"Boasting some of the best views in Kauai, this dreamy eatery serves up spectacular sunsets alongside splurgeworthy lunches and dinners. Start with the signature Monkeypod Mai Tai: A potent blend of Old Lahaina rums and orange curaçao, graced by honey foam. Then try the Thai-inspired coconut crab cakes, followed by the oven-roasted Jidori chicken with goat-cheese polenta or the wasabi-crusted fish with passion-fruit beurre blanc .Vegetarians won't go hungry either, thanks to dishes like coconut corn chowder sweetened with local lemongrass and slow-roasted beets with tomato-cilantro salad and tempura asparagus. Often voted the island's top restaurant by Honolulu Magazine, Beach House has also won a steady streak of awards from Wine Spectator."

"For our last night, we went to an actually nice dinner at Beach House Restaurant. You need reservations. We shared the pork potstickers. My husband got the seafood linguini and I got filet mignon."

Set your reservations early and get ready to have the most serene experience! Also, you need to ask for Rose to be your server. She was absolutely delightful and appropriately attentive as she made our visit feel very special for the last evening of our 35th wedding anniversary trip. Beach House is located near the coast with a beautifully manicured lawn. We watched surfers enjoying the evening wave action as we enjoyed our meal. It was a treat to experience the flavorful venison harvested from Maui. This dish is a must-try! We really enjoyed the unique salad offerings as well. All of the food was super fresh and packed with flavor. Thank you to the entire Beach House staff. You all get 5 stars for bringing the entire experience together!

It's been a decade since we last dined at The Beach House, and tonight's return was long overdue. The restaurant has gone through an understated and elegant "style refresh" inside and out, and is as inviting as ever. From the valets and hostesses to the wait staff, we had an amazing experience -- all professional, attentive, and friendly. The updated menu is straightforward, yet filled with complexity. Beach House's take on macadamia encrusted mahi definitely takes the popular dish to a higher level, and is truly spectacular. Both the sea scallops and seared ahi tuna also seriously impressed in presentation and complexity. Simply gorgeous to the eyes and palette. An amazing evening and near perfect dining experience.

The Beach house was a very good atmosphere but with a wedding happening at the same time as our dinner reservation, it was a bit loud and service seemed a little rushed. Not upset by any means, the food was delicious and the service was very nice. However for the price point and being in and out in less than an hour, we went with 4 stars instead of 5 because it felt more like a quick turn around then enjoy your dinner experience.

We went to the Beach House to celebrate our Honeymoon this past Thursday. We had Richie as our server, and he was absolutely amazing. He gave excellent recommendations and ensured that our visit was enjoyable. The view was gorgeous and you could walk onto the sand after eating. We ordered the coconut shrimp (half eaten in the picture, oops) and crab cakes as starters. We had the filet and diver scallops for our mains (both recommended by Richie). Everything was absolutely phenomenal.

Gorgeous Sunset, Amazing Food – A Must-Visit! Our dinner at The Beach House Restaurant was an unforgettable experience. We enjoyed a beautiful sunset right from our table, watching the sky turn stunning shades of orange and pink while listening to the waves—it doesn’t get much better than that! The food was just as spectacular as the view. We had the pasta dish, which was rich, flavorful, and perfectly cooked, and the fish special, which was incredibly fresh and delicious. Every bite was a reminder of why The Beach House is one of Kauai’s top dining spots. The service was warm and attentive, and the atmosphere was just perfect—elegant yet relaxed, with an unbeatable oceanfront setting. If you’re looking for a memorable dinner in Kauai, this is the place to be. Highly recommend making a reservation for sunset—it’s an experience you won’t forget!

My wife said her steak was the best she has ever had. The location is obviously amazing. My fish was very tasty too. The coconut shrimp appetizer was hardly coconut and a bit over priced. It all might be a bit overpriced but they can get away with it because of the location

One of our most favorite dining experiences on the island. Exactly what we expected for an elevated experience for a special occasion. Every dish was very good, service was professional, and an excellent beach front atmosphere! Prices were expensive as such and as you would expect. There is valet parking but we parked in public lot across the street. We happened to be there during a wedding celebration they were hosting by the water in a tent that had live local entertainment...that was incredible! Everyone looked happy and the restaurant was full so that is impressive!

