A ‘Frozen’-Inspired Family Vacation With Reindeer, Saunas, and Northern Lights

"Husky sledding is available near Rovaniemi, too, just north along the frozen Ounasjoki River at Bear Hill Husky. So off we went one day to try our mushing skills."

This was a fun and exciting trip. Transportation was provided throughout the entire journey. Before driving, we put on warm clothing and boots and were instructed on how to drive to ensure our safety, the safety of our dogs, and our guide's safety. Driving was very simple. There were stops for photos along the way. Our guide would frequently turn back to ensure everyone was driving safely. Because I went alone, I had to drive the sled the whole time. Although I didn't get to "enjoy" it, it was still a fantastic experience. You might be a little scared at first, but you gradually get the hang of it, and afterward, you might even want to do it again! 😂 The huskies' living conditions were excellent, and each husky received treats afterward. They were adorable, well-behaved, and very excited! 😂 Afterward, we had rest time (hot drinks and biscuits), and the guide explained things to us. It's a very worthwhile activity! Highly recommended!!! The surrounding scenery is also beautiful.

We absolutely loved our dogsledding adventure at Bearhill. The guides were all lovely and taught us so much about the huskies. The ride through the woods was exhilarating! Highly recommend!

It was a unique and incredible experience. They picked us up at an easily accessible meeting point and right on time. Upon arrival, we were warmly welcomed, and so were we during the tour. At the end, we had the opportunity to ask any questions we had about Huskies. Definitely worth it!

This is the best husky ride! The staff were all great, very informative about the dogs and how're they're kept. They really cared for the animals. The ride itself was really magical, across a frozen lake. It was snowing literally in our faces but it was still great! I'm really glad we chose Bearhill over other operators as they went above and beyond - thank you to the member of staff who was kind about my autistic son, she said some very lovely things which made me feel better and she didn't have to - I'm unsure of her name, but she'll remember our conversation. A very fond memory of our time in Lapland.

We LOVED this experience! We arrived and they were ready for us to go and our kids enjoyed how fast the huskies ran and how great the track was. The ride was great! Then we came back by a toasty fire and hung out and pet the dogs and then went inside for a hot drink and cookies and some dog education. Next up was a fun time in the kennels meeting the dogs up close and playing with some of their new puppies. This excursion was definitely a high light for us. We recommend this company over others we investigated and heard about.

AMAZING! Our guide has great experience with husky, The ride was the perfect length and super relaxing, after the rides, the guide took us to husky holding area. We had the opportunity to ask any questions, they were super helpful and informative. They even gave soup, tea and coffee for lunch, was amazing! I genuinely couldn’t recommend this experience enough not just for the husky but for the people as well.

Bearhill husky was the highlight of our Rovaniemi trip. The driver who picked us up was the nicest man. Overalls and warm clothing was provided. The guide and sledge driver Adam were full of information about the dogs. We didn’t have snow so had carriages instead but we loved it despite the absence of snow. We learned alot about the differences of Alaska and Siberian huskies, the life and training of the dogs. Great day out, would 100% recommend. Biscuits and hot berry juice at the end was a nice treat.

It‘s kind of an once in a life-time experience with my fiancé to self-drive the sled with the huskies as a whole team. My fiancé and I had a wonderful time with our husky team and of course with bearhill in general. The ride itself took 45min. Before the ride, we got an overall suit to wear because the weather was raining and snowing. During the ride we had a small break to change the musher (first „driver“ my fiancé and then myself). After the ride, we listen to Susanna (our host) and the stories she was telling about Kennels, husky breeding, struggles, etc. It was very interesting. Bearhill husky tours is a certified and sustainable company, which is significant for animal welfare, nature, finnish society and for the culture. Thank you very much for having us.
