Bean Scene Coffee Works - This Location Closed

I was visiting the area for a couple of days and decided to venture out from the hotel in search of coffee. I'm so glad I did! I ordered their mocha, it was so well balanced. Great coffee flavour with a hint of chocolate topped with chocolate chunks and caramel on whipped cream. This was such a fantastic mocha, I loved getting sips with rich chocolate and sweet caramel. I applaud them for finding the best balance on a mocha like this, it could have easily been the world's sweetest coffee and I found it absolutely perfect. I also enjoyed their vegetarian breakfast wrap. It needed a bit of salt but I really enjoyed the creamy goat's cheese, spicy spinach and eggs combo. Served super hot and toasty! Their ginger molasses cookie was so good. I'm always scared I'll get a strong ginger throat burning cookie when ordering this cookie but theirs was perfect! It wasn't soapy tasting or too strong, the spice levels were really nice. Next time I'm in the area I'll be back here!!

We got the vegan and black bean wrap which was delicious. My husband really enjoyed the campfire cookie with his iced caramel latte. The rooftop patio has great vibes. We went around 9:30am on a Saturday and there was another couple up there. Super quiet and relaxing to have breakfast. This is our favourite spot to grab coffee and to relax.

What a great job of creating a unique and comfortable space. Good coffee. Good service. Excellent atmosphere. With an indoor balcony level and a rooftop patio this is a great place for a coffee break.

Stopped in here today on our way home. Very cozy coffee shop. I asked if I wanted to add a party to my mocha... Say yes if you have a sweet tooth! It was delicious! Pictured below... Whipped cream, caramel and chocolate sauce and some other yummy goodness. It's a small shop but perfect for a quick drink.

A lovely little spot to grab an Americano and head to the waterfront for a stroll. The espresso was bright and lively, the cream and sugar counter was in order with plenty of clean spoons available. The treats didn’t seem to be tantalizing enough to grab one but the peanut butter square almost got me.

Everything I could ever ask from a café. Stopped by on my cycling trip, staffs were welcoming and recommended me to try different restaurants in the area. Coffee was tasty and I enjoyed the awesome atmosphere!

Good coffee, friendly staff, and cute place! They have a nice mezzanine. Currently their rooftop is being renovated but once it is done hanging out at the rooftop would be awesome too.

Got the pumpkin latte this morning. Delicious. The place was clean and orderly inside Loved that they were open early at 7 a.m. ! Being undecided in what coffee I wanted, I had wished there was a physical drink menu. They had gluten free energy style cookie which was appreciated to see an option for gf folks !

Love the latte here. One of the best I've had in Kelowna yet! Latte was smooth. Artwork was spot on! Friendly staff. Cosy environment. I could sit here all day if i could!

Stopped by for coffee after lunch. It's not just coffee, they have pre-made burritos, pastries, and various desserts. Coffee was excellent. They have lot of seating area with electrical outlets. There is larger second floor and even a cute little back patio, but it was closed at the time.

I was charged $2.00 extra to get skim milk in my latte. When I questioned it I was told it was a milk upgrade. Phoned a couple days later to talk to the manager - no apology, just a very abrupt "it was a mistake" but that was very quickly followed up with "there's not even an option to do that" as if I was making it up. Have gone there for years but very disappointed with the reaction of the "manager" Perhaps my expectations are too high but I thought a gee, sorry about that, maybe even an offer to make it right might have been in order - not questioning whether it happened. Guess the Blenz across the street will get my business now.

Miss coming here for tea. Such a comfy vibe, such yummy baked goods. :( I absolutely adore their herbal tea selection and their walnut muffins. I also love how they have large tables to study/read at-- I miss the simple joy of working on my lab reports at a coffee shop! I simply cannot wait to give them my business again as soon as the pandemic ends.

Best americano I've had in Canada. I always get extra shots because I like my coffee strong. I probably didn't need to add the extra to this coffee because it was so flavourful. Not bitter, just lots of body with great crema. I would have given 5 stars but their pastry/baking options paled in comparison to other places. But I went there for the coffee, and they didn't disappoint!

Well, after reading all the reviews I am at a loss. The 2 Americano take-aways I ordered this morning were terrible. When I gave my wife hers I didn't say anything. Upon tasting it she said "Is there any coffee in this? It tastes like hot water!" This was exactly my take on it as well. It did look like coffee when you looked in the cup. Sorry now I didn't go back and tell them.

