My Son Has Autism, and These Are 7 Trips I Recommend for Neurodiverse Families

"An autism-certified, all-inclusive resort on Seven Mile Beach with daily snorkel trips, unlimited water sports, three pools and a water park. Kids Camp staff are trained in sensory awareness, motor skills, social skills, communication and emotional regulation, and guests complete a pre-travel form so activities can be tailored to likes, dislikes and triggers. Families can hire a paid buddy ($20/hour) for one-on-one support — in one account the buddy played video games in the XBOX lounge and rode waterslides repeatedly — which provides respite for caregivers to relax at the beach or swim-up bar." - Lisa Kadane

"Escape to Cosmo's Beach When you tire of the people watching, loud music and hustle and bustle of Negril's central Seven Mile Beach, walk or drive over to its northern stretch. The private Cosmos Beach section--with a minimal entrance fee, under US$5--faces the best seafood restaurant in town, Cosmo's. The beach is a wide, endless white expanse with thatched bars, dispersed hammocks, and calm sea views. You'll find a few fellow tourists, but you'll hardly notice them."

We had a fantastic experience from airport greetings, to check-in with the concierge, to dining experiences, to snorkeling adventures, to relaxing on the beach or by the pool. We have older children (11, 15 and 17) and there was lots for them to do. The staff were all truly incredible - very friendly and attentive. The Tropical Oversized Concierge Family Suite worked fine for the 5 of us especially given that we didn't spend a lot of time in the room! The food and dining options were impressive. Although we dined at the 3 restaurants requiring reservations (all of which were excellent), a pleasant surprise was the ever-changing selections/variety at the buffet. It was a terrific holiday - thank you.

I just came back from a wonderful amazing trip to Beaches Negril! Everyone there was marvelous and made us feel right at home! I would like to give an extra special shout-out to the following people: 1. Nicarno aka Sarge and Anita for making our beach excursion so special! 2. Victoria, Renae, and Kimberley who knew our orders at Soy sushi by heart and made us feel so welcome, as we ate there everyday! 3. Kerry-Ann gave us very warm greetings and took such good care of my family! 4. Micah and Lawrenzo from the Water Sports Dept always recognized me as Grover and made certain our family and especially me as I am 80 years old were safe on the Hobie Cat and other activities! 5. Sansheya created the best Nutella crepes ever, as I visited her everyday! 6. Chanicka the Chef from Yaku and Christie made gluten free specialties for my grandson and made us feel right at home! 7. Danielle always made us feel right at home at her resort!! 8. Akeem went above and beyond in providing the greatest gift of all by training my daughter and grandsons to become scuba certified and even came in on his day off on Christmas! 9. Finally, I have to thank the Grover Sesame Street character for always including me in the Grover activities, including the parade and dance numbers, as I always wore my Grover shirts and hats! Love, Grover

We had a fantastic trip at beaches negril! You could not even tell that the hurricane happened at the resort. The staff are all so wonderful and kind and appreciative of us staying at the resort. A special shout out to Royland and Chafey who went above and beyond to make our trip relaxing and easy. We had a fabulous experiance with a private boat rental. Lorenzo and David from the water sports staff provided an exceptional experiance with snorkeling and the boat tour which will be memories we will never forget. Beyond the service all of the staff were genuinely interested in helping in any way that they could. The food and drinks were great. The beach is spectacular, white sand with clear water.

We just got back from Beaches Negril and had a wonderful time! All staff members were accommodating and friendly from the groundskeepers to the entertainment staff. We were traveling with a young child with dietary restrictions, which made us nervous, but the restaurant staff and chefs were extremely helpful. The beach was beautiful and our children had a great time in the pool, lazy river, splash pad and waterpark. We had a walkout room which gave us quick access to the beach which we loved.

Our family of 7 stayed at the resort 12/13-12/20. This is our fourth experience with the Sandals/Beaches group and our most recent visit to Negril may have been the best yet. We’ve always utilized and booked their concierge services to help us streamline our plans for our stays. Highly recommend their services!| From start to finish the staff was unbelievable. The enthusiasm and care from all members of the staff are, and always have been very genuine. A very talented and caring team!| Other than a small amount of standing water in small areas of the beach, there was no signs of a recent hurricane. The grounds and facilities were in amazing condition. | All the food services were terrific, as they’ve been with all our stays with Sandals/Beaches. | After booking this trip I booked it with the thought that this may be our last trip to Jamaica for a while as we’ve enjoyed 4 stays within the last 8 years. The experience we had with Beaches Negril was so amazing that we plan to book again in the near future. Can’t say enough great things about the people and the culture. Thank you team Beaches Negril for an amazing experience and all of the memories!!

Amazing experience. We arrived on the first day of reopening. And they had an amazing welcoming party for us Despite the situation everyone was in they were all very happy and accommodating for us. Staff here is amazing. They are all extremely helpful and always happy. The pools are amazing. Rooms are great, food is amazing. Beach is amazing, each manager is amazing and friendly. Went snorkeling and the staff on the boat was awesome! Water park is awesome, kiddo loved it! Only suggestions: Music at the small pool is a little loud, the DJ occasionally thinks they are at a dance party and not at a family resort. WiFi wasn’t working, which is understanding with the infrastructure issues. I just wish the resort would have explained that to us. I had to work on a daily basis and had some issues connecting.

We booked our family vacation well before hurricane melissa and had hopes to keep our plans of going to Jamaica, even if we had to postpone. The Beaches resort is nice, its the people that made the stay one to remember. The room and beds were smaller than we had anticipated, but we made do and were not in the room much. The place is open completely, and ready for visitors. The Jamaican people are truly wonderful human beings, and that is why we love Jamaica!! We took two teen daughters, and they loved the beach. I would recommend this resort for younger kids and tweens.

The staff really makes the stay incredible and worth it. special mark to Kevoy the cook at the japanese restaurant kimono he’s first of all, an amazing entertainer but also a hell of a singer lol, its like the guy created autotune and also Andre he was amazing always filling up my drink I was never out of water! AND last but not least Christine she also sang so good and provided such a good entertainment. Everyone was so nice and so caring and that’s what I remember from my trip. recommend for anyone who wants to have an amazing stay and experience. Also there is alot of activity included in the stay like water ski, paddle board, banana boat free of charge and the staff is really concerned in a good way about your safety really nice BE NICE TO THE STAFF THEY ARE SO NICE
