"With tasty specials available most days throughout the off-season months, the Bear Street Tavern has a loyal clientele of locals year-round, giving it a genuinely homey and down-to-earth ambience. The menu, however, consists of more than just regular pub fare. Try the gourmet pizzas, thin-crust pies served with chili-infused oil and honey—a combination so magical it will convert even the pickiest of eaters. The Wheeler Hut pizza, with wild mushrooms, pesto, and truffle oil, is also a favorite. On sunny days, snag a seat on the patio and be prepared to stay longer than you intended."

This place is really nice to have a lunch or dinner. I ordered Baked chicken wings and big bird pizza and I literally had best pizza of my entire life. It was so fresh and yummy that we ate 2 and packed 1 for dinner. I also loved their patio set up and they have those little heaters with fire on the table which kept us so warm on a chilly day. Me and my friends spent great time there. Our server was also really good and she had good recommendations for us sadly I don't remember her name now. But overall it was an amazing experience.

Google
Fun little spot with a laid-back, easygoing atmosphere — perfect for a casual lunch. The place has some history, having been featured on You Gotta Eat Here, though the pizza that made it famous is no longer on the menu. That said, both the pizza and salad we tried were delicious and didn’t disappoint. Service was friendly but a bit slow, likely due to being understaffed at the time. Overall, a solid stop in Banff if you're in the mood for good food and a relaxed vibe.

Google
Nice place for dinner. Pizza was very good, you can adapt your pizza just the way you like it. You only have one hour to spend when you are with 2, feels like a bit of pressure.

Google
Referred by a coworker to come try the pizzas and Mac and cheese, didn’t have the room for both but tried the Canadian and Hawaiian pizzas and were super delicious, would definitely make the trip here again. Drinks were on the slightly pricier side but not walking away unsatisfied. Our server Luke was a delight and one of the best servers I’ve recently had in a restaurant, his demeanour improved on an already relaxing atmosphere. Playlist was on point bringing a great nostalgic atmosphere. Cheers

Google
Bear Street Tavern is a great spot for a delicious and relaxed meal in Banff! We had the Caesar salad, bison pizza, and the chorizo and cheese pizza—everything was fresh, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, and the bartender was awesome, making the experience even better. Definitely a great place to stop for good food and great service! Highly recommend!

Google
Fantastic experience! Staff were very welcoming and accommodating. We showed up with a large group, and we're still able to get a table during their busy lunch hour. Waitress was amazing and gave great insights to their menu. Highly recommend the big bird or the bison. Their homemade chili sauce paired lovely with honey and topped your pizza with the right amount of flavor, even though the pizza was already delicious. Large selection of craft bear for the adults and a separate kids menu for the children. I will definitely be going back on my next visit to Banff.

This is a very busy place, and there is a good reason for it. The pizza is great. My 2 year old toddler asked to go here 3 days in a row, we did 2 days in a row it was that good. If you knew how picky the toddler is, it's a stellar review. They have a deal for 50% off pizza Sunday and Monday, for certain flavors. Our bill was about $45 including the tip we gave. I was first interested after hearing this location was featured on you gotta eat here. I recommend it though, you should try this place. For 3 people, $45, we left stuffed.

Google
Great pizza!! Love the bison one more! I had it with honey! + the salad is pretty good and refreshing. It’s a large bowl of salad great for sharing! Save some space for the dessert! It’s very delicious 🤤

Yelp
Great spot to relax and enjoy pizza! The Big Bird hit the spot! Loved the freshness and flavor of the pesto, chicken and bacon. Split it between two people. And I learned a new trick! Chili oil and honey as a dipping sauce for pizza! You've got to try it the way they do it. The staff was so nice and they were on top of their game with how busy it was. Great job! Restrooms were just outside the restaurant and were on the 1st or 2nd floor. Indoor and outdoor seating. I liked it inside because it was nice and cozy.

