Yelp
Just finished my third visit at this lovely hotel. The service is excellent! In the morning they serve delicious pastries as well as other yummy foods. The ambiance is relaxing and enjoyable. In the common areas you can sit in a comfortable chair and read something from their selection of books, or you can just relax and watch tv. There is ample parking. The hotel room itself is clean and comfortable. I look forward to returning next year!

Yelp
This was my first and LAST stay at the Beacon Hotel. Being that COVID-19 has had a devastating impact on small businesses as well as the hospitality industry, I decided to choose this family-owned hotel compared to its local "brand name" competitors. Don't get me wrong, the hotel itself was clean and comfortable. But WOW does poor service leave a bad taste in your mouth. The website states "late check-out is available upon request"... but DO NOT bother requesting. Because as the manager and other front desk agent said and I quote "absolutely no exceptions". Being that check out is at 10AM, an hour earlier compared to the other hotels in the area, I didn't think this would be this much of an issue. However, the amount of attitude and insolence that was received upon asking this question was downright uncalled for. I nicely asked and received a no. Knowing that nothing is for free in life, I even offered to pay a fee or a half-days-rate as I felt that would be fair... but was given a snippy "no" and essentially scolded. Having been educated and having years of experience in hospitality, I was utterly disgusted and ashamed by the treatment from the staff. I visit Oswego, NY frequently, as well as several friends. I'll be sure to make them aware of how they will be condescendingly treated upon choosing this establishment.

Yelp
I just spent 3 nights at the Beacon hotel and it was lovely. The staff was friendly, attentive and helpful. The room was comfortable and charming. They offer a continental breakfast every morning. I highly recommend the Beacon Hotel!

Yelp
We had such a great experience. Room was very comfortable. Julie was amazing! We were in town for a fishing trip and were waking up on the earlier side. We greatly appreciated the breakfast being set up so early! Thank you again for a wonderful stay. We'll be back next year!

Yelp
I was in town for a night on business with SUNY Oswego and they recommended I stay here. It was wonderful. The room options were great and the price point very reasonable. The room and premises were very clean. The service was top notch and the hospitality was outstanding. The staff our genuine and thoughtful. It feels more like a bed and breakfast which is a nice switch up from a traditional hotel.

Yelp
We just left today and wish we could go back! We didn't feel like we were staying in a hotel but rather like we were staying with friends! The staff here is the best I have ever run into in any hotel. We had the room with the king sized bed and the jacuzzi and our friends had two queen beds. Both rooms were immaculate and beautiful. The beds were so comfortable with nice linens. The pastries with breakfast were fair but the coffee more than made up for it! Everyone that we saw was smiling. Here is not a better recommendation than that. I think that anyone who doesn't love this place must be the type of person who finds fault with everything and just likes to complain

Yelp
Cozy little place that I will definitely revisit in the future! I stayed in room #4 and it looked just like the pictures. WiFi didn't work while I was there but I slept like a rock and was there for only a night. I recommend if you're in town for a short visit and need a quiet little place to crash.

Yelp
A charming place to stay. Rooms nicely furnished with high ceilings and lounge area is a cozy place to relax. The host was friendly and gave us excellent recommendations for dinner and breakfast. Also very clean.

Yelp
I've stayed for the second time at the Beacon Hotel in Oswego. Most definitely the best hotel I've had the pleasure of staying in. Absolutely immaculate, you would think the hotel was brand new. Both the bed and pillows are more than comfortable. This is an historic building converted to a hotel. The lounging area is huge and is where a continental breakfast is served. You are asked to keep voices down as this is a small establishment with approximately 14 rooms but so quaint. Julie takes great care in seeing to it that all your needs are met. Unfortunately it books up fast being it is so small and in high demand. I was visiting my son at the university and will make a note to book early for any events. This hotel definitely made my visit worth the 6 hour drive. 5 stars

Yelp
A colleague and I came up for recruiting at the university. We were unfamiliar with the area and this hotel was the cheaper of the nicer options. We were very pleasantly surprised. So nice! It is clean, homey, but new feel. Lovely staff and a nice little continental breakfast in the am. I would definitely stay again and recommend!

