This place was suggested to me by a friend so I had to try it out and I must say I was not at all disappointed. I ordered a pistachio one and nanaimo as well. Very wholesome and quite fulfilling. Will try some more flavours next time.

Google
This kiosk provides freshly made "beaver tails" pastry dessert with variety toppings. Very tasty. Worth a visit We did not enjoyed both the apple pie and hazelnut ones

Google
Crazy excitement in several places presented on one street. There are always queues here. Sufficient selection, hearty, prices above average. Friendly staff.

Google
I’ve had two beavertails before this, and I tried the strawberry cheesecake + poutine here and it was PHENOMENAL. The strawberry cheesecake was not too sweet, creamy, and slightly tangy. Delicious! The poutine was also such a pleasant surprise :-)

Kim N

Google
We tried the honey pistachio and nutella banana. Both were good especially the banana one. When they first came out, hot and crunchy, it was literally melting in my mouth, really amazing!

Google
Our friends told us we had to try a beavertail pastry while in Banff—though they couldn’t remember the name or location (helpful). Turns out, it’s literally called BeaverTails, a Canadian chain known for flat, deep-fried pastries shaped like a beaver tail. We planned to get two for breakfast, but after seeing the size, we shared one: the Maple Glazed with maple candy flakes. It came out piping hot in a loose wrapper—definitely not walk-and-eat food—so we found a bench and dug in. Sweet, crispy, warm, and indulgent. Not life-changing, but pretty darn good and worth stopping by if you're wandering around Banff.

Google
We never had these so it was fun to try these Elephant Ears with different toppings. Centrally located so nice to eat outside while people watching.

Google
Had a great experience here! It’s a must buy every time we visit banff and my go to is always the avalanche but this time the service was above and beyond! Thanks Yib (I’m not sure if the spelling’s right)! Keep up being awesome!

Yelp
When in Canada, you have to try a beaver tail (flattened donut with toppings) at least once. What better place to try it than a place actually called Beaver Tails? They have multiple locations, including both Banff and Canmore. I got the Killaloe Sunrise, which is the flattened donut topped with cinnamon + sugar + lemon juice. I have never had lemon juice with cinnamon + sugar, and liked it quite a bit. The fried dough was made to order, so was super crispy. You cannot go wrong with fried anything with sugar.

Yelp
I had to check out BeaverTails while I was in Canada since I know it's a Canadian spot. I was told to try the original flavor first and I'm glad I did! It tasted just like the cereal Cinnamon Toast Crunch in the best way possible. So crispy, sweet, and satisfying. This location is a takeaway-only setup with no indoor seating, but it's perfect for grabbing a quick treat while exploring. They also serve ice cream and a variety of other sweet dessert options if you're craving more. I'll definitely check out another location and try a different flavor next time. A must try if you spot one.

Yelp
Very busy, casual place and always with a line. It was crowded and we had to stand in line for a bit. But I guess it allows you to have enough time to decide what to get. It's a Canadian classic so of course we had to try it. It's a flat dough in the shape of a beaver's tail. You have the options of getting toppings on top. I really enjoyed the pistachio one. A must try in Canada.

Yelp
Tried the plain one and it is good Tastes like churros Service ok Ambience is more of pick up and go. No seating
google avatar

Susanne M.

Yelp
Quick service, line was short here (long at the one across the street just becuz that side is busier). We got an original & it was so good! We really enjoyed it, very surprised it was so tasty! Got a pistachio hot cocoa - just pistachio sauce & nuts on top of cocoa - a little off putting but I liked it because I love pistachio! If you don't want to eat a mouthful of nuts, get a regular one.

Yelp
BeaverTails Review First time in Banff, we had to try the iconic BeaverTails, and they did not disappoint! Think of them like elephant ears from the States, but so much better. Made fresh right in front of you, they're served hot and perfectly crispy. My son had the classic cinnamon and sugar, and my mom tried the apple pie flavor--both were absolutely delicious! For me, the classic was just right: simple, sweet, and satisfying. If you're in the area trying BeaverTails is an absolute must!
google avatar

Vanesa R.

Yelp
What a surprise on how delicious this simple concept was. We got the Nutella with banana and it was dang good. It wasn't overwhelming at all and the perfect bite everytime. This was delicious and worth the try. They had different selections of ice cream as well which was nice. Give it a try if you are in town..
google avatar

Jess L.

