Lovely little book store, only problem is it's TOO POPULAR! I loved the large selection of cards, really inspires a feeling of letter writing just because, not just on birthdays. I loved the displays of Vermont authors and/or books set in Vermont as well as regional books for people traveling through and want to know more about the area and cook books!! Cute stickers, games, puzzles and more! I wish I had room in my suitcase for that beautiful Van Gogh book box!!

Absolutely adorable bookstore housed in the same building as several other lovely shops and boutiques. The store is surprisingly large and has wide selection of fiction, non-fiction, children's and YA books. The staff are very friendly and happy to help you find what you are looking for. They also have a large collection of postcards and greeting cards from small or local artists!

Great little store with a good variety of adult and children's authors, both local and more famous authors. Even a decent section if graphic novels, and a lot of really cool greeting cards. In the same building with Mercantile and the Cafe.

Google
Modest and quaint bookstore. Happy to find it when we were vacationing in the Stowe area. I am conflicted as to the pricing because, the new reality is the prices and convenience of Amazon chance your experience at a brick and mortar retailer. That being said- I’d highly recommend stopping by and shopping locally while you’re in Town. There really is nothing better than buying a book on serendipity, rather than an algorithm: although there are merits to both. Happy shopping and reading!

Bear Pond Books is a fabulous bookshop in the heart of Stowe. There is just something so special about walking into a bookshop and picking out your next read. They also offer a lovely selection of coffee table books which make a wonderful gift + adorable trinkets, puzzles, cards from local Vermont artists and a huge selection of gift wrap. There is something for everyone at Bear Pond Books!

Excellent experience at the place! Second-largest independent bookstore in the State of Vermont lives up to its name and is quite friendly to all its visitors as well!

Google
A nice bookstore with a wide variety of books to choose from. Walkways in the store can be a bit tight, especially on a crowded day but it's still worth checking out. Prices are normal compared to other bookstores.

Yelp
A super cute and fun bookstore tucked away upstairs. There is a healthy selection of books about local Vermont history, as well as adorable greeting cards made by local artists. I could spend all day in this bookstore perusing the sections!

Yelp
Love this little bookstore. I always find something I want to read and they have an amazing variety of quality local artwork greeting cards. It's a favorite stop when we're in town.

Yelp
Every time we come to Stowe, I am excited to visit this bookstore. It has the feel of a place where you can wander and browse wiling the time away. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable about their inventory and obviously care about books. I appreciate that they are open late in the evening as it's great to stop in after a day of activities.

Yelp
2 reviews 6 minutes ago We came from out of town and wanted to browse the shops. We came to this book store and my Ten-Year-Old son was excited to get a couple of books (He loves to read)! Upon being greeted by the woman behind the counter, she more or less kicked us out for not wearing masks and said she was closing in a minute anyway. She proceeded to tell me that you're STILL not onto summer hours yet. I proceeded to let her know that I'm not from there so I wouldn't have known that. So she wasn't willing to ring us out real quick? You lost out on what would have been a good-sized sale. Furthermore, I saw you offered masks FOR SALE. Really? A global pandemic occurs and you're using it to gain a profit!? If you so sternly require masks in your store, so much that you'll refuse business over it, you should be giving them away for free, like City Market Co-ops in Burlington do! Because the whole state of VT is now operating on "masks recommended but not required." Also, healthy people don't need masks... especially when the woman at the counter is wearing one, combined with a plexiglass shield between her and I. WHAT IS GOING TO GET THROUGH THOSE TWO BARRIERS that you have to turn away business just because we chose to exercise our free right to choose not to wear a mask, because we enjoy breathing and we are in fact healthy. She was very, very rude. I will not be returning. I am highly supportive of local business instead of corporations, but this time I think we're better off going with Amazon. IT SAYS ON YOUR WEBSITE that masks are not required but preferred! I gave an extra star for the great selection.

Yelp
This place is the best bookstore in the area. The staff are incredibly nice, very helpful, and always smile when I walk in. They have a decent collection of Vermont books along with some very nice cards, both handmade and not. Their kids section is amazing and they have a large selection of recent novels. The science section is small, but they have the important books. My favorite part of the store is bookshelf right in the middle near the register that is "staff picks". I always find something interesting there.
