My wife and I booked a family room at Wollongong Beach Park Motel for a one night stay with our children. Upon arriving and leaving our details ant reception and getting the key we went up to the room. When we opened the door we were overwhelmed with the smell of cigarette smoke. We went inside and opened the windows and wondered whether it would dissipate and whether we could put up with it. After 5 minutes or so in which I fixed the verandah’s sliding door which was found hanging off of its track went back to reception with headaches and all of our things and said sorry but we can’t stay here. The lady at reception told us she was the cleaner and couldn’t process our refund, however the manager would call us to make a refund. And we drove 3hours to our next stay where fortunately we could stay at such short notice. Long story short, after a number of attempts to reach the manager and the phone only ever being answered by the cleaner, they stopped answering calls from both my wife and I. Since we booked through booking.com I then began phoning them weekly. Initially they passed on the complaints but due to their third party relationship to the property they apologised saying they are powerless to arrange a full refund however will refund their commission to us, which was about $25. The Beach Park Hotel therefore owes us just under $400. Their response when contacted by booking.com asking for Beach Park Motel to refund our money was “The beds were slept in. We do not accept this.” We didn’t sleep in the beds, and I would accept a small cleaning fee to be deducted from our refund for straightening beds out if they were less presentable or something, but they won’t answer our calls or reach out to us. This has been a very disappointing waste of time and money. We are owed a considerable amount of money and this experience was a dampener on our holiday.

We called up last minute and late night and they had no problem to fit us in, very clean, comfortable beds and will recommend to anyone.

We stayed in rooms 7 and 8 close to new years, and the aircon in room 8 did not work. To her credit, the staff on shift tried to fix it which involved turning off all power in the room and us leaving the room for over an hour - unfortunately that didn't work. There was already a fan in there so we believe it was a known issue. It was a very uncomfortable night made worse by a lopsided bed and a cockroach in the other room. We were offered a partial refund on the night but after numerous follow ups, still have not received any compensation. All in all, a negative experience. The little positives of the place have just been marred by poor service recovery.

We had no hot water. Bed was rock hard. So uncomfortable. There was a dead cockroach on the floor inside the entrance. The office was unattended within office hours. I’d stay clear of this crappy old hotel in the future.

I recently stayed at this hotel, and unfortunately, my experience was far from satisfactory. While the service wasn't entirely bad, the amenities in the room were an absolute nightmare. First, the shower was leaking constantly, day and night. Even when I was lying in bed, I could hear the water dripping, which kept me awake all night. This alone made it impossible to relax during my stay. Next, the tap in the bathroom made a loud, screeching noise every time I used it, even for something as simple as brushing my teeth. It was extremely irritating and really added to the discomfort. The general condition of the room was appalling. Several sockets on the walls were hanging off, and the place was generally filthy, as if it hadn’t been cleaned at all. This is supposed to be the Superior Queen Seaview room, which was quite expensive, but it felt far from superior. The spa, which was supposed to be one of the highlights of the room, was out of order, which was a huge letdown. The view from the room was also terrible—what should have been a beautiful seaview was instead a road. Even on a sunny morning, the view was disappointing. To make matters worse, basic amenities were missing. There were no extra pillows available, no iron in the room (which I needed to use last night), and calling for assistance would have incurred a big fee. It was a huge letdown from start to finish. Overall, I would not recommend staying here. The combination of poor amenities, lack of cleanliness, and disappointing view made for a very unpleasant experience.

The place is really nice and really feels like home. It is cold their though. We had a late booking, so the staff cooperatively gave us the information we required for the booking. It was annoying that the staff weren't there in the reception when we needed something. It was early in the morning, but still. The rooms were okay, not like a royal palace though. There were random noise and nuisances at night when we slept and random bugs skittering across the floor.

Stayed here for one night. Staff were really great in checking me in early. I had a queen room on the bottom floor. Quiet, super clean, ice cold glasses in the fridge. Hot shower with great water pressure. Cannot fault the place honestly. Really big room for the price I paid. Black out curtains were fantastic. Great location.

Room 6 is an interconnecting room and lots of noise comes through the door. Room is small and cramped. Bright lights outside the window makes sleeping difficult. Carpet thread bear. Shower curtain mouldy. Staff were pleasant but not a good place to stay I'm sorry to say
