This is the first time I’ve ever felt the need to leave a negative review, but in this case it’s absolutely deserved.
When we arrived, they kindly offered to bring our suitcase to the room. Thirty minutes later, still nothing. When we went back to the reception, we found the suitcase just left in the sand, completely unattended. Not a big deal on its own, but it really set the tone for the rest of the stay — careless and unprofessional.
The room itself was fine — fairly clean and okay overall — but right in front of it, the small beach was full of debris, wooden planks, and pieces of metal sticking out of the ground. It looked more like a construction site than a resort beach, unsafe and neglected.
Then came the so-called “turtle conservation program”, which was honestly shocking.
They advertise it as an ecological experience, but in reality, it’s just a tourist attraction. Baby turtles were taken out of the water, passed from hand to hand so guests could “pet” them, while the staff made jokes and tossed them around like toys. Even the large turtles were lifted and handled by everyone for photos. It was incredibly sad and completely disrespectful toward the animals.
The worst part happened during a short kayak trip.
We just wanted to paddle around the island, and we placed our belongings (drone, phone, controller, etc.) in the so-called waterproof compartment of the canoe. Within seconds, the kayak started sinking — literally. We ended up in the water, losing the drone and controller.
We immediately asked to speak with a manager. He came, visibly uncomfortable, and after “checking” with the owner’s wife (who we crossed paths with a few minutes later and who walked right past us without even looking at us), he simply handed us a piece of paper with an email address, saying we should write directly to the owner — which we did.
Result: no answer, no follow-up, nothing.
More than 24 hours later, still complete silence.
The next day, during check-out, we asked to meet the owner before paying the bill. He first tried to avoid the conversation, but when he saw that we were waiting right in front of the door, he eventually came out. Suddenly, lots of apologies and a small gesture of goodwill.
But honestly, the damage was done — instead of owning up to things right away, with a simple word of apology, they left us waiting and frustrated for the entire day.
As for the food, it was terrible.
Nothing authentic, everything tasted industrial. The menu had nothing local or Fijian about it: chicken burgers, meat lover pizzas, fish & chips, etc.
During the so-called “Italian night”, there were four types of pasta and four sauces, all clearly canned and just reheated together. Even the fruit salad came straight from a tin, and the desserts were all factory-made. Extremely expensive for what it is, and if you want a dessert, you’ll have to add another $20.
The bar wasn’t any better — dull atmosphere, outdated music (old American and Australian songs from the 70s–80s), and visibly tired staff with no energy or smile. The only time we saw a bit of life was when we asked them to put on some Fijian music to lighten the mood.
Finally, the island itself was nothing special.
The small beach in front of the resort was average at best, and the rest was mostly rocks. The “snorkeling excursions” lasted barely 20 minutes and only went about 50 meters from shore. Nothing remarkable or worth mentioning.
In short, a disappointing stay from start to finish.
Behind the marketing about an “authentic Fijian experience” hides a place with no soul, no respect for guests, and no respect for nature.
We weren’t expecting luxury — just something simple, genuine, and welcoming. But here, everything felt fake.
