My Son Has Autism, and These Are 7 Trips I Recommend for Neurodiverse Families

"An autism-certified, all-inclusive resort on Seven Mile Beach with daily snorkel trips, unlimited water sports, three pools and a water park. Kids Camp staff are trained in sensory awareness, motor skills, social skills, communication and emotional regulation, and guests complete a pre-travel form so activities can be tailored to likes, dislikes and triggers. Families can hire a paid buddy ($20/hour) for one-on-one support — in one account the buddy played video games in the XBOX lounge and rode waterslides repeatedly — which provides respite for caregivers to relax at the beach or swim-up bar." - Lisa Kadane

"Escape to Cosmo's Beach When you tire of the people watching, loud music and hustle and bustle of Negril's central Seven Mile Beach, walk or drive over to its northern stretch. The private Cosmos Beach section--with a minimal entrance fee, under US$5--faces the best seafood restaurant in town, Cosmo's. The beach is a wide, endless white expanse with thatched bars, dispersed hammocks, and calm sea views. You'll find a few fellow tourists, but you'll hardly notice them."

I recently spent time in Jamaica at south coast sandals until hurricane, Melissa Made landfall on the island of Jamaica. With extremely well thought out plans, guests, myself included, were moved to Beaches in Negril. Both Sandals and Beaches are owned by the same company. As you may know, Sandals is for couples, and Beaches is for families. The ride from south coast to Negril after the hurricane was something I will not forget. It was a nighttime drive, which was a good idea because the traffic was very low. The next morning opening the curtains I was delighted to see a beautiful resort in front of my eyes. I was over near pirates landing, and if you have kids? Well they are gonna love it. The staff, and I mean everyone that works at Beaches even after the hurricane, could not have been nicer and more pleasant to interact with. The interaction between the employee's of Beaches and the activities they have planned for the kids is spellbounding. I love it. The kids are just having the best times of their lives interacting with their parents and the activity's Beach's has to offers. Let me talk a bit about the food. Amazing. If you're a lover of sushi you absolutely must go to the restaurant, soy. Without a doubt, some of the best sushi I have ever eaten. The beach is absolutely beautiful as is of course, is the caribbean sea. My hat's off to the Beach's staff employee's everyone working there. You are all amazing. My room was a beautiful room.Clean as a whistle, beautiful bathroom.Nice shower and a balcony too.Sit and read while listening to the activities going on around you. I would definitely return to Beaches in the Negril. I do believe they didn't forget a thing while putting this gorgeous resort together. Well done. 5 stars

We have been on many family vacations and this week was the most amazing experience. The staff at Beaches Negril are so welcoming and kind! The entertainment staff is exploding with talent and energy. Our butlers worked to accommodate any request (even White Claws in Jamaica). The kid’s camp was clean with fun activities that interested my kids and I felt safe leaving them in good hands. There are many dining options with fun experiences like hibachi and sushi or a more traditional elegant meal at Stella on the beach. The Firesky Villa was beautiful, accommodating our large party and clean! Near our trip ending, there was news of a hurricane Melissa and our staff remained positive while the hotel held meetings for transparency. Many thanks to entertainment from: Delly, Jose, Shanana, the voice of Beaches, fire dancers, John, Jonoi, all of the kids camp staffers, Royland and Chafae (5 star butler).

This was our family’s fifth trip to Beaches Negril and it did not disappoint. The resort is not huge but large enough for everyone to relax and have fun. The highlight is absolutely the staff and people of Jamaica. They are so welcoming and do everything they can to make the vacation the best they can. While the food at the resort is not gourmet it is definitely better than average and there are enough choices for everyone to be happy. Our boys enjoy the freedom to just run around the the different areas, make new friends, participate in the games with the entertainment staff, and just have fun. I cannot say enough about the beach and the water…it is amazing! There is plenty of shaded seating and you can’t go wrong spending an afternoon just relaxing on the beach. We will definitely be back!

From the moment we arrived at Beaches Resort, we knew we were in for something special. The welcome was warm, with refreshing drinks and genuine smiles from the staff who made us feel like VIPs from day one. Every detail was thoughtfully planned to create a relaxing, fun, and unforgettable family vacation. **The Resort & Accommodations:** Our room was immaculate and beautifully decorated, with a stunning ocean view that felt like something out of a postcard. Housekeeping was incredibly attentive, and the little touches—like towel animals for the kids and a well-stocked mini-fridge—made a big. The food was *outstanding*. With so many restaurants to choose from, we never had to repeat a meal unless we wanted to (and we definitely went back for seconds at Soy Sushi Bar and The Jerk Shack!). Whether it was gourmet dining or a casual beachfront lunch, the quality and variety were excellent. Even the pickiest eaters in our group found their favorites. What truly set this vacation apart was the **service**. Every single team member—from waitstaff to kids’ club counselors—was warm, helpful, and eager to make our stay perfect. The level of hospitality we experienced is hard to put into words—it felt like everyone genuinely cared about our experience. Beaches Resort gave us more than just a vacation—it gave us quality time together, laughter, relaxation, and memories we’ll cherish forever. If you’re looking for a worry-free, luxury all-inclusive that caters to every member of the family, look no further. We’re already planning our return trip!

We just spend 6 days at Beaches Negril as a family of 4. It was our first time staying here for an extended stay and my kids first time to Jamaica. This vacation was literally perfection! 7 mile beach is stunning - there are so many starfish, stingrays, fish, etc.... that you see, even if you never leave the harbor. If you choose to utilize water sports (which you absolutely should), you get to experience even more stunning sea life. The resort has the best hospitality I have ever experienced in the Caribbean, hands down. The staff is all so kind. They truly become family and were all so tuned in to the kids. They remembered my kids names after day 1. Would also check in to make sure they were having fun and knew of the kids activities going on. The food was delicious. The rooms were perfect! I could not recommend this resort enough! Thank you Beaches Negril for giving us a wonderful week in Jamaica!

This was my first trip to Jamaica and Beaches. I was very impressed and happy with this vacation. The grounds were beautiful. The beach access was great. Everyone we came into contact with was always smiling and ready to help no matter what you needed. I will definitely be going back time and time again. Thank you for a fantastic vacation!

At Sandals South Coast during Hurricane Melissa then moved to Beaches Negril after. The resorts are absolutely beautifully designed and built. The staff are simply amazing and were wonderful even through the worst of worst scenarios. Not for one moment did we feel "in the way" or a nuisance, we were simply asked to ensure that we return, and that we certainly will. We have donated to the Sandals Foundation which does good work in the communities with the Dental volunteers in the resort at the same time as us. The resorts are beautifully designed with gorgeous beaches. Do Jamaica a favour and boost the tourism as soon as you are able to visit.

I am a little late with the review but watching the news and seeing the devastation heading to the beautiful island of Jamaica and seeing my five year old grandson in tears worried about the friends he made at the resort just breaks my heart for everyone. I need to say the staff made our vacation one of the best we have we had. Cooper wonders if his friends there miss him. the bartender with the new baby at home that had his Bob Marley ready for Coopermon every day. The brothers that operated the glass bottom boat that had so much patience for a boat crazy kid. And thank you Chanice in sales for being so wonderful. The smiling ladies in the gift store. The incredible staff in the concierge. The happy plumber lady that fixed our toilet. Every single employee that greeted us always with a happy face. You left a mark on our hearts and we are thinking of you and praying for you from Canada. 🙏. Don't ever hesitate to stay at this resort. We loved the food the beach the kids activities the fire dancers all of it. Much love to you all