The food was excellent however my server didn't really engage and seem to care at all. He seemed to be in a bad mood and we had to flag him down to ask if we could order. Thankfully Kelly the cocktail waitress was super nice and she saved the day because she was engaging and kind. The food was excellent. However the ambience was only so-so considering we were the farthest away from the ocean you could possibly be. I made my reservation weeks in advance and there were many openings at the time so I thought I would get a better table than I did. Overall it was lackluster considering the service was poor and the table wasn't very good either. They were also two tables together so my legs were always bumping into the leg of the table. It's weird to feel like you are a fine dining restaurant and you have no leg room that is so awkward. I will probably choose another restaurant when I am back next time.

Yelp
Grabbed dinner at sunset at the countertop with a gorgeous view of the ocean. Our server Richie was fantastic and provided great service. Ulu ravioli and the filet were delicious!

Yelp
Our second trip to this restaurant with the span of two years and it did not disappoint again. I made reservations on OpenTable over two weeks in advance again for our 5:30 Sunday dinner, knowing this was a busy spot and I was only able to get a countertop bar seat. Since it was our anniversary, I had called to see if there might be anything else available. Upon arrival, we were able to get a booth for two that had beautiful views where we could see the sunset, but I have to say the countertop bar would've been fine, also view wise, we just preferred the table. Their menu seems to have condensed from what I remember, but perhaps this allows them to focus on the quality which was definitely equally as good if not better than our first visit. There was only one fresh fish choice which was a mahi type fish macadamia nut crusted, and they also added this fish to the fresh pasta special of the day which my husband had. The fish was fresh and a good portion as we remembered, and we had a Caesar salad to complement. We also were greeted by our server, Molly with complimentary champagne glasses to toast our occasion. We were too full to try the desserts, although the desserts all looked wonderful. If you're looking for a waterfront open air restaurant, this is one of the best in Kauai that we found, and the sunset views never disappoint! Our server was excellent and checked on us several times and was very accommodating. Parking has always been a challenge for us and we later found out that parking is allowed in one of the nearby condo or hotel areas. Be sure to ask ahead about this as it could save you some steps!

Yelp
Made a reservation for 5pm Saturday though Open Table, as there were no 530, 6pm, nor 630pm reservations for weeks ahead. The complimentary dinner rolls were a step down from previous years, with three pieces of rectangular bread, without the flavor of previous dinner rolls The $18 smashed cucumber salad came with a ton of chopped mangos drenched in a pool of sesame sauce. Should have ordered the salad with sauce on the side, as the mangos alone would have given the salad plenty of flavor. Wife loved her $53 ahi tuna, expertly cooked seared on the outside and raw on the inside. My $53 macadamia crusted mahi mahi was on the small side at about 4 ounces, without much flavor until you mixed in the lemon celery caper relish. Serving size of both fish was on the small side compared to portions at Coconuts Fish Cafe or Paia Fish Market in Kihei on Maui, and at almost double the price of the Maui restaurants. 4% kitchen service fee added to bring final bill to $135.04 after tax but before tip. And we didn't order drinks nor dessert. Turned out that sunset was not until 620pm, hence all the openings at 5pm, but packed at 6pm.

Yelp
Our Thanksgiving dinner at The Beach House in Poipu was nothing short of magical! This was our second visit--the first was in 2022 when we had an incredible meal--so our expectations were high, and we were not disappointed. From the moment we arrived, the stunning oceanfront location set the perfect stage for our special holiday evening. Our booth, right by the open-air windows, offered a breathtaking sunset view. As the sun dipped below the horizon, a mesmerizing flock of parrots gathered in the surrounding palm trees, adding a touch of island magic to our holiday celebration. Our server, Makayla, made the evening even more memorable with her warm, attentive, and knowledgeable service. She ensured every detail was perfect, from the delightful Mai Tai cocktails and local beers to the refreshing fresh POG juice. The Thanksgiving dinner menu was phenomenal. We savored the tender filet mignon, rich fish and lobster pasta, vibrant vegan veggies and noodles, perfectly seared ahi, and the standout macadamia-crusted mahi-mahi. Each dish was expertly prepared and full of flavor, surpassing even the high expectations we had from our first visit. The Beach House has become a special place for us, and it was the perfect setting for our Thanksgiving away from home. We can't wait to return for our next celebration!

Yelp
We went on New Year's Eve and the food was all so delicious! We got the deviled eggs, focaccia, special, lobster, pasta, scallops, and chocolate flan special. Everything tasted outstanding! Even my kid loved his kids meal. Ambience cannot be beat. Definitely make a reservation and even with a reservation you might have to still wait a little bit. I suggest going a little early and hanging out on the beautiful grounds.