Yelp
It smelled good every time we passed so i finally decided to try a beaver tail. The line was a little off and confusing when ordering. There are a lot of topping options for this fried dough. Ended up going with a classic because it seemed simple and not overly sweet. It was a tasty treat if you are looking for thin fried dough with cinnamon and sugar topping.
google avatar

Yelp
Beaver tails lived up to the hype in all the best ways. There's always a line because everyone in Banff wanted a taste but it was worth the wait. My friend snagged a couple seats at the table outside while I ordered. I got the apple beaver tail with vanilla ice cream on top. It was sooo warm, cinnamony and sugary and ice creamy! The perfect dessert. Soooo good! My friend and I shared and were stuffed after. Good thing there's no BeaverTails in New Orleans because I would be there every week and I would be fat.
google avatar

Yelp
Busy spot in Banff and we wanted to try another local favorite after failing to fall in love with poutine. We got the Nutella topped Beavertail and were pleasantly surprised at how tasty it was. They had lots of options but some sounded a little too sugary. The original with cinnamon and sugar sounded good too. Definitely worth a try.
google avatar

Yelp
For those of you who don't know, like I didn't at first, a Beaver Tail is a fried dough pastry, simply in the shape of a beaver tail. The classic is covered in cinnamon sugar (similar to a churro, but bigger), and they have a ton of different toppings! You can get a hazelnut spread, vanilla icing, cheesecake spread, with Oreo crumble, Reese's Pieces, brownie chunks, apples or bananas on top. The combinations are endless, which made it really hard for me to choose one (haha). It is a tiny location, with some seating outside, but it is definitely more of a grab and go spot. This is a chain, but it is very popular, because every time we passed it, there was a long line. This gave me some time to decide which Beaver Tail to get. I ended up going with the Triple Trip (Chocolate hazelnut spread, peanut butter, and Reese's Pieces). It was delicious! My husband said it was too sweet/rich, but what else would you expect!?
google avatar

Kelsie P.

Yelp
If you've got a sweet tooth, this place is for you! I ordered the Coco Vanil' and it was a 10/10! It's made right in front of you so it's served warm and ooey gooey. Make sure you have lots of napkins because it is a bit messy, but totally worth it! The line to order seems long but moves pretty quickly, too.

Lori M.

Yelp
Must try!! Had the pistachio beaver tail with a scoop of ice cream and it was the best!!
google avatar

Justin C.

Yelp
One of my favorite things to get in Banff, a beaver tail is flattened fried donut bread with plain cinnamon or dessert toppings. I think it has the flavor of a Chinese long donut. Today I got the Hazel Amour, and this location is plenty generous with the hazelnut spread, it was served almost immediately and the staff even sped up my order by just asking what I wanted when the couple ahead were indecisive. No seating inside but plenty of options for that outside. Price is such a deal around $7. My little relatives loved their frozen lemonades too.
google avatar

Kaneesia Kamil C.

Yelp
Always a long line! We were lucky to be there during their opening. Service was great - inquired if their poutine had the squeaky cheese and the guy was nice to show the cheese packets they use! Brwownie : delish! Brownie bits were so good Triple Trip : they don't skimp out on the reese's candies and the nutella spread. I also love how warm they come out when they give them to you! Limited seats outside, but you can always enjoy it wherever in DT Banff!
google avatar

Rachel H.

Yelp
I got this for dessert after having dinner nearby, and it was so good! It's like a flattened out churro dough with tons of toppings to choose from. I had the pistachio, and it was incredibly delicious! It comes out piping hot, so I wish they had actual containers for put them in. Instead, they just put it in a sleeve that isn't even long enough to fit it. Be sure to grab napkins when you eat it!
google avatar

Holly F.

Yelp
This was a fun place to visit while in Banff and suggested as a must visit spot while in Canada. I had the maple beaver tail and it was delish!
google avatar

Sheila K.

Yelp
We've been told to try this place 'cause it's a must in Banff but my husband was under the impression that he was actually going to get to try a Beaver tail, like the actual animal... so he was disappointed to find that it was actually just dessert haha There are two locations super close to one another but I think this location seems to be busier than the other, not sure why. It's pretty small inside and there is no indoor or outdoor seating so we found a bench to sit somewhere outside. We got bananarama, the classic and poutine since I haven't tried it yet. I loved my banana with Nutella but the pastry was so oily, I wished they would pat it down to scrap most of the oil. The classic was alright, taste just how it looks. I wasn't a fan of the poutine, I found it to be a strange combo (might just be me lol). It was a nice sweet treat to have for sure!
google avatar

Jennifer R.

