Stopped in on a Tuesday evening around 7:00 PM and chose a seat at the bar. The atmosphere was relaxed and peaceful, perfect for unwinding after a long day. The staff was warm and welcoming, and the food and drinks were delicious. Can’t wait to come back!

Aubrey (our server) was dynamic, she was so bubbly full of personality, knowledgeable about the menu and each item she recommended was to die for! We started off with the Oyster Rockerfeller, then had the basket combo (fried shrimp, blackened flounder). The Naughty Georgia Peach was wonderful, it had the perfect citrus base and after only one I felt very mellow

Google
Best decision ever!!! Run don’t walk… I will be back! I got the trio on the appetizer menu to test the flavor as a first time experience… won me over for sure… I will say, as a person who’s never had shrimp and grits, I was hoping for 4 pieces but if they’re just scooping, then you get what you get plus I went for the cup not the bowl… all my fault… no need for adding spices when I got home, just scoop & score!!! I will be back and recommend it to all my friends and leaders on Ft Gordon!! My next meal will be a sit down so I can see what that bartender is working with😝🥸😎

Recently ate at Beamie's and had a great experience. The flounder and popcorn shrimp was delicious, and I was especially blown away with the loaded baked potato salad- so creamy and savory! The service was friendly and checked in frequently. I loved the atmosphere of the patio area, nice place for food and a drink.

Google
The drinks were amazing The oysters were amazing The chicken shrimp gumbo was amazing and the steamed shrimp was amazing. Everything about this restaurant in downtown Augusta's amazing little hole in the wall joint make you feel right at home comfort food the whole nine yards

Google
Really mid food during ‘happy hour’. Ordered 1 dozen oysters and they were nowhere as good compared to Rhinehart’s that’s in the same city. The oysters were hard to get off the shell and small by comparison. The crawfish 1 pound for $10 was also disappointing we ordered two plates and they all had their veins and weren’t cleaned well. I deveined each one by hand and they all had it… the drinks were okay for $5 each but overall for $67 after tax for that it was no worth my money. Honest folks for sure but they should revisit food prep and prices. Also outside area smells like a locker room.

Google
Really good. Food was excellent. The servers are hit and miss. There are some angry larger ladies there that are always pissed off. Avoid them. Overall it is a 👍

7/27/25 Upon arriving with a party of five, we were initially offered seating in the outdoor area. We requested a table inside, which required a brief wait. We were then seated in a corner, despite the availability of other tables. When we requested a larger table, one of the hostesses was rather abrupt. Fortunately, our hostess was able to accommodate our request. The photograph showcases the appetizers, which included oysters Rockefeller. For my entree, I selected the blackened fish, blackened scallops, and fried shrimp. Although the experience had its challenges, I was not particularly impressed and may not return in the future, should I find myself in the Augusta area again.

Yelp
Awesome "dive" bar feel to this place. Good service & the food did not disappoint. The Gumbo is an absolute must-have.......best I've ever tasted & my wife makes an awesome gumbo. Their "house" hot sauce goes great on everything, but unfortunately they don't sell it to-go. (If anyone knows who makes it for them, or a similar one, please hit me up on here)

Yelp
I ordered a few things to go, sat by the bar and watched a few plates come out, immediacy ordered more food. My steamed shrimp didn't make it out of the parking lot. Everything was so fresh and delicious. Well seasoned without being salty. Also - Chase and Kaylee were the gave top notch service. I'm from Charlotte, but I'll be back!

Yelp
Service was awesome the bartender Tom makes a mean grapefruit Paloma! I had the fried catfish basket which was the best catfish I've had in a very long time. My friend had the Beamie's sampler which was awesome. Highly recommend this place if you come to Augusta!
google avatar

Chantay C.

Yelp
Sometimes you have to take the fried food dive. I ordered the seafood platter with catfish which I requested to be extra crispy. They didn't disappoint. Oh, fyi it was my first time trying oysters. I only sampled one because they come with bacon which I don't eat and it was actually tasty. I'd definitely try again, minus the pork. Customer service was awesome our drinks were weak! But I'll be back.