Yelp
The Beach House offers a pleasant, upscale dining experience with indoor seating that provides ocean views and an outdoor space for enjoying drinks and relaxation. While the service was attentive and the complimentary bread and olive oil were a nice touch, there were a few areas where the food could have been better. Unfortunately, due to the late hour of our dinner, we were unable to fully appreciate the ocean views. I recommend visiting during lunch or dinner to make the most of the scenic setting. The Kauai coffee tiramisu was a bit dense and lacked the expected ladyfingers, but it was still a decent dessert. The complimentary bread and olive oil, along with the option to add balsamic vinegar, was a thoughtful addition. The pork potstickers were a bit greasy, and the pork was slightly dry. However, the habanero and pineapple marmalade added a nice kick of flavor. The filet mignon was cooked to perfection, but the mashed potatoes were a bit grainy and lacked the smooth texture I was expecting (still decent). The blue cheese and bacon butter was underwhelming, tasting more like regular unsalted butter. Overall, The Beach House is a good dining option in Kauai, offering a pleasant atmosphere and attentive service. While the food was generally good, there were a few areas where it could have been improved. If you're looking for a reliable spot with ocean views, The Beach House is worth considering.

Yelp
Ambiance is great, beautiful views, food is very very average. Opted for the catch of the day mahi mahi crusted with macadamia nuts. 3 other people at the table and myself had it and all said it was very mediocre. Appetizers were good. Drinks were good.

Yelp
We eat here a few times a year, and here are the highlights: Out of 10: The view at sunset? A solid 9.999999999. Seriously, it's breathtaking. The staff? They somehow managed to score an 11. Phenomenal service! Now, something is broken with the food. I wish they had a new menu. I'd give it a solid 8.8 out of 10. Not bad, just a bit below the spectacular view and staff. Gentlemen, if you're a stubborn dude, here's a tip: Take your chances, get there at 5:15 PM, grab a seat on the lawn and enjoy the sunset. Or, you can plan ahead. MEN, listen up, because I mean like a few months ahead! Make a reservation. Your wife will love it. Trust me on this one. Bonus points? Call "Blue Orchid" (search it on Google). Place an order 48 hours in advance and have flowers delivered to your rental. They'll last at least two weeks and look stunning. Enjoy afternoon delight and a sky full of fireworks. Then, take your wife to The Beach House. Ladies, we men... planning ahead is not in our genetic code. We're one step ahead of cavemen. So, drop a hint about making reservations at The Beach House!!!

Yelp
Schmitty the bartender is the best! He took great care of us. All was delicious- from the Lobster Bisque to the fab mai tai -we loved it all. Not sure why the 3.5 yelp rating because we enjoyed it. Maybe those are dated reviews. And the view cannot be beat.

Yelp
Visited the Beach House on July 4th. The restaurant is located in a prime beach location and the views are incredible. Kids and adults will enjoy a nice meal here. It's very clean and modern. There is a full bar Wichert is well stocked. My son loves his Lobster Pasta. My entree was not really my favorite and the manager comped my meal. He did not have to, but he did, and it shows how much they value their customers.

Yelp
We decided to give this a try in spite of the experience we had at their sister restaurant chain, Monkey Pod. I must say, their sister restaurant, even though it did not wow, was leaps and bounds better than this one. We ordered two items we had at MP at this location, the poke tacos and the lobster deviled eggs. These two items at MP were the highlights of the meal, here they were just downright embarrassing. The eggs looked sloppy and the panting here on everything is anything but appetizing. My wife ordered a broccoli salad which was supposed to be an entree size, but looked more like two scoops. If you think you know what broccoli salad is, this is not it. Overcooked broccoli with a less than tasty sauce on the bottom. Our son and I ordered the scallops. Again, playing was abysmal. Just not an appetizing view. The scallops were cooked properly, but a little gritty. My Son described the mashed potatoes as "pasty", that's fair. The sprig of broccoli was a bit over steamed and the "tomato salad" was eaten only because I like tomatoes. In service, no complaints, John was attentive and took care of us. This just simply is tourist dining and not done well at that low standard.

Yelp
Had an incredible meal and service (thank you Brandon!) at The Beach House. We had the perfect seats on the grass to watch the sunset. The only downside was the crowds of people forming in front of our dinner table to watch the sunset... not the restaurants fault. We started with the ulu ravioli and had the Mac crusted mahi and lobster pasta for dinner. Finished with the coconut creme brûlée which was delicious! This was probably our favorite meal on the island!

Yelp
Back on the island and decided to give this restaurant another shot and it was amazing. Things must have been changing. The food was phenomenal. The seafood pasta, ahi tacos; happy hour drinks and we have to get a table to end the night. We sat right outside and our waiter/server was amazing. I believe his name was Dave. It was a great experience this time around.

