep for takeout. Overall we liked the food but for over $100 for two pastas and a slice of pie I would much rather prefer dining somewhere with table service. This is especially true due to the fact that there was no service charge or additional fees advertised anywhere that we could find.

Michael S.

Yelp
Really 3 1/2 stars Great for fresh fish to cook at home. Take out portions are large, but quite expensive for picnic table - plastic fork service. Some specials have indoor waiter prices topping $40 for blackboard items. The tuna in a basil wrap and the special tuna entree were hard and dry to the touch making them chewy. The Johns blushing shrimp $35 and raw clams were good. Swordfish steaks nice and fresh at $24.95 per pound. Admired the Quick kitchen service, but it resulted in constant announcements that order were done for the party of Smith & Jones etc.

Greg E.

Yelp
Hmmm, this is a tough review. The owners are unfriendly and very indifferent to their customers. Also noticed that they were a bit tough on their young staff. Lastly, expensive. Two kids chicken fingers and two adults meals came to $115. That said, the food is tasty. John's blushing shrimp and the mahi over street corn were both very good. Mussels were good too but when we ordered bread for dipping, it was a $3 hamburger roll. Clam strips were standard. Atmosphere is just ok as the place sits right on the boulevard. The loud music over the speakers didn't help either. But, the property/dining areas are very well maintained and relatively nice for a casual fish market. If money isn't a concern and you plan to eat it on your own deck, I'd say go for it. Otherwise, I'd go somewhere where customers are appreciated.

Alexis B.

Yelp
Absolutely delicious food, great people that work there and super knowledgeable! We also love that it's BYOB and no table service ! Sometimes it's nice to just sit back , relax and enjoy your meal without feeling rushed out of a restaurant . Way to go BHF we will be back like always!

Natalie K.

Yelp
I unfortunately stumbled upon this wreck of an establishment. The management does not care about its community or its customers. I wish I could give 0 stars but that is not an option.

Laura G.

Yelp
Our experience was horrible. Group of us went in to order with masks on. No explanation is needed ever to anyone as to why - especially from a low life restaurant worker. As we walked in, the rude owner screamed "Oh it must be Halloween! What is this? Look at you! Hey, can you believe this?! Why are you wearing them?!" And then proceeded to call over other workers to make fun of us. One of the group explained cancer treatments which barely shut up the rude, jeering owner. No apology. It was outrageous. Who needs this when going to spend money at a dumpy, dark place? Whatever you may think about masks, keep your asinine, uninformed, rude comments to yourself. Don't bother with the food either. Beer battered cod ($29.99) all batter and little cod. Limp fries. All served in containers with plastic utensils with ketchup packets etc tossed in. Price points for what you get certainly no bargain, especially since you eat at picnic benches with cars going by and headlights from cars in a parking lot aiming at you. Save your money and give it to a restaurant with better food, ambiance and no loud mouthed owner.

Jessica W.

Yelp
The food was decent but the service was terrible. Food was ready quickly but the woman who took our order at the order window was nasty and rude. She didn't answer my questions about some of the items on the menu and apologized to the people behind us on the ordering line. I will not be going there again.

C F.

Yelp
Nice service. Food not really fresh. Not sure about the pricier dinners. Should have checked reviews.

Luke F.

Yelp
We ended up here because every other place was packed. What stood out to me first was the absurd prices of the food. Every entree was over 35 dollars and is served in a plastic container. You are given plastic cups the size of a my pinker when you ask for water and there is no service from any waiters. I understand that this their concept but to charge the same if not more for food than other places on the island with waited service is borderline robbery. Very upset a place like this can exist on the island. Please avoid and go to Wawa if you can't find a place to eat. Hope I can help.

Shandor W.

Yelp
I don't know what everybody's problem is with this place. Every time we order, the food is prepared with real urgency, and is always delicious. If you are craving Mud City, but don't want to face that crucible, go here, it'll taste better.

Dennis M.

Yelp
Excellent fish and chips! And the hush puppies are phenomenal. I'm not sure where the low reviews are coming from, this place was great.

Andrew S.

