21 Best Restaurants in Cape Town

"The Constantia Valley outpost of city stalwart Chefs Warehouse is sheer magic to look at with drop-dead gorgeous views, through floor-to-ceiling glass, of the entire valley, across False Bay to the distant mountains. But the food is even more magical than the setting, thanks to chef Ivor Jones’s inventive, Asian-inflected menu—dishes like linefish sashimi with toasted lemongrass and yuzu dressing and smoked coconut or Korean chili cauliflower tempura with corn masa mayo will leave an impression you won’t soon forget." - Jane Broughton

Beau Constantia is an absolutely magical place to visit in the Constantia Valley. The estate sits high on the slopes and the views are breathtaking. Rolling vineyards stretch out before you. The distant mountains form a perfect backdrop, from the moment we arrived, we felt completely immersed in the beauty. The wines were exceptional and our experience was made even more special by an amazing server who guided us through the tasting. He was friendly, knowledgeable, and took the time to explain each wine, helping us discover our favourites and making the experience feel personal and thoughtful. The food was just as impressive. We ordered a cheese board that was perfectly presented and full of flavour, as well as some fresh, delicious oysters. To our delight, there was also a taco truck on the estate, and the tacos were incredible. They were soft shell, not hard, with generous fillings and wonderful seasoning. This time we sat outside as there was a private function inside, which made the experience even more enjoyable, and previously we had the best duck salad here, which we still talk about. Beau Constantia combines exceptional wine, outstanding food, spectacular scenery, and warm, thoughtful service. It is an experience that will stay with you for a long time and is a must-visit for anyone in Cape Town who enjoys fine wine, great food, and beautiful surroundings. To be honest I preferred the wines and great service here more than at groot Constantia🫠

Beautiful views of the winery and surrounding area. We tried to do a walk in wine tasting (for 2 people) but it was fully booked. Luckily there is a bar and beautiful patio area we could sit at and order wine by the glass (or you can do wine tastings) and food. A lot of the tables in that area were book with reservations, but the benches around the outside of the patio are first come first serve. We arrived around 2 pm on a Sunday and had no trouble getting a spot along that bench seating, but it did seem to fill up a bit around 3:30/4pm.

Beau Constantia is a beautiful place with excellent wines, but unfortunately my experience was partially ruined by our server, Zara. The tasting felt rushed, and she repeatedly left dirty glasses, finished platter boards, and i could see her socializing with a plated colleague, which was disappointing—especially at a venue of this standard. That said, I would like to sincerely commend the African gentleman who was clearing tables and assisting with food service in the glass house. He was extremely hardworking, attentive, and made sure guests always had a clean and comfortable space. I own a restaurant in New York, and I watched his work ethic throughout my visit—he was consistently moving, helping everyone, and ensuring smooth service. I truly hope his efforts are recognized and appreciated by management and owners.

We attended the wine tasting and are visiting from Belgium. Perhaps we have different expectations and principles when it comes to wine tastings, although we previously had an excellent experience in the region (the “Vrede en Lust” wine tasting in Franschhoek, which we would highly recommend). We were seated downstairs on the deck, where it was extremely hot due to direct sunlight. Unfortunately, the umbrellas could not be opened because of the wind. It might be worth investing in sturdier umbrellas so they can be used safely and provide proper shade. The wines were not all served in separate glasses: red wines were poured consecutively into the same glass, and the same applied to the white wines. We were also not a fan of the glassware itself; we would have preferred classic wine glasses, as it was difficult to properly smell and appreciate the aromas. The service was inconsistent, as incorrect items were brought to our table on a few occasions. When we asked about the difference between the two wine tasting options, we received an incorrect explanation. Additionally, the environment was quite loud, making it hard to hear the information and explanations provided with the wines. That said, it is a very beautiful location with a lot of potential. Unfortunately, for us, the experience was disappointing. Regrettably, we will not be returning. Sorry, and we still wish you all the best for the future.

Beautiful setting! We sat up on the rooftop and did the wine tasting (4 wines for R110) and shared the tasting charcuterie platter which was delicious.

Wow! Stunning location. Loved the menu and a bunch of us did the wine flight. Delicious! The highlight was our service from Sandra. What a joy. She made our afternoon. Thanks so much.

The venue itself is excellent and the views are absolutely lovely. I would particularly like to give a big thumbs up to Lara and Walter — without a doubt the most hardworking team I’ve encountered. From bartending to clearing tables and serving as waitrons, they seemed to do almost everything and were everywhere they were needed. Their teamwork was outstanding and helped ensure our friend had a wonderful bridal shower.

Highly disappointed - Imagine deciding to buy a bottle of wine (At the wine farm) and they decide to package your wine in this ugly brown paper bag 😷 ?! And apparently they only have decent packing when you buy 3 or more bottles. This definitely ruined my experience. Please do better.
