Absolutely horrendous experience. I ordered 2 tacos- one carne asada and one Al pastor - each with no onions or chiles. Both tacos came with onions and chiles and sauce (even though they said up front no sauce came on the tacos). I politely asked them to fix my order and they came back with 2 rock hard tortilla shells with only meat inside. When I asked them why they were completely plain they just told me all the salsa has onions, which I understood and asked them for plain tomatoes and cheese. They told me they would have to charge me for that (after they completely screwed up my order) and said they would have to get their manager to come to the store and approve that. Needless to say I left and I I’ll never be back. 20 minutes and $26 completely wasted. Awful food and even worse service!!!

Google
We did dinner there last night enjoy all of the different tacos offered. It is perfect for kids to play in the sand while parents enjoy a meal and drink. It was quick and easy.

Google
Bomb drinks (mango daiquiri) and delicious tacos. The steak chimmichuri taco was definitely the best, tender and juicy and flavorful. Would pass on the grilled fish taco bc it was dry and overcooked. We would definitely come back for more drinks on the beach 🍹 Service was fast and friendly and there are picnic tables nearby on the beach reserved for patrons.

Google
I don't know if they have live music all the time, but that's what made me stop for a $23 drink and $12 taco!

Google
Great place to enjoy a drink or a bite of food overlooking the Coronado Beach and Hotel del Coronado. Weekends are busy yet we were able to get a table to enjoy the cold beverage enjoying the autumn sun. They play live music in the afternoons making the place to visit and enjoy time with family and friends. Free street parking is available a short walk away but can be hard to find at times. A must visit destination on your next trip to San Diego.

Google
Tourist tacos, tourist prices. They were decent size, but not worth the $9 each they're charging. Beef was dry and needed more sauce. Fish was overcooked to the point it wasn't the right texture anymore. Chips and green salsa was good, nice quality tortillas. Service from the guys was great, even though I had to ask for my card back when it wasn't returned.

Google
These tacos were fully loaded and full of flavor! So good! Drinks here are fun and have healthy pours! If you’re looking for a quick Bite, stop here! And there is seating at some picnic tables on the beach nearby! We were there on a Sunday, and they had live music! He was a great singer, singing a lot of covers and provided for a nice ambiance.

Google
$12 for one "normal" sized fish taco is a lot of money for mediocre food. Frankly, you're paying this price because you didn't plan ahead and got hungry walking the beachfront. The tacos are so unmemorable that it's been 15 minutes and I can't remember what they taste like. If I try hard enough, I remember it tasting like the schmutz between your teeth.

Yelp
I really like this place. It's at the Del down by the beach past the lawn. Great service by Jeffrey today. Ordered the fish taco and a tequila and soda. Both on point. You also can't beat the view of Coronado beach. Don't miss. Highly recommended!
google avatar

Michael M.

Yelp
The fish tacos were sub par. They looked like they were boiled on hot water. There was no texture, no grill marks indicating they were made fresh. They also didn't offer guacamole with their carne asada tacos. As an establishment that offers tacos in San Diego you would think that condiment would be offered. At best, their fruity drinks are worth the visit.

Yelp
Excellent Marg on the beach to top off a short day of work. Where else can coworkers enjoy a drink w feet in the sand. Pricey yes, and expected due to the location outdoors of the Hotel Del Coronado. Perfect place to grab a drink in a more laid back setting than the formal hotel property.

Yelp
One of two options at Hotel Del if you need food to go. The Surf & Turf is a rich mix of brisket and shrimp, Achiote Shrimp has a nice, perky spice. No thanks on the Catch of the Day Taco - the slab of fish is bland and dry and it tastes like it was the catch of several days ago. The Chile Relleno is a good one, esp for vegetarians - love the mushroom and pepper combination. There's also a Cheese Quesadilla for pickier palates. Not bad for a quick meal or a grab n' go. Conveniently located on the beach.