Yelp
I had a wonderful experience here at Beamie's! This was my first visit to Augusta and I'm so happy I choose to have lunch here. DOZIER delivered great service he was friendly and checked on us often. We led with the Oyster Rockefeller, which was delicious! Some of the best I've ever had. I ordered the the Oyster and Shrimp basket with hush puppies, I could eat this everyday although my hush puppies were really hard they did have a good taste. I also ordered a side of grits, they were full of flavor. I really enjoyed my experience here and whenever I am in town I will come back here for all my seafood needs. Thanks for the great service DOZIER!

Yelp
We picked Beamie's at the River because of its reviews, that it was a casual seafood restaurant, and that it might be along the river. First off, Beamie's is not on the Savannah River, it is a few minutes' walk away. There is no view of the river at Beamie's. From the moment we entered, there was an awkward vibe from the folks who worked at Beamie's. They were always in a rush to move, but the strange thing is that nothing was rushed about order taking or bringing out the food. They weren't unfriendly, but they really didn't know how to interact comfortably. The food was mostly tasty, but we remember some of the dishes being oversalted. We each had a beer, seafood or fish, hushpuppies, green beans, grits, and rice. If you have an aversion to dogs, please know that Beamie's lets dogs (including big dogs) in their restaurant. If you're in a pinch, Beamie's could work, but we figure there are better options.

Yelp
The food is absolutely delicious! The atmosphere is great. The service is above Top Notch!

Yelp
I was highly disappointed because I love eating here but when I told the waitress that my shrimp were bad and tasted spoiled she took them to the kitchen and had them refried.

Yelp
Had a great solo dinner on new years eve there. Very friendly service and I tried a number of different dishes and the food was all great. Was quiet and clean and I liked the food options.

Yelp
I came to Beamie's with friends. I enjoyed myself! The food was great as well as the service. The prices are reasonable too. I had the basket with shrimp and catfish, and it was delicious! Overall a great place to get some seafood when you are downtown.

Yelp
So far so good. Everyone friendly. Nice riverfront atmosphere. Look forward to the Rockefeller and Fried shrimp.

Yelp
This was my first experience dining here. Was attending a conference at the Marriott and this was within walking distance from it. We were a party of 12 for lunch and were seated within 5 minutes. Our server Joy, was very sweet. She took our orders with a lot of patience and a smile on her face. I ordered the fried shrimp Po Boy sandwich with fries. It was absolutely delicious and I enjoyed every bite of it. The shrimp was a very good size and plenty of serving in the sandwich. Definitely going back again with my family. Everyone's food looked really good and everyone enjoyed it.

Yelp
Thoughoughly enjoyed dining here! The fried shrimp were fresh and delicious. We were traveling through Augusta with our two dogs and needed a place to eat that has a patio that allows dogs. We looked on the Bring Fido app and found Beamies.. They couldn't have been more accommodating. Good food, good service and very pet friendly! We will be back.

Yelp
Food was great, service was spectacular and given with a smile and a great sense of humor Only drawback was they were so busy there was a short wait

Yelp
Beamie's at the River is amazing! Do you wanna know why? Here's why: Food: The food was tasty, it was delicious seafood (as you might expect) that was cooked perfectly. I ordered the 1/2 lb basket of popcorn shrimp with a side of coleslaw. The popcorn shrimp was amazing! It was warm and tasty. The coleslaw was very good too (my father tried it and ordered extra because it was so good). 5/5 Service: The service was amazing. The staff were very quick. They were ready to wait on us when we needed to get refills, food, and the check. The staff were very sweet too! Overall, the service was amazing 5/5 Atmosphere: We were seated at a table beside some lovely fish. The place wasn't really loud, although it wasn't silent. Beamie's is very close to the river (as you might have guessed), and has a wonderful view of the stores! 5/5 Overall: Beamie's is a very good restaurant, that I rate 5/5 stars. Even though I am not a huge seafood person, I still love it. I would recommend you to visit Beamie's.

Yelp
Very disappointed that the Cajun dish of jambalaya was not even that. Instead it was black eye peas and rice. The gumbo was average at best. The service was great and they are very accommodating, and they have a lot of parking ng but I do not recommend the food, at least not those dishes.

Yelp
Talk about finding a needle in a haystack. I stumbled upon this place looking for a quick lunch near my work. Gumbo on the menu in Georgia? Yes, of course I am suspicious but I was also hungry. I do not say this lightly after living in New Orleans for years! Their Gumbo is the BOMB! So close to my family recipe that I am calling this place "My home away from home" from now on. Christie Westbrook took great care of this transplant. I will be back.... probably tomorrow. Btw I read the lower star reviews and all I can say is that if you didn't like their Gumbo? You DO NOT know your Gumbo.

