"Bealach na Ba Bealach na Ba, or “Pass of the Cattle,” may be just a road, but it’s one of the most remarkable drives in all of Britain. Rivaling many a Swiss mountain pass, it winds its way from Lochcarron up 2,000 feet to the Bealach and Applecross, offering breathtaking views of Highland alpine crags, the Isle of Skye, and even the Outer Hebrides farther out to sea. Once you reach the top, there’s a parking area to the left, but take the trail up to the transmitter station for even more spectacular vistas. Don’t, however, attempt the drive in a camper or other large vehicle—the upper part of the road is one lane all the way to the top."

One of the finest drives in Scotland up the steep and winding road to the top of the valley. Not for the faint of heart with steep drops from the road and sections with no safety barrier. Great views from the top at the view point. A must do if you are doing the NC500 around the coast of Scotland.

If you want to see one of the most beautiful natural places in Scotland on the NC 500 then you have to visit here. It is awe inspiring and takes your breath away. I could have stayed all day just taking it all in. Another absolutely beautiful, amazing must see on your travels.

We did this road in a low suspension sports car. Most of the road surface was okay, some areas would benefit from new tarmac, some areas have already been done. Some passing points are larger than others. It was very tight in the smaller ones with campervan passing. The road is on the edge so can feel quite scary at times as a passenger or if not very comfortable driver. I wouldn't recommend taking the road in a campervan. The views are beautiful though. We saw some deer walking up to the top, right in front of us on a bend.

Newly resurfaced sections don't make this road any trickier, but it's well worth it, especially on a motorbike. Views at the top were spectacular, and if you go early in the day, or in the evening you can have one of the best roads in the country all to yourself.

I drove the road on a cloudy and windy day in June and the scenery was magical. The most beautiful sights can be seen from the road itself which is quite dangerous as it is a single track road with quite a lot of bends as well as slopes and a few hairpin bends. The passing places on the road are often bumpy and not very spacious but can easily fit a van or a car. However, driving on this road with a motorhome or a camper can become pretty dangerous and mostly annoying for other drivers. Luckily, there was nearly no traffic when I visited so I had the chance to take in the atmosphere of this panoramic setting. The viewing point itself has also a very beautiful view.

This I a road not for the faint hearted so if you are afraid of heights I would avoid 😂 but spectacular views, the road is very narrow at points that a car just fits on and some rough edging, did it 3 times whilst in applecross....