Yelp
Save your money and your patience -- skip the Beach + Taco Shack at Hotel Del Coronado. We went for lunch on July 4th and it was an absolute joke from start to finish. We waited in line for about 10 minutes and placed an order for four tacos (Achiote Shrimp, Fish, Pork Al Pastor, and Portobello Fajita) and one bottle of water. We were told it would be a 10-minute wait -- totally reasonable. But after 30 minutes of standing around, watching dozens of people who ordered after us get their food, I went up to check. The response? "It'll be another 20 minutes." For tacos. I asked to speak to a manager, and someone named Martha came over. I explained the situation, and instead of taking ownership or even showing a hint of concern, she gave me a list of excuses about how "busy" they were -- but couldn't explain why we, among everyone, were being skipped. She offered chips and salsa and water to make up for it, but that wasn't the point. I told her this was absurd, and if they couldn't handle basic taco orders, I wanted to speak to the Food & Beverage Director. Funny enough, he was "unavailable," but miraculously, our food appeared 10 minutes later. All in all, we waited 40 minutes for four tacos and a water that cost $65 -- and they were awful. The pork was burnt, the shrimp was rubbery, the fish was bland, and the only halfway decent thing was the portobello taco (and even that wasn't worth the price). I called again on Monday, July 7th and left a message for their Food & Beverage Director. No response. No apology. No accountability. Not even a courtesy call back. The fact that this place is part of a high-end resort makes it even more pathetic. Do yourself a favor: skip the overpriced mess and bring your own tacos from anywhere else. You'll spend less, wait less, and actually enjoy your food.

Yelp
Great location and live music. Drinks are OK, Tacos are not so good for being in the name. If you want to pay $15 for $4 tacos go here....lol.
google avatar

Alexis D.

Yelp
The steak taco was really good in my opinion! They're not shy about the serving on mine. I also got a Piña Colada and that was super refreshing on a hot day. Prices are steep but makes sense cause it's right by the beach.

Yelp
Great location for a taco stand at The Del- perfect view of the ocean and they have a cute Tiki Bar setup with seating on the beach. I came on a late Friday afternoon and they had live music playing. The line to order was very long so my friend and I opted to order online. The order took about 10 minutes to be ready and we picked it up behind the bar. By the time we picked up our food, the line at the bar was shorter so I also picked up a margarita, which was well made. I had the Surf & Birria Taco which was just ok. The flavor was kinda bland - the beef was dry and the shrimp was not spicy at all. This taco definitely needed hot sauce. Overall, this place is overpriced for what it is but it's at The Del with an amazing location so...
google avatar

Yelp
Make your way down to the beach either from the hotel or free street parking North of the hotel. There is live music Fri-Sun 1-4PM. There is a full bar and lite food choices on the strand walk with picnic tables to take your shoes off and put your toes in the sand. People watch and listen to the waves.

Yelp
Well it's a taco truck on the beach in front of The Del so I should have expected that sort of pricing for a simple taco and drink... but $50 for 2 tacos and 2 drinks? Insane. Food was okay... hubs ordered a spicy shrimp taco which he said had no hint of spice and I had the fish taco which lacked flavor but was okay. Glass of wine and a beer each $17 and $14... insane to me. I will say the location is key. Our kids could play on the beach right in front of us while we sat at a picnic table to eat and drink. The beach was trashed with people's garbage which makes me so angry, but they do try to keep up with cleaning the area around the tables. Would I go back? Probably not. But I do see the appeal given the location and ease of it.
google avatar

Jordan L.

Yelp
Worst tacos I've ever had and way too over priced. Salsa is insanely spicy too. Wouldn't recommend to my worst enemy. Ps don't get a quesadilla. They charged us 10$ for 2 soggy corn taco tortillas not even cut up with a tiny bit of cheese
google avatar

