Couldn't find anywhere to eat on a Sunday afternoon. Went by Murphy's and they were booked up and a kind gentleman working there sent us to Beara Coast Hotel. Wow what a great experience. Our waiter Oliver was far beyond great. Knowledgeable, professional and friendly. Food was amazing and pricing was quite good as well.

Lovely hotel in a lovely part of the country. Extremely peaceful and laid back with lovely views and only a short walk down to the town. Dined in the bar and both the dinner and the breakfasts were beautiful and, as is the norm for west Cork, everyone working in the hotel (and everyone we met in the area) were extremely friendly. Would highly recommend.

We just wanted a coffee which was served at the table where we were seated. On seeing the person we wanted to see we entered the restaurant, it was packed full even though there were numerous tables ( a good sign). We only could say a few words to our friend as he was needed as the staff was very busy. The impression given 'somewhere well worth a return visit.'

Went there today with my mother and aunt for an afternoon drink. The staff were so friendly and welcoming. One of the bar staff brought the drinks outside for me where we were sitting. First time here but def not my last. A beautiful bright welcoming reception.. Worth a visit

Went to the Beara Coast Hotel on Wednesday last ,four adults and a baby ,sat outside as it was a beautiful day,I ordered a chicken salad salad sandwich ,but was told as it wasn't on the menu ,they couldn't do it ,so I opted for a portion of chips and brown bread. I shared the bread and when we " broke " the bread ,we discovered what looked like cobwebs growing inside !!! The main reason why I'm writing this review is not to complain about the food ,when I went to pay for the drinks ,I found our waitress in tears ,I have worked with this young lady before ,she's a lovely girl and a super worker ,but because we complained ,some bully in the kitchen took it out on her !Absolutely shocking treatment of staff Couldn't recommend this place !!

Newly re-opened so, some beginners hiccups. Breakfast was a disappointment both mornings. Cold toast, poor full irish, burned pancakes, no syrup or lemon - a bare (could hardly taste) drizzle of honey. Poached eggs were nice. No pastries or scones or home made breads. Did have a nice deep fried brie for lunch. Great location, nice room with a view. Dogs allowed- fantastic.

From reception to end it was fabulous. The food was so good and the portions where big. Made my lonely work trip alot better. I love when you arrive at a hotel and they have bottles of water in a room, small things i know but that's what makes the difference.

I didn't stay at this hotel but stopped with 2 friends for a quick lunch. It looks beautiful on the inside with some great modern painting hanging on the walls. The best thing about it was the food. Amazing chowder and fantastic chalamari.

Yelp
The Beara Coast Hotel is situated in an absolutely gorgeous location looking out on the harbour and famous fishing port of Castletownbere. It was originally called 'Cametringane Hotel' way back in the late 70's and 80's, (in fact I had my wedding reception there all of 36 years ago!) has had a number of owners since, was closed completely for the past number of years and, as a result became totally run down. However, on a recent visit to Beara, I was pleasantly surprised to see that it has now reopened under new management with a badly needed complete refurbishment and upgrade. There is still some work to be done on the surrounding grounds and pathways etc but I must say the work done to date on the interior is wonderful and modern while still retaining subtle hints of the 'old style'. We enjoyed a very pleasant lunch in the bar area - it was a Sunday and the restaurant was completely booked out, a very good sign indeed! Our food was absolutely delicious and the service was excellent and efficient. The Manager on Duty made it his point to drop by each table and chat to the customers, seeking their opinions on the food etc., and to ensure that everything was up to standard. The menus appear to be very good and varied, with a 3 course Sunday lunch priced at €25, an extensive dinner menu as well as a really good Bar Menu with a huge choice of starters, sandwiches, main courses and even a burger bar. The picturesque setting would make it a brilliant location for a wedding, with such wonderful scenery for memorable photographs with the harbour etc in the background. I believe the bedrooms have also been upgraded to a high standard and some of them have balconies looking out over the harbour. What a wonderful location for a holiday or short break to explore the amazing Beara peninsula which is also on the famous Wild Atlantic Way route. The whole place was really busy but the friendly and efficient staff made sure everything was running smoothly and 'ship shape', if you pardon the pun!
