We stayed at the Beaumont Hotel for two nights—one in a standard room and one in a one-bedroom suite—and we couldn’t have been more delighted. From the moment we arrived, the staff was exceptionally friendly, welcoming, and accommodating, making us feel right at home.||The hotel itself is absolutely stunning. Lovingly restored in the 2000s at great expense, it now shines as a true gem of Colorado’s history. Operated by a wonderful family that clearly cares about both the building and the guests, it feels like stepping back into another era—yet with all the modern comforts you’d hope for. The electricity, plumbing, and air conditioning are all state-of-the-art, and the hotel even has modern A/C a working elevator, which are extremely convenient for a hotel constructed in the 1880’s.||The interior is filled with antiques and period furnishings, giving every hallway and room character. The grand staircase is gorgeous, among many festires. Our suite was spacious and beautifully appointed, while the standard room was cozy and comfortable. Both offered the unique atmosphere you only find in historic landmark hotels. We saw the Presidential suite where President Theodore Roosevelt once stayed, and it is stunningly magnificent, though perhaps more so now than it was when he stayed. ||One thing to note: this is not a generic chain hotel with computerized key cards and cookie-cutter rooms. The Beaumont has a personality all its own. That’s exactly what makes it special, but it does mean that travelers should come with an appreciation for historic hotels.||The location could not be better—right in the heart of Ouray, surrounded by wonderful shops and restaurants, with some of the most breathtaking mountain views in all of Colorado and the Mountain West. Just stepping outside feels like walking into a postcard.||We absolutely recommend the Beaumont Hotel to anyone visiting Ouray. It is elegant, historic, comfortable, and unforgettable.