Yelp
We went to both locations! Liked the location next to McDonalds better. I would definitely get these again next time we visit. The classic is perfect cinnamon and sugar, yum!
google avatar

Keizzel C.

Yelp
Who doesn't enjoy fresh fried dough with some sugar!? Elephant ears or beavertails it's a similar concept. Nice slab of flat fried tough topped with cinnamon/sugar and because I was in Banff some "maple syrup" Get the "mehple" but you can't go wrong with the other flavors depending what you're craving. Easy to eat one yourself but one was good to share with other people just to sample it.
google avatar

Sandra K.

Yelp
Wowzers! I followed the yelpers on this one. Honestly, the photos didn't look convincing but we trusted the Yelp community. The first bite totally caught me off guard, it was so so good! We got the bananarama and the classic (cinnamon sugar). These are made to order so after we ordered, the guy went to the back to prepare the dough and fry it. The "bread" was so light and crispy and crunchy. The balance of Nutella and banana on it was perfect. My son devoured his cinnamon sugar and didn't share. He said he's going back tmrw.
google avatar

Kaitlyn K.

Yelp
I dream about beaver tails. That's all I have to say. I wanna eat this every day for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
google avatar

Yelp
BeaverTails is not something we have in the States, so I knew I wanted to try it out on my trip to Banff. There are actually two locations within very close proximity to each other on Banff Ave, so it must be a popular joint. I feel like it's equivalent to perhaps a Cinnabon or Auntie Anne's in the US. My boyfriend and I also wanted to get ice cream from Cows down the street, so we decided to split a beaver tail. So many of them looked very good, but we opted for the Bananarama (Nutella and bananas). The space inside is tiny and there is no indoor seating, so we went outside to split our treat. All told, it was good, but I felt like I would have preferred more Nutella on it. I also felt like the dough itself was missing an element of sweet, which could perhaps be enhanced by cinnamon or powdered sugar. All told, it's a good option for a sweet treat in downtown Banff. I just personally preferred Cows over BeaverTails.
google avatar

Qiu L.

Yelp
I heard it's a famous pastry in the area so I gave it a try. It's a piece of tough got deep fried and then added toppings for flavors. I got the classic. You order, they deep fry the tough and then add toppings in front of you. So every order comes out fresh. However, it's really nothing special. Very oily, greasy. Too heavy for me. I don't think I'll try another one even if it's free.
google avatar

HsiaoCheng W.

Yelp
Who doesn't like a Beaver Tail. May I be so bold as to recommend the original. It's crispy. Cinnamony. And all around fun. The chocolate is messy. But as I think their napkins say, messy is good. But not in my rental car it ain't. Photos are taken of Thursday evening around 9 pm.
google avatar

Kate X.

Yelp
We got the Avalanche BeaverTails and it was sooooo good. The dough was light and crispy, and the sugary toppings were so yummy. This was a great snack in between hikes!!
google avatar

Liz N.

Yelp
We were shocked how much we enjoyed these beaver tails!!!! It's basically fried dough with your choice of toppings! We couldn't decide on which to get but luckily you're able to split. We did have banana/Nutella and the other half was skor cheesecake. I couldn't decide which was my favorite cause they were so good!! The service was so fast and friendly. There are no tables inside but you can enjoy your beaver tails outside!
google avatar

Heath H.

Yelp
Wholly Smokes! I was already stuffed from dinner but had to have a beaver tail before we headed home! We just got the simple original and some butterscotch ice cream! All I can say is I'm thankful we do not live close to anything like this or I would weigh a million pounds! Soooooo Goooood!!
google avatar

Jan C.

Yelp
We had beavertails twice during our five night stay here. Our favorite was the standard maple. Just delicious with the crunchy topping.
google avatar

Doug N.

Yelp
Don't get me wrong. I liked it. It was good. However, I don't see what all the fuss is about. I can go to a handful of donut shops in Southern California and get something just as good, if not better. Good stuff, but nothing to go crazy about.
google avatar

Shonah M.