Yelp
We came to celebrate our 20th anniversary. I must say, it is the perfect location to do so. We went to several restaurants during our vacation on Kauai and you can't beat the views, the vibe and the service. This was our last dinner on the island and we left on a memorable note here. I'm glad we had reservations because it was so packed. We had them for 7:30pm, right on time for the beautiful sun to set. We were sat promptly at our table that looked out of the panoramic open windows. We were welcomed by our friendly server and offered drinks. She recommended the Fire Dance. It was ok as I am still trying to acquire the taste of mezcal. She surprised us with 2 champagne glasses to toast. She invited us enjoy our drinks while we waited for our food. We went outside to enjoy the sunset and our drinks. It was so beautiful. So romantic. We went back in and had some appetizers. They had run out the poke nachos so those must be popular, that we opted for the Szechuan Stir-Fry Green Beans with Mac Nuts. It was too salty for us to enjoy. We also had the pork potstickers. Those were good. We couldn't get enough of the views. I would definitely come back and I highly recommend it for a romantic night with a gorgeous backdrop.

Yelp
I cannot say enough about how fabulous this restaurant is...full of ambiance (right next to the gently rushing waves), the upscale decor, the service which was totally awesome, and finally...the meal was exquisite! My wife and I shared the fresh fish of the day...WOW. So tender and tasty. Be sure to check out the photo and the video!!

Yelp
Amazing ambiance, right on the water with beautiful views what more can you ask for? The food was incredible. I got the sea scallops and was not disappointed at all. Drinks were really good as well. As far as service goes, second to none. We were WELL taken care of. Highly recommend this high end restaurant.

Yelp
Had Thanksgiving dinner here and it was exactly what the family needed. Everyone got what they wanted: traditional Thanksgiving turkey with island inspired sides, and the rest of us had local catches of the day. May have found our go to Thanksgiving restaurant! Super busy but great attentive service and quickly sat very shortly after our reservation, no big deal with such a great view!

Yelp
We went for a drink to watch the sunset! Great location, quick service at the bar and amazing views. Can't share a review on the food but this is an ideal spot for the sunset.

Yelp
Beach House was excellent! Was initially hesitant because of the 3.5 stars but the food was absolutely delish! The lobster pasta is a must! Got a 5:45pm reservation for my birthday dinner and we were able to catch the sunset for photos! Our server Kaila was excellent and service was amazing. Thank you Beach House!

Cheryl W.

Yelp
Let's start with the food and the presentation. Don't be fooled because it's owned by Merrimans. The server was ok but the busters. Couldn't clear are plates any faster while half the party was still eating. Not to mention they are still cooking and using Canola oil, known to be unhealthy oil. The view was lovely if you can get a view table. Well that's my review. Our Mai stairs were good.
google avatar

Isabella G.

Yelp
The scenery from the inside of the restaurant is beautiful and it's right on the shore so you see the ocean. We were seated quickly and our servers were always checking on us. We had a large party and they accommodated us with no issues. The food was delicious as I tried both a breaded fish and the seared ahi. The drinks were okay, I order a mango lemonade which was basically just plain lemonade no mango taste at all. I had the coconut creme brûlée and the tiramisu which were both amazing.

Yelp
Such a great sunset spot!! Came here for my dad's birthday dinner and we got there early and grabbed drinks at the bar prior to our dinner reservation. Sunset here is amazing so try to pick a clear day if you can. For apps we tried the green beans and the lobster deviled eggs. The green beans were delicious with the added texture of the macadamia nuts. The deviled eggs were tasty but nothing special and I would not order again. For my main I got the ahi steak which was well portioned and cooked to perfection. The sides paired well but I felt the sauce needed improvement. My dad enjoyed his lobster and fish pasta and it looked like a hearty pasta dish. We got the chocolate tarte for dessert. Service and ambiance were great but the food for me left a little more to be desired. There is valet parking for $5 and all staff were well attentive. I would definitely come back again next time I'm in Hawaii. Make reservations in advance!