Yelp
We loved staying at this hotel. It is very pleasantly decorated, it is very clean, they have very nice linens and towels. We will definitely stay here again. Loved the options of hardwood floors in our room instead of carpeting.

Yelp
I would give an A for effort because I think the staff certainly try hard to please. However, it is difficult to overlook the premises -- sort of a cross between a funeral home and a nursing home. I suppose much of that is beyond their control, but it was a little disconcerting. Our room was super small with two beds that were smaller than double, but a little larger than twin (we asked for a queen/king room) and in order to enter the room you had to go up three small stairs. There was barely room to put our suitcases and the bathroom was tiny. The stairs were not very wide, so you had to go on your tiptoe to walk down the stairs. Just don't wear heels and it will work.

Yelp
Rooms were small and beds were hard. There wasn't an iron in the room so had to go a distance to get one. Very old and quant but clean. Not the worse experience ever but not the best either.

Yelp
I was a little hesitant to book any hotel during my trip to Oswego to visit SUNY Oswego. I did a little research and was satisfied with all the positive reviews for the Beacon Hotel. I am so happy I decided to stay there. It was a wonderful experiance! The staff was wonderfully attentive and welcoming. The room was spotless and beautiful. The hotel itself is a historical building with vaulted ceilings and beautifully decorated. Thank you so much, I will stay here everytime I'm in Oswego.

Yelp
Home away from home feel. Super clean and I am very picky about where I stay. Fresh Bakery Danishes, muffins, donuts, juices etc in the morning. The coffee was so fantastic had to ask the front desk and found it it is a special blend made for the Beacon Hotel. Can't say enough, you won't be sorry! We will definitely be back.

Yelp
I brought my son and his friend for a hockey tournament and was looking for a hotel that was not the typical chains or motels. The Beacon was centrally located and a true hotel. A friendly staff eager to help us, extra towels for the post hockey showers, and the living room was great for pizza and watching football. It was extremely clean, it was quiet, and a chance to show my son that hotels can have character and great history. Thanks for a great stay.

Yelp
Stayed here when visiting family, wanted to try a non-branded hotel and really loved it. Great location and continental breakfast was a nice touch. Building was a knights of Columbus and they did a great job in converting. Rooms are nicely appointed and their lounge is perfect for working, eating, or chatting-love the hardwoods. Special recognition to Kyle upon check in. His level of service and attention were way beyond expectations. Will return again.

Yelp
Very nice and clean hotel. Breakfast was frozen pastries, yogurt and fruit, good enough. Next time I'll probably stay closer to the lake in a room with a view.

Howard D.

Yelp
4th time in a row staying that this truly "home away from home"....Hands down an outstanding hotel with great rooms and service! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Yelp
LOVE this hotel!!! Has character and charm of an old building, but with all of the renovations it is immaculately clean and very nice! I can't say enough about this place. I will always stay here when staying in Oswego

Andrea I.

Yelp
Great hotel! Very clean & staff was friendly! Continental breakfast was yummy! Nice location- walking distance to many bars and restaurants!

Yelp
The Beacon Hotel was exceptional!! Not only was the hotel beautiful and CLEAN. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We stayed three nights and felt like we were at home. It was so nice to be able to have coffee, tea etc. available 24 hours a day (and be fresh all the time). The bigger chain hotels should really take some lessons from them. I will recommend the Beacon to all friends and family!! Pat G. CT

Yelp
This is a small hotel in a converted building (once was Knights of Columbus). Furnishings appeared nearly new, facilities were clean and well maintained. There is a pleasant lobby area with large TV, coffee and tea (no coffee maker in room). The night clerk allowed us to use the washer and dryer in the basement, at no charge. But we were disappointed to find that our room was smaller than what appeared in the photo on Booking.com. Our reservation confirmation promised a "Queen Room" with fireplace, work desk, and seating area. There was no fireplace, and no "seating area" other than the chair at the desk. Half of the desk space was taken by a microwave oven. There was barely enough floor space to walk around the bed. That bed was festooned with 5 very large decorative throw pillows, but there was no place to put them when we wanted to sleep. We left them at the front desk. This was a very crowded room for two adults. When I mentioned this discrepancy to the night manager, her reaction was "sorry, we can't guarantee which room that you get", and blamed Booking.com for misleading us.
