I read through some recent reviews knocking this resort down, and to be honest I disagree. While it is not the most “luxurious” by some people’s standards, my girlfriend and I had a wonderful time and had no complaints after spending 4 nights there. What the resort lacks in amenities or “luxury” it makes up for in character, charm, authentic Fijian feel, and the staff. Truly, the staff made our experience unforgettable. Solomon and Fresh, our two bartenders took care of us for the entirety of our trip. They always ensured we were happy with the drinks they made us, and we had some great conversations with them about Fiji, the drinks, and anything else! These two were so lovely and so kind, two amazing individuals who we were so grateful to have met. Beachcomber management, well done with these two hires!!! Seru, our guide from the resort for fishing one day and snorkeling another day was great. The captain who took us out with Seru (can’t remember his name but he was awesome) was amazing as well. My girlfriend had never caught a fish, and he made sure she had the chance to do so before our trip was done. Seru was a great guide and the Rainbow Bommies Snorkelling trip was a highlight. As for on the resort, there is great snorkeling off the beach in both directions. Vibrant coral and soooo manyyyy fish! The beach is a bit rocky at times but lots of soft sand as well. We loved our daily walks up and down the beach looking for shells and sea glass! The food was good! It wasn’t Michelin star by any means but I don’t know what people expect from a tiny island that doesn’t market themselves as a 5-star resort. We had no complaints. The breakfast buffet was ample and delicious, and dinners were also great. The highlight for us was the lovo feast on Saturday. Lunch had less options but they also had to feed the day trippers, so I understand doing less options but more quantity (again, still delicious). The day trippers did make the island “busy” but truly there’s so much beach space that it’s not that bad. The massages were wonderful, (we had two each), and the reception staff were lovely. On our final day, right before we left, my girlfriend dropped her two necklaces down beneath our deck through the crack, and we could not grab it. Within minutes, the maintenance team of 5 was unscrewing the planks of the deck to grab them for us. The only “negative” was that the internet was unreliable when away from the main lounge/dining area, but truly that should not be your priority when in Fiji. It was a great chance to disconnect for a bit from life and enjoy our time on the island. Thank you thank you to all staff at Beachcomber for an unforgettable experience!

This is the first time I’ve ever felt the need to leave a negative review, but in this case it’s absolutely deserved. When we arrived, they kindly offered to bring our suitcase to the room. Thirty minutes later, still nothing. When we went back to the reception, we found the suitcase just left in the sand, completely unattended. Not a big deal on its own, but it really set the tone for the rest of the stay — careless and unprofessional. The room itself was fine — fairly clean and okay overall — but right in front of it, the small beach was full of debris, wooden planks, and pieces of metal sticking out of the ground. It looked more like a construction site than a resort beach, unsafe and neglected. Then came the so-called “turtle conservation program”, which was honestly shocking. They advertise it as an ecological experience, but in reality, it’s just a tourist attraction. Baby turtles were taken out of the water, passed from hand to hand so guests could “pet” them, while the staff made jokes and tossed them around like toys. Even the large turtles were lifted and handled by everyone for photos. It was incredibly sad and completely disrespectful toward the animals. The worst part happened during a short kayak trip. We just wanted to paddle around the island, and we placed our belongings (drone, phone, controller, etc.) in the so-called waterproof compartment of the canoe. Within seconds, the kayak started sinking — literally. We ended up in the water, losing the drone and controller. We immediately asked to speak with a manager. He came, visibly uncomfortable, and after “checking” with the owner’s wife (who we crossed paths with a few minutes later and who walked right past us without even looking at us), he simply handed us a piece of paper with an email address, saying we should write directly to the owner — which we did. Result: no answer, no follow-up, nothing. More than 24 hours later, still complete silence. The next day, during check-out, we asked to meet the owner before paying the bill. He first tried to avoid the conversation, but when he saw that we were waiting right in front of the door, he eventually came out. Suddenly, lots of apologies and a small gesture of goodwill. But honestly, the damage was done — instead of owning up to things right away, with a simple word of apology, they left us waiting and frustrated for the entire day. As for the food, it was terrible. Nothing authentic, everything tasted industrial. The menu had nothing local or Fijian about it: chicken burgers, meat lover pizzas, fish & chips, etc. During the so-called “Italian night”, there were four types of pasta and four sauces, all clearly canned and just reheated together. Even the fruit salad came straight from a tin, and the desserts were all factory-made. Extremely expensive for what it is, and if you want a dessert, you’ll have to add another $20. The bar wasn’t any better — dull atmosphere, outdated music (old American and Australian songs from the 70s–80s), and visibly tired staff with no energy or smile. The only time we saw a bit of life was when we asked them to put on some Fijian music to lighten the mood. Finally, the island itself was nothing special. The small beach in front of the resort was average at best, and the rest was mostly rocks. The “snorkeling excursions” lasted barely 20 minutes and only went about 50 meters from shore. Nothing remarkable or worth mentioning. In short, a disappointing stay from start to finish. Behind the marketing about an “authentic Fijian experience” hides a place with no soul, no respect for guests, and no respect for nature. We weren’t expecting luxury — just something simple, genuine, and welcoming. But here, everything felt fake.

A wonderful island just off of Fiji mainland. Excellent service, and very friendly staff. Regular activities, good for a day trip or a few days! I stayed here 3 days which was great. Sun rises on the beach and sets over the other side of the island. RE: Meals Half board is breakfast only, full board includes lunch and dinner (entrée and mains only - dessert at a cost of $20 FJD). If you pay as you go lunch is $40 FJD and dinner is $75 FJD, combined full board ahead of time is $110 FJD. Barista coffee can be purchased for $8 FJD.