Yelp
This pizza place was recommended by our tour guide, Vincent. He said they make good wood fire pizzas and that their house made chili sauce was good on everything. It sounded good so we stopped in for dinner. The restaurant was located at the heart of the downtown Banff and was in front of a small parking lot. There was a public fire pit nearby and the fire looked cozy. We opted to sit outside, since it wasn't too cold yet and we wanted to enjoy the downtown scenery. Our server took our order and delivered our food quickly, which was much appreciated. We ordered a summer salad, chicken wings and two pizzas to share between 3 people. It was more than enough food. The wings were good, but we enjoyed the summer salad and the margarita pizza more. The summer salad was packed with fresh vegetables, peaches and candied pecans. The pizza had a wood fire crispy crust but yet the pizza was still tender and soft. Out of the two pizzas we ordered, we preferred the Margarita to the maple syrup infused Canadian pizza. We enjoyed dipping slices into the honey & infused secret chili oil. Vincent was right, it really was good with everything. Overall, we think Bear Street Tavern has the best pizza in Banff town and would recommend it.

Yelp
We were surprised to see that almost every restaurant in Banff has pizza on the menu but luckily enough the first restaurant we ate at happened to be the best pizza spot in town. We were in love with the honey and chili oil they serve with the pizza and it just really was dang good pizza. We were told multiple times after we ate there that they have the best pizza in town. They also have a decent wine list and the beers looked awesome too!! Our server was awesome and all the staff were really friendly. One of our favorite spots by far !!!

Yelp
Sunday happy hour for that 50% off pizzas! It almost doesn't matter which half off pizza you choose because it's all so cheap! Wheeler Hut: Get!! I loved this one so much as the crispy pizza crust combined with the juicy mushrooms is like a match made in heaven. Big Bird: Maybe? Not sure if it was just this pizza but it was a lot softer and the crust more flaccid. It was still enjoyable but I preferred the above pizza way more. Something I didn't know was also the honey+chili oil combo which blew my mind.... make sure to ask for this if they don't already give it to you. $10 steins are also amazing (it's two pints basically) but you really have to commit to drinking that much. Our server was super super friendly and fun so that just made dinner so much better too. Food: 8/10 Service: 8/10 Atmosphere: 7/10 Value: 10/10

Yelp
Relaxed restaurant with bar favorites. Came here for dinner and made a last minute reservation online. Bar seating and tables available. Service was very friendly. Credit cards accepted. Restrooms were available outside of the restaurant and are single occupant. We shared a Canadian pizza which came with maple syrup for the sauce as well as wings. The wings tasted healthier than your average bar and were very flavorful. The pizza was good, although some may find putting maple syrup on it a bit off putting. Full bar available. It is good for big groups and kids. Overall atmosphere is chill and casual.

Yelp
Great spot on Bear Street! They have a second patio out back is which is quiet and lovely. We had some drinks and shared a margarita pizza (sourdough crust!). Server was super nice and friendly. Patio is very dog friendly!

Yelp
Arriving in Banff, my expectations for food weren't high, but this place pleasantly surprised me. We opted for the wheeler hut pizza and viva la pizza (half with no sausage). If you're a fan of mushroom pizza, the wheeler hut pizza is a must-try! A delightful touch was their provision of chili oil and honey. A tip worth noting: mix the chili oil and honey to create a dipping sauce that adds an incredible flavor dimension. Trust me, you'll appreciate this tip later. To cap off the night, we indulged in a salted caramel brownie, beautifully presented on a small skillet.

Yelp
Cannot say how disappointing this experience was. Our waitress never came until 30 minutes after our order was placed with someone else, never introduced herself, and then dumped my dirty plate contents onto my pants after three attempts to get her attention. The nachos had unmelted cheese and $7 for a 1oz guac cup is outrageous. Such a shame, as the host staff was so lovely.
google avatar

Caroline N.

Yelp
Visited the tavern on a Sunday afternoon and my family and I chose to sit outside on their very nice patio. This tavern is known for their pizzas and I see why! The waitress provided excellent service and went out of her way to make sure that the dip I ordered was vegan. I ordered the Mediterranean pizza which had a v+ option replacing the vegan cheese. It was amazing! Seriously that's the best vegan pizza I've had in a while. I liked that the menu was very vegan friendly providing v+ options for other items on the menu as well. I also ordered a mint mojito kombucha which was really good! Please visit if you're in the area. Definitely worth it!

Yelp
Went here on a whim after a long hike and was very happy with our meal. The honey and rosemary infused chili oil that they give you to dip your pizza/crust into was arguably my favorite part of the meal, and they were just the free sauces! Minus one star because I wasn't in love with my pizza, the pesto sauce wasn't my favorite (kinda tasted like some sort of green sauce, not a pesto), but anything smothered in that oil and honey sauce combo was still winning. Would recommend!

