This Lake in the Western U.S. Is Called the ‘Caribbean of the Rockies’

"On the Idaho side, North Beach is a great, family‑friendly spot to spend a day paddling and swimming in the lake’s vibrantly colored shallows, with gradual slopes that make getting into the water easy." - Lydia Mansel Lydia Mansel Lydia Mansel is a writer with more than eight years of experience editing and writing for both brands and online publications—with a particular focus on travel, fashion, and lifestyle. Nice park, looks pretty new. Small, newly planted trees. Never went in the bathrooms, but it didn't look like they had showers. On lake, nobody there, but I imagine it'd be pretty congested when full, spots close together. Probably pretty hot in summer too. Close to beach. No stores or businesses on that side of the lake. 15ish miles from hwy 89. Lovely scenery.

Stunning Lake beautiful reflections get there early and make sure you get a time entry reservation short hike around the lake less than a mile plenty of spots to take great photos and take in the beauty of nature. Leave yourself enough time to take in additional hikes to Emerald Dream League absolutely worth every minute. I added a few photos of the other Lakes hope you enjoy

Great lake amazing color and soft sand, few rocks at first nothing bothersome, pretty crowded on 65° Saturday but plenty of room and parking. $14 isn't bad super shallow you can walk 100 yds out little to no drop off. Kids absolutely loved it water was a bit cold but doable. Bathrooms are clean and plenty of them. found the locals on the Utah side extremely friendly and courteous, not the same on the Idaho side. A bit more closed off and uppity.

Bear Lake state park is definitely a must go and memorable place to b. My family and I had a fantastic time. The water was warm and a little cold. And it wasn't that deep, which is great for the kids and it also has a nice sandy beach and a great location.

It's a 5 because I can't do like 4.5 but it doesn't deserve a 4. The reason for the 4.5 is that reviews say it's a super soft sandy beach and it's not there's a bunch of rocks all up in the sand 🫤 so without water shoes or flip flops it's rough on your feet. However that's the only thing I'd say is bad about it. If you pay online in advance there's a fee so in the end it's $21 per car if you pay at the gate it's $14.5 per car. They accept cash or card but when you arrive it may be unstaffed because they are patrolling. The staff here are very friendly and understanding, the beach is fairly clean. I picked up some trash that had been left behind but it was only 2 pieces I could find. The bathrooms are very clean and not smelly. And overall it was the best bear lake experience I could've given for my wife and son's first time there. Definitely worth the extra bucks!

Huge lake with breathtaking views. It's super busy on weekends. But there are plenty of space, parking and washrooms. $14 day entrance fee is not bad. the beach is very large. Water is very shallow until 100m. Morning or evening is the best time to enjoy.

Best beach at Bear Lake! It has soft, clean sand. It has shallow water areas for the kids to play in. It has boat access. It has it all. Buy your pass ahead of time because they will sell out!

Awesome lake. Great place to relax. We stayed in the ID state park but there are a lot of more camping options on the Utah side. Good restaurants somewhat nearby. About 25 minutes from where we stayed. Would be closer if you were camping in Utah.