Yelp
You can count me among those who were bowled over to see The Beach House get an average yelp review of only 3.7 stars. Even if someone were to subtract stars for the priciness of the venue I'd think they'd add them back for the view at sunset, which is definitely the time you should plan to be here. With its oceanfront location on Kauai's southern tip, The Beach House might be the best place from which to watch the sun go down and the number of people on The Beach House lawn at that time is a testament to this fact. Arriving at sunset and without reservations, I began with a cocktail at the bar, springing for the special ($20) which funneled 100% of sales to those affected by the Lahaina fire. Before I was halfway through my table was ready, an outdoor seat on that lawn which, despite the damp couch cushions, slanted terrain, and difficulty of dining at something that's essentially a coffee table, seemed like nothing but the absolute best place here to dine. I was surrounded by moist green grass with the sea in front of me and can't imagine a more authentic Hawaii dining experience. The menu was priced accordingly and I threw caution to the wind: I'm in Hawaii, in a gorgeous spot, nothing will be cheap, let's hope it'll be good. The Seared Ahi Steak ($49) came with the highest recommendations from the server and though I wasn't excited by the menu description this proved to be a flat-out delicious plate of food. Ditto for the well-spiced Roasted Kauai Vegetables & Rice Noodles ($33). The portion sizes and quality of the offerings made the prices seem not as high as they initially appeared as these two dinner items represented the entirety of a wholly satisfying dinner for two. Don't let the 3.7 overall rating sway you. The Bech House at sunset is a solid 5-star experience with food equal to and worthy of the unmatched views.

Yelp
I've been coming to The Beach House since the late 1990's. The restaurant's location is literally right on the ocean and has spectacular sunset views, weather permitting. My last visit was February 2024. Made reservations early so that we could experience the sunset. Started with cocktails, MPK Mai Tai $19 and Expresso Martini $19. My Mai tai was a little too sweet for my taste and could have used a little more rum. The food order was Lobster Bisque $23, Sea Asparagus Salad $18 and Seared Sea Scallops $60. The lobster bisque was rich, delicious and should be canned by Campbell's Soup. The scallops were perfectly seared and the sauce was rich and paired well with the scallops. I rarely eat scallops, but these were delicious. Service was awesome. I always seem to find parking out on Lawai Road, but you can valet park in the event you can't find parking nearby. A beautiful restaurant on a beautiful island.

Yelp
Food was ok. Service was slow. Just to get waiter took about 10mins. To get bread too about 20mins. Ambiance was extremely loud which is not for folks like me who want to relax. It was so loud I couldn't wait to get out of there. Food portions were very small & prices were very high, you would think fish is from this ocean so it should be cheaper because there is no import tax/shipping. Go to a cheaper place & have dinner then come take photos at this place backyard. I spent $400 on dinner My personal opinion is Wow!!! Beautiful backyard.

Yelp
When I'm home visiting friends and the family. I like to come here to hangout with friends and watch the beautiful sunset. There's always some type of drink from there abundance of selections from whisky, tequila, etc.
google avatar

Allison S.

Yelp
The sunset cannot be beat. It is one of the best views on the island for dinner. The food/drinks are ridiculously overpriced and sub par. I wish we would have chosen a better dinner spot, but came here just for the sunset view with a few drinks and sat nearby. We only got a couple drinks each and an entree and was well into $300. It is a kitschy touristy restaurant, but definitely would not come unless you had a sunset reservation. Our server was great and we had a wonderful table, but the hype is for the ambiance/view only. If you do plan on heading here on vacation - be sure to have a sunset reservation in advance and plan on valet parking.

Yelp
I like to start the review with nice things. Server was great and tried his best which we appreciated. Went to dinner to wrap up the end of our girls trip as we wanted a nice dinner. Food was OK, however they seated us outside right next to a wedding. Which it was sweet at first hearing all the speeches and feeling like part of it. But when the 2000s Black Eyed Peas "I got a feeling" and Lady Gaga's "Telephone" started playing we knew we had to hurry up and finish our food. The music was sooo loud as we were next to the speakers. It was a funny experience for sure but mixed with the mid food it just wasn't it. We asked the server how long the music is going to go for and they said 9pm, it still didn't stop when we left at 9:15pm. I'd just wish they would've notified us when we made the reservation or sat us inside where it was more bearable, there were plenty of tables. We got in and out in 45 mins but at least my friend really liked her ahi tuna, their lobster pasta felt lacking in flavor for me. Maybe we'd come back for a quiet brunch next time.

Martha K.

