My parents and I came here to have beer, have lunch, and play pool. We are traveling and do not carry cash. They asked for a $10 deposit for the pool cue. We were the only ones in the restaurant/bar. I offered to give my ID or something else of value for the deposit for the pool cue or even pay on card. The waitress refused bluntly.
The lack of service in Airlie as a whole is ridiculous. The customer comes last and many of the waitresses/waiters seem to despise their job and not want to be here. They look and act miserable.
This place is very run down as well so it seems they don't care about their customers. Looks like a local dive bar.
We are not unruly, nor demanding customers. It just baffles me how unaccommodating Airlie is as a whole. This place was my last straw.
Maybe coming from the states and now living in Melbourne has created my expectation that customer service and working within customer service means that you service the customers.
It seems like the further you go up the coast of Australia the dumber, more unaccommodating the service.
