Positives: the owner was friendly & helpful as we checked in. Negatives: It's a little rundown (there is a lot of broken concrete in areas), we were told the water wasn't working in the park(should have checked the reviews beforehand, apparently an ongoing issue), the ablution block is basic but clean, the park has no lighting so bring a torch for after dark. The camp kitchen is clean but basic as well, there is no oven either, not even a basic toaster oven. Being $45 a night for a site, it's a bit expensive for what is offered compared to the rest of Tas. Needs a lot of renovation.

Had two nights booked but decided to cancel due to really bad weather. I was met with a grumpy lady who was clearly disappointed in the cancellation (because I assume everyone else was also cancelling also). She was just flat out rude, took my details & said goodbye. |I called on the Wednesday for our Friday & Saturday night, so not exactly last minute for a caravan park.|This review is not based on the site itself but deserves 2 stars to customer service.

Massive shoutout to the Wynyard Beach Retreat Tourist Park’s Cheryl & Graeme who accommodated my family after our motorhome lost power on the Bass Highway. Cheryl waited up for us after hours, helped unload our taxi, provided boxes for our gear, helped move us in for the night & gave us a late checkout until our replacement vehicle arrived this afternoon. Rooms were just what we needed neat, warm, comfortable & very clean. If your lap takes you this way make sure you book a night. I am sure the friendly face of Cheryl will be there to welcome you. Thank you for being a good human and great operator.

Terribly Expensive Nice location, friendly staff Unfortunately, no water, no BBQ, no lights. Kitchen did not have the basics necessary to cook. No bins, except for a tiny 1litre flip bin in the toilet. No paper towel, no dryer, and some dead communal soap. Unable to get to the toilet blocks in the dark, path has foliage spilling over, corner post not visible and no lighting. One key to toilets for a family

NOT TO BE MISSED! Do yourself a favour and spend time here. $40 a night for solo. They win points for a solo discount alone!! Very friendly and helpful managers/owners. Everything spotlessly clean!! And as for the effort they've put in for homeliness...I'm speechless. I've never seen anything like it in all my stays in caravan parks! I hope I see more CP adopting these ideas. Concrete sites leaving grassed area to sit on and enjoy. Feel that grass beneath your bare feet! Great pressure in the showers. Shower is to die for! Very clean! Large toilet cubicles. AND THEN THERE IS THE KITCHEN AND LOUNGE!! You have to see it! A pathway separates you from the beach. There is a BBQ area with an open log fireplace, sink x 2 and picnic table and benches. Seriously I've never seen anything remotely as good as this place. People complain that there is no water at your site but there is the opportunity to fill your tank etc at reception. That is not a valid complaint people!

One of the best locations to spend time to see and experience this end of the Coast. A quiet safe river and seaside location off the main highway with beautiful clean gardens, parks with aquatic activities and all within one hours drive of the Spirit of Tasmania one way and Stanley to the West for day trips. Also a gateway to the West Coast. Excellent self contained cabins and units. Caravan, Camper and Camping sites have access to amenities and kitchen. Also dog friendly stay with a dog beach directly in front of the Park.

Maybe the bathroom being cleaned 5 days ago was the last time it was done? very dated grotty ammenities with prison toilets, too low shower heads and no way to dry hands. Owners rant on checking in included free camping ruining her park, covid and councils. We were placed on the main walk way to the beach despite booking in with our dog and many other sites available. Need a key for toilets and were chased down to return it this morning despite having not checked out yet. Water access continues to be an issue. One washing machine and dryer which are locked at 6pm.

We recently had two nights stay at the tourist Park, and if I could give a minus review this would be it. From the moment we booked in the woman was abrupt and should’ve had warning then. My husband and I went out for a walk one day and on our return we realized that some one had been in the cabin. Can only assume it was the owner. When you rent a property technically anyone entering is doing so unlawfully. Would not recommend this park to anyone, no internet, cluttered cabin and no air con.

Yelp
The beach retreat does not get the road noise from the highway. You can be in bed and listen to the waves from the beach only metres away. Every visit sees a very warm welcome from the owners. The town is a short walk away so you can dump the car and get about on foot. The cabins are well looked after and there's everything you need. I am already looking forward to my next visit.

Yelp
If you're touring in Tasmania, skip this beachfront caravan park. This review was warranted after a disturbing late night confrontation from a hostile park manager and his wife. The instance was as disturbing and uncalled for as it was unexpected and uncharacteristic of such an otherwise amazing state. If you are looking for tenting after 8pm, keep driving; Somerset, Boat Harbor and Bernie have plenty of other options.

Yelp
We checked in during business hours and found the park hosts enormously helpful, welcoming, kind and generous. Once checked in, the park hosts ensured our stay was most pleasant, relaxing, safe and undisturbed by late night checkins. The facilities were amazing too - fantastic value for money with over and above facilities on offer, including fully equiped camp kitchen and warm and welcoming lounge/TV room to escape to if the weather turns nasty.