Yelp
I have never had a better waitress in my life. She took the time to explain everything with out us even asking. We went for our 10 year anniversary and she made she it was a special one. She was seriously so amazing The food was sooo good I still dream of it. The way the flavors all came together were so well thought out and just WORKED. And the sunset was beautiful!! The mai Thai was delish. We felt so welcomed and well taken care of. The level of service was very impressive

Yelp
My husband and I went here during our honeymoon. The setting was amazing! We came around 6:45 so a little bit before sunset, the views were gorgeous. Every seat in the restaurant has a view. We got complimentary champagne since it was our honeymoon. We started with the beet salad which was great! They also brought out focaccia bread with olive oil. For our mains I got the fish and lobster pasta. Not to be dramatic but this may have been one of the best pastas I have ever had. My husband ordered the seared ahi steak which was also amazing. We ended the night with the chocolate tart for dessert! If you want great food, views, and service definitely come here.

Miranda

Yelp
We spent Christmas brunch here Lobster deviled eggs, potstickers, focaccia appetizers which were all really great! The focaccia was extremely flavorful. Lobster on the deviled eggs was a bit tough, wasn't my favorite but still very good! Potstickers were crispy and delicious! Whatever spread they put on the side of those was spicy and flavorful! So good! After my boyfriend and I split the macadamia nut mahi mahi with rice and this yummy sauce topped over it. I believe there was some bok choy or something on the plate as well. Excellent meal! Drinks were good too! Service was great, wish I remembered the servers name but she did a great job and we were so grateful to have such good service on Christmas day! Also amazing views of the ocean !! Thank you beach house!

Yelp
I made a reservation for my anniversary. I was so excited to go, but as we walked in I realized I forget my ID. This is typically not a problem because I have access to my ID through the DMV of my states website and a photo of my passport not to mention I'm 26 and rarely get IDed any way. So they refused to serve me drinks. Even after we established I was well of age, the fact that they can't make an exception for an anniversary, when returning to the hotel was out of the question (because we were 30 min away at 7:30pm and they close the kitchen at 8:30pm) is just rude and unforgivable. Not mention the food looked unappetizing. As a local guide warned me of during our ATV tour, he said "the food sucks and it's way over priced, if you want a good view and good food go somewhere else."

Lyn A.

Yelp
Entree and dessert was not outstanding, but was good. Lobster Bisque was awesome/delicious! Service/server was good. Restaurant was so loud though, that we had a hard time hearing/communicating with him.

Yelp
Let me start with the 3 stars is for the food, the service and our server were 8 stars out of 5!!! More on that later. The wife and the friends were on Kauai for a week and staying in a timeshare, we had access to cook and grill dinners which we really like to do. We did want to try a nice restaurant while on the island and the wife made reservations a while back whenever it opened up for a date and time we were on the island. We were staying in Poipu and The Beach House was only a 10 minute drive away. We did try to get an Uber, but we were in the off season and the front desk told us it was hard to get an Uber any time, but especially between the busy seasons. We ended up driving and it was very close, so no issues. The restaurant was bustling and the valet parking was jammed, but they cleared it quickly and took our car. Valet was very nice and friendly. Valet parking was $5, the best deal on the island for our entire stay! We arrived at 5:15pm. We stepped up to the hostess stand to announce our arrival and our reservation time of 5:30pm. We were a bit early and they said it would be a few minutes so we headed to the bar. Before we could order drinks, we got the text that our table was ready so we made a u-turn and were quickly seated by a nice hostess. Not long after we sat down what I thought was a manager came to our table greeted us cheerfully and took our drink orders. The drinks were delivered by a drink server and they came quickly which was a nice surprise since the place was packed. Nice work bartenders! The person I thought was a manager came back and introduced herself as Christie (spelling?) and she was our server for the evening. Christie was great, as were any staff we dealt with during our time there. Again, 8+ (out of 5, HA!) stars for Christie and all of the staff. Christie lead us through the appetizer choices and we selected the Lobster Deviled Eggs and the Green Beans. Again, these came out in record time. We did not feel rushed at any point, especially by Christie, but things moved quickly around there. Drinks, food, etc... The Lobster Deviled Eggs we a rousing "OK". I like deviled eggs and the wife and I make them sometimes when we have people over. I like to make them with pickled eggs for more of a zing. These were very basic hard boiled eggs with the yokes mashed up but no particular flavor or spice. They did indeed come with some lobster meat that was also OK. I would not order this again as it was not anything special. The stir fried reen beans were in a delicious sauce. Kind of an unusual appetizer, but I would suggest it as it was one of the top things I ate at The Beach House. We ate up the entire plate. While eating our apps, Christie gave us an overview of the entree choices and the special. The entree choices are very limited, but that was OK with me as I wanted seafood and they had several yummy sounding choices available. I chose the Lobster & Fish Pasta, the wife chose the Macadamia Crusted Fresh Catch (can't remember the fish name, started with an M) and the friends both had the Seared Ahi Steak, the number one recommendation by Christie. It seemed like Christie walked into the kitchen and the servers walked out with our food. Boom, we had food in front of us. Like I said earlier, we did not feel rushed by anyone, but things moved quickly once the orders were placed. My pasta was all-in-all very good. The high points were the delicious sauce, the nicely cooked pasta and the perfectly cooked fish. The dish had mahi-mahi and the unknown catch of the day that started with an M. All that was very good and I tried to eat it all but became too full to finish all of the pasta. The low point was the 1/2 lobster on the top of the pasta. It was much smaller than I expected and unfortunately it was pretty dry. I tried to cut it up to mix in with the great sauce and pasta, but the damn thing was impossible to cut through. I ended up shredding it a bit so I didn't have to put the whole tail meat section in my mouth. A bit disappointing. The wife gave her fresh catch meal an "it was OK" review. The fish was nicely cooked, but not anything special. The friends' seared ahi steak was perfectly seared, a beautiful shade of red and since they gave me a chunk to try I can confirm it was delicious. The friend does not really like broccolini and was expecting the broccoli listed in the menu. Also, they would have preferred rice instead of the wasabi mashed potatoes. The sauce Maui onion sauce was "interesting". The ahi was the highlight for their meal. For dessert we all shared an order of the coconut crème brûlée. It was another "just OK." The sunset? The Service? 8 to 10 out of 5 stars! The food? It was OK and it was expensive. Go here for the service and the sunset. Maybe a cocktail and appetizer watching the sunset. Wish the food was better. Go. Eat "Just OK". Have FUN!