Yelp
Spent close to $120 on an entree of halibut, steamed clams in garlic, cup of chowder, and two kids' burgers and fries. Counter service only. The owner is rude and arrogant. When my wife finally got to the front and gave him the order, he literally stared at her with a blank expression and replied, "are you talking to me?" I actually went back and ordered the soup separately. The owner tried to charge me double. I pointed out the error in price and showed him the menu, since he didn't believe me otherwise, and got a pathetic "ohh...yeah" for a response. SMH Not only that...my wife saw how hard the employees were working under this buffoon, and wanted to leave them a $20 tip. He took the $20 bill, passed the tip jar on the counter, put it in the register and walked away. First time = last time. Maybe they can force him to retire. His staff was very accommodating.

Jen E.

Yelp
Wow amazing food cute atmosphere old school seafood from the east coast just the way I like it

Maury M.

Yelp
What a great experience! We had a delicious dinner and great service, they couldn't have been more helpful. The tuna bruschetta was perfect, we started with lobster Bisque, my spouse had salmon with ginger and cilantro also delicious. We had key lime pie!!!

Lexi B.

Yelp
Absolutely delicious food, great people that work there and super knowledgeable! Sitting outside on the deck is our favorite , we also love that it's BYOB and no table service ! Sometimes it's nice to just sit back , relax and enjoy your meal without feeling rushed out of a restaurant!

Paul C.

Yelp
Simply the best seafood on the island. These guys know their craft and their products. They are located just north of Beach Haven and are convenient to the entire south of the island. We have been picking up their little necks for well over a decade. They never disappoint. I understand that they will also cook anything they sell. I've never used that side of the biz, so call ahead to be sure.

Laura M.

Yelp
Beach Haven Fishery - or BHF to those in the know - is an LBI staple! Located right off the main drag in the central area of the lower half of LBI, BHF has been hustling and bustling throughout the summer with diners and take-outers for the past 2+ decades. I must take a moment to call out a specific dish. While perusing the menu shortly before calling in an order for take-out this past summer, my heart skipped a beat when I read the phrase "You have to taste this to believe it" written in the description of John's Blushing Shrimp. I had 3 questions off the bat: 1. Who's John, along with his wife Jude 2. Why are John's shrimp blushing 3. What is there to believe? The answers are as follows: 1. He's the owner 2. The shrimp are in a delicious rosy red sauce with olive oil, fresh tomatoes, basil, garlic and herbs, encrusted with bread crumb and parmesan. 3. Everything. This dish is a GAME CHANGER. It's an absolute delight - breathtakingly delicious. Another important menu item to note: the lobster bisque is among the best I've had. Walk, run or swim over to BHF next summer and blush your way to foodie fishy heaven.

Joe N.

Yelp
I ordered takeout of a flounder sandwich (12.99), fried clam platter (19.99) and order of fried calamari which was not priced on menu, but person answering phone said it was available. the bill came to $64.99, which makes no sense. the flounder sandwich was a fresh piece of fish but barely covered the roll. the clam strips we okay. the fries on both orders were soft and mushy. the Calarmari was soggy and tasted like it was laying in fried all day.... no wonder the place was empty

Gianna M.

Yelp
old guy and young girl behind the counter were nasty and rude. asking if they had certain things and they would say no meanwhile there is a huge poster behind them w the exact thing we were asking for. nonstop rolling their eyes. saying lobster tails are nothing for them because of how long they have been open for. spent well over 200 on 4 meals - which the pasta that supposed to have lobster scallops and shrimp only had 3 piece of shrimp. tables were unbelievably sticky and gross- need to take a shower after leaving this place. also could only use the men's room where there is no locks to the doors. please just keep driving and don't waste your time

Tina H.

Yelp
An amazing place to eat. The Seafood is always Fresh and Delicious! The staff as friendly and accommodating. A must experience!

Torrey C.

Yelp
Love coming here for fresh tuna to make sushi at home. Fresh seafood and great food . One star off because of how pricy it is

Ivanna S.

Yelp
We ordered takeout from Beach Haven Fishery and the process when pretty smoothly. From call to pick up was about 20 minutes and we had a large order for 6 people. The food was okay - nothing to right home about. I've had so many lobster rolls and while the mayo mixture was good and they didn't skimp on the lobster I wasn't the biggest fan of the bread. It didn't taste the freshest and for the price point I would have gotten to another restaurant for a lobster roll. Another thing that we noticed was online we saw they had sweet potato fries but upon calling they said "they didn't do that here" but why was this on the menu? If you don't have this option either don't display it on the menu or just say that you are out at the moment. I don't think I would come back but the food wasn't horrible. If you are hungry and looking for a decent spot this can definitely fill your needs.