Yelp
This was my favorite meal in Banff, and we tried some "highly recommended" places that were awful. The service was great, the food was delicious. We had the Godfather pizza and really enjoyed it especially with the honey and chili sauce to dip the crust into. The summer salad was delicious too with peaches, mint, arugula and candied pecans. I would definitely come back on a future trip. Prices were a good value. The ambiance outside was really pretty!

Yelp
Simply OUTSTANDING!! A new experience. They brought to us honey and a Rosemary Infused / Chile Oil. I was shocked at first, but decided to give this Canadian adventure a try. WOW! It was so good to be able to dip our pizza in that really tasty sauce. However, lets get to the star....the PIZZA! When we were done, my wife stated that "this was the best pizza I have ever had". I will say it is in my Top 3, which is huge since I have had many great pizza's in NYC, Chicago and LA and other great pizza towns. This pizza was incredible. The dough is what made it for me, but the cheese and toppings were very good. Not greasy and cooked to perfection. This place is in a cool location and has a great vibe. The people are super nice and really care about your experience. We could not have had a better pizza and a better experience. AWESOME!!

Yelp
Came by on a Sunday afternoon for a round of drinks and a light bite. We ordered a margherita pizza ($23.50) to share, plus the 'Jam Rock' blackberry sour (The Establishment) and "What the Huck' Huckleberry Ale (Fernie Brewing Co.) among other drinks. The pizza was below average, and while the drinks were good, everything was quite expensive... $15 for a pint that wasn't even on draft. Our server was very nice and knowledgeable about all the beers.

Yelp
So glad we chose this place for lunch, the pizzas and nachos were good! We had late lunch but the place was still crowded, luckily we only had to wait a few minutes for a table to get cleaned before we got seated. We ordered Pulled Pork Nachos, The Canadian, and Big Bird. Pretty big servings, we weren't able to finish both the pizzas. The pulled pork nachos came with guacamole, sour cream, and some salsa. We both killed it, was that good! Definitely would get it again. The Canadian was yummy too, my husband thought it was a bit too sweet but I thought it had the perfect balance. With the pepperoni being salty, the maple syrup makes the overall pizza flavorful. The Big Bird was okay, had a strong taste of goat cheese which I liked. My husband thought it was "too green" lol. The crust of the pizza was thin and light. Service wasn't bad, we'd definitely recommend coming here if you're in Banff. We'll be back!

Yelp
Had read some pretty good reviews on this place so had to give it a try while staying in Banff. Wasn't as impressed as I thought I would be, but that was mostly because the pizza sauce reminded me of pizza hut, which is one of my least favorite pizza chain restaurants. Aside from the underwhelming sauce the pizza was pretty good, it was loaded with cheese and I liked that they had honey on the table, it was the perfect sweetness to add some more balance to the pie. They also had. a chili oil that wasn't too spicy. We planned to order a salad and pizza for two of us to share, unfortunately there had been an issue with salad fridge the night before so there were no salads available that day. We still ended up sharing a pizza, we opted for the Godfather and substituted the prosciutto with chicken. We ended up sitting on the back patio, it was pretty quiet since the area was in a little shopping square. Very relaxing. Came on a Wednesday evening in the summer and had just over a 30 minute wait. Once our group was called I actually heard the hostess say they weren't taking any more people on the waitlist for a while, so get there early if you want to dine here in the summer.

J M.

Yelp
Would be 5 stars but Im not a big fan of folks' dogs arguing while i try to enjoy my meal and beer. Otherwise, this place is great. The Canadian pizza was awesome and the BAB beers were equally great. Service was great too. Will definitely go back.

