Beach Hotel, Bar & Restaurant Downings

This is a beautiful family run Hotel which is currently undergoing some refurbishments. is very well located being just a 5 minute stroll down to an amazing beach. The room was very welcoming with the smell of a freshly laid carpet as the door opened onto its thick pile. The room was very spacious and decorated with a modern scheme which looked really good. The view from the window was breathtaking overlooking Sheephaven Bay. Everything was spotlessly clean. The bathroom had a large ultra modern, dual head walk-in shower, (over 2 m long), with great water pressure. The breakfast is really good offering both local and continental cuisine. Lunch is available from 01:00 pm. The restaurant gets very busy in the evening so it would be advisable to book a table to avoid disappointment. While there are some options available for vegetarians and vegans, they are somewhat limited. The staff are all very friendly and accommodating.

We went for a small light lunch. Toasties, wraps etc. Was beautiful. Very tasty food. Ample parking around the back of the hotel. Quick service. And very very reasnoble prices. Highly recommended. Muscles on the menu were also top class. Nicest lunch we have had in a long time.

Excellent stay. We were made fell very welcome by Victoria. Newly renovated rooms . Comfortable beds. Really nice walk in shower . Breakfast was excellent the next day and we were accommodated even though we were a bit late getting down for it which was greatly appreciated. Would definitely return again beach hotel a great base to explore the delights of downings and surrounding areas .

We ate as a family here recently. ||Quick service, hot and tasty food.||However, There was no friendly welcome. The chap who brought our drinks said nothing and didn’t even make eye contact, same with the table water. No one came to check if our food was ok or if we needed more drinks despite many members of staff standing around chatting. ||The place lacked atmosphere so with the nonchalant service I’ll be trying somewhere else when I’m back in the area.

Hadn’t stayed here in ten years we were delighted to get one of the newly revamped rooms on floor two |Room was fab, bed comfy, food delicious staff fabulous|Bar not very inviting tired and dreary but I’m sure it’s on the agenda for revamping too . Will definitely stay again and recommend it ||Needs a do not disturb sign for displaying on door

Lovely hotel and staff very friendly and very helpful. Very clean and spacious room.|Food was 10 outta 10 and nothing was ever and issue.breakfast the following day was also 10 outta 10.cant wait to book again or even call down for the Sunday dinner 👌

Wonderful owners and staff, were in the restaurant and ordered a fish dish and dessert and everything was delicious! The view from the room on the ocean is amazing! Thank you!