Michelle B.

Yelp
Really disappointed with our takeout order tonight. Seafood quality was good but very small portions for the high price. We got a swordfish and lobster dinner combo for $33 and the piece of lobster was smaller than a shrimp. Shrimp and scallop dinner combo had 3 shrimp and 3 scallops for $29. Way overpriced. Won't be back.

Carlyssa S.

Yelp
The miserable old man at the front counter was incredibly rude for no reason. Don't work in customer service if you hate people so much. The food that didn't come out messed up was subpar. There are plenty of nicer places to get good seafood nearby. Would not recommend.

Lori C.

Yelp
Food is delicious and the service is cafeteria style. I will be back again and again. Your best bet is the combo meals. The atmosphere is very beachy. If you don't want to dine in. There is an area outside too.

Mlb B.

Yelp
I have been coming to Long Beach island for 20 years. We used to frequent pinky's bc it's closer to my house but discovered beach haven fishery about five years ago and it has been our go to. Their food is delicious. The tuna is amazing. The fish is fresh and whether you eat in or take out the service is terrific by the young kids up front. Tonight - a total different experience. We ordered in and for the second time this season they messed up our order. We ordered last week and they gave us the wrong items and we didn't complain but tonight we ordered three salmon sandwiches in addition other items. One was blackened and it was correct. My husband started eating before I did and he noticed his was more rare than he would have liked. I opened mine and said it was tuna not salmon. He freaked bc he had taken a few bites. We called. They said come back. He went to the restaurant. They asked him to go home and get the wrong fish so they could see it. The owner actually said we were trying to pull a fast one on him and he refused to correct the order. What a meanie. I'll dispute the charge and urge you all to avoid this place. Do not get food here. There are so many places that are just as good and want you to be happy. Eat at jersey girl. Eat at blue water. Do not eat at beach haven fishery.

Andrea S.

Yelp
The prices online are totally different, $10 a meal difference, then their menu when you get there. They charged me $75 for a shrimp scamp and tuna bruschetta. Neither meal was good, shrimp and pasta were undercooked and they literally threw a piece of tuna w tomatoes I top in my container. Terrible! Last time I eat here!

Yvie M.

Yelp
Food leaves much to be desired for even half the price , they are located conveniently however rude , all self serve , small portions and almost no taste ! Beware

Joseph A.

Yelp
$$$$ , if you don't mind eating out of a styrofoam container and plastic forks but paying high end restaurant prices

Katie L.

Yelp
Way overpriced for what it is. We got soft shell crab, clams, and fish and chips. Nothing seemed fresh and the menu proclaimed the use of an "unsaturated butter substitute" that was....not pleasant. I'm not really sure why that's highlighted as a selling point on the menu. To top it off, the older man behind the register was very rude. He yelled at us when we didn't decide what to order quickly enough and then gave my husband and I grief for wearing masks, which we do because of my own health condition. We wouldn't waste our money here again.

Brian B.

Yelp
I'm not sure if this place had a management change, but our dinner was not the BHF we remember from the many years we have been coming to LBI. Crab cakes had way more filler and now only available fried. Tuna came came well done instead of medium rare. Clam strips were tough. Very disappointed.

robert r.

Yelp
Really good food and good service. The Thai calamari was perfectly cooked & loved the seasoning. We had the sesame seared tuna rare and was delicious! I would definitely recommend them!

Marcella A.

Yelp
I don't know what's all the fuss about and why all low stars for this place . I came here on Sunday with my hubby and the line was out the door ,plus the parking lot was packed and the outdoor seating was nearly all taken . Inside it's very cozy , A.C and you can B.Y.O.B . The owner was very nice including all the employees. It's expensive but you are getting real seafood vs it being frozen and packed up . I would definitely come back here again. For dinner I had oysters which was delicious, then a grilled salmon sandwich it was really tasty, the fries and the coleslaw was out of this world , my hubby had the swordfish sandwich and it was very tasty as well. Stop in and take a look at the menu it was worth the while and delicious food.

Stacey W.

