We have been coming to Bear Mountain for a decade now and staying at the Overlook Lodge. It is a lovely lodge nestled in the mountain overlooking Hessian Lake. There is so much history in the area and beauty. The accommodations are basic, but for the price more than satisfactory. The staff is kind and helpful. We have seen it come through out of the pandemic and they have made improvements. We love it here and encourage people to support this iconic landmark.

Stayed here for a friend’s wedding. The bridal party rented out multiple cottages. The rooms were not great for the price. We had 2 disturbances in our common room from employees before 10am while getting ready. One of the cottages did not have heat the first night. It also snowed heavily overnight and none of the walkways were shoveled nor parking lots plowed. On the day of the wedding the bridal party needed to meet at the inn for pictures. Because of the nature of the weather I entered the parking lot a different way and not their designated entrance. I was chased down by a woman in a minivan telling me that I needed to turn around and go through the main entrance and pay for a parking pass if I was staying at the inn. I explain that I had already obtained a parking pass for the cottage that I was staying at and was only here to do pictures for the bridal party explaining that this was now holding me up and making me late, thus holding up the entire bridal party shoot. She made me go through the main entrance and when passing through the booth the worker asked for my room number which I did not know off the top off my head but I handed her my literal parking pass I had already obtained. After nearly 5 minutes of confusion and signing a list that was much too short for the amount of cars in that lot I was finally let through to park and run to take pictures. The entirety of the situation created much more stress and slowed down the process of the already time-strenuous wedding day.

My husband and I spent the weekend here . It was a close drive to NYC which is what we were looking for. Staff honestly left something to be desired but the surrounding area is beautiful. We spent The Weekend hiking in the state park, going to the trail side zoo, and exploring the surrounding towns. Rooms are comfortable and clean , very rustic. The views are amazing. The restaurant was yummy but service was so slow.

I have to write this review so people can know that this hotel is going dow n the drain. I've stayed many times in past years and what i experienced this year was terrible to say the least. We checked in late as Santa was leaving the hotel. 5 year old twins run upto to hug him and he start shouting he needs to go he's been working all day and has another appointment. My kids still believe in Santa. Get to the restaurant for dinner and wait 1 hour with hungry kids to get served. Food was decent. But they are understaffed. Go to our room at the Overlook Lodge late and the light bellow the microwave will not switch off. Tired so we sucked it up and slept with light on. Next day call front desk to inform them to fix it at 11.30am. Told it will be fixed. Leave room all day and come back at night and light still on. Call front desk irate and complain that its our second night and we cant sleep with light on, send a technician to fix it. Told be front desk its too late to do it, but if we want we can change room with toddlers in the middle of the night past their bedtime. We respond by saying absolutely not as its too late past their bedtime. Insist they send someone to fix it. Front desk clicks the phone on us. We call back and ask. Did you just click us? Front desk person responds "YES" and clicks us again! UNREAL.|Next day check out go and complain to the manager, he gets defensive and threatens to call the park rangers on my wife. Technitian is also there and says, but we service 24 hours a day why did no one call us? Manager looks puzzled. We laugh and leave telling them we are never coming back here again. Worst experience ever not to mention my kids dreams of Santa have been shattered forever. Stay away if you dont want to feel like your getting stiffed for your hard earned dollars. People who work here seem to not really like their jobs or care about customer service.

Stayed in the Overlook lodge on 2/15/25. Room was nice, people were nice. The hot water in the Overlook lodge was barely lukewarm. Was cold while taking a shower. You would think @250 a night there should be hot water. A few other minor maintenance items such as lights out etc... need attention.

The spa was worth the trip, but the stay overnight and dining experience were well below average. The room we stayed was very loud and didn’t allow for a restful nights sleep. The restaurant was uncomfortably cold and we needed to put our jackets on sitting by the fireplace. ||Food came out cool and needed to be sent back and reheated.

The stay was in an amazing location near West Point. Playing for the Christmas Eve/day brunches with assistance with management to associates was reassuring; all went well from set up to take down. Quiet room with a look over the lake - priceless. A memorable venue with great staff!

I was not sure what to expect based on some of the reviews but I was pleasantly surprised. The bed was super comfortable! Room was very clean, great location from the city. It was the perfect getaway for New Years. Very relaxing! Would highly recommend!