Yelp
A friend knew of my trip to Banff last week & asked me to bring him back a - Beaver Tail! There's very limited spots in & around Metro Vancouver were you can get them. I'd never actually tried one myself so I thought, what the heck why not! So what is a Beaver Tail you might ask!? Well you know those big rodents that like building dams on rivers right? Their tails are the namesake for this delightful treat! No PETA don't panic ... no beavers were slaughtered in the making of this dessert!!! This ain't - shark fin - soup! Yikes! Beaver Tails uses dough to make these delightful treats! It's not really a donut nor a cake but more like a flat wide long chewy pastry that's deep fried. Sugar + sweetness = next to my heart! Must try flavour mix - Hazelnut with sugar, Cinnamon & lemon!!! Hallelujah said I after one bite! Highly recommend having a BT after dinner as they are quite addictive & you may end up getting a second one like I did! Obviously you know what I sent my friend ... a picture of me in all glory & happiness munching down on one!!! Thanks for the suggestion ... friend! LMAO
google avatar

Brian B.

Yelp
This is the better location of the two within Banff. Line moves faster and it's better cared for. I'd suggest skipping the $3 scoop of ice cream and just having one with cinnamon sugar, as they best highlight the star of the show which is the beaver tail itself. Chewy, soft, crunchy and delicious. Definitely worth the $6-7 and a nice treat while walking around downtown
google avatar

Daphnie P.

Yelp
Really good beavertails. Freshly made and served hot. Good for the price. Service was fast . The place is small located in the Town of Banff,Alberta, Canada.
google avatar

Jon L.

Yelp
BeaverTails are one of Gods gifts in food form. Something between a fried dough and a donut covered in anything you could want. How can you go wrong? Do yourself the favor and go get one, now! In fact get two.. you won't regret it.
google avatar

Emily L.

Yelp
After staying in line for about 10 minutes we finally got our BeaverTails we got the strawberry cheesecake and the bananarama. So so delicious but also so sweet it's kind of just like a fried donut..? I don't really know how to explain it. I think it's some thing that everybody should try at least once. they definitely don't have these out in the USA at least not where I'm from! I don't know if I would come back next time I come to Canada just because for me it was way too sweet but it's really nice for kids or those with a sweet tooth! decent price and portion size and the service was really kind!
google avatar

Cindy Z.

Yelp
Beaver Tails is a Canadian classic; and a delicious one at that! There are two locations in Banff only a block from each other, yet the line is out the door for both locations at all times. After a 10 minute or so wait, we finally got our orders. The beavertails are a long and flat fried dough pastry that is shaped like a beavertail, thus the name. Each of them are covered with various toppings and is a delicious dessert. If you are having trouble deciding what flavor you want, you can pick two. We opted for half Avalanche (cheesecake spread, Skor bits, and caramel sauce) and half Coco Vanil' (vanilla icing, crushed Oreo cookies, and chocolate sauce) for $8 CAD. Although very sweet, the beavertail was delicious especially with the flavors. I would definitely get the Avalanche beavertail again! In addition, we ordered the Poutine ($8.50 CAD) as well and this was a huge hit! The fries were super crisp with the perfect amount of gravy and cheese curds. This place is such a Canadian classic from the savory poutine to the sweet beavertails --definitely try it if you haven't!
google avatar

Serena N.

Yelp
A MUST WHEN YOU ARE IN CANADA. I've been to Canada before but it was our first time in Banff (friends and I were headed to Moraine Lake and Lake Louise for the weekend) and it was recommended to get Beaver Tails while we were here. 1000% agree! After a nice hefty-salty dinner eating ramen, we all headed to BeaverTails to sweeten our night. There's various options of beavertails you can get and no, it's not actual beaver tails! These are lightly fried pieces of dough where you can add a plethora of toppings. I got the original beaver tail with just cinnamon sugar while my friends got the Nutella and banana ones. All of which were AMAZING! You can even add ice cream to your beaver tail and that's one thing I regret not getting! Can't wait to come back to try other flavors!
google avatar

Kristin F.

Yelp
Worth the hype in our opinion. We stopped here two nights in a row! You can do half and half on one piece of bread. Mehple & Avalanche were my favorites. My friend loved the Oreo one. It's kind of a mix between a funnel cake and a sopapilla (from the states). They are crispy and delicious. Highly recommend!!!
google avatar

Sue B.

Yelp
Best dessert in Banff. Loved it. Wish I had a photo. Ordered apple pie with ice cream.
google avatar

Cindy R.

Yelp
LOVE this place! Especially the cinnamon one with lemon. Thank goodness we were only visiting, otherwise I wouldn't be able to fit my jeans.
google avatar

Saleen M.