Yelp
I've been coming to this restaurant for 22 years since I was a teenager. This is one of the best kept secret places in Beach Haven. Brought my two year old this time for her first adventure and she devoured the clam chowder and key lime pie. This is place very clean and always has been, to see it rebound back to its glory after hurricane Sandy is amazing to see. Everything on the menu is fantastic and if you love supporting places that support America, Military, and Police, this is your local jam!

Danno M.

Yelp
Deep fried Red Snapper...big enough for 2. Wow Sooo good . This place gives you the best of both worlds in that i is a fancy "takeout" restaurant. You can do the picnic tables outside, but I prefer to bring a bottle of wine, nice glasses, fancy paper plates and enjoy my food in the inside dining room. Not as expensive as some of the eat in restaurants and not as basic as some other take out joints. I've tried a number of different dishes but come back every year for the snapper. Enjoy!

Shsail S.

Yelp
Staff is fantastic and key lime pie was delicious. REALLY want to give higher rating! But previous reviews mentioned microwave cooking and I can see what they mean. Fried combos were overly fried and stuffed flounder wasn't seasoned. Lobster ravioli was ok.

Anthony W.

Yelp
Just ordered $400 dollars worth of food and as I went to pay for it my chip on the credit card had an error. All other stores know to insert chip 3 times then swipe and it's paid. This owner, an old man refused to listen and then began to say that I had no money and to pay cash or another card. I'm a professional with 30 years experience in IT and never been treated this way. He then started to spew racist comments that I had no money and no credit and my kind had no money. As I tried to calm him down he just became more arrogant and his employees who knew he was wrong tried to take him away but he kept coming back spewing racist comments. I explained to him that this was not how an owner should treat customers and he didn't care and just kept telling us that we had no money and then took the food away. Now, I have traveled the world and never been thru this and I will never stand for this type of treatment from a business. Don't buy from this establishment since this owner does not know how to treat customers.

William F.

Yelp
Let me start by saying I don't write reviews unless I'm either very impressed with something or very disappointed. This is my first Yelp review and unfortunately it's because I'm very disappointed in this restaurant. Like others have said, the owner is a MISERABLE, TERRIBLE human being. I could use all sorts of descriptive words for him but I'm sure he'd just feed on it AND bristle with pride. No matter how good the food is, and it's not anything to write home about, it is NOT worth supporting this man. It's a very odd setup of a restaurant where you wait in a long line to order food and then come back and pick it up in paper bags and seat yourself at a random picnic like tables. Despite the lackluster setting they charge you like you're at a proper sit down restaurant. While you wait in line, you're treated to the owner randomly making comments about women, randomly making jokes at peoples expenses... just being a general terrible waste of humanity. Spend your money somewhere else. There are TONS of great restaurants in Beachhaven. Go somewhere else and enjoy yourself.

Neil K.

Yelp
The fries were soggy. The owners is a complete a hole. They claim to have the best pasta on the island. They never put the pasta in the box . When I went back to get the pasta they forgot. He said bring back the fries that I ate. He claimed I was stealing the fries. Then he blew up at me when I said that this has happened several times before. Do they even really make fries. He absolutely blew a gasket. I am concerned that the owner is one order away from going postal! Eat here at your own risk.

Gabby Z.

Yelp
I've been coming to lbi for years and finally decided to get take out from this place. Well, I should have still waited. Food and prices horrible and food tasted like it was frozen. The only think decent were the mussels in red sauce but they didn't even provide bread for dipping. The fried clams were chewy and tasted microwaved. Then, the tuna seaweed was tasteless and again tasted frozen. Such a waste of money. Can't believe this place is still open after all these years. Will never be back.. save your $$ everyone!!

Artie D.

Yelp
Been coming to this place for over 20 years. Usually get one big order & one smaller one to go, for the week we stay. Full disclosure, I don't eat any seafood. I just usually get an order of hush puppies when the family has their big seafood night. This year, as always, I went to pick up a sizable order. When I got back home with it, there was a lobster missing from the order. Called them right away and explained. They apologized & said please come back & we'll have it ready. When I got there, the owner apologized again & said we gave you an extra lobster for the inconvenience. I thanked him & brought it home. They also threw in an extra order of fries. The family raves about the food, as always. These guys are a class act, and may be one of the last of a breed of businesses where the customer is right. They go over and above. I highly recommend this establishment. Make sure you order extra hush puppies too

Rachel S.