Yelp
Am being generous on the rating because location, location, location. First of all, it's at "The Del", right on the sand. What's not to like about that? Live music was a plus. As far as ordering and food, don't expect to be pleasantly surprised - instead, plan to go with the flow. I stood in line with Sweet Granddaughter while Dear Hubby searched for a table with an umbrella for shade. The menu is tacos or tacos. I picked Barbacoa Beef for DH, and a fish taco for me. Found out that they have kids quesadilla, which wasn't on the menu. Though families eat here, the bartenders are all about making alcoholic drinks; the food is secondary to them. In an unpractical fashion, the drinks are served in plastic cups with no lids, so good luck getting them to your table without spilling. I asked SG to help me carry a cup of water, and much of that ended up sprinkling the ground. I had my hands full with a beer for DH and a virgin pina colada for me. Meanwhile, I also paid for our tacos at the same time, but they tell you to come back in about 10 minutes and they'll have the order ready in the back of the building where the kitchen is, not up front where the bar holds center stage. DH goes to get the order, and gives them my name. They hand him my Lianne order, but it really was for Lucas. Lucas had a similar order to ours, but not the exact order. Thus I paid $50+ for 3 tacos, a beer, and a virgin drink, and didn't even get what I ordered. Awkward. The setting of being on the sand with the bay in the distance, the Del over our shoulders, and live music being played made for a relaxing time. If we go back, I will hover by the kitchen and make sure that I get the correct order!

Yelp
I am very sad to say that coming here pregnant has been not as enjoyable as normal. We have been coming here for years. We love the live music. Jason who plays here is amazing! We always order like you should if you are sitting and enjoy the live music. The problem is no one comes around to check to make sure people aren't just taking up the tables. They have way less tables than they use to so it doesn't accommodate as many groups anymore with the picnic tables. I ordered food 7 1/2 months pregnant and they won't serve you a water. You have to walk to the back for water. So here I and pregnant, got my water, now there are no tables and my food came out. I am in a horrible mood because of this and had horrible service considering. Then of course there were people there who didn't order and no one who works there is checking. Very disappointed after spending $13+ on 1 single taco that wasn't very good. This is the second day we have come here as it is a favorite spot of ours. However, it looks like we will be frequenting somewhere else where you get treated better since it wasn't good service either day. Loyalty does you no good here.

Yelp
At Hotel Del near beach chair rentals. We weren't too hungry and appreciated the reasonable cost here. Around $9 per shrimp or fish taco, come with corn tortillas, generous toppings with avocado and slightly spicy chipotle crema and pico de gallo, with slaw. If you rent loungers or above, you can order from beach service. We decided to order directly at the stand so it didn't have time to get cold. Recommended.

Amanda L.

Yelp
Do not ever go here!!! I paid $20 for one drink and then they charged me another $57 for no reason!! I don't know if they thought they could take advantage of me because I look young, but this is unacceptable!

Yelp
We were staying at the hotel Del Coronado and had planned ahead to get tacos from the taco shack, put our toes in the sand and enjoy the beach atmosphere but when I got there they were closed down for remodeling. No warning at all so they were serving their tacos out of this truck, you'll see in the pictures. I got the fish taco with mahi-mahi in it and it was very lovely and then got a stone IPA. The server in the truck was kind of rude and short with me. No clue why I even tipped him well even after his rudeness. The gal that brought me my taco, which I ate sitting on a cement wall was much nicer than he was. Wish I got his name. Anyway, I cannot wait until they're done remodeling this whole place because it's really special.

Yelp
I know people have said it before, but the location of the Beach & Taco Shack is fantastic. The ocean, live music, cocktails and taco, what's not to love?! We got the Beef Barbacoa Taco and Surf & Birria Taco and damn they were good. Two of us got the sunset beach and neither of us were fans. The whiskey point and peachy bottom were very tasty. The guys mixing and taking orders were super friendly and very welcoming.

Yelp
The sand is perfect, and the view the same. Couple that with great service and live music for a really nice day. That about sums it up. Jaime was a great server - very friendly and attentive - we felt like it was important to him we were happy. We began with the Windandsea and Pipeline cocktails. The Windandsea was ok, but I would not order again. My wife enjoyed the Pipeline. Food was a big disappointment. After looking at the menu (and the ridiculous prices!) we decided to go for street tacos for lunch. The tacos were not cheap ($8 per street taco), but we were not that hungry and a better option. We had the shrimp and grilled Mahi Mahi tacos. The shrimp were ok, but the Mahi Mahi were dry, overcooked, and not much flavor. Maybe the steak taco is the way to go, but we did not try it. Each taco came topped with slaw, pico, and guacamole. We also ordered the Smashed Avocado (guacamole) with chips for $21. It truly was only one avocado's worth of guacamole at best and only a few chips - just enough for 1 person. To come up with the 4 overall, I rate the view and experience a 5, the service a 5 and the food a 1.
google avatar

Aseel K.