Yelp
This restaurant is always really busy, easy to get reservations for late afternoon or evening but very hard to get one around 6pm when the sunset. It is located right on the beach so understandable that the sunset time is prized by many. We were conflicted due to the overall reviews score on Yelp but after looking at the menu we decided to try it for ourselves. The check in process was a bit chaotic, we showed up at the side entrance and the greeter told us to go to the main entrance to see the hostess and get seated. Once we got the main entrance we were told to go back where we came from because we had a "bar seating with ocean view" and the other hostess were supposed to seat us. Okay... wasn't fun to get passed around like that but no big deal we weren't going to let this ruin our evening. We started with their famous Mai Tai with the lilikoi foam, delicious drinks! For appetizer we got the lobsters deviled eggs, they were really tasty! Our main courses were a seared ahi steak with jalapeño mashed potatoes, and a Mac nut crusted fresh Hawaiian catch which that day was Opah. The seared ahi was perfectly cooked, quick sear on the outside and raw, melting in your mouth just like sashimi or poke in the center. The Mac nut crusted fish was great, flaky and flavorful. For dessert we got a Lemon semolina cake with housemade lilikoi whip cream, a real treat! This was one of the best meal we had on Kaua'i. We only wished we could have been at this restaurant during sunset to enjoy the beautiful views. Otherwise the meal was really delicious! We would come back if our adventures take us back to Kaua'i!

Yelp
I rate this -1 star. So disappointed!!! We'd heard such great things about Beach House. Untrue! Waitress was snobbish. Mai Tai not good. Seafood fettuccine horrible! Lobster tough and fish just trash! My friend's pasta with shrimp was inedible. Please beware! The view of the sunset was the only good thing.

Yelp
The Beach House is a lively and popular Poipu restaurant. The view and the sunsets can be spectacular. We even saw the green flash. Park in the designated area in the condo lot across the street. I wouldn't call The Beach House a tourist trap, but it feels more like it than some of the other upscale restaurants, like Merriman's, Eating House 1849, The Plantation House, or Huilani's. The cocktails are expensive. My grilled scallops entrée was over $50, but I didn't love it. The scallops were undercooked, barely marked on the grill and too raw in the middle. The ahi and mahi are safer choices. Five stars for the atmosphere, it's fun to eat here. Three for the food value. It's as expensive as the aforementioned restaurants, fourth place among them for the food.

Yelp
Came here for our anniversary. It was my first time coming here. We got there a little early so we can watch the sunset. I can see why there's so much people here for the restaurant. Luckily we got seated in a booth facing the ocean. We were offered complementary champagne for our anniversary which was very nice. There wasn't too much selection from the menu but we ordered the new ulu ravioli it was sooo delicious, then we both ordered the seafood pasta. I dont usually order pasta at restaurants since they tend to very buttery and rich but just had to! The first bite of lobster was delicious and the noodles was so good. The price point of this place is high due to the location of the resturant. I would come here again only for special occasions. The server was very attentive and nice!