I love Bean Scene! Beats any coffee I think I've truly ever had (and I'm from Vancouver, coffee capital)... Every time I'm in the Okanagan I make an effort to go to Bean Scene for their gorgeous (in looks and taste) lattes or americanos. I also buy beans to bring home... maybe they'll consider expanding to Vancouver? Just sayin'! PS love the new location with roof top deck, it so retains its original location feel with more room.

it's a pretty good coffee place. sort of like peets. their mocha was pretty good. drip coffee wasn't too special. smooth coffee though

Nice and friendly coffee shop that offers milk substitutes. I got the oat milk latte and my boss got a regular latte. We're originally from Toronto and we still talk about how great it was to this day!

Just a coffee shop that I have coffee at almost everyday, but when you change your business hours but don't change them on google or bean scene's answer machine. Oh... I phoned multiple times since my time to come down here was already invested. Chances they picked up Incase it's maybe something important. Fail . Big fail. Will has to switch locations . Charlate wouldn't let that happen. #rookies

Probably the coolest coffee shop Ive been into in a long time. Great baked goods, tons of drink options and a very relaxed atmosphere. Definitely stop by with some friends for a nice place to chill out and enjoy some great coffee.

Wanted a nice coffee to kick off our vacation and lucked out with this place! With seating on two levels it had a warm and pleasant vibe. If the weather were more cooperative we'd be outside on the second floor patio. Latte is well made and the energy ball is delicious. The gentleman who took our order had the nicest demeanour and made me feel valued.

It's hard to eat out when on a very low carb diet but I can do it here! And the food is delicious.

Super friendly staff, nothing but praise from my group of 4. Food and drinks were delightful. Great vibes, definitely a cool hang out spot.

One of the best hot chocolate that I have had . my husband did have their latte . It was also tasty . We went on a Saturday evening , it was quiet and calm .

Great coffee! Headed here to do some work in the morning during the week one day, ended up surrounded by lots of noise and the place was packed! But put in headphones and all was good. The staff was friendly and there was a water dispenser available for you to get yourself some water. Overall a great place to get coffee and get some work done if you don't mind working with some noise.

This is a great little coffee shop with a fun, slightly hipsterish vibe. Located on the main strip in Kelowna's newly revamped downtown, it's something of an institution. The staff have always been super friendly and very helpful whenever I go in, and the drinks are great. I had a lemongrass, liquorice, ginger tea and Boyfriend had a peppermint; they were both super tasty and the staff were very happy to transfer my teabag to a to-go cup and fill it with more hot water when we left! The decor is super cute and rustic, with wood everywhere, and a selection of well-loved couches in the back. There's a slightly French vibe to the back area, enhanced by the giant Toulouse Lautrec-eqsue wall hangings. They have reusable cutlery, and water easily accessible for everyone - two super important things! Bean Scene is an adorable local spot and I definitely recommend it!

Much better choice to impress a casual date instead of the usual boring chain ones lol. Got a rustic feel, nice atmosphere. patio seating in front.

Awesome coffee and a nice roof top terrace. Service was good but also a bit stubborn. The do the cappuccino in the 'classic' size, so i wanted a bigger one. But that was not possible..

Skillfully-made espresso is let down by bland beans. There's too much syrup in the London Fogs. The Hipster vibe is poured on pretty thick: it reminds me of Stumptown more than JJ Bean. Big tables good for homework or groups. Cookies but no real food. Cheap!

I had the pleasure of visiting Kelowna for work and I was so excited to try as many local coffee spots as possible. This place is wonderful. I had a gusto latte, which they make with 3 shots of espresso! This might not be exciting news to some...but where I live, most lattes only come with two. Not only was my latte delicious (and pretty) but I decided to splurge and try the carrot, orange and cream cheese loaf, which was also wonderful. I was told they make different loaves each day, so I highly recommend giving it a try. I sincerely hope I return to Kelowna soon, and when I do, I'll be stopping here again.

My ride-or-die for the Cosmic Cookies. Great selection of local teas -- I recommend the Coconut Green and Market Spice Rooibos. Their crew is cool, funny and kind.

Visited this cafe today for the first time. Not impressed. No prices listed... That doesn't make sense. I couldn't figure out the theme here... Tattered couches, comic strips taped on the display case...They have a short selection of drinks, both hot and cold. A small selection of pastries, pre packaged soups and sandwiches are available. 2 small cappuccinos with almond milk were close to $9.00. A bit much for 2 short size drinks. In any case... There are a lot of other cafe's to check out in Kelowna... That maybe don't smell like they've been wiped down with a dirty cloth.