I visited Beachcomber Island in 2008 when the Yasawa Islands were known as the "Backpacker Islands". The crowd was relaxed, prices affordable and you stayed in a massive dorm. Beachcomber was renowned as the "Party Island" and that is what you got. Things have changed a lot since then: the resort has been sold by the local owner to an australian investor, bungalows have been build, prices went up, now attracting more solvent couples and families. Additional, you'll get a large group of day trippers every day somehow ruining the "island paradise" vibe. Like everywhere in the Yasawas, you need to pay extra for the compulsory meal package, however, here you can at least choose between a full and a half board. While lunch is buffet style, you can choose your dish from a menu for dinner. Don't expect a culinary firework for dinner and less so for the lunch buffet. When we had our "Italian buffet" the pasta was cold and vegetarian options basically non-existing, which is a really almost impossible when it comes to Italian food. They didn't manage to prepare a simple tomato sauce to go with the pasta. However, meat lovers had lots of choices, but the dishes were quite uninspired and almost always without any salt. Activity-wise there is a free snorkling trip, where you join the day trippers for a quick boat ride a few meters away from the island where there are some corals but mostly fish underneath the boat waiting to get fed by the tour guide. 10 minutes boat ride to the spot, 15 minutes snorkling, 10 minutes boat ride back. If you want to go on a longer snorkling trip then you have to - you guessed it already - pay extra. We didn't do it, so we cannot say it that trip is actually worth the money. Also, there are always announcements by microphone which make you feel like you're in a train station or airport. To sum it up: to us it didn't feel like island paradise (anymore) and unfortunately it all became too commercialized and overprized, even though Beachcomber is indeed one of the cheaper resorts in the Yasawas. I understand that things change over the years but I guess I would not come back but rather head on to one of those rare remaining homestays in the Yasawas instead.

We started our trip on another island and booked two nights at this hotel. To get here, you have to travel quite a long way since the ferry doesn’t stop here unless you come from the main island. We bought ferry tickets to a nearby island, only 15 minutes away by small boat, and asked the hotel for help — just to pick us up as paying guests who already booked two nights at peak-season rates. The price they asked for this short 15-minute ride was outrageously high — $135 per person. Even the manager of our previous hotel and the ferry staff said it was extreme. We travel all over the world and often stay in luxury resorts like Six Senses — we know what fair pricing is. This is not how you treat guests who come to spend their money on your island during peak season. We just arrived — we’ll update later on how the rest of our stay goes.

Nearly a year on and we still talk of this wonderful island everyday. An experience me and my boyfriend will never forget. A must visit when in Fiji. Shoutout to the Fijian staff who made our time special. We love you Beachcomber!

This is the first time in my life that I’ve left a bad review on Google, but I have to do it. Usually I post positive reviews to help people and encourage them, and I’ve been disappointed before in other places, but never like this. The room was decent and fairly clean—nothing special, but at least presentable. However, the beach access right in front is a complete mess: debris and metal spikes everywhere. No regard for safety, which can be very dangerous, especially if you have children. For three days, we were completely left unattended. Despite the “Please clean the room” signs, nothing was done. Even when asking at the front desk for fresh towels, they promised to bring them… and never did. The facilities are very low quality and partially unusable, with broken sunbeds and construction debris left on the sand. They might claim there’s work going on for the pool, but that does not excuse leaving planks and spikes lying around—it’s dangerous and unacceptable. Their “turtle program” is an abomination: baby and adult turtles are handled by everyone, passed from hand to hand like toys. Absolutely catastrophic for the animals and completely disrespectful. The food is disastrous. Chicken burgers, “meat lover” pizzas, canned fruit salads… everything is industrial and basic, nothing fresh. Desserts are also industrial, barely opened from boxes. Even themed nights, like “Italian night,” are laughable: four basic pasta types, four sauces… all from cans, simply opened and mixed. No effort, no real cooking. The bar is dull and depressing. The music is exclusively old American or Australian songs from the 70s-80s, very depressing. Even the staff seems unhappy. The only time the atmosphere slightly improved was when we asked them to play Fijian music, just to bring a bit of cheer. If you are Australian and want a vacation without changing your habits, this might work for you: prices are listed in both Fijian and Australian dollars, and you’ll even find some Australian beers. But for the rest of the world, if you’re looking for a genuine Fijian experience, local cuisine, or any authenticity at all, not recommended. The island itself is uninteresting. The beach in front of the resort is nothing special, and behind it is just rocks. Snorkeling excursions are ridiculous: 20 minutes by boat to go 50 meters, then swim back. Absolutely nothing worth seeing. In short: decent room but non-existent service, dangerous and broken facilities, mistreated turtles, awful food and bar, and an uninteresting island. Would not recommend.

Bula! My partner & I stayed for 2 nights and had the best experience, from the beautiful hospitality from the staff, to the amazing experiences they had to offer, including snorkeling, Fijian dancing, karaoke, cooking classes, turtle feeding, and so much more. We booked the full board, which included buffet breakfast, lunch, and dinner; which I highly recommend. My partner had organised in advance with the hotel a special proposal & the hotel staff went to the extra effort to make the evening special. This resort will always hold a special place in our hearts, 10/10!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️🇫🇯🇫🇯