Yelp
We have passed BHF many times but this time decided to stop in during a weekday. By far the best fried scallop tacos that I've had on the Island, we also had the tuna spring roll app that was like nothing we've ever experienced, so many flavors in one roll and the wasabi dressing just made it that much better. Lots of items and daily/weekly specials. Looking forward to returning and trying the red snapper once they get it in, one of my favorite fish.

Alexander P.

Yelp
The Peter Luger of south Jersey, you steak lovers will get that. Jude and John are the best followed by Pat and Mikey in the kitchen. I came here many years ago and loved the food so much I got to know all the key players. Watch out for John if you are thin skinned he is a real character and a true patriot. John is the founder from back in 1989 and is a stickler for quality, quality, quality! Jude is the head chef and John's son and is big on all the details that makes this place shine!! Bottom line, come hungry with an eye & taste for quality and expect a little ribbing as a sign of affection. Enjoy Just got take out and never disappointed ! Th best, freshest seafood place I have ever been too. What a great family restaurant to visit. The staff really cares about the food and the service. On a different note this family run business respects our country, first responders and the respectful citizens in our beloved country. Way to go Beach Haven Fishery !!!

Laura S.

Yelp
I recently ordered takeout from Beach Haven Fisheries and was shocked to be charged $125 for Alaskan King Crab legs. The item was not listed on the menu and I was not informed of the cost when I placed my order. Of course, I would not have ordered them if I knew. The food was just okay but found Mud City Crab House to have better food, better service and they charge half the price for their Alaskan King Crab legs.

Don C.

Yelp
I wouldn't recommend this place. For one, they had no lobster - because the lobster guy never showed up. The littleneck clams were smaller than dimes - for $14.99 we got around a dozen tiny tiny clams. The shrimp dish was ok but 5 shrimp for $25.99 was a ripoff. The NE clam chowder was ok. Overall not a good value here. Try Pinky's

Marta T.

Yelp
We arrived on the island after a 5 hour ride, offloaded our gear, and immediately set out to Beach Haven (a half hour ride away from Barnegat Light where our rental house is) to pick up our rental bikes. On the way back, we saw the sign for Beach Haven Fishery and decided to stop because there were only 2 cars in the lot. I ordered fish and chips, chicken tenders, shrimp scampi, and steamed clams. The older man took our order and 2 young men checked it. We ate a bunch of excellent fries in the half hour ride back to our house, where we discovered some kind of fish in red sauce instead of fish and chips. I called the restaurant asking them to refund us, and the owner said I would have to bring the food back if I wanted a refund. Are you for real?!?!?! You screwed up my order, and now you expect me to spend another hour in the car to bring it back to you??? This isn't a product you can put back in inventory and sell to someone else. Do you really not care about your customers or your reputation? Oh, and last thing, the food was incredibly overpriced, and the clams were disgustingly sandy.

Gi P.

Yelp
We have been eating at BHF for years and it has always been good. However, it's definitely not the same now! Seems to be managed by a bunch of young, rude, inexperienced people. Our food was awful! We ordered the Halibut with pineapple chutney. It looked awful and tasted even worse. It looked like it had a pile of thick, poop on top. The fish, when you finally dug through the poop, was very dry and tasteless! We complained to the so-called manager and she could care less! We were actually feeling ill after eating at BHF. It's a shame because it used to be an excellent place to dine! I suggest you pass on this restaurant!

Kyle K.

Yelp
I stopped by today for lunch and decided to try Beach Haven Fishery's crab cake sandwich. There are plenty of seats both in the sun and shade depending on your preference and they are all a great distance apart. The sandwich was amazing made with local crab meat. The sandwich was seasoned and balanced perfectly. With the sandwich, they also provide crispy cut fries, homemade coleslaw as well as a lemon wedge and tarter/cocktail sauce. Beach Haven Fishery never disappoints and they also have a seafood market next door featuring locally sourced products. Definitely a must try if you are visiting Long Beach Island!!

Lynn R.

Yelp
delicious fresh seafood! quick, friendly service. keylime pie to die for!! Flounder dishes fried & baked SO GOOD! So many exquisite options to choose from! My family have tried most & Never disappointed! have to mention the "freedom fries" there must be a secret! so tasty & crunchy!