Lisa C.

Yelp
We always get seated right away. Have a great variety of food and drinks. The food has always been great and very friendly staff. You can sit inside for a nice dinner or outside under the porch as a more casual setting.

Yelp
Stopped here for lunch while in the way to Alabama. Got there right as they opened and were seated with no wait. Place had a nice dive bar ish beach shack feel to it. Ordered the gumbo and my friend got the scallop sandwich. Both were very tasty and came out quickly. Overall a good stop!

Yelp
This was such a cute little place. The people were friendly and overall it was a good experience. You must try the Beamie's punch it was fantastic. While I wanted to love this place, I'll settle for like. The oyster Rockefeller was AMAZING! We thought we'd eat other things but really just ordered 3 dozen and that's all. For someone with a shrimp allergy the menu was somewhat limited because although the jambalaya and gumbo had me salivating, they had shrimp. They did offer the option to substitute shrimp in the shrimp and grits and a nice selection of po' boys. All in all, it was a vibe.
google avatar

Beth G.

Yelp
Quaint casual place-cool fish tank and seating in bar area for tv viewers. Service is ultra slow and it was a Friday at lunch. We ordered what we thought would be simple but it was not. Gumbo was thick gravy with no spice and tasted like it came out if a can. Cole slaw was good-tartar sauce taste like straight mayo, hush puppies sweet and ok, menu looked exciting and moderate prices-however not good.

Yelp
The building gives an old home town feel. Food was pretty good. Unfortunately the seafood and non seafood items are cooked in the same oil (making it difficult for seafood allergies). Grilled items were slim but we made it work. Service was prompt and food to table was pretty quick. Drinks were meh... Suggestion: call ahead if you have a larger party.

Chase S.

Yelp
The absolutely amazing oysters were incredibly fresh and flavorful, the exceptionally great patio service was prompt and attentive, and we absolutely loved the beautiful and inviting lighting.

Yelp
Had a midafternoon meal after sightseeing in the area. Got seated immediately. Waitress was a lovely pleasant person who knew her stuff. Had fried shrimp and fries with generous tartar sauce and shrimp sauce. Food came out quick and it was hot. Very good.

Yelp
Definitely not my first time, but I always go back for the Rockefeller oysters, my favorite. Everything is so fresh and delicious you won't be disappointed. However, today there was a 20% gratitude and my waitress was forgetful however, it was very busy so I can understand. Beautiful location we sat near the window and had a wonderful view of downtown Augusta. Looking forward to my next visit.
google avatar

Yelp
Okay, this is a short review because I just dropped in for a bite between appointments. Without much time, I wanted something quick. I got a cup of gumbo and an iced tea. While I really didn't expect much (gumbo is a VERY subjective thing), this bowl was excellent! I've only had one other that was better! Beamies is really kind of a dive with all the kitsch on the walls, but this bowl of gumbo has convinced me to come back later to try out other offerings.

Yelp
We ended our stay in Augusta and before we headed to the airport, we tried Beamie's out. So glad we did. My wife and I were staying downtown, and walked down the Riverwalk to get to this spot. I had the blackened shrimp over rice, with grits, hush puppies and coleslaw. I also dried two brews from Savanna River that were good as well. We sat by the bar and our waitress was so nice, welcoming and attentive. If you have time, swing through this spot, then walk up the street to see the James Brown mural!

Yelp
Amazing oysters. Super fresh, fun bar and when you mix the naughty Georgia peach with extra naughty, lock in. Place is great.

Yelp
Located across the street from the Augusta convention center. I have been to the restaurant a couple of times for lunch. This past weekend I had the opportunity to stop there to see if the weekend fared any different. The environment feels a bit dated. The decor at the bar and the entrance from the street remind you of a seafood tavern with its little bit of ocean decor. The fish tank that divides the bar from the dining room, is in need of some heavy cleaning and some freshwater to replace all the algae. The service was top-notch. I ordered the chicken tender, shrimp basket, and catfish. I notice the crowd growing as people were coming in for lunch. I cannot go wrong with morning suds and fried finger food. My co-workers and friends enjoy returning to the location for lunch, so I would recommend the food for the downtown location and price.

