I've live in Salt Lake City for 7 years and before this weekend had never been to Bear Lake!
We camped at the South Eden Campground, which is on the other side of the lake and MUCH less populated. It's a dog friendly campground as well! This is a smaller campground, some family sites and group sites, and you have to book these sites way in advance. I think our party booked the sites in March of this year for the June camping trip.
The weather this year has been unique, and we had the most beautiful, perfect weather this past weekend. The first night was almost a little too chilly, but the following day and night were perfect temperatures. Breezy, sunny, and perfect.
The water is FREEZING cold! Some people in our group went in but dipping my toes in the water and sitting by the water and catching the lake breeze was enough for me.
We saw some of the most beautiful sunsets and the water is the most stunning blue.
The beaches at this campground are rocky, not sandy, so bring chairs instead of towels if you want to sit on the beach. One of our campsites was very shaded, but the other was completely exposed, so bringing some form of shade would be a must.