Yelp
Delicious tacos you can enjoy on the beach! The spicy shrimp taco is my favorite! They have plenty of fun drinks and the tacos take 5 mins to prepare :) the staff is so friendly and quick. It's nice to enjoy during sunset as well with live music on the weekend!
google avatar

Eri O.

Yelp
This place is a GEM;) Thank you Jeffery for your kindness, cute smile, and a lot of coke refills. We will definitely be back to here!
google avatar

Mallory R.

Yelp
Ignoring the fact that the prices are high because of the resort, this place was perfect. I got the shrimp and the catch of the day tacos, which were giant and very good. Can't complain about much here, beer and tacos on the beach is hard to pass up.
google avatar

Alaina H.

Yelp
Little taco shack right on the beach behind the Hotel Del. Quick and easy service. I got the Catch of the Day taco which was Mahi Mahi. Could use some more flavor tbh but it was decent. About $9 for this one taco.
google avatar

Pranjali S.

Yelp
3.5 stars for the tacos. 0.5 stars for the friendly staff. So as much I as loved the vibe of the Sun Deck, if you're looking for the shack experience, look no further than the Beach Shack. They have tables up front, some high, some low, others picnic tables with mismatched chairs and umbrellas. Music plays all around you and you can see people chilling, playing, getting ready to get into the water, all right in front of you. If you ever wanted the relaxed beach vibe, this is it!! We chose the beef, fish and shrimp tacos and the chips and salsa. Out of the tacos- I liked the fish, shrimp, beef in descending order. I really liked all of them. They're not anywhere close to what you'd get at Taco Stand or Salud, but you also won't get the vibes at those places. I lived the salsa as it was gauc based. The chips were decent. For the two of us, all of this food was quite filling. A well-spent early afternoon by the beach. FYI: you can use the Del dining credit here..
google avatar

Sarah T.

Yelp
Convenient and beautiful location, friendly staff, high priced food for what you get. With being located right on the beach at Del, the location can't be beat because it's so convenient to walk up grab tacos and enjoy the beach. However, this also means that they're able to over charge. The tacos were decent, but I rarely ever think any taco is worth 9$. Oh and 10$ for a beer? Way too much.
google avatar

Kaelyn G.

Yelp
This is a classic looking taco shack on the beach in front of Hotel del Coronado. I would say it's a must go if you're in the area because their tacos are bomb. Full of flavor with every amazing bite!! The reason why I did not give 5 stars is because it's crazy overpriced. A single taco is ~$7 and a single drink is ~$17. There are no chips, rice, beans, or anything else included. But I will say you get a couple cherries with the pina colada, which was nice touch. However, the prices are high because you're literally eating tacos and drinking alcoholic slush drinks ON THE BEACH. So the surcharge is expected. (There are only tables on the beach to eat, no inside or covered dining available). So would I recommend going? Yes absolutely. It's insanely delicious. But one time is enough for me!

Anonymous D.

Yelp
Ordered one of their "drinks for two". It was a pineapple full of cocktail, plus two more cups to refill the pineapple two more times. Three pineapples full of cocktail. It was the weakest drink I've ever had in my life. I didn't even get buzzed, and I'm a light weight. It was $60. The bartender was kind of rude, and couldn't be bothered to put straws into my drinks, like I'm just going to slurp directly from a pineapple. Of course it's popular because it's on the beach, but I'd go somewhere else.

Christine A.