Yelp
Food was very good. Service was great as well. My fiancée said the Oysters Rockefeller has to be the best in the city.

Yelp
I stopped in here because the dinner I had purchased first was absolutely disgusting and inedible. I saw oyster bar and my eyes lit up! They have a free parking lot and I walked into the covered patio to sit inside. It is a really cute place and I really loved the environment. It was a seafood shack feel with downtown vines. There was only one server working so he was pretty busy. I asked him if the oysters were good and he said "oh yeah". I noticed everyone else was eating fried food and steamed items. It all looked amazing. I couldn't believe shrimp was only $13.00/pound but 6 oysters were $14.00. I also ordered a small house salad for $6.00. The salad came out immediately and it was a typical salad but I would have loved some onions. Then a food runner came out and brought my oysters. My server came over right away and looked down at the oysters the same time that I did and we both gasped. I have never saw anything like it. They looked like they had been sitting there for days and were stuck and dried to the shell. It was disgusting and he immediately took it away and said I will get you different ones. I cannot believe the kitchen or food runner would serve me that. I wanted to tell him not to worry about it cause I was terrified at this point. He brought some out right away. They didn't have the raw oyster from an oyster bar look. They were on a plate with big ice cubes and they didn't look that appealing. They served me crackers, horseradish, and cocktail sauce. The oysters were edible but not good. No flavor and no juice. Do NOT order raw oysters here! There were so many other things that looked good.

Yelp
If you're looking for a good server, come check out Brooklyn. She went above and beyond service. No complains at all.

Yelp
Beamies is a local haunt in Augusta. Great atmosphere and staff. I am not a big fan of the food, however, everyone else seems to enjoy. The drinks are really good. It's definitely a bar spot and somewhere to visit when in Augusta.

Yelp
December 2021 While visiting Augusta, I was craving seafood and found this place on yelp! Unfortunately it was a bit underwhelming. I ordered the oysters Rockefeller as an appetizer and a cup of gumbo as my main appetizer. The atmosphere is definitely welcoming and hometown favorite-ish. You can tell that locals love this place and I thought very familiar with each other. The hardwood walls and floors made me very comfortable. We sat near large windows overlooking the street. Parking was fine, they have a large lot with convenient access. My oysters Rockefeller didn't come out until after my other food was finished. The waitress came and let me know that the first batch didn't come out particularly right and they had to remake it. The second batch that they did deliver at the end of the meal had a horribly fishy smell as if it had turned BAD. Like sewage bad. I let the waitress know that I was not interested and she quickly removed it from the table and apologized. Later the manager let me know that sometimes when cooking the oysters things can change and that may have been what happened with mine. I did enjoy the gumbo, although I would say it wasn't as hot as I prefer. Service: 4/5 Prices: 4/5 Ambiance: 4/5 Taste/Textures: 3/5 Value: 3/5 Bottom Line : I'd give this hometown favorite another chance at a different time. Fresh seafood can be very finicky, but I don't want food poisoning or to get sick!

Bethany S.

Yelp
Food and service have been great every time we have visited. The oysters rockefeller is a favorite for us along with their oyster shooters. Shrimp platter is always a go to. The black-eyed pea jumbalaya is delicious as well.

Yelp
Catfish was good. Grits were alright. Love the ambience. Service was great. The decor was good too.

Yelp
How have I been in Augusta for so many years (including living in downtown) yet not experienced the magic that is Beamie's? All the signs are there; outdoor seating near the river, seafood, a great bar selection, and locally owned. Still there I was, over 12 years after moving here, pulling into the parking lot for the first time. Now let me be sure to clarify what type of seafood restaurant you are coming to. This is not the place for caviar on porcelain dishes and everyone is dressed up. Here you wear shorts and your favorite pair of flip flops, get your Long Island Iced Tea in a plastic cup and fried pickles in a plastic basket. And you'll love every bit of it. The team is like meeting a side of your family at a reunion, where you just met but you connect instantly. The atmosphere is so relaxed that between the food, drinks, and "hey y'all"'s you won't be in any hurry to leave. One of the many amazing aspects of their menu is the option of ordering baskets and entrees your way; grilled, fried or blackened. Now they have your usuals; sandwiches, burgers, oysters, crawfish, etc. But what you want to look for are the unique items like the black-eyed pea jambalaya, oyster shooters, and the low country shrimp salad wrap. Happy Hour is 3-7 pm daily so come early, stay late. I can't wait for my next experience at Beamie's!