Yelp
I recently had the pleasure of dining at Bear Street Tavern, a pizza place in Banff, and I must say, it exceeded my expectations in many ways. To begin with, the service was exceptional. We were promptly seated upon arrival, and the attentive staff took care of us throughout the meal. Their attentiveness and friendly demeanor added to the overall positive experience. Now, let's talk about the food. The Caesar salad with chicken caught my attention with its generous portion size, but unfortunately, the flavor fell a bit flat. It was slightly bland, and I would have appreciated more seasoning or a bolder dressing to enhance the overall taste. However, the pizza stole the show. The Three Pigs pizza was an absolute delight. The combination of flavors from the various types of pork toppings created a harmonious and mouthwatering experience. Each bite was packed with deliciousness, and I found myself savoring every moment. But the real revelation came in the form of the honey and spicy oil dip that they bring to the table. Initially hesitant, I soon discovered that this secret ingredient took the pizza to a whole new level. The balance of sweetness and spiciness was perfect, adding a unique and unforgettable touch. Now that I'm back home, I find myself craving this exceptional dip, as it has become an essential part of my pizza experience.

Yelp
This pizza was out of this world!! Loved the honey and chili dip. The flavors in this viva La pizza knocked our socks off. One of our fav meals in Banff, and we weren't even in a pizza mood. We're not huge pizza eaters, but this is not to miss! I liked it so much I realized I posted twice
google avatar

Yelp
This was the best meal we had in Banff and NOT overpriced. We had the pulled pork nachos, pizza and Caesar salad and all were excellent. They actually have separate patio for dogs with a dog menu. Cmon that has to be a 5/5. Check it out.
google avatar

Sandra K.

Yelp
We came here twice while in Banff. The overall pizza was excellent. They had a good selection of pizzas. The crust on the pizza was light and airy. The presentation of the pizzas looked really appetizing. Our children are allergic to dairy cheese, they had a coconut base vegan cheese option that worked out well. If we lived here, we'd be regulars!

Yelp
We had an excellent time at Bear Street Tavern while in downtown Banff. We wanted to grab some food to eat and this is one of the few places that is open between 3-5pm and has an outdoor patio for pups. It was great because there was an overhang and we didn't get soaked when a storm rolled through. We started off with some beer and I got a flight so I could try a bit of everything. My favorites were the IPA, pale ale and sour. I'm not into fruit beers as much these days so the mango ale wasn't my favorite. We got cauliflower as an app and it was DELICIOUS! It was a large plate for two and the flavors were delicious. The sauce was flavorful and unexpected. (5/5) The million dollar onion side was good, we weren't sure what to expect! (Weather it was a blooming onion or something like that). It ended up being almost a whole onion in a delicious cheese sauce with some fried onion toppings included! It was a little bit too much cheese sauce (4/5) Fish and chips with waffle fries were very good! The batter was airy and crispy. The texture was different in that it wasn't greasy or a hard fry. These pieces of cod were also very large. Waffle fries were spot on (5/5) The salmon was grilled perfectly and the skin was seared perfectly. It was delicious and seasoned well. The greens were tasty and sauced as well as the grilled seasonal vegetables. (5/5)

Yelp
Their gluten free pizza crust is excellent! We had the Mediterranean and Margherita pizzas. The Buddha bowl and beet salad were delicious as well. Our server was super friendly and helpful with giving menu recommendations. Kids were hungry since we were having a late lunch due to a morning full of hikes and they were understanding and accommodated our order quickly. Cute patio seating on a quiet side street.
google avatar

Yelp
Godfather Pizza: Lots of arugula, garlic and olives. Our waitress recommended us to mix up a spicy honey as dip for the crust and it was great for dipping the pizza as well. Caesar salad: best Caesar salad I've had. It had super fresh romaine lettuce, very crunchy and juicy and the croutons were extra crunchy as well. It came in a very big bowl and my husband and I demolished it.
google avatar

Lisa M.

Yelp
This place surprised us! As a gluten free person, so many times I read reviews of people who say "this was the best GF crust" only for me to go and it be disgusting. I have traveled across the US and to 5 different countries and this is probably one of my top gluten free hand tossed/thinner crust pizza. The crust is nice and soft in the center of the pizza with a crispy (not like a cracker) outer crust. They also have vegan cheese that was really good. Everything just had great flavor: the red sauce, toppings (pepperoni was so good). We ordered to go one night and dined in another. They also serve the pizza with this AWESOME chili oil and honey. My husband ordered the Canadian (pepperoni, bacon, mushrooms and honey drizzle) on gluten free and I ordered the double double with vegan cheese (double pepperoni, double cheese). We ate outside on what I think is the prettiest street in Banff--Bear Street. Beautiful view of the mountains