Yelp
This used to be a good place. I've been here many times and had their Mai Tai which they call surfers point. It had always been good and strong. I brought a Tiki friend from my Tiki group there, and there was barely a pour of rum and way too much pineapple juice. In the past, it has been a great cocktail. It was so sickeningly sweet we could barely drink it. The tacos were good, but when I went to discuss the cocktail with the bartender, he literally threw his head back and laughed at me. I asked him if he could make me a strong one like they usually are and he said sure I'll make you a double and I'll charge you for a double. It did not go well, and I won't be back and I won't be bringing my group of 50 Tiki girls there for an event.

Enio P.

Yelp
Come here for over priced drinks, bland food and rude staff. Staff was actually yelling at a customer wanting to fight them. Definitely a place I will never come to.
google avatar

Boris K.

Yelp
While on a bicycle cruise around town, I stopped off here for a bite and a drank. Location and ambiance was very relaxing. Crowded but not too crowded. It took a little longer than anticipated to place an order, and longer to get my tacos. That's fine, it's expected on a Saturday afternoon. Slightly disappointed at the size of the fish in the tacos, as well as the flavor. They were both a bit dry and fish tasted overdone, but I ate it anyway. The drink was tasty and I felt like a second would have been the perfect amount, but I already spent over $30 on a small drink and 2 small tacos so I left. Sadly I will probably not return. If the food was a bit better, the experience overall would have been much more pleasant.

Rachel F.

Yelp
Typically have a great experience here however today I ordered a Diet Coke and plain fish taco and it was so overpriced I actually walked back to check my bill. $17 for this!!! Tiniest piece of fish I've ever seen. Absolute joke.
google avatar

Estie A.

Yelp
I hope Hilton never mucks with this place... though given the fact that it's unclaimed on Yelp doesn't bode well for their lack of interest in this place. Please, let there always be a casual, feet-in-the-sand, rough-hewn furniture with 360 views of water, sand, the Del, and passerbys. I don't want to come back next year and find that this place was replaced with a "member's only, must give up your firstborn to sit here" kind of establishment. The Sun Deck, until very recently, was my go-to place to have a drink or two, *maybe* have a bite (but usually not), relax, recoup, and regroup. But changes there have pushed me out to the Taco Shack and I'm honestly not disappointed. The drinks at the Taco Shack are expensive, which is a given. It is part of the resort, after all. But they are delicious and creative. There are a couple beers on tap, plus cans. The customer service is just fine. Friendly and efficient. Nothing more or less than it needs to be. I'm perfectly capable of getting up and ordering my own drinks. I have thoroughly enjoyed spending the last few nights drinking some fruity tropical libations while watching the sunset. Never change, Taco Shack. Never change.
google avatar

John N.

Yelp
A bar and taco hut right next to the beach walkway and sand. Found this place on my way to the Dog Beach from Hotel Del Coronado. It's a perfect stop to load up on ETOH and fish tacos. There are tables and umbrellas you can relax at to consume everything while you're enjoying the view and the sun.
google avatar

Alania C.

Yelp
Everything is overpriced I mean I guess it comes with the territory. Parking is $20/hr but $10 with purchase. Tacos are $8-$8.50 each and they're just ok nothing special; my shrimp taco had 3 pieces of shrimp! Absolute joke. 4 tacos and a beer $44! Not including tip or parking. 2hrs at the beach cost me about $60 what a joke. I won't be returning
google avatar

Katherine M.

Yelp
I stumbled upon this gem four months ago when I was in Coronado for a conference. This is the perfect spot to grab fresh tacos and a strong tropical cocktail as you sit on large chairs on the sunset watching the sunset. The surf and turf is my go to which is a mix of Shrimp and carne asada with fresh salsa and pickled onions. Their tropical drinks are delicious and strong. The servers are always delightful and orders come out quickly. I wish they were open a little longer!
google avatar

Frankie K.

Yelp
Pretty basic tacos and drinks. Also pricey since they are on the beach. The taco options are slim, I think it was like 4 or 5 that they offered. Carne Asada was different, rubbery, and lacked flavor.
google avatar

Kisha M.

