When I moved to the area a few months ago, I made it a point to try all the local spots—especially places that serve Menudo. I stopped in here one Saturday morning, went to the counter, and waited. And waited. And waited. The person working walked past me at least five times without acknowledging me, so I eventually walked out.
Fast forward to today. I happened to be nearby and decided to give it another chance. This time, the same employee acknowledged me, took my order and my payment… and then I waited again. Twenty minutes passed before I finally got his attention. His response: “You’re up next.”
Ten more minutes went by. I told him, “You should have let me know if I had to wait 30 minutes for a cup of soup.” Instead of an apology, he said, “Did you see the size of the table I was handling?” I told him he should have said something if he knew it would take that long, and he simply walked away.
Eventually, who I believe is the owner, Bea, brought out a large order and tried to hand it to me. I told her, “I ordered a menudo.” Ten minutes later, she handed me a bowl of watery, mushy broth that tasted like hominy water with a couple pieces of meat, barely lukewarm—as if it had been microwaved. All for $13.75.
Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. But the service and the product here are genuinely disappointing. They told me they wouldn't charge me after I was already charged. Not holding my breath.
Safe to say, I won’t be returning—and I won’t be recommending this place to anyone I know.
FOLLOW UP: Yeah, they took the money...like I knew they would.