Yelp
We stumbled upon this place when we were trying to go next door to the vegan friendly restaurant, Nourish and to our dismal it was closed and I was sad. Well in all fairness, it was Christmas so I don't blame the restaurant to have been closed and for Google to give us incorrect info. As we were walking back, we saw this place, looked at the menu and they said they have vegan cheese and could make most dishes vegan - I was sold! When we walked in- luckily there wasn't any wait - I loved the vibe immediately! It does give away that tavern kinda vibe with most tables drinking beer in a stein. (It was bigger than my face. ) We ordered garlic fingers, stein of beer and Mediterranean pizza. Everything was absolutely so delicious. But what sets this place apart is the staff. They were awesome, they talked to us, spent a few mins asking about our trip, made recommendations for what people generally like at the restaurant etc. I will most certainly go back here if I'm ever in Banff. P.S when we asked, they said the wait is generally 2hr long in summers - plan accordingly :)

Yelp
LOVED the food, the beer, and the ambiance!!! Highly recommend!! Definitely a brewery vibe which is perfect for us!!

Yelp
Friendly staff! Great lunch spot. Awesome beer selection, had some favorites from local Three Bears Brewery! Pizza is out if this world, the honey and chili oil dipping sauce we were so happy we tried it!

Yelp
Very special pizza with the Truffle oil smell. Besides a little bit oily is really good, crust is crunch and soft inside! Pre-ordered online can pick up in 15 min.

Yelp
Plenty of outdoor space, we had the steak lettuce wraps and a fried chicken sandwich and a sampling of their beers. Dog friendly and staff was friendly.

Yelp
Delicious food and friendly service! This is in the heart of Banff. Great lunch spot during a day of shopping. The Tokyo drift ipa was great!

Yelp
I had a GREAT experience here with my family of four tonight. Server was incredibly kind, food was fantastic. Highly recommend to anyone visiting Banff!

Yelp
BEST PIZZA IVE EVER HAD!!! still craving this yummy perfectly crispy yet chewy crust. Worth the money!

Yelp
If I could give this place 6 stars I would! I visited 3 years ago, and have been wanting to go back ever since. I finally made it this week, and it lived up to what I remembered. We started with the spinach dip which was delicious, as well as a few nice cocktails made with local spirits. The service was really friendly, and the staff checked on us regularly throughout the meal. But the real star of the show is the pizza. The Godfather was good but the one I came back for was the Big Bird- it is one of the best pizzas I've ever had. And the honey and rosemary infused chili oil they have on the side make it even better. This is a must stop for a delicious and casual dinner in Banff! Pro tip- take your leftovers home, they make a great hiking snack the next day!

Theresa H.

Yelp
Food and service was very good. The restaurant was a little warm but overall it was a nice place to hang out

Yelp
Bear Street Tavern deserves the honourable mention as the 'must try pub' while in Banff! Sit indoors or outdoors on the street patio & view scenic Bear Street & people watch while you chow down. Or you can sit out at the back courtyard for semi privacy. Two menu items right off the bat you must get - The Wheeler Hut pizza & the Citrus & Beets salad!!! Don't forget to drizzle some honey & chilli oil (it's not hot) all over the pizza! If you're feeling brave enough - top it off with some chilli sprinkles!!! Your pizza will become even more amazing!!! Truly one of the best pizzas I've ever had!!! Whatever secret dressing is on the C & B salad, it's absolutely mouth watering! The whole mix of slow-roasted beets, arugula blend, orange, dill, pistachio, goats cheese & orange lemon vinaigrette is 100% on point! Mangiare!

Yelp
Let me start by saying this is the only establishment we made sure to dine at a 2nd time during our 5 days in Banff. It was our first and last meal there. We REALLY enjoyed the winter salad. Both pizzas we had were fantastic. The star of the show is the house made chili oil and honey offered for dipping/drizzling. I seriously need to find a way to make the chili oil at home. Truly special and unlike anything I've ever had. Make reservations for dinner- this place was hopping and many were waiting when we arrived. At lunch time it wasn't too busy and we easily got a table to watch a World Cup game while enjoying our pizza and salad. The servers who helped us were both great. My husband really enjoyed a kombucha and cider from the bar. Whenever we return to Banff, this will again be our first meal.

Brooke H.