Yelp
Super expensive food but thankfully the food was actually good. They did a pretty good job of moving the line pretty quickly and the food came out pretty fast. The shrimp and asada were the best.
google avatar

Allyson N.

Yelp
The tacos are delicious! I've recommended this place to anyone I know going to Coronado or San Diego. The drinks and music along with the view and great tacos are a treat. Drinks are not cheap and the tacos are a La cart and the only food here. It was $120 for (6) tacos and three drinks with tip. Park by the beach not in hotel.
google avatar

Danielle M.

Yelp
This is a place to ball out by the water - the drinks are good, the staff are friendly, and the beach? BEAUTIFUL. My boyfriend and I decided and to stop by and grab a drink here while on a stroll and I'm really glad we did. I got the Killer Point, which, despite being pricey, was delicious! I appreciate the location of this little bar too! Drop by here if you're at Coronado and want a little liquid energy while relaxing on the beach!
google avatar

Veronika O.

Yelp
Easy access to the taco shop from the beach walkway and lots of seating. The shrimp tacos I got were actually really really good, the only thing they're missing is a good hot sauce they give you little packets that are very similar to Taco Bell maybe I was really hungry but the tacos are well-made minus the salsa. This taco shop is part of the hotel Del Coronado which is a very nice property and historical
google avatar

Galina W.

Yelp
Vegan friendly place! Very beautiful scenery: beach, drinks, live music - what else do you need?
google avatar

G K.

Yelp
Miss the old menu. They use to have a beef taco that was magnificent. It was a thin piece of flank steak that was perfectly seasoned. The new beef (barbacoa) is shredded beef with sauce on top. There's no comparison. So sad. This use to be one of the highlights of my trip to The Del.
google avatar

India H.

Yelp
This was my first time visiting the hotel Coronado back on Feb 2020 and I must say it was absolutely beautiful. I stopped by the beach taco shack on a whim and it was well worth it! The tacos, drinks, live music and the overall vibe was perfect! I will be visiting again soon.
google avatar

Elsa M.

Yelp
The sunset drink was delicious. I could have ordered a few more. The tacos were cold and the meat was one large piece. I loved that you can eat/drink right on the beach. There was a lot of noise from the military aircraft's. They also had live music playing which was great. Overall I'd come back for drinks but not food.
google avatar

Raymond C.

Yelp
Hi, I am very unhappy with the Pina Colada I had on7/22 at 6:19 pm.It didn't even taste like a pina colada, and my wife tried it and she agreed. I can't understand why any bar would have a server or bartender that doesn't know how to make a good drink.Especially for $18.70..The server was Justin and when he gave me my drink he just rushed off!!I signed the check and left. Raymondchala
google avatar

Ricardo D.

Yelp
Great tacos. Would recommend the food, tastes great and good size. At least $8 for a taco though so -1 star there and no chips included -1 star. Great tacos though
google avatar

Kiana T.

Yelp
All I can say is rude. Lmao. My first time there and I would ask a question, they would walk away. Seems like they don't care to be there. Guy who helped me seemed to be in his own world. Shitty service but I still tipped them!
google avatar

Emma J.

Yelp
Grabbed a couple drinks here on our visit to Coronado. The vibe was great, there was live music (that was actually pretty good), the sun was shining, and there were actually open tables. This place must make bank, there was a line the whole time we were there and from what we could tell, it was the only bar on the beach. Each drink was $17, which was pretty expected for the beachfront prices. Both of the drinks were good, and actually very fancy.
google avatar

Aa M.

Yelp
My daughter and I really enjoy this place! Tacos are big and flavorful. The service is friendly for a stand type place. We come to Coronado several times a year and make a point to stop here for sand, sun and this taco stand. We get our favorite drink, surfers point, the just relax with good conversation. Today they had a live singer. How great is that!

Jennifer C.

Yelp
Fun little spot on the beach. Drinks are refreshing and the taco was fresh and had a good balance of flavor. It's a little pricey, however, you can't beat the location! Definitely recommend for lunch or a mid day snack. Lots of tables nearby. Staff were also friendly and welcoming to customers.