True coffee here ! Strong and smell so so good . Must try : traditional macchiato . A little cup can wake you up seriously :)

Love this place! Surprisingly busy late at night, but there is usually ample seating. They could add a few extra tables downstairs though. Overall the atmosphere is cozy, and the chai latte is one of the best I've had!

Just had drip coffee, which was good! Love the location, staff were really nice. The interior is funky full of people with their MacBooks; my kind of place. Nice little patio to hang out on.

Yummy espresso, and a morning glory type muffin. Can't really go wrong. Nice brick walls.. intresting space. Good place to hang your art if you want to do that. Also nice people :)

Came in for an americano. Got it fast and it is one of the best I've had flavour wise in ages. I really like moja coffee and this might be a bit better.

Best Chia latte I've had. The staff was extremely friendly and even told us how to go about buying the Chia tea my boyfriend had locally. We wanted to pick some up before we headed back to the states. It was very warm and cozy on a snowy day and a great way to spend about 30 minutes before heading off to eat lunch. Very enjoyable coffee shop. I almost didn't want to leave.

Best coffee downtown. The staff are hilarious. I like that it is not all corporate and stuffy. Just good coffee and not super pretentious. Cheers!!

A quaint little coffee shop downtown with great vibes! I love the staff because they're so energetic with their work. The shop itself isn't big, but has comfortable couches and tables for you to sit in. I do recommend coming on the weekdays since it's packed during the weekends. I ordered a large latte when I first came here, and the size was huge. Nevertheless the taste was amazing. Would definitely come here again.

A very cozy little coffee shop with great staff and great coffee. I wish they'd list their prices on the board as well... always experience a bit of sticker shock when taking friends there. Sitting with your coffee and just watching people come and go is a lot of fun... there's always someone up to something interesting in there.

The coffee is good. Could have been better if it was hotter though. The cup was rather small for its price. The atmosphere makes it a nice place to study or hang out. Although it can fill up at times.

Hand down the best hot chocolate in town! The mocha is also very nice. Cozy and relaxed decor. Somedays I could do without the hipster attitude but the quality of the beverages makes up for it.

Friendly staff. Clean and spacious. Cozy but still roomy. When passing through Kelowna this tends to be the fuelling stop.

Great granola bar and vegan cookie...there is a wide section if tea. Comfortable chairs to work or read and also good selection of quiche and coffee. Would recommend for an interesting out of the ordinary coffee stop that feels local. Good sunny patio seating available.

Best coffee I've had in Kelowna thus far. Baristas pour beautiful deep, dark espresso based beverages.

Giving this five stars as it was hands down one of the best cappuccino I have had this trip. That was all I had so cannot comment on other options but staff were friendly and efficient.

Say Goodbye to Tims & Starbucks, This cup of java is the bomb. Definitely stop here and Get your cup on the walk down to the beach.

Excellent macchiato! The perfect balance of espresso and steamed milk creating a drink better than the sum of its parts. The bright espresso comes through the rich milk beautifully. Rates as one of the best macchiatos I've had anywhere. Really. Staff are really friendly and efficient. Nice that they warm the cups prior to creating the drink. Neat mix of local and visiting customers. Drip coffee (medium roast Brazil) was fine. But what a macchiato!

Coffee was lovely and the scone was delish.... Staff wasnt the most friendly person I've met in other indie cafes tho :(

The vibe here is great, very laid back and very, very friendly. This is my go-to downtown coffee shop. I would definitely recommend this to everyone residing here, or just passing through, considering it's convenient location!

Probably the best coffee shop in kelowna. Single origin coffee, nice dudes workin there, nice art. I got the brazil. My brahs got some espresso. They loved it.

I wasn't going to bother reviewing until someone said it had been modernized into a Starbucks. Completely crazy review. Retro furniture, local artwork ( some good, some awful, mainly ok, amateur but fun) and maybe the best coffee in town if not exactly the best in the world. Nice laid back vibe and super friendly service.

This is what a local, tasty coffee shop is suppose to be. It smells like they serve coffee. Coffee is dark and wonderful. Muffins and pastries are delicious and priced accordingly. My Fav downtown. The other Bean Scene near The Landmark building is even better but parking is a nightmare

It has a nice homey feel to it and the staff are friendly. The coffee is good but the portion sizes are small. The reason why it isn't rated higher is their decision to not post their prices. How is anyone suppose to know what anything costs and it is annoying to have to ask the staff about each item's price. This is their biggest draw back and why I would not return.

Love this place. Delicious almond milk chai. good atmosphere for working or catching up with a friend. Vegan and/or gluten free friendly cookies/muffins available here too :)
