This Lake in the Western U.S. Is Called the ‘Caribbean of the Rockies’

"As a popular shore fishing spot on the Utah side, Bear Lake State Park Marina is recommended for anglers who want to try catching the lake’s native and endemic fish without going out on a boat." - Lydia Mansel Lydia Mansel Lydia Mansel is a writer with more than eight years of experience editing and writing for both brands and online publications—with a particular focus on travel, fashion, and lifestyle. It's a stunning spot with fantastic photo opportunities. The only thing I will say is that if you are allergic to bees dont stop here. lol . The amount of wasps, yellow jackets and bumble bees here were astonishing!!

We camp at Birch Campground right along the beach. It’s the most amazing lake you’ll ever experience! The water is so beautiful and blue! The sunset is incredibly amazing!

Beautiful Lake! Cannot wait to go back! Found this cool rock too 😎 kids ages 15,12,12 & 3 and both parents (in our 40s) lived it there!

My family had a blast going to this beach. The water color is incredible as it is so blue. We were shocked on how clear the water was and lack of fish and sea weed in the beach area. There are restrooms and showers on the property. Lots of people were renting water equipment, plus bring their own things. We were shocked on how cold the water was for the middle of July. Beautiful place to go!

Even with the winter, the lake is absolutely stunning. Worth driving past, especially after a big snow. The mountain drive into the area is beyond gorgeous. I would recommend anyone take the drive and do it at sunrise with clouds in the sky. You will not be disappointed.

Wonderful place, we were there for business just for a couple hours, but it was the most relaxing lunch I had in this trip. Highly recommended,

Love Bear Lake! Water can be cold at times but overall a great place to boat, swim or just sit back and relax. My family camps at rendezvous campsites which most lead right down to the beach. We also enjoy going into town and getting raspberry shakes as it has become somewhat of a tradition. I would recommend Bear Lakes to anyone.

Yelp
I did not get to spend much time here , but the water was crystal blue. It looks like a resort town and some places close after summer.

Yelp
I've live in Salt Lake City for 7 years and before this weekend had never been to Bear Lake! We camped at the South Eden Campground, which is on the other side of the lake and MUCH less populated. It's a dog friendly campground as well! This is a smaller campground, some family sites and group sites, and you have to book these sites way in advance. I think our party booked the sites in March of this year for the June camping trip. The weather this year has been unique, and we had the most beautiful, perfect weather this past weekend. The first night was almost a little too chilly, but the following day and night were perfect temperatures. Breezy, sunny, and perfect. The water is FREEZING cold! Some people in our group went in but dipping my toes in the water and sitting by the water and catching the lake breeze was enough for me. We saw some of the most beautiful sunsets and the water is the most stunning blue. The beaches at this campground are rocky, not sandy, so bring chairs instead of towels if you want to sit on the beach. One of our campsites was very shaded, but the other was completely exposed, so bringing some form of shade would be a must.

Yelp
I absolutely love Bear Lake. The Caribbean blue color of the water, the storms that roll through occasionally, the peacefulness in the morning. We have been coming here since I was little and will continue to come back. There is a house on the east side of the lake that resembles the shoe house from the nursery rhyme "there was an old woman who lived in a shoe". When we were little there was a huge boat made to look like Nessie, not sure if it still floats about. The cows about scared the beejesus out of me in the morning when I woke to the mooing. I always feel like I'm not in the Midwest anymore when I go. Please go you will not regret.

Yelp
Great marina for launching your boat. Fees are reasonable, just wish they sold weekly passes. Marina services are well maintained and the location is protected from the wind. We enjoyed launching our boat here

Yelp
Bear lake is sure pretty. We have spent many years visiting this amazing location. The water is brisk and tends to take your breath away initially. The blue color is just awe inspiring.

Yelp
A state park with full RV hook ups and clean bathrooms (including showers)? Yes please! Oh, and it's right on the beach. We lucked out by getting a last minute reservation and it's been a great time. Rendezvous Beach is pretty busy so we played there early in the day and then went paddleboarding on Cisco Beach. The campground is clean and well maintained.