Yelp
Went today for lunch with the family and was pleasantly surprised! The waitress was sweet and the food was hot and delicious! We had the blackeyed pea jambalaya, the oysters Rockefeller and a few other things and enjoyed it all. Thank you

Yelp
We stopped in Augusta returning from Charleston, just to break up the trip home. While I was disappointed in the Augusta waterfront as a whole, dinner at Beamie's was great! The prices were fair, the ambiance was casual, and the food was fresh and tasty. It was a highlight of the trip. They had cold beers available as well - some local, and some from Atlanta.

Yelp
Good food and fast service. Friendly waitress. Yummy seafood. Will definitely come back

Keith C.

Yelp
Came for happy hour. The food was good. Had the steamed shrimp and fried pickles. Very good. The drink specials were not good for mixed drinks. The service was horrible. Come for the food but, don't have expectations for good service.

R C.

Yelp
The service was excellent. I had the shrimp combo with cole slaw. The shrimp was fried firm, fresh, and moist.

Yelp
Scallops and Shrimp for dinner - delicious. Hayley service fast, accurate she made good suggestions based on my special dietary restrictions. Fun atmosphere, live fish in the beautiful clean tanks inside and lots of patio space. Parking on site m. Located across the street from the Marriott.

Yelp
Great experience at Beamie's at the River. Met family for dinner. We had went to another restaurant first and it was a 1 1/2 hr wait...went to Beamie's with 6 adults and 3 kiddos and were seated within 15 mins. Ordered a Long Island Iced Tea....made perfectly. For our meal the hubs and I split a combo plate of blackened catfish, blackened shrimp, a house salad, coleslaw and hushpuppies. I ate the catfish which was tender, flakey and seasoned well. I also ate the house salad. It had lettuce, cucumbers, tomatoes, croutons and cheese. The hubs ate the shrimp and the coleslaw. He wasn't quite full with the shrimp he got so he ordered another 8. He was very satisfied. The atmosphere is casual and the cost was reasonable for what we got. Our server, Alyssa, was fabulous given the chaos of 9 people...she was on top of everything...great job!

Tim S.

Yelp
While I love the catfish basket here I'll say the service can be sketchy. I sat at the bar and there wasn't any bartender. I waited over five minutes and flagged down a waiter asking for help. The young female bartender returned with a serious attitude trying to tell me her duties. Girl I dgaf! I ordered my beer and then she disappeared again. When I asked about my food someone else brought it out. Dumped it in front of me then split. Never saw anyone again Never hit my ketchup or tartar sauce. Unacceptable. Only reason I go now is that during lunch the bartender is appreciative. I'll never go at night again Guy next to me left. He was trying to lay his check for over 15 minutes. Do better

Yelp
We sat out on the back deck for lunch- so nice! Service was good food was excellent. We will definitely be back to try dinner menu.

Holly C.

Yelp
The fried and blackened shrimp and scallops were really good!! The service was good. Next time we will sit inside. The porch was a little loud, but it was still nice.

Stacy S.

Yelp
The food is frozen, then cooked, making it incredibly tough to eat. The waitress was friendly considering the working environment. I watched a good number of employees outside smoking, on cellphones, or cleaning rubber mats. I stopped by because it was highly recommended but not worth my time. Food is subpar

Ryan W.

Yelp
I came in on a Sunday afternoon looking for a place to try some seafood. They sat me down right away and my waitress came along shortly after. She was perfectly nice and attentive, refilling my water each time before I even noticed it was getting low. I ordered the Chicken and Shrimp gumbo bowl, which was a reasonable size for $10 and filling. In hindsight, I could've just ordered that and it would've been a perfectly filling lunch for walking along the riverwalk. I also ordered the Fried Catfish Basket. Being from the Midwest, I got some ranch with it, which was necessary as the fries were a little dry. The catfish was fairly good, not the most amazing I've had in my life but good enough for the price. Fell apart very easily in my mouth, not much chewing necessary. Will I come back? Yeah, probably. The gumbo was worth stopping by for if you just happen to be in the neighborhood. I'd have preferred a couple more pieces of shrimp, but you do get what you pay for.