Yelp
Had reservations here for the sunset of course. We ended up being way early for our reservation, but they accommodated us anyway. Service was excellent, Nick was just incredible. Fixed a slight issue with one of our orders super quick and with grace. Very attentive to keeping our drinks filled even though he had several more tables. Would definitely ask for him again. Food was excellent, poke tacos were flavorful and the ahi was super fresh. Two of our party had the filets, expertly cooked 'Pittsburgh blue' for one and rare for the other. Tender, flavorful and presentation was amazing. I had a delicious Ahi steak, enjoyed the japaleno mashed potatoes that accompanied it but could have used more heat from the jalapeños personally (I like things spicy). The final member of our party had the Lobster pasta and declared it was excellent. The Mai Tais lived up to the billing, as did the view. All in all an excellent night for our party of four.

Yelp
Really awesome date night spot! Came here a few days ago and ordered the fresh fish of the day, dessert, Caesar salad, and the poke tacos! All awesome choices, the fish was light buttery and flavorful and the poke tacos had a really nice texture to them. The dessert was incredible - we ordered the chocolate tart which was rich and decadent. The whipped cream paired the rich chocolate perfectly. The atmosphere here is great (make sure to come during sunset for spectacular views of the ocean and surfers!). Our waiter was very friendly and provided great service.

Yelp
Great location, good food, good drinks. We had a table right by the open air windows. Loved that we could wander outside while waiting for our meal to watch the surfers with our daughter. Location was absolutely stunning. Drinks - had the Mai Tai and a bartender's special drink. The lilokoi cream on the Mai Tai made it so good! Very fresh and tart. Food - we started with the lobster deviled eggs. Very fresh but not otherwise outstanding. Lobster was great but the actual deviled egg was bland. Dinner had the sea scallops and macadamia crusted fish. Both were fantastic. Dessert - tiramisu was very good. Overall - this is a can't miss spot due to the location right on the water. Food and service were wonderful.

Yelp
Yes this restaurant is expensive but you're paying for the view which is unbeatable. The service was impeccable. Every need catered to before having to ask. Great wine, cocktail, and mocktail selection. Both salads ordered were beautifully presented and the taste was even better. The macadamia crusted mahi mahi was divine. Everything we experienced here was top notch. Would absolutely come back.

Yelp
Some of the best food and views I've ever seen. Started with a wonderful "Ulu Ravioli" as an appetizer. Including chèvre, watercress, lemon beurre bland and topped with some of the best chili garlic oil ever!! The entree I decided on was "Fish & Lobster Pasta", that evening the fish was mahi-mahi. Absolutely soooo yummy and incredibly filling. The other entree we ordered was TOP OF THE LINE. "Macadamia Nut Crusted Fresh Hawaiian Fish" including a beautiful mahi mahi fish with coconut jasmine rice and ginger bok choy with an incredible citrus miso beurre blanc!! Closest taste to heaven possible. We sadly couldn't get to dessert because the entrees were too high on the totem pole! *Also keep in mind the views are unmatched* from the sunset to the waves and the surfers riding them. You are absolutely in paradise.

Yelp
Last night in Kauai and we opted to end it where we had our first dinner of the trip. Service was great, Billy never rushed us through our meal; totally got that we were just cruising. We shared two salads - the beet salad and the broccoli salad. Strongly recommend trying these. Usually a beet salad is only a few beets and lots of greens, but this one! The broccoli salad had a tasty yogurt dressing. And the filet with mashed potatoes, chard and kale. By the way, all 3 were gluten-free!!! The Mai Tai, the black old fashioned and the espresso martini do not disappoint. Best spot on the island for dining at sunset. The entire restaurant is al fresco. Not a bad table in the house - awesome views of the ocean.

Yelp
Was looking for dinner options and came across this spot. Given reviews, we didn't think they would have any availability for same day, but lucked! They were able to take us within the hour and gave us a front row table of the Ocean. We really came here for the view, but the food did not disappoint. We weren't able to finish everything (aside from dessert) and took our leftovers to go. Our server Patricia was very lovely, she kept checking in on us and stated multiple times that there's no rush. The food was simply amazing. We ordered Taro Ravioli, Lobster Seafood Pasta, and Rice Noodles. Everything from presentation to taste and flavor was to our complete satisfaction. It's a bit on the pricier side, but not when you factor in the view!

Yelp
Delicious food excellent service. Seafood pasta was good and the macadamia encrusted fish was delightful. Lobster bisque and lobster deviled eggs were very nice. We loved 1849 so much better than Beach House.