Yelp
Great pizza and salad selections. Nice outside or in door seating. Off the busy main Banff Ave.
google avatar

Brooks W.

Yelp
This was probably our favorite pizza in Banff! Reservations: You NEED a reservation here. They are so busy that if you just walk in they will probably tell you they don't have the room. So do yourself a favor and pull up OpenTable now to book you a table. Food: Beer - great selection of beer from allover the place. Caesar Salad - really good with plenty to share. They brought a big bowl of salad with a few plates for us to split it. Pizza - your "must get" is any of the pizzas. But specifically, you MUST try it with the chili oil and honey that they provide. That was the true game changer. Overall: I'd tell anyone going to Banff to come here. This was one of our favorite meals all trip (and pretty decent value for what you get).

Yelp
When planning for our trip to Banff, my sister & I looked up the best place to get Pizza & Bear Steer Tavern was at the number one spot! We checked it out & we're not at all disappointed! If you want amazing pizza, this is the spot for you! Bear Street Tavern is the perfect place to have dinner, drinks, & watch a hockey game with the girls, boys, family dinner, & even date night! It's dimly lit, comfy, sports bar vibe is the perfect place to enjoy a winter evening! I ordered the Bianca pizza & added roasted garlic, best pizza I've ever eaten! 1000% My sister ordered their regular pizza & she loved it! We both ordered Shafts to drink (my new favorite Canadian beverage of choice) Delicious! Our server was fantastic, he was upbeat, energetic, prompt, & friendly! He made sure that we had everything we needed & that we were comfortable at all times! You need to come here, no questions asked! Just make sure you have reservations because this place is popular & for very great reasons! Good food, good people, good atmosphere! You won't be sorry! Cheers!

Yelp
Great pizza selections. Be sure to use the chili oil and honey as suggested. Attentive and friendly servers. Outdoor space is pleasant.
google avatar

Yelp
Went here off of a local's recommendation and it did not disappoint! Would recommend a reservation, as they are pretty busy, but they have a quick turnaround! We sat inside, but they also had a beautiful outside patio! We had the Viva La Pizza and a few drinks. The pizza was amazing! 8 slices for 2 people was just right! The highlight of this meal-the honey and chili and rosemary infused oil that they give you to dip the crust in! SO GOOD! I will definetly be recreating this recipe at home from now on for my pizzas!

Yelp
Love, love, loved this place. The brewery we wanted to go to was closed so we ended up at Bear Street Tavern and I'm so glad we did. Excellent beer options with tons of local brewer options. They also have an excellent menu with lots of options, although they are known for their pizza. They had decent choices for vegetarians and I had a Mediterranean pizza while my husband had one with pork and pineapple. They were delicious and I loved the different dipping sauces they had for the crust. It was definitely unique. Service was great and I would definitely visit again if I was in the area.

Yelp
This place is just phenomenal. The service, the food, the beers. I'm so glad we found this place. We had the beets and citrus salad and the viva la pizza. The salad was amazing. I dont think Ive had a better salad. The pizza was good as well, but their signature sauce was the star of the show! We'll definitely be back!

Yelp
Great place to catch a game in Banff! Highly recommend. Wait staff was friendly and TVs everywhere make for a fun sports night.

Yelp
Hidden in jammin Palm Harbor. With a Great drink menu. Too bad it's a bit hard to find. Had to suffer with a crappy drink at another bar before I found this one hidden in the back.
google avatar

Jasper D.

Yelp
Absolutely fantastic. Amazing everywhere from the drinks to the pizza. We started out with chips and a cheesy dip that was fantastic and presented really well. They had a wide variety of drinks and all 4 my family got were outstanding. The salad was good and was perfectly light for after a hike. The pizza was then fantastic, with a perfect amount of cheese and not to big of a crust. Our server was very kind and we got most of our food within 10 minutes. They also had a fun bonus of a signed Man United kit from 2010/11. If you are looking for something for after a hike, or a nice dinner after a calm day this is a go-to place.

Yelp
Great atmosphere and cheerful staff. The beers are brewed in sure which is fun, especially if you like trying new brews. However. The portions for the cauliflower and chicken wings appetizers, Althing tasty, were very disappointing. Not enough to share and costly. Pizzas ok, could have stranded a few more minutes in the oven. I have hopes this place will get better with time.good for drinks