Yelp
What is a beaver tail?! It is a fried, flat, crispy bread pasty! & they have several tasty toppings available such as chocolate hazelnut, banana chocolate, Oreos, & more. Maple: A must get when in Canada. Very sweet. Killaloe Sunrise: Cinnamon, sugar, & lemon. Refreshing & sweet, but low key.
google avatar

Kevin H.

Yelp
Honestly, can't go wrong with fried dough and sugar. This place doesn't disappoint in that regards. Service was friendly but a bit on the slower end on my experience. I recommend getting the Killaloe (cinnamon sugar with a lemon wedge) as it's not overly sweet but absolutely delicious if you add in a spritz of lemon juice.
google avatar

Kevin P.

Yelp
I ordered this on Goats Eye and I absolutely loved it. The dessert was sweet and tasty while the Beaverdog was a warm upgrade from a hot dog. I would love to order more from here, creative design as well.
google avatar

T. Allan P.

Yelp
A unique Canadian treat that has highly enjoyable. As with most spots in Banff, be prepared for a wait.
google avatar

Jay F.

Yelp
Passed by these stores a couple of times. They looked good and I knew I just had to try them. Ordered the Avalanche and the Mehple. The Avalanche is one of the best sellers. Personally it's too sweet for me. I preferred the Mehple. It had the right amount of sweetness, crunchiness from the maple sugar, and the warm, chewiness of the dough. I'm glad I got to try them during this visit in picturesque Banff.
google avatar

Morgan S.

Yelp
My husband and I got a chocolate fudge brownie ice cream cone and Cookie Monster ice cream cup. The ice cream was pretty good. We came because it's a staple of the area. I wish we would have gotten a beaver tail but the ice cream still hit the spot.
google avatar

Patrick W.

Yelp
It is a dessert spot that originates from Ottawa. I absolutely loved Beavertails when I tried it during a past trip to Ottawa. I was thrilled that there were two locations in the town of Banff. A Beavertail starts with a fried piece of dough that is shaped like [you guessed it] a beavertail. The dough is chewy and crispy. Then, additional sweet paste and toppings [the selected flavor(s)] are put on top of it. I ordered a Beavertail with a half hazelnut & banana and the other half oreo. It is basically your pick of sugar placed on top of more sugar. It tastes as good as it sounds and looks. On the other hand, it can be a bit messy. It is difficult not to get the sweet goodness all over your hands. Beavertails are perfect for crisp, cold weather. Nonetheless, it is delicious in any weather. If you are visiting the Canadian Rockies and looking for recommendations, feel free to message me through Yelp and I can share my itinerary/ recommendations, which includes my Yelp reviews. The information for an electronic copy can also be found via my Yelp profile.

Yelp
Yum. The ice cream and pastries were amazing... I don't even think about the calories at this point. The classic and the banana Nutella was my fav. I feel the reeses pieces I had was way too rich and I have to think the other ones would be too. I also noticed the location down the street from Our hotel to be better than the one closest to us... we liked the one next to "cow"... the girl there just seem to fry the pastries to perfection. Not to crunchy like the other place. I had seen the pastries on our first day and was curious what they were... wow. Yummy. You must try one.

Yelp
BeaverTails is such a great pastry store. I love it here and the there are so many options to choose from. They have delicious beverage and gourmet desserts which are hand-crafted in front of you. The pastries and ice creams are very customizable. This particular location is very nice and clean. It was practically spotless and the service was very nice and efficient. Furthermore, the decor was on-point and was definitely appealing. It served for some great photos. The pastries and drinks we ordered were spectacular. It is definitely on the sweet side but as for BeaverTails go, it is definitely one I would place very high on my list. We ordered a "brWOWnie" which had a hazelnut spread and brownie chunks along with a Vegan Pecan Pie BeaverTail. They were both incredibly delicious and I would recommend either flavour. Moreover, the playful names are very much appreciated and wonderfully punny. The ice cream options they serve is also very good and the beverages are quite nice as well. Our orders were created efficiently and with care by a kind employee. The service was very effective. I did not come across any problems in this aspect, I found it quite nice. There are no seating arrangements in the store. Be ready to grab and go. There is another location that is very close by with an outdoor table. It may be better if you are looking towards eating casually with multiple friends. Overall, I would recommend this location. It is amazing with friends if you have the munchies for some comfortable sweet pastries and beverages.
